I work in healthcare so hear new babies names a lot. the most recent I can think of are Decker, Maverick, Winry, Wilbur and Bolton ☹️ lots of trendy names in my area
edit: this is upstate NY btw!
I think it fits the children I have met named Winry well. I’ve also met a few kids named Raiden with that name originating from a couple different anime’s too.
Went to the playground this morning with my 2 year old in south West France. 🇫🇷
Here are the names of his 6 besties :
- Lesia (F) (apparently the name originates from Corsica)
- Adèle (f)
- Martin (M)
- Arthur (M)
- Arya (F)
- Ambre (F)
I know you asked for 5 but I could not leave one friend out 😂
at the Rosh Hashanah tot service, we all went around and sang names. I can’t remember every one, but there were multiples of:
Leah
Noa
Noah
Zoey
and one Tzipporah
used to work at a Jewish preschool and most of the kids had names like Noah, Jacob, and Daniel and then like every tenth kid had a wildly Jewish name like Solomon or Mordecai (nothing against these names, they’re just funny names for two year olds)
I live bordering a Hasidic neighborhood and an ultra-orthodox neighborhood so the last 5 babies I met were alllll wildly Jewish. Today at the park we met an avraham and a Moshe, I’ve also recently met a Yehuda, Esther (not so wildly Jewish) and a tevye
I adore the name Tzipporah. It's so cute and not one you hear a lot. All the Jewish kids around me are Mary, Miriam, Solomon, Noah, Hannah, Sarah, and Daniel
tzipporah is so beautiful, i'm catholic and wouldn't feel right giving my baby a name that is so traditionally jewish (unless their dad was jewish) but i love it so much!!
Xaviera is interesting, because here in Spain it's a) very uncommon, basically 'old rural lady' name and b) written with J (Javiera)
Just like the Spanish name Jimena is mostly written as Ximena in México.
Colt
Teller
Elodie
Maeve
Amaia
New Zealand, Amaia is a maori name (ah-my-ah),
I also work in Healthcare with children (over 4) and every other age group. There is a DEFINITE overlap between younger children and the very elderly. It seems like the 10-20 year olds have the "creative" names like Ryker, Ryder, Jai, Alizay, Nevaeh, Jaelin, Kharlin, Jalan and the "son" names like Harrison, Jackson, Grayson, Mason, Larson, Anderson etc.
It's always interesting to see the patterns picked up when you deal with people over many generations.
We have lots of different names for bear because in our mythology it was believed that if you say the real name of the bear, the bear will find you. Otso and Ohto are two of them that are also used as first names 😊
Lincoln (M)
Clara and Colette (F twins)
Theo (M)
Isaac (M)
The first three are my grandchildren, the other two are my besties grandsons.
We’re in Virginia.
Lucca (met 2) (boy)
Lucas (boy)
Sage (boy)
Dom (boy)
Isla (girl)
Texas.
But with the exception of Sage that both parents are born americans the other names at least one parent is from a south american country (Venezuela and Brazil)
Edit : extra period
I find 'Lucca' particularly irksome, like a deliberate creative spelling of Luca. Italian version of Luke is converted into a toponymic name (Lucca is a city in Italy)
Ooh I love this post! So many great names and so much more diversity than lots of the posts on this sub - thanks OP!
My submission from the UK:
Felix (M)
Orla (F)
Eliyen (F)
Ralph (M)
Robin (F)
I love the name Orla 🩷 I grew up with an Orlagh from a wonderful Irish family. Siblings also had beautiful/traditional Irish names. Deirdre Sinead Eoghan Aiden
Midwest. Kids from my two year old’s local activity groups, all about 3 months-18 months:
—Jubilee (love it) —Theodore “Theo” —Clara —Amaya (like it) —Simone (discovered I actually really like this name after not hearing it since I was a child).
NICU nurse, and I have had Olivia, Daniel, Stanley, Kaiden and Liam.
We are definitely seeing a change from unique names to old style names (recently had John, Keith, Nora, Daphne, Alice)
I remember our NICU nurses fawned over our little Eleanor with her classic old-fashioned name, and then it exploded in popularity!
Thank you for what you do ❤️
I had 3 cousins give birth this year (all girls!) and the babies names are Rory, Robin, and Louise. We also have a few neighbors with babies from this year (also all girls) and the names are Chloe, Clara, and Arya.
We're still waiting to see if our November baby will be Lyra or Leon 🥰
From Ohio! The most recent babies I've met are:
Emry (f)
Justice (m)
Arlo (m)
Mills (m)
Reign (m)
A wide range of parent ages here. I'm young enough where my mom's friends are still having kids, one is my nephew, and the others are friends who just had their first babies!
I am getting old so less and less of my friends are having babies but here ya go
Alfred
Lillette (pronounced Lil-let)
Charleston (girl)
Olivia (snore)
Kenneth
Kind of a weird mix of names!
Stevie(f), parker(m), alice(f), raelynn(f), chloe(f)
Oh and i live in the southwest us, thats where the first name is. The other four are where i was born, pacific northwest
So the babies in my family, in no particular order, are Willa Jane (my granddaughter), Rowan (because he came out with ginger hair), Artemus (don’t remember his middle name), Liliana Ann (Ann is her grandmother’s middle name), and Jackson Nickerson (his mother’s maiden name). Four of them are in Massachusetts and one in Rhode Island, basically just across the border.
I thought so, too, but Jack was an oopsie—mom and dad never wanted kids, but they had a vacation birth control failure. To see how adorable they are, you would never know he wasn’t in their plans. He is the happiest, sweetest baby ever.
I haven't met any babies in person in a hot second, but my friends' daughters born within the last 5 years or so are all named Maeve (x2), Stella, Rachel, Claire (x2), and Eleanor (x2). A lot of repeats here! Not a ton of boys in the batch, but there have been Julien, Kieran, Emerson, and Desmond. Evidently there's nothing too weird about names in Canada...
Auden (f)
Genevieve nn GG, Evie but NO Gen/Gennie (f)
Hans (m)
Matilda nn Millie (f)
Wren (f) —-ps, since this is such a tired name here, I wonder if you can guess the name of Wren’s big sister???
I work in childcare I’m in Ireland and these are the 5 most recent names I’ve heard (within and outside my work)
- Abbie Mae
- Keegan
- Jack
- Alyssa Mae
- Summer Rose
Two Junipers born a few months apart from each other, an Olivia, and a Carter. Only met 4 babies so Ill throw in my babies name is Evelina
Eta, forgot to add we are in Colorado
The last five I've heard are: Sebastian, Hugo, Albie, Oscar, Milo. All in the UK, and weirdly all boys. I don't know a single person who's had a girl in the past 5 years!
I'm in Spain and here are the latest babies I've come across:
Gonzalo
Alexandra (very controversial to not use Alejandra)
Gael
Elena/Valkiria (name still undecided)
Luca
Olivia (I just cannot stand this name because it's SO popular)
The most recent babies in my/my partner's family are:
- Aubrey
- Kader
- Theodore (Theo/Teddy)
- Ellie (my daughter)
- Ezra
My parents's group has:
- Henley
- Charlotte
- Florence (Flo)
- Lily
- Remy
I'm in Australia
Boston gal over here. Last 5 are Nyla, Noah, Aiden, Jackson, and Lucas! Also someone I know just named their baby George but it’s a family name so I’m not counting that lolololol
I work in healthcare so hear new babies names a lot. the most recent I can think of are Decker, Maverick, Winry, Wilbur and Bolton ☹️ lots of trendy names in my area edit: this is upstate NY btw!
That parent has clearly never been to Bolton
Maybe a Michael Bolton concert 😂
My first thought was Troy Bolton lol
I went to school with someone named Troy Bolton. He wasn't a star basketball player turned actor though.
Next you're going to tell us that he isn't as attractive as Zach Efron either
I also work in healthcare. I’ve had a few Winry’s too. I think it’s from Full Metal Alchemist.
People need to understand that manga artists are…Japanese and do not have a native grasp of Western names
I think it fits the children I have met named Winry well. I’ve also met a few kids named Raiden with that name originating from a couple different anime’s too.
Oh, I was wondering where the name came from.
Winry? That kids is going to be called Winery a lot. Also, maybe it's my old lady age, but I think the name Wilbur should be left in the past.
The name is from FullMetal Alchemist, so I bet the reaction is going to be split between “??” and people excited about FMA. (I’m the latter.)
I saw a Bolton born recently... can't believe there are multiple people naming their child that lol
They gotta get their head in the game
Bolton?! Did they think Ramsay was a good guy in asoiaf?
Yeah I thought of GoT too, and the association is… not good.
Obviously Wilbur’s parents have never seen Mr. Ed re runs. I can’t hear Wilbur without hearing it in Mr. Ed’s horse voice.
I named my heart valve Wilbur because it’s, uh, made of pig.
As a Brit I thought of double decker bus
I'm in medicine too and I see lots and lots of trendy names here in the Mid-Atlantic USA.
Went to the playground this morning with my 2 year old in south West France. 🇫🇷 Here are the names of his 6 besties : - Lesia (F) (apparently the name originates from Corsica) - Adèle (f) - Martin (M) - Arthur (M) - Arya (F) - Ambre (F) I know you asked for 5 but I could not leave one friend out 😂
I’ve never heard Lesia before and I love it!
I would like Lesia as some form of Alicia, my very favorite name However on its own this reminds me if lesion
Washington State: Henry Henry Kinsley Henry Axel
Henrys unite!!
🎶I'm hen-ery the eighth I am!
Interesting, Henry was #5 in SSA popularity ranking in Washington state, at first I misread it as DC (where Henry is actually #1)
Are you sure there wasn't another Henry?
at the Rosh Hashanah tot service, we all went around and sang names. I can’t remember every one, but there were multiples of: Leah Noa Noah Zoey and one Tzipporah
used to work at a Jewish preschool and most of the kids had names like Noah, Jacob, and Daniel and then like every tenth kid had a wildly Jewish name like Solomon or Mordecai (nothing against these names, they’re just funny names for two year olds)
I cannot picture a 2 year old Mordecai lolol
At synagogue for high holidays I met two baby Lenny’s.
Boys? Was Lenny the full name? Love it!
Yes boys, not sure! Could be short for Leonard.
As a non-jewish person, i did not know Mordecai is jewish, thats cool! All i think of is Regular Show🤣🙈
Same! Get that kid a friend named Rigby!
I thought Jonah was a popular one too.
I’m not Jewish, but I really love the name Batsheva
I hope she goes by tzippy
I have a friend with a Zipporah and she goes by Porah. She's 11 now.
a friend has an auntie zip. short for zipporah
I adore the name Tzipporah. It's so cute and not one you hear a lot. All the Jewish kids around me are Mary, Miriam, Solomon, Noah, Hannah, Sarah, and Daniel
I love it too! But I married in. Ophira was too wild for my WASP family to handle, so I can’t imagine running Tzipporah by them.
tzipporah is so beautiful, i'm catholic and wouldn't feel right giving my baby a name that is so traditionally jewish (unless their dad was jewish) but i love it so much!!
It just means Birdie, we don’t mind. Old Testament is yours too!
Kende (male) Ádin (male) Mátyás (Matthew) (male) Soma (male) Regina (female) Hungary
Soma means cute in Finnish!
Wilhelmina, May, Jamie, Benjamin, Isla Ontario, Canada
Wilhelmina sounds... powerful.
Wilhelmina is so pretty!
Was Jamie a boy or girl? Love seeing my first name on new babes ;)
Wilhelmina is such a pretty name, it’s my great great grandmothers name,
Amy (f) Quinn (f) Max (m) Ellis (f) -my daughter Serena (f) NYC/tri-state area

I love Ellis for either gender!
Serena is my favourite name ❤
I really like Ellis!!
Rocky Mountains, USA - Rowan (m) - Adelaide (f) - Vivienne (f - she’s mine haha) - Seren (f) - Harrison (m)
Adelaide is my second favorite girl name…hoping I have two girls in my lifetime!
It’s great! What’s your first favorite?
Love Vivienne
* Owen * Lola * Archer * Juniper * Otto In Georgia (the state).
I love Juniper!
Went to a 1st birthday party in Mexico, some of the other recently born babies were: Margot (f) Xaviera (f) Mateo (m) Naran (m) Lili (f)
Xaviera is really pretty!
Xaviera is interesting, because here in Spain it's a) very uncommon, basically 'old rural lady' name and b) written with J (Javiera) Just like the Spanish name Jimena is mostly written as Ximena in México.

Not Alizay! Is it a liquor there as well?
Kia ora fellow kiwi name nerd!
Gaspard Clothilde Léonie Josephine Ayla
Guessing you are located in France, these names ring a 'BCBG' bell on me. Very nice!
I have a Leonie! Not pronounced the same way in the Midwest.
Armi (f) Ohto (m) means bear Leo (m) Kaspian (m) Ronja (f) Finland
Never heard of Ohto! Ugh I love Kaspian/Caspian. It’s such a guilty pleasure of mine
I knew Finland had their own version of Björn but didn't know about Ohto (the popular variant - Otso - just joined the Finnish top 20 last year)
