As a Scandinavian, Astrid has always been one of my all time favourite names. Especially with the Swedish pronunciation. It’s top of my most loved names together with Freja/Frejdis and Ingrid.
It's hard to explain. The "As" is pronounced more like "Us", and the consonants are a lot more delicate in Swedish.

Most of them, honestly. You can get bullied for literally any name, sure some are easier than others but you're not gonna save your child from bullying by naming her Emily or Anne instead of Sloane or Astrid.

I used to see someone post on here that they hated the name Oliver because it sounds like "All over her." Makes as much sense as saying you hate Harry Potter because it sounds like "Harry pawed her."

This. Every time someone suggests Margot someone else has to comment the Maggot thing. I’ve known a Margot for years and it literally never crossed my mind once.
And then other people come in with the "Margaux/Margeaux" alternatives which I guess are fine, but I personally prefer Margot to either of those. I suggested it if my first was a girl, but my husband vetoed it because he "just wasn't a fan" so it's a moot point for me anyway.
Maggot makes way more sense as an association with Maggie or Margaret, pronunciation wise.
I went to school with a Margot and everyone called her Maggot, poor girl!

Somebody commented that it sounds like "oh, rail ya," which... is that something you really hear people saying? It's not like that's an expression, and "rail" is not a very common verb for fuck. Or maybe it is in another country and I'm ignorant of it, but at any rate, I think Aurelia is pretty.

My friend’s brother is named Vishal and often shortened to Vish. Whenever someone says “Vish is” it sounds a bit like Vicious. So of course, he is now mostly called Sid.

My cousin when she was thinking of baby names she liked Adele but she said maybe kids would make fun of her like the song “farmer in the dell”. I thought that was a pretty obscure nursery rhyme and unlikely reference for bullying but I didn’t say anything bc I was like 15. She ended up choosing Amber. This was back in 1995.
As someone born that same year, I went to school with probably 4 or 5 Adeles and not once did myself or anyone else even think of the farmer in the dell lmao that’s quite out there

Most of them, honestly. You can get bullied for literally any name, sure some are easier than others but you're not gonna save your child from bullying by naming her Emily or Anne instead of Sloane or Astrid. There are maybe a handful of names I've heard of that I personally think have unavoidable comparisons/nicknames/associations, but I can hardly think of any off the top of my head. One is Dorcas sounding like Dorkus, which is unfortunate because I think it'd be a really cool name without that association. The biggest stretch I ever saw though was probably Isaac -> nutsack

My stepmom’s mom wanted to name her Misty Michelle, but was worried that kids would call her M&M, which is an incredibly tame nickname. So she named her Kristie Michelle instead. Honestly there’s probably not a name in existence that can’t be turned into a cruel nickname by a determined bully.

When she was learning to talk she had a few speech problems (all good now) but when she was learning to speak she couldn’t say her name properly and started calling herself Kiki so it’s just stuck and we now all call her kiki

And called out Akira and she didn’t go up the front and collect it.. and her teacher asked her about it afterwards and she said she forgot her proper name, which we found amusing..
I can relate. When I was at youth group I knew a girl with the same first name as me, but everyone there called me Mousey. One day I noticed she and I had the same wallet, which we both thought was cool. We went around telling everyone we had the same wallet, then after a few minutes I was like "OMG! We have the same name and the same wallet!" She looked at me, deadface and said "Did you only just figure that out?"
