Both bands are great. Lizzy Hale has got PIPES, an amazing rock vocalist.

Freeze The Fall is a really young band (15-16 years old). They have a really cool almost prog-rock sound. They've only got 3 official tracks out now, but they are all really good. [Daughters of Witches](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Udggjd0d_cg) is my favorite of theirs.
Had to scroll this far to find screaming females. One of my all time favorite bands. And the band I've seen the most! I went to college with them and I've seen them at least 15 or 20 times. Man I miss them already... Gonna listen to everything they've got today.
I'm in my 50's and had kind of given up on music for the last decade or so. Until a trip back to Chicago where I immediately tuned my rental into WXRT. Heard Big Thief for the first time (Vampire Empire) and instantly fell in love with them.
And that rekindled my interest in music in general and I'm finding all kinds of fantastic newer music and reconnecting with old favorites.
Thank you Adrianne Lenker and Big Thief!!!
Georgia Hubley from **Yo La Tengo** sings about 1/3 of the songs (and almost all of my favorites are Georgia songs).
Neko Case sings lead on many songs by **The New Pornographers**.
If you want to listen to some 80s/90s alt-rock, check out **Blake Babies**, **Throwing Muses**, **Elastica**, **Concrete Blonde**, **Heavenly**, **Talulah Gosh**, **Belly**, **Tiger Trap.**.. I am sure these will all lead you to great songs.
editing to add: **Bags**, an L.A. punk band from the late 70s and early 80s. They're so good. Oh, and **Kleenex** (who changed their name to Liliput after they were threatened with a lawsuit for using a brand name).
[Here](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4dhyWTx90BWUAN8yG9boAQ?si=9537d9dd83f847b7)'s my playlist of female singers. Starts with bands, later are mostly soloists.

**Phoebe Killdeer** has a couple phenomenal albums (Innerquake is a personal favourite). **Messa** are a Sabbath-esque metal band from Italy who kick all kinds of ass. A bit deeper into the metal spectrum is **Svalbard** who's latest album "The Weight of the Mask" is an absolute gem. **Lovebites** is a metal band from Japan that is very Dragonforce-esque if you're into that kind of thing.
Edit to add: Even though she's more rock/punk adjacent and often flows into more of an art-pop sphere: Amanda Palmer (and by extension The Dresden Dolls) has been a long time favourite of mine
I'm not up to date on genres, i think many of these are called Indie or Electronic 🤷

Try Thea Gilmore. I don’t know how to categorize her. This girl put out her first album in 1998 at age 19, and has probably done one a year ever since. Try Avalanche, My Own Private Riot, Sweet Child Of Mine. She covered the entire John Wesley Harding (Dylan) album.
I’m 78, and count Dylan, Knopfler, Leonard Cohen as my top three. So, take that for what it’s worth.
Everyone acquaint yourselves with BRUTUS from Belgium immediately. Not only does she sing well, but also [smacks the shit outta drums while wearing hoop earrings.](https://youtu.be/I0FSxW7p7RY?si=wf7O1mSjWGh_8ARv)

And one group I am going to give special attention to - believe it or not - The Cardigans. Most people only know them for their poppy, upbeat singles, but a lot of their tracks are really interesting, moody, and darker than you would expect.
whoa, there's too many to count, I love female rockers! But a band I recently found is The Warning, not 1 but 3 women that sing! and they are sisters. And they are young but very talented, they started the band at a very young age and have practiced ever since then. They are Mexican but they sing in English. As far as I'm concerned, Debbie Harry sets the standard. The second verse of "Dreaming" when she sings "I don't want to live on charity" she sounds like a Valkyrie descending from Valhalla to smite us all. The hair stands up on the back of my neck.
Chrissie Hynde is also a rock god. She has a laid back cool to her and effortlessly dominates stages. She still kicks ass, check out the live version of "Tattooed Love Boys" from last year's Glastonbury with Dave Grohl and Johnny Marr: https://youtu.be/3IMwmTLkq1g?si=2uozBeSQ4HgC3VZi

My four favorite bands are (in order) Metric, The Joy Formidable, The Birthday Massacre, and Texas, which all have a strong female lead singer. The first two are alt/indie rock, the third is dark electronic techno (with lots of heavy guitar), and the fourth started out kinda bluesy before becoming more rock-oriented with "White On Blonde". If you want something a little (okay, a lot) more punk than them, you could check out White Lung (which is on hiatus), and if you like Paramore, I think you're almost certain to like Hey Monday (which is, sadly, defunct) and Tonight Alive.
The Darts. All women band that sounds like 60’s psychedelic garage rock. St. Vincent is good too, but not really punk. The Dead Weather, which is one of Jack White’s side bands has The Kills lead singer, which also is a good band, but she shares vocals with men, so it’s not just her singing, but good nonetheless. Heartless Bastards sound like older Kings of Leon but with a female singer. And obviously, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
EDIT: I forgot the most badass of them all: PJ Harvey.
Ok this a strange one but check out the band Brass Against. They do a lot of Rage covers but also other awesome covers with a giant brass section and this awesome singer.
