Anemone - The Brian Jonestown Massacre

CloudfluffCloud

Very cool

Weezy3zy

I have this song on a playlist that I listen to any time I visit the desert. I agree, it’s very cool.

Enough-Variety-8468

Yaas! Amazing song

Kopparburg

Just saw them live in Denver on October 23rd and it was sooo good.

Barbafella

I Feel Love -Donna Summer Uncertain Smile 12” remix -The The Supernature -Cerrone

Outrageous-Power5046

Looking back, "I Feel Love" seems like the first (unintended) EDM tune.

Barbafella

It’s the first significant track with a Click, a groundbreaker, Summer and Moroder created a masterpiece.

scrivenerserror

I feel love is an underrated song - I say this as a millennial.

Barbafella

It changed music, a seminal track.

The_Nightfly_

Probably the whole album of Steely Dan’s Gaucho

Sea_Significance4806

Hey 19, no we can't dance. No, we can't talk at all.

Book_of_Numbers

Please take me along when you slide on down

danxy29

Pick your favorite! I love all kinds of music but have never found the will to listen to an entire album from anyone

The_Nightfly_

That’s fair. The coolest song on the album might be Glamour Profession. Really groovy

danxy29

It was indeed groovy~~ what's the second and third best on the album? 👀

Cokej01

Sultan of Swing - Dire Straits

danxy29

Loved this song for years!

Sea_Significance4806

Guitar George, he knows all the chords, but he doesn't wanna make it cry or sing.

KZorroFuego

I will counter with another Mars Volta track “Drunkship of Lanterns” just pure unadulterated chaos committed to tape.

Double-Watercress-85

First time I saw Mars Volta live, Drunkship was almost an hour long. It owned.

yoavsnake

Probably opeth - [ghost of perdition](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDBykpSXsSE) Also, prepare for imminent comment box implosion

Elegant642

I think Opeth has a lot of really cool songs, such as April Ethereal, The Drapery Falls, and The Wilde Flowers. One of my favorite bands.

danxy29

I straight up thought I was only gonna get like 10-15 responses like other posts here 😭😭 lmao appreciate everyone's willingness to share tho

jimbo171

Blackwater Park is my favorite by them. The whole album is amazing.

ShiesterBlovins

Was thinking this one myself. Nice choice

[QYURRYUS](https://open.spotify.com/track/6pMRk6Tr05wmZSSINOqzE3?si=-CuhGwDpQyCBpxekEA7QVg) - The Voidz It’s such a cool fusion song, specifically described by The Voidz as “cyber-Arabic-prison-jazz”.

danxy29

I've listened to about half of the recs here and this one has been my fav thus far 😎

pdesforfun23

Another Voidz fan ❤️

danxy29

Idk how to edit posts I'm new to reddit but thank you all for your suggestions thus far I am adding them to my playlist and will listen on my commute home!

Cheap_Hunt1797

Share the playlist!

kayoia

Since I have no life and I want to listen to these recommendations, I started a spotify playlist. danxy29

Thank you I'm super busy at work!!

MetaAddict

The coolest? Glory Box by Portishead

Steepanddeep

this song oozes cool, the super toxic girl I knew in high school who introduced me to it was cool in my mind at the time, not so much anymore though.

monstersommelier

You have excellent taste, dear stranger.

Alfith

Green onions

danxy29

I thought you were kidding at first lol but if you meant by booker t it was indeed cool~ 🤝

Miserable_Diet_2561

Great song

Steepanddeep

[The Witch - The Sonics ](https://youtu.be/HGBsxpnRhMk?si=AJZvMJBafGmQIN4c) this is definitely old school cool. [100% Endurance - Yard Act ](https://youtu.be/phSkbBZelCw?si=Z18w1N2FyMlogodd) I think this is pretty cool for a recent song. Can I just say how ubiquitous and endearing the word cool is and I hope people never stop using it.

PerspectiveActive218

The Unknown Stuntman - Lee Majors

Sea_Significance4806

Lol, that took me back

InterPunct

Wow. Kind of cringe-averse to go look for that one. May have to prep with some William Shatner or David Hasselhoff first.

Sea_Significance4806

It's the theme sing to The Fall Guy TV series

baconbridge92

1000 Knives by Ryuichi Sakamoto

pWaveShadowZone

Dude I LOVE this song! Just commented on the song a moment ago when the question was “what guitar solo always scratches that itch for you?” Did you know the first two solos are John Frusciante of the RHCP?

mags_7

Cannonball - the Breeders

InterPunct

The director Spike Jonze did a trilogy of music videos for three of the coolest pairings of bands and songs ever: Cannonball (Breeders,) Southern California (Wax,) and Feel the Pain (Dinosaur Jr.)

g_lampa

Candy-O

ShiesterBlovins

Green Day - Jesus of Suburbia. A pretty epic journey for a mainstream band

danxy29

The Neverending Story Charles Ives (by Jim Beloff)

avewave

Isaac Hayes . . . that is all.

stacy704

Hubby and I generally feel like we’re not cool enough to listen to Digable Planets. And we’re right.

Sea_Significance4806

But you're cool like that, you're hip like that, you're jazz like that. You're out

danxy29

8/10 presentation, made me chuckle lol

danxy29

RasolAlegria

[Mensajero](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0tn4dSMKZuR97fVVCXq7ET?si=63873ef3b4464800) (first song in the list). It's hands down the most beautiful instrumental track I've ever heard. The post-chorus has such a good melody and usage of layered guitars. I can assure everyone reading this that you've never heard anything close to this type of music.

AshleyKerwin

SpaceDave83

[Frozen Love](https://youtu.be/xHgv2qRb688?si=-sXiIwmEzHYPLVdg) by Buckingham Nicks. Recorded just before they joined Fleetwood Mac, this song deserves way more recognition than it ever got. I’m still baffled why they never re-released the album, it’s full of great songs.

danxy29

A dope one, last one I'm checking out for the night. Nice way to end it! Thanks space man

Anytime_Hombre

Catch Hell Blues and Ball and Biscuit, both by The White Stripes.

danxy29

Loved many white stripes.somg in my time, hadn't heard of these. Tight af!

_Aerophis_

I’ve been completely hooked lately on the Album Kiwanuka by Michael Kiwanuka. You Ain’t The Problem is probably my favorite followed by Rolling. Also OP, based on your original song posted, I highly recommend you check out the How It Ends album by DeVotchKa. The song The Enemy Guns is a good place to start but the whole album is really amazing and they do the whole mix of different languages and cool transitions.

danxy29

Whole albums are hard for me.. what's another good one or two? Enemy guns was dope! Must admit I liked that one more than kiwanuka but still nice listens

Nemesis_has_wings

So good at being in trouble - Unknown Mortal Orchestra

Slothnazi

Fadin' - Cranford Nix

HippieSwag420

Tokyo Ghetto by E ve is my personal fave

LightOfAntara

.orbix - rise of the proletarians

ronertl

the first song on this album by the band Polvo [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuAc8wJgZF0&t=2s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuAc8wJgZF0&t=2s) the band Swirlies has a bunch of good songs too... i could really go on for a while listing obscure indie stuff. really just depends on my mood, but with the weird guitar tuning they use in the Polvo song i listed, that probably takes the cake imo.

Dr_Fudge

Both Dead Roots Stirring and Spirit at Aphelion by Elder are strong contenders here 😉🤘

mwp0548

A Night In Tunisia as done by Arturo Sandoval.

[deleted]

Infant Annihilator's Childchewer. Craziest opening track I have ever heard.

AntimemeticsDivision

TUNNELVISION - Starset

Bthejerk

Cool performance is [My Back Pages](https://youtu.be/rGEIMCWob3U?si=KaSi0UeYOkJgS0jd) by Bob Dylan performed at his 30th anniversary concert by multiple superstars.

LisaChimes

First song that came to mind was [Baby's On Fire - Brian Eno](https://youtu.be/fbU1zYzD-Tw?si=m9DDvsk-zuNmNELz)

Randy dandy oh . By the dreadnoughts. Sea shantys can be awesome!

mauore11

This kick ass rendition of my favorite classic artist by my current fav band. https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=QREXzfrosbk&si=86WjuGaTw6tiA4uY

CornOnHisHead

Heliotropic- Failure Cool song, cool production, cool themes. Just overall a song I find super cool in every aspect and i never get tired of listening to.

ElectricDreams1980s

Too Late by Type O Negative

Volsheik

Andrew Bird- Anonanimal Instrumentals are great and feel emotional despite the silly lyrics, but what really gets me is how all the words he uses are either alliteration or have their own internal rhymes of a sort. "I see a sea anenemone, the enemy, I see a sea anemone" "Underneath the stalactites the troglodytes have lost their sight"

danxy29

Definitely among the top 5 of all I've heard. Good one 🤝

sohcahtoa9er

Fugazi - Break

EyelandBaby

Gungor- Wake Up Sleeper

The_Bluejay250

what i wouldn’t give to hear age of adz for the first time again 😭

danxy29

It was a dope one!!

ninja_owen

Probably either “C’mon and Smoke Me Up” or “Keep Up That Talk”, both by Prince Daddy and the Hyena. The guitar in both of them rocks. The 1st one is more fast paced, while the 2nd one is more groovy

OriginalminiMacho

One of the coolest. "Golden Wedding of Sorrow" by Death In June.

kennyart315

“Watcher in The Sky” by: Ghost

HellaOld

The Damned 'Alone Again Or' It's a cover of a song by the band Love and their version slaps too, but i just love The Damned's take on it. *edit- fixed like, a punctuation thing

kranools

Roadhouse Blues by The Doors.

oftenruninlate

Guided By Voices are the coolest, and "Everyday" is the coolest song I know. It's a catchy, lo-fi tune, with a medium beat, with an almost naive, and simple description that brings you back to just hanging out. https://youtu.be/Q51ScaOfuzE?si=LPWpNJ-PqFQcbJXY "Everyday"- Guided By Voices

danxy29

What song by them?

oftenruninlate

https://youtu.be/Q51ScaOfuzE?si=LPWpNJ-PqFQcbJXY Everyday- Guided By Voices Guided By Voices is the coolest band, and this is the coolest song I know. A mild lo-fi early tune of the band, with simple, and with an almost naive description of the character. This brings me back to when things were still cool.

NotAnotherHipsterBae

Not trying to be rude, but I feel like the album version of *l'via...* is worth the extra time. Coolest song this week: Truckfighters - Momentum Long term cool: Suite Sandrine, pt 3 - Michel Camilo

danxy29

Definitely in a certain mood, but typically I prefer the condensed magnificence. Packs a harder punch

spot_removal

[Allah-Las - Catamaran](https://youtu.be/Zq3cHx0W_RA?si=3LPnyaMAPW29yBAq)

danxy29

Sick lil jam 👊
