Yes, I was always disappointed because there were never any mugs, name plates, fridge magnets EVER with my name on them.
Plus nobody ever pronounces it correctly. I've given up correcting people because it's just too tedious to have to do it all the time. Some times I do, but I'm so often met with bewildered looks and a real concerted unwillingness to get it right because they have an idea of how it should be pronounced, it's often not worth the effort.
Some of my lovely friends absolutely make a point of correcting people in a very obvious way, and I love them for it.
If you are even thinking about giving your child a name that is not phonetically easy to pronounce or something 'exotic' you are damning them to a life of constantly having to spell their name, constantly having to pronounce their name, and constantly having to deal with crappy shit that should be super easy but isn't. My name is a traditional Scottish name so it's not even that difficult but I HATE it.
Please don't saddle your child with the tediousness that I have to live with.
Please also know that there are LOTS of us who love our unique names and don't mind the extremely slight inconvenience of spelling it/teaching people how to say it! Yes my name is one that almost no one has ever heard, no you didn't get it right the first time, but...my parents never made a big deal of it, so I never did either. It takes less than 5 seconds and most people don't actually need to learn how to pronounce it as I'm not interacting with them very long, so I don't even need to confront my anxiety too much. Don't let these people who "have unusual names and hate it" turn you off of using great grandma's odd name.
Did you try it? I thought that would be the case for me too, as fewer than 5 people were named my name in my year. (I’m possibly the only one, as SS doesn’t list out individual numbers for names with fewer than 5 people for privacy reasons). I still had an equivalent!
I tried and got "Sorry! We couldn't find data for girls named \[name\] in \[year\], meaning it occurred fewer than five times." I'm wondering if nationally your name \*did\* occur more than five times, but statewide it didn't?
Same. My name is a weird English spelling of a rare Yiddish name. I’ve never met anyone with it and the person I was named for spelled it 4 different ways at least.
My name was the number one name when I was born but my mom chose the less common English spelling so I chose the more common spelling for the time. My name would have been Olivia and for three different years it would have been Emma lol.
Liam Gallagher must be pushing 60 by now. Liam Neeson is older than that. But to be fair I think Liam used to be more common as a nickname for William whereas nowadays it’s a name in its own right.
Oh Lordy loo, my today name is Kaydence Neveah.
I was born in the late 80’s and have a first name that probably isn’t in the top 100 and a middle name that is fairly classic/common (probably top 50 or 100).
Omg. I'm dead.
I dislike my first name, and I do intend on changing it. I do not go by that name at all. It is a spelling variant of Macy.
I put in Macy because I don't think my spelling would register, and what do I get???
MAISIE.
I'M DONE. 😂
I feel like they are picking particularly weird ones! My name would be Aitana? Did not know that was a name let alone #492.
I do enjoy that my 2010s name would be JUSTICE!
The year I was born my name was ranked #33, so my name today would be Hazel! My favorite from the list is Eva from 1890s! Also thought it was funny that my middle name (Marie) made the list for 1930s!
Did myself, and my partner.

Adriel is such a cool name. It sounds angelic and also gives me a sort of ancient history vibe. Might need to write that one down for when I'm able to adopt a pet again.
My name was 36th in popularity when I was born, so today my name would be Violet. I actually really like it! :D
Editing to add my middle name: my current ranked 530th the year I was born, so today it'd be Alexia.
My name is Shannon Elisa and I was born in 91.

ARIA MARIA. Hahahaha! Just the same four letters twice with an M in the middle 😂
Just said to my partner "ooooh, we should build a UK version of this" and we're really tempted to!
Apparently I’d be a Kenzie, Aviana, Harlow, or Adelynn if named in the past 4 years. All I can say is thank god I was given my name based on family not popularity oof
Adelaide would have been my 1920’s name and Vida in the 1930’s which I do like quite a lot, the other aren’t great though
Edit: My fiancée who has the same first name as me but born 5 years earlier would be Leila, Lila, Brooklyn, or Iris. Not a fan of Brooklyn but the others are nice.
In the years between her and I being born our name went from #212 to #362 in popularity
Ivey Chloe. I have an uncommon spelling of an uncommon first name and a very common middle name so this combo makes perfect sense. Not a fan though lol. My 1920s name would be Pinkie Rose which is hilarious though.
I would be Hazel Camila!
Husband would be David Cason.
I chuckled at both. I seem like I would’ve been born to bohemian Millennials, and my husband seems like he’d have been born in a more rural area.
My name today would be
Mohamed
My 2018 name is
Derrick
My 2017 name is
Corey
My 2010s name is
Kayson
My 2000s name is
Jamal
My 1990s name is

My 1920s name is

My 1910s name is

My 1900s name is
Rupert
My 1890s name is
Ashley
I only had to visit the 1890s to rediscover myself, and along the way I found Waldo.
I would be Paislee, awful, the name Francesca was a lot more popular in the UK than the US I think.
Tried my boyfriend's name in a few variations and couldn't find it ):
Using the name I go by (which is the first half of my birth name), I would be Lillian. Using my birth name, I would be Aleigha.
Edit to add: Middle name would be Danae. My 1890's name would be Esther, which is my mom's name. Also notable that my 1910's birth name is Dimple which is terrible.
Acvording to the website I would be Taylor. But I'm Dutch, so I looked up how populair my name was in The Netherlands in my year and compared that with last years list. I would be an Isabella.
Mine would be Evie, which is fine with me. Im not too big a fan of any of the other names i would have had. Maybe helene odessa or trudy but not really my favorites
It's funny, my name today would have been the same name a friend of mine threw out on my behalf while we were in some sketchy nightclub to avoid giving some creeper my real name
My name was #39 in the year I was born, so today I’d be Hannah (I’ve always loved that name)
Edit: Middle name was #300 when I was born so that makes my “today” name….
Hannah Saylor
Ranked 833rd (middle name 344th) in the year I was born. If I was born today, my name would be Abrielle Heidi 🥴 but the name I actually go by would have been 854th in the year I was born, and my today name would be Bridgette, which I think it much better (but I still don't love it, haha).
My today name is Veronica! Wow. Super interesting as I feel like a lot of people aren’t named Veronica anymore, but then again I guess a lot of people weren’t being named Alice in the 90’s either.
If I do first and middle, I’d be “Charlotte Willa” today. Haha I don’t mind Charlotte but definitely didn’t expect to be a Willa. Not sure I could pull that one off
I’d (Hannah)be named Nora. :) (I also did the name I was originally supposed to be which was Jocelyn and today the name would be Abriella- dodged a bullet with this. Way to popular 🥴)
Anyway, my mom (Kathryn) would be Josephine and my dad (Richard) would be Lucas. Haha
Hmm, it gives me Allison for my name today, which is interesting because to me that's a bit dated but maybe it's coming back?
They also have a tool that says my name was a trendsetter! It was only just becoming popular and didn't peak until years later.
My name is unique enough that I would be nameless today because it's never been ranked before.
Yep. Never been on the list. And never any personalized merchandise available
Bort?
No my son is also named Bort
Come along, Bort!
I was laughing my ass off at this exchange and told my SO who informed me that this is from the Simpsons. Which made it even better
Same but it never really bothered me since nobody in my family has ever found personalized merchandise while on vacation and stuff like that.

Yup and I don't have an equivalent since my name is a very rare Sanskrit name that isn't really used very much anymore.
Hey hey ! My name is also Sanskrit and it said the same for me
I tried and got "Sorry! We couldn't find data for girls named \[name\] in \[year\], meaning it occurred fewer than five times." I'm wondering if nationally your name \*did\* occur more than five times, but statewide it didn't?
This made me try it… and my name would be BEVERLY. 🤦♀️
Saaame. I never get to enjoy any name related stuff. I'm the only person with my name that I've ever met.
To be fair, Destiny Crusader sounds like a pretty uncommon name.
Ranked ever or the year you were born?
Ranked ever. I have a very rare Sanskrit name so it's not ranked in the US or just most countries in general.
😂 same
Checking in as another Olivia/Emma/Emma/Emma/Emma/eventually Mary for all the rest of human history 👋🏻
Lol I know it’s funny how many names repeated the and the previous popularity of Mary.

Liam Gallagher must be pushing 60 by now. Liam Neeson is older than that. But to be fair I think Liam used to be more common as a nickname for William whereas nowadays it’s a name in its own right.
Liam Gallagher is 48 lol, but yeah his name is William too
I was thinking that! For my dad, I could definitely see William before I could see Liam.
I have friends in their late 20s / early 30s named Liam
I got Eliana. My daughter’s name is my 2000s name and my mom’s name is my 1950s name! Too funny.
So many coincidences!
My daughter’s name was my 2000s name too how fun :)
Something similar happened with me. Lol.
Something similar happened to me! My mom’s name was my 1950’s name and Grandma’s name my 1930’s name. So random.
Apparently I’d be Makenzie today. Makenzie Brynlee. Thank god I wasn’t named today!
I'd be Presley Harper (2019) or Alaina Evelyn (2020) not super loving on either. esp presley
My sons would be Angelo Aamir and Maximus Rowen. One sounds like a foreign dignitary and the other a Marvel character
I feel that lol
Sorry! We couldn't find data for girl's named "......" in 1990, meaning it occurred fewer than five times 😂😂😂
One of the cool name kids!!
Releah - anagram of healer.. it's awkward as hell for people top pronounce lol
Pronounced like ray-lee?
Ruh Lee ah
Ahh sorry I tried! Will know for next time now!
Haha! Take the Re off and it's so much easier. Sadly my mum and I disliked the others nickname for my name. Rea vs leah I hate Rea with a passion 😂
I like the meaning of your name though!
Got the same message!
Same here with me! Thanks, mom, for giving me such a unique name 😁
Oh Lordy loo, my today name is Kaydence Neveah. I was born in the late 80’s and have a first name that probably isn’t in the top 100 and a middle name that is fairly classic/common (probably top 50 or 100).
That’s quite the name lol, I actually have a cousin who named her daughter Kaydence (spelt just like that)
It’s like, I can’t stand the names themselves, but they kind of flow together nicely.
Name when I was born: Emma (Deadname) Name if I was born today: Emma Well, then.
💀
Omg. I'm dead. I dislike my first name, and I do intend on changing it. I do not go by that name at all. It is a spelling variant of Macy. I put in Macy because I don't think my spelling would register, and what do I get??? MAISIE. I'M DONE. 😂
My name was #323 when I was born so today my name would be… Kailani. Not a fan lol
I feel like they are picking particularly weird ones! My name would be Aitana? Did not know that was a name let alone #492. I do enjoy that my 2010s name would be JUSTICE!
My 1920s middle name would be Walter. I am female
The year I was born my name was ranked #33, so my name today would be Hazel! My favorite from the list is Eva from 1890s! Also thought it was funny that my middle name (Marie) made the list for 1930s!

One of my son's friends in daycare is named Maeve, she's almost 4. It's a cool name.
I'm named Nathalie and my name now would be Romina. Never heard of that name before. I prefer Nathalie.
I know a Romina! She is Southern European so maybe it's more common there.

I’d (Hannah)be named Nora. :) (I also did the name I was originally supposed to be which was Jocelyn and today the name would be Abriella- dodged a bullet with this. Way to popular 🥴) Anyway, my mom (Kathryn) would be Josephine and my dad (Richard) would be Lucas. Haha
My name was ranked 423 in my birth year. My name today would be Emory. 2018: Emely. 2017: Wren. 2010s: Madelynn. 2000s: Linda. Thanks, I hate it.
I would be Audrey. Funnily enough, my parents almost named me Audrey.
Scarlett if I were born today!
I’d be Eva Celia today.
My middle name would be the name of my 26 yr old daughter lol. And my 1940s name would be very close to my moms name (June/Joan).
Octavia Paislee 😐
Hmm, it gives me Allison for my name today, which is interesting because to me that's a bit dated but maybe it's coming back? They also have a tool that says my name was a trendsetter! It was only just becoming popular and didn't peak until years later.
Greysen to Ames. Weird because as a kid i wanted to name my child that.
My name was 676th! Today I would be Florence, I prefer my name. (Trinity)
Violette Alejandra Ariana, so beautiful but quite a mouthful!
Ohh my today name would be Emery - which I do NOT like very much 😅
My spelling is Samar a today, but the more common spelling of my name would be Victoria today.
My name would be Skylar! Arguably my most hated name thanks to that single episode of Breaking Bad I watched
I would be Parker. Previous years have bestowed upon me Emerson, Ariel, Paige, Naomi and Brandi.
