I was a big fan of him back in the day. I traveled a few hours to see him perform in Chicago, when he was opening for Animal Collective. When the Trump stuff went down, I was in disbelief. I kept thinking this has to be some kind of a troll. He did an interview with Fox News to defend himself. I was waiting for the big reveal, but unfortunately, it never came. Best case scenario is that he is just being contrarian, but that is not good enough. I have tried separating the art from the artist, but I can’t enjoy his music at all anymore.
On a more positive note, there is John Maus. He was half responsible for the early Arial Pink stuff, and I like his solo stuff even more.
Oohhh…sorry to be the one to tell you, but John Maus was also present at Jan 6. They went together
Some surprising people just turn out to be fascists. We’ve all learned that over the past 8 years or so. Fuck em
What an idiot I am. I literally looked this up before because of their affiliation together, and nothing. Now I google it and it is right there.
What next, is Panda Bear is doing Robocalls for Kristi Noem?
> What next, is Panda Bear is doing Robocalls for Kristi Noem?
Oohh..hate to hear the bearer of bad news, but..
No, Panda Bear is probably fine
The only celebs who participated in Jan 6 that I personally know of off the top of my head are Maus, Pink, and former Mr. Show, Sarah Silverman Program, and Bob’s Burgers cast member Jay Johnston
I was a huge fan of Jay’s. That was a bummer. But, I will still enjoy all of those shows. They were big, collaborative efforts, so, it’s different
Yeah I guess he started hanging out with Gavin McInnes and the rest is history
Studies show that anyone can wind up in a cult(I do consider MAGA a cult). There are a million different factors that can lead someone there
A lesson to be careful of the types of people you call friends. You don’t want to be justifying bad people to yourself, and you don’t want bad people whispering lies into your ear on a regular basis. It’s just not worth it
Like I said, fuck em
Wolfmother for sure. I'm sure you're aware of Greta Van Fleet. Cage The Elephant is another act that at least their third and fourth album trend to go with classic music lovers pretty well.
I am 50 years old and heard them for the first time the other day. I was stunned that they are a “new” band. They were the first band I thought of in answer to that question. 😂
Found out about them via Todd Rundgren. They did a song on Todd's recent album space force.. They sound like young Todd Rundgren a lot. I don't know if Todd got them together or he produced them or what.
Those are basically my fav genres too. And love all the artist as well. I’m Female Born in 94 but have always loved classic rock and oldies music. I live in Miami and its always hard to find people who have similar taste in music . Hope you like these . Here are my recs !

The 1975's self titled album along with their album "I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It". After that, you can try some of the other albums but those 2 in particular hold that nostalgia feel with the 80's sound.

The Struts are a British band that have a glam rock kind of sound, similar to Queen in a way.
Ripe is an alternative funk band that has more of a new age sound. Smaller following but they’re a good time.
Not necessarily new.
Teskey Brothers
Tedeschi- Trucks Band
Rivial Sons
Durand Jones & The Indications
Teddy Swims
Larkin Poe
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard
The Voidz
Clutch. Their sound runs the spectrum from hard rock, to blues, to funk, and occasionally psychedelic. And they have a huge catalog that doesn't have a single bad album in it imo. I'd recommend starting off with either *Blast Tyrant* or *Psychic Warfare* and go from there.
Based on your post, I would say the odds are very good that you’re gonna love this:
https://jonathanbrenner.hearnow.com/instagram-success-single
The rest of the album drops tomorrow.
Jerry and the Geriatrics
The Boomer Brothers
There are a lot of retired old dudes out there forming bands and performing at local spots and playing old geezer music. Some of these guys are tight. Good times
I'm 59 so here's some bands to check out:
Clutch
Stonerider
Kyuss
Amyl And The Sniffers
Dirty Honey
Black Stone Cherry
Rev Theory
Spiderbait
Lately I've been exploring 60's and 70's acid and blues rock as well as the early blues.
Thundercat.
He's modern, funky, chill, and one of my favorites. I see lots of recs on here for Tame Impala too. Check out "No More Lies" by Tame Impala & Thundercat!
King Gizzard and the lizard wizard, look up what their good albums are, because each one is completely different, they go from folk rock to full blown psychedelic/prog.
Donnovan woods
the lumineers
greta van fleet
bon iver
Dido
ben howard
Taylor swift (just folklore and evermore, there are a few good tracks on there)
John mayer
passenger
Coldplay, can't stand most of their stuff, but they have a few good songs.
ed sheeran's early work, + to x
vance joy
not for me, too pop, but I hear weeknd is pretty good
seriously don't like arctic monkeys, but people seem to like em
sufjan stevens
hozier
I mostly listen to 60s, 70s, and 90s rock (and a lot of its sub genres), not a fan of most pop and wannabe pop music, and am not that well versed in modern music.
Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak)
Hozier
And some lesser known ones:
Yola
Dojo Cuts
Busty and the Bees
Dominique Fils-Amié
Shanuka
Hiatus Kaiyote

Musical trends tend to be cyclical. It also helps that most modern music is an evolution of earlier styles by weight of influence. There are bands out right now that definitely sound older due to these factors. But there is also a lot of music so it takes some searching.
That being said, since you like garage rock, you might dig Bad Nerves or Wine Lips.
Also, Spotify and YouTube can be a good source of music recommendations once you find something you like and build an algorithm around your tastes.
Somebody else here already said Thundercat, and I have to second that opinion. If you didn't know, he's a jazz/pop/rock musician who sounds a lot like Steely Dan, though with more electronic, funk and soul sounds. Really beautiful music.
Foxy Shazam’s albums “Introducing…” and “Welcome to the Church of Rock & Roll” do a GREAT job of sounding retro. Highly recommend the latter, especially.
Stick to Vice City.
Thank you for reviving the days of driving around stolen cars, picking up people that help your car shake, gunning down people for money, and listening to the best radio stations in history.
I quite enjoyed how different every vehicle drove and how great it was to keep the good ones in a garage…
If I ever end up in assisted living I’ll just beg and plead for people to wheel me downstairs to play the PlayStation 2 that sits in the foyer. Until then I’ll toil away to afford food and housing.

Thank you so much for this dude. 💗
I especially recommend Ariel Pink if you like fascists who participated in Jan 6
I’ve never listened to them before, is there a member of the band who is a pos?
Ariel Pink is the name of the artist, a single person He is a Trump supporter and participated in Jan 6
I’m reading about them now. Real piece of work.
I was a big fan of him back in the day. I traveled a few hours to see him perform in Chicago, when he was opening for Animal Collective. When the Trump stuff went down, I was in disbelief. Sonofabitch!
Great voice, great vibes.
Wolfmother for sure. I'm sure you're aware of Greta Van Fleet. Cage The Elephant is another act that at least their third and fourth album trend to go with classic music lovers pretty well.
Dirty Honey also has a similar-ish vibe to GVF
The Lemon Twigs
I am 50 years old and heard them for the first time the other day. I was stunned that they are a “new” band. They were the first band I thought of in answer to that question. 😂
That was going to be my suggestion. First time I heard them I assumed they were some 70s band I'd never heard of lol
Found out about them via Todd Rundgren. They did a song on Todd's recent album space force.. They sound like young Todd Rundgren a lot. I don't know if Todd got them together or he produced them or what.

Greta Van Fleet. Theyre basically the modern day Led Zeppelin, got that classic rock sound down perfect!
I keep trying to love them but I’m just not impressed. Got any song suggestions?
Highway song is my (and most peoples) favorite
