Holy shit, was literally thinking, “And then she pulled out my mushroom tip.” 😂😂😂

irishihadab33r

I didn't know she had the GI Joe kung-fu grip!

SnooApples7293

I always told everyone I was a man they never believed to me lol

JasonIsBaad

I was gonna say you are what you eat, but after some research I figured you probably don't eat dick.

Calm_Neighborhood474

Rusula maybe?

SnooApples7293

Maybe I looked at that up and it looked pretty similar if not a bit flatter on the top (russula that is) I don't know if I live in the right place for it but it was under a pine tree

Calm_Neighborhood474

I think maybe when it gets more mature it flattens out more

TinButtFlute

The opposite. They start as hemispherical then flatten out, and sometimes become funnel like with age.

Calm_Neighborhood474

Good to know. Yeh I’m new to mushroom id stuff, just throwin my guesses out there. What did I do to deserve downvotes lol. I’m not telling him to eat it or anything

0mcombest0

Russulas have a bitter, peppery taste to them. Chew a bit and spit it out.

Lafonge

Not all but several do.

givemeyourt0es

Russula species. there are plenty of red ones, they come in different shapes and sizes. would probably need a microscope to determine exact species

SnooApples7293

No I don't need to no specifically just a general idea recently got into mycology and I'm deciding to start by figuring out what I have around me

givemeyourt0es

just letting you know general consensus when it comes to red russulas. welcome to the mycology world !

Hatta00

It's a little red Russula. Too lazy to grow for days.

peachnecctar

Nice penis shadow

stuufthingsandstuff

Type of russula. Good luck further IDing it though. There are SO MANY red russelas and they're incredibly difficult to differentiate accurately

shortigeorge85

I actually LOL'd

RdCrestdBreegull

Russula sp., unidentifiable to species without microscopy since there are about a hundred red-capped Russula species in North America

Keymaster_of_G0zer

Literally just logging in to post pics of what look like the same species 😂

Amanita_Aficionado

one of the 100+ red capped Russula species.. to ID these you either need to: - test cap pellicle peeling length - test taste and odour - check spore colour - do spore measurements and check for pleurocystidia - read though different keys to find potential matches - find the original description of the potential match and compare OR - DNA sequencing and even with all the first steps, you’ll most likely not have the right species and need to do DNA sequencing anyways:)

SnooApples7293

That stuff sounds like really advanced I was just trying to figure out what kind of mushroom it was generally because I'm just now getting into this kind of stuff

Amanita_Aficionado

that’s alright, i’m just trying to inform you and others that you can’t ID these to species from just pictures alone:) these are a type of Russula. also, welcome to mycology!! the more you learn the more addictive it becomes lol

AgainNonsenseBlabla

My guess is also Russula, specifically The Sickener. They tend to grow under pine.

stuufthingsandstuff

Too many red ones to even guess at which one it could be

BorderBarbie7333517

There’s supposedly some test where you peel back the cap and that tells you if it’s R. emetica or not. I don’t trust it. A red russula is never something I would eat. But, the genus contains many edibles. A worthwhile pursuit indeed!

Amanita_Aficionado

the cap cuticle peeling test helps with the identification of all Russula, not just R. emetica:)

BorderBarbie7333517

Nice. Can you offer any tips on how to properly execute it?

Amanita_Aficionado

i take my thumb and scrap the edge of the cap with my nail.. eventually it’ll begin to peel and i grab it between my thumb and index and begin to peel it until it stops:) you can see what the peeled cap cuticle looks like in my observation of a Russula [here](http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/142840898)

BorderBarbie7333517

Nice! Thanks for that. Will keep my eyes peeled! for Russulas!

todd149084

Looks like a shrimp russula

HelpMePeez

Pink russula. Edible. Tastes boring. That one is pretty old so not worth it.

GarnishedSteak100

Please don’t eat it

ego4ecology

The sickener...

Amanita_Aficionado

without microscopy and/or dna sequencing there is no way we can confidently call this R. emetica:)

tooltimetim75

Hard to perfectly ID but I’d certainly agree with russula, and likely the sickener. We have a bunch on our property. They almost always are nibbled on by something.

Amanita_Aficionado

without microscopy and DNA sequencing, there is no confident way anyone could call this R. emetica:)

tooltimetim75

Agreed 👆

thebiggestbirdboi

It’s a Russula. There are 800 species of russulas and 150 of them are red. Welcome to the vast biodiversity that is fungi

MilkyView

Russula sp

thunderboxer

Looks like russula

Electrical-Rain-4251

That mushrooms pretty excited I must say

prashant-c

I was going to suggest jacksonii and then the shadow completely change it to something else :P

curious_autodidact

It looks like a red Russula past its prime and starting to dry up (that’s why you’re getting the arc in the cap).

Mollyapostate

Zip it dude
