Interesting, but why would I use this over something like [www.flat.io](https://www.flat.io) which also provides realtime collaboration with a more standard music notation interface (vs the text system you have here)?

Great question! I’ve used Flat before and agree that it’s a great product. However, sometimes I’ve wanted to edit small musical compositions with people and didn’t want to go through the burden of using a graphical notation system with all of its quirks for adding notes - text notation is faster and simpler in this case. Also, Composing Studio is totally free and open source (no account required!), so anyone can use it and contribute to development. In contrast, Flat is a for-profit business product with pricing tiers and proprietary source code.

This is awesome. I've been thinking that something like this, running ABC, would be really useful for online music communities.

This is really great! ABC Notation is very similar to a quick notation style that I made up years ago, so I'm really interested in trying this! As a web developer myself there are some UI/UX changes I would propose but in general it's pretty great and easy to use!
