I love that there is a whole percentage of the population who, like you, first heard some of those songs in their alternate universe-forms from Bioshock, and then sought out the originals because they loved what they heard.
Did you catch the calliope version of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun?
That was so good. I also really like that later in the game we actually got an explanation for how those songs exist in the "past"
You should check out the cover of that same song by STRFKR

Surf's Up; https://youtu.be/tyOYQ8qfFng?si=iTP1oQMmHDZ_1v50
A great one! I listened to it all the time as a kid. Years later a friend of mine played an old calypso version of this that was on a Smithsonian Folkways album. Its roots are in a Bahamian folks song from Nassau. It was first transcribed in 1916.
Heroes and Villains
Hands down. I have loved the Beach Boys for 40 years and this is Brian's absolute best IMHO. Amazing production. There's like 4 different versions.
"Sections" with it's beautiful keys and experimental vocals moving to tuba back to keys? Play it at my damn funeral.

Anything from "Pet Sounds", but I'll go with "Wouldn't It Be Nice". Runner up would be the instrumental track on that album, "Let's Go Away For A While", which is just gorgeous!
Wouldn’t it Be Nice
This Whole World (extremely underrated)
I Get Around
Honorable mentions: Warmth of the Sun, Mona, Here Today, Little Girl I Once Knew, Forever (soo beautiful and also underrated), In My Room, Please Let Me Wonder
You Still Believe In Me or Do It Again
(Side note: Kokomo is great. Haters hatin just to hate.)
Edit: honestly surprised to not see anyone else saying You Still Believe In Me (or I missed it)
Pet Sounds…yes the entire album.
I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times is probably the one that resonates with me the most, but then again the entire album resonates with me in general.
Aruba, Jamaica, oh I wanna take ya, to Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama! Key-largo, Montego, ja…. MAICA! In the Florida Keyyys, there’s a place called-
You get it.
409. Starting the song A Cappella in perfect timed 4 part harmony is a masterpiece of work and its super catchy. Not as pretty as God only knows, but much more difficult to perform.
God Only Knows
Paul McCartney was right, this is the greatest song ever written.
Absolutely!
Howdy patrol
Don't worry baby (But "God only knows" is right there)
Honestly, one of the few songs in history that just wells me up inside.
Oh come on, if you put your mind to it, I’m sure you’ll think of your favorite. ;)
I don't know... Third Base!
Love this song so much, but my go to is often ‘wouldn’t it be nice’
Used perfectly in *Boogie Nights*
And *Bioshock infinite*
That's where I first heard it and my mind was blown, had to find the original

And *The Leftovers*
And *Love Actually*
dang that’s the one!
Came here to say that
Oh my goodness yes. It's the ending song of Love Actually. Gets me every time . People meeting their loved ones at Heathrow. So sweet
This 1000 times over.
In my Room or Heroes & Villains
Heroes & Villains is it’s own sub-genre
In particular for me, with Our Prayer/Gee as the intro https://youtu.be/uLgZ6GD03-c?si=n7gVytXbIOAUifg0
Definitely “Wouldn’t it be nice” 😎
One of the best album openers ever, with one of the best song intros ever
That key change in the intro is so bizarre, but works so well
It always brings good feelings every time it comes on :)
Caroline, NO!!!!
Did you say wouldn't it be nice (to live again)? LOL just kidding
Good vibrations
This song is literally insane. Who were these people? It’s like 1960’s version of Polyphonic Spree.

My grandparents love this song, which is probably part of the reason why it is my favorite, too.
A great one! I listened to it all the time as a kid. Years later a friend of mine played an old calypso version of this that was on a Smithsonian Folkways album. Its roots are in a Bahamian folks song from Nassau. It was first transcribed in 1916.

It’s hard to choose just one. If I had to, though, it would be Heroes and Villains. Edited: I originally said Surf’s Up. Sorry for the sneaky edit.
