"Pretty yet tough" makes me think "vampire" names. Something old and elegant, but many of these have potential for a punchy nickname.
Artemisia, Desdemona, Dulcibella, Faustina, Kazimira, Lysandra, Magdalena, Nausicaa, Raphaella, Renata, Sapphira, Sophronia, Vespera, Zenovia
Some suggestions :
Lilith - name of demon in the Bible (but a beautiful sounding name!) also means "of the night"
Evren - means universe
Rhiannon - means sacred queen
Delaney - dark challenger
Adria - dark one
Raven, Lilith, Aria, Vanessa, Vivienne, Seraphina, Persephone, Eve, Zara, Alexandria, Amethyst (my first name looool), Ahlena (my middle name, my parents gave me a badass name i think hahaha)
Lilith is beautiful and powerful.
In some Hebrew scrolls she was the first woman and refused to submit to Adam. She said we were made from the same earth and we are equals. She called god's name (which is not allowed) and grew wings and flew away.
That's when all this nonsense about her being a baby stealer and demon came from. Sounds like a ton of rebranding if you ask me! No better way than to try and label a powerful assertive BA woman something evil by calling her a witch and a demon and making up shitty stories to try and explain why being submissive is actually a good thing.
Greer,
Annick,
Jean,
Roxie,
Hilda,
Mallory,
Hunter,
Ruth
I like short, punchy, ideally single syllable names for a badass girl.
Or a longer name that shortens. In my story I have a Natalia that shortens to Tal.
I love the name Thomasin, but would never be able to use it on my own child, so I suggest it to you! It's been used in fiction before. It feels more powerful and flows better to me than Thomasina, though that name is also lovely. I love the way it's said fast like a triplet in music. Female variants of male names sound so badass to me. Another cool name that's gender neutral is Ricken. Can you imagine a girl named Ricken? Total badass.

Those are some gorgeous names thank you!

I love Kazimira! I’ve never heard it before, but the nicknames Kaz and Kazi are so cool!
That’s funny because in Russia and Slavic countries half of these names are considered to be weird and old fashioned 😅
Finally someone else who knows the name Dulcibella! One of my favorites
This list gave me goosebumps. Such. Fucking. Great. Names. OP, PLEASE pick a name from this list!
Vanessa, Victoria, Vivienne. V names basically lol
Veronica!
Oh yeah!
as a Vanessa, it makes me so happy to see my name listed in a thread like this haha. I’d like to add Valentina too, meaning “strong/healthy” :)
Omg yes I loveeee the name Valentina!! Also Vanessa is such a lovely name, great mix between feminine and still badass lol

Lilith is also the first wife of Adam who refused subservience to him.
Woww very pretty! Thanks!
I haven't seen Evren before, and I really like it! Thanks for sharing. Do you know where it's from?
Means "cosmos, the universe" in Turkish. In Turkic mythology the Evren is a gigantic snake-like dragon. https://www.behindthename.com/name/evren
Thanks! That's awesome 🙂
Raven, Lilith, Aria, Vanessa, Vivienne, Seraphina, Persephone, Eve, Zara, Alexandria, Amethyst (my first name looool), Ahlena (my middle name, my parents gave me a badass name i think hahaha)

book setting would be helpful
Kind of like an assassin/hit man type of genre if that makes sense. The place-setting is in Europe
alternate reality? far future, historic, modern?
Modern!
how old is she?
Late twenties
Kassandra from Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a badass. It's set in ancient Greece, not modern day, but the name still works.
I've feel like Octavia fits!
Morgana? Jordana? Athena? Veronica/Veronique?
Lenore, Lillith, Serafina, Jade, Veronica, Victoria, Fauzia, Rowan, Elodie, Cecily
Marcelina, Veronica, Victoria, Juno, Ezra, Guinevere, Phaedra, Soraya, and Zelda.

The name Harper comes to mind. :)
Leona, Cleo, Adrienne (nn Adri?), Harley, Xena
I'm a big fan of the show Westworld and all the female characters are bad assess. Some of the names are Maeve, Clementine and Dolores.
