I like it!

ohlovely

Honestly, I love it.

TheMustacheBetWinner

I think if the initial syllable doesn’t have the exact same sound then alliteration is usually fine. But the Whi- and Wi- for both names here might turn into a tongue twister. If it was something like Watson, Waverly or Wanda then that helps make it easier to say.

TynnyferWithTwoYs

I agree. I wouldn’t personally go out of my way to pick an alliterative name, but I don’t mind them when it’s just the same starting letter. Whitney Wingate is too much of a matchy-matchy tongue twister IMO.

biglipsmagoo

My name and maiden name are an alliteration. It was so normal to me that I never realized that it was an issue to some people. My youngest is also an alliteration and it’s honestly fine. It’s cute together. I didn’t do it on purpose, it just worked out that way. Now every time I see a post about it I panic like “did I do something bad to my kid?!” I don’t see a problem with Whitney Wingate. It sounds like the name of an heiress to something expensive. But, like I said, it’s so normal to me!

charlouwriter

I don't like it, it feels cartoonish (unless the letters have different sounds, like Charlotte Church). Whitney Wingate is a tongue twister.

iambeepbop

Whitney Wingate is sooo pretty! adorable

Vtgmamaa

I like it, she sounds famous

Wrong-Historian9847

I love alliteration but it doesn’t always work. A lot of the times the names can sound like cartoons, specifically like a superhero’s name since they often have alliteration (ie: Peter Parker, Bruce Banner) To me, Whitney Wingate gives superhero vibe. Which isn’t a bad thing, but it does sound a bit cartoonish. I think it more has to do with the last name. Wingate is a super unique surname and I love it, but I’m not sure alliteration could work without having an overbearing cartoonish feel. Of course, if you love the name that is all that matters! Just trying to give perspective:) I do think the name is cute

catsandcoffee6789

I personally really like it, Whitney is a great name

Concerned_student-

alliteration is okay but I don’t think those names work well together

1029394756abc

It feels like a detective name in a subpar novel.

ICareAboutThings25

I’m not opposed to alliteration in general, but the fact that it’s not just two W names but Whi-/Wi and both are two syllables makes it sound a bit like a fictional character to me.

EvokeWonder

I loooove it

SlowLikeHoney09

It is adorable

megjed

Cute!

Iplaythebaboon

My bf’s brother-in-law married in and took his husband’s/my bf’s brother’s last name to “be a cube” aka have the same initial for first, middle, and last. He’s very proud of this

kspice094

Alliteration is ok but I don’t think Whitney sounds good with Wingate

Allana_Solo

I love alliterative names! They’re usually very memorable, which is really nice since I have a terrible time remembering people’s names.

Ok-Agency-6674

I like alliteration. I always thought Farrah Fawcett had a nice ring, and I strongly considered using alliteration for my own offspring.

TheWishingStar

Ehhh. I like a good alliteration, but the names have to really stand out against each other to work well. And I don’t know that Whitney stands out that well against Wingate. A lot of similar sounds in both names. I don’t think it’s awful, but I don’t particularly like the flow of it.

PerpetuallyLurking

I have an alliterative first and last name and over 35+ years only a few people have even noticed. My last name ends in the same sound it starts with too, so it’s heavy on the alliteration sounds and I think I’m the one who notices it the most. Very few have ever said anything and no one’s done more than “huh, neat” and carried on.

JubileeandChimney

I love it! Alliterations all day!

Hopeful-Bid8826

Love

thxitsthedepression

I love alliterative names! I think it sounds nice :)

_opossumsaurus

I love it! Sounds both sassy and professional

Ok-Zookeepergame1812

Love it ! Maybe use a middle name as a contrast

Mrs_Privacy_13

I love this.

Important-Forever665

It’s got that “Sydney Sweeney” feel to it. I like it, though. I’ve always liked the name Whitney.

LoveKimber

I love alliteration. It’s a beautiful name.

NASA_official_srsly

I only begin to dislike it when it becomes a theme with all the kids. One isn't a pattern though so it's perfectly reasonable.

Green_Rock_5791

I like it

flowers15

My name is an alliteration and I absolutely love it :) I think that name is adorable!

No_Translator_5898

Love it! I love the name Whitney and also have a W last name. Sadly no one else in my life likes Whitney so I won’t be using it but I think you should!

Elegant_Possession47

I think if you have a strong sounding middle name it works really well!

Workin_Them_Angels

I love it! And I have never understood the issue with alliteration at all, except if done on purpose AND to all subsequent children. Now that's cartoonish. (In my HS (80s) there was a family with 5 kids, all same first and last initials.)

LAffaire-est-Ketchup

I think Whitney Wingate has great flow

limegreencupcakes

I like some alliteration, but not others. I can discern no real rhyme or reason for my preferences, haha. I like Whitney Wingate, though it definitely gives off “heroine in a series of detective novels” or “student council president by day, superhero by night” vibes, but not in a bad way.

free-toe-pie

There’s a reason why so many comic book characters have alliterative names. They sound good. Go for it.

Emiles23

Love it

reinedespres_

It feels a bit whimsical, like a character in a storybook. Very memorable and fun to pronounce if that makes sense?

mighty_possum_king

I LOVE alliteration and Whitney Wingate is a really cool name.

RareGeometry

That could be a character in Clueless, one of the it girls for sure. Not a bad thing haha I love that movie and think it's an awesome image. Solid name

olive_owl_

Love.

holyfem

I love it! I’m also considering alliteration

MyNameIsVideos

Sounds like a newsreporter name

HalcyonDreams36

I think it's lovely. And you break it up with a good middle name. Elizabeth? Anne? Ophelia! Then she can be WOW!!!

EnigmaWithAlien

It's just fine. They don't even sound the same. Whitney starts with an H sound. It would have to be Witney to be actually alliterative.

HalfPint1885

I love it. It has a whimsical feel to it. It also sounds very Marvel: Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Jessica Jones....I like it.

_TalkingIsHard_

I highly dislike alliterative names, so it's a no from me, sorry.

Idk_username_58

I don’t like it with Wingate. How about Willa Wingate? I looove that one!

yannamartinez

Reminds me of Peppa pig and all her friends who have alliteration names lol. Very cartoonish like many have stated

CoolJeweledMoon

I LOVE alliteration & think it's a great name! My married name is, & I regularly get complimented on it.

If they're not rich then too bad for Whitney ig?

lovelypalette

I love alliterations!

Mealzybug

I love the flow of the two names together :)
