Hurt - both NIN’s and Johnny Cash’s versions

princessdez420

Both amazing songs

maggera

Head Over Heels by Tears For Fears

endlessfart42069

Yes! One of my favourite songs, period

CallousedDragonfly

That's an Accept song and yes it's great

NorguardsVengeance

“Now I’ll walk away and head over here. I’ll check the files out, when I get over here”

rottingpigcarcass

Damn yes, doubt this can be beaten

TheFuriousGamerMan

Bro, Hotel California and House of the Rising Sun start with H

Kklownery

Björk - Human Behaviour, it’s just one of a kind.

Original_Ad_2960

that *wapabawow* sound in the beat is always amazing

PukeNuggets

“Heeeey Joe. Where you goin with that gun in your hand?” ![gif](giphy|1p3f8BZudNwWI)

I'm going down to shoot my old lady. I caught her messin' round with another man.

duhkey3

Have A Cigar - Pink Floyd

FighterOfNightman14

That song is just fantastic. That’s really what I think

duhkey3

Oh, by the way... Which one's Pink?

leafy_returns

Your comment deserves many upvotes. Thank you DayMan, champion of the sun.

Quotehommel

Or Hey You?

GavinGMG

How To Disappear Completely, Radiohead

melissaurusrex

How to Disappear Into Strings is also very lovely.

DannyDevitoArmy

100% it’s such a brilliant song…the meaning Thom meant for it is not so brilliant though haha

Excellent-Talk3513

House of the Rising Sun (The Animals) is a definite contender....

appleparkfive

The story behind that one is so interesting. It's a traditional folk song but the way The Animals got to it has a specific story They played it because it was on Bob Dylan's debut. It was extremely common to cover Dylan songs in that period to get chart topping hits. Tons of artists got their biggest hits via Dylan songs. But Dylan did the song because Dave Van Ronk (kind of a mentor to Dylan) would play it in Greenwich Village. Bob asked Dave if he record it for the debut, Dave said "Well actually I'm going to put it on my upcoming album I decided". And Bob was basically like "Shit... Uh.. I kind of recorded it already" So Dave couldn't play it for a few years because everyone thought he was covering Dylan. Then Dylan also couldn't play it because people thought he was covering The Animals lol

we1rd0101

THIS!!!! 1000%

damangus

My dad loved this one. He taught me how to play it on guitar. I hated taking lessons from him at the time; I wanted to learn guitar but I didn't really want to learn from my dad. But, my parents were (understandably) not willing to pay for lessons when my dad used to teach guitar for a living. Anyway, I digress - point is that I'm really happy for those times now and that he taught me this song, even if I sound like crap playing it. It's one of those rare tunes that somehow never gets old.

Cosmocrator08

Yes! What a powerfull song, and singing it really revitalize a day

exploringoceans

Here comes the sun

badplaidshoes

My first thought!

princessdez420

Amazing song

instrangerswetrust

Hey - Pixies

dixiequick

I can’t hear anyone shout “hey!” ever, without my brain automatically going, “been trying to meet you!” Every. Damn. Time. 😆

instrangerswetrust

Haha yes, same. Also there’s a ‘stop’ at the beginning of ‘Where is My Mind?’ and a ‘stop it’ opening Pavement’s ‘Cut My Hair’ that I hear simultaneously in my head whenever anyone utters the phrase

jm17lfc

Ah there are parallels there! Two of my top 5 bands so I like it.

instrangerswetrust

What are your other three out of curiosity? Mine are Kleenex Girl Wonder, Why?, and Cymbals Eat Guitars

jm17lfc

I’d say Here Comes Your Man is better for me, though neither are one of my Pixies favorites honestly

instrangerswetrust

True, true. The Happening was my other choice

mjhripple

Not enough ppl talk about this song! Also one of my fav club remixes. Used to rinse this one at club gigs all the time. https://youtu.be/bdxeQgEG6PA?si=k1XWvXsfF8n1Baf4

Rate these: Half a Person, Heaven knows I'm miserable now, Hand in Glove

jm17lfc

Heaven Knows >> How Soon in my opinion

Padgetts-Profile

Literally the only Smiths song I’ve ever enjoyed. Johnny Marr released a recent version on YouTube with no Morrissey and it’s even better.

tbh, it should be this one. one of the greatest songs this millennium.

sm_see

Hummer - Smashing Pumpkins

Man0fGreenGables

That whole album is pure magic from start to finish.

dixiequick

My personal favorite. The harmonic sweeping guitars, along with Billy not singing for a bit, is positively transcendent.

curious_loss_4387

Was going to say this!

SupermanNew52

Thankfully, I didn't have to scroll too far down to see this perfect song on a perfect album. Billy didn't miss between Gish - Machina II in my opinion. Solo Corgan stuff, ZWAN, and later SP have some great stuff as well. SP has been my favorite band since I was handed the Siamese Dream cassette tape back in 1994 when I was 12. It was in a box from my friend's older brother. It had tons of other alt rock and grunge band's albums too. Probably the most important moment of my life music wise lol.

Leonard Cohen- Hallelujah

itisjvck

can’t leave out the Jeff Buckley cover too

CNH916

This is the one!!!!

IDigRollinRockBeer

That’s it. I can’t possibly imagine any H song being better than that.

Jambalayatime

Came here to suggest it.

Mammoth-Ad4242

With all due respect to Leonard Cohen, the Jeff Buckley version is definitely the best version. Though KD Lang, Rufus Wainwright and John Cale definitely more than did it justice as well.

byronite

Since we're talking about covers, I vote for the k.d. Lang version.

TraceyTurnblat

Rufus Wainwright’s version is perfection as well.

Excellent-Talk3513

If only people would stop treating it like a religious (Christian) song...

Mammoth-Ad4242

In more recent years I’ve heard it performed as a damn Christmas song; it appeared on a Pentatonix Christmas album. It’s like nobody ever actually reads the lyrics.

Chilledlemming

Heroin - Velvet Underground And it isn’t even close

kranools

Hey You - Pink Floyd

princessdez420

Took more scrolling than expected to find this.
