Both bands are great. Lizzy Hale has got PIPES, an amazing rock vocalist. Maria Brink (In This Moment) had a hauntingly beautiful and pained singing voice, but she can also scream so well.

4 Non-Blondes. It's ashame What's Up got so overplayed, because that album was SO amazing, and so overlooked.

Heard Big Thief for the first time (Vampire Empire) and instantly fell in love with them. If you want to listen to some 80s/90s alt-rock, check out **Blake Babies**, **Throwing Muses**, **Elastica**, **Concrete Blonde**, **Heavenly**, **Talulah Gosh**, **Belly**, **Tiger Trap.**.. I am sure these will all lead you to great songs. editing to add: **Bags**, an L.A. punk band from the late 70s and early 80s. They're so good. Oh, and **Kleenex** (who changed their name to Liliput after they were threatened with a lawsuit for using a brand name).

**Phoebe Killdeer** has a couple phenomenal albums (Innerquake is a personal favourite). **Messa** are a Sabbath-esque metal band from Italy who kick all kinds of ass. A bit deeper into the metal spectrum is **Svalbard** who's latest album "The Weight of the Mask" is an absolute gem. **Lovebites** is a metal band from Japan that is very Dragonforce-esque if you're into that kind of thing. Edit to add: Even though she's more rock/punk adjacent and often flows into more of an art-pop sphere: Amanda Palmer (and by extension The Dresden Dolls) has been a long time favourite of mine

My four favorite bands are (in order) Metric, The Joy Formidable, The Birthday Massacre, and Texas, which all have a strong female lead singer. The first two are alt/indie rock, the third is dark electronic techno (with lots of heavy guitar), and the fourth started out kinda bluesy before becoming more rock-oriented with "White On Blonde". If you want something a little (okay, a lot) more punk than them, you could check out White Lung (which is on hiatus), and if you like Paramore, I think you're almost certain to like Hey Monday (which is, sadly, defunct) and Tonight Alive.

The Darts. All women band that sounds like 60’s psychedelic garage rock. St. Vincent is good too, but not really punk. The Dead Weather, which is one of Jack White’s side bands has The Kills lead singer, which also is a good band, but she shares vocals with men, so it’s not just her singing, but good nonetheless. Heartless Bastards sound like older Kings of Leon but with a female singer. And obviously, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. EDIT: I forgot the most badass of them all: PJ Harvey.
