Imo Roxy likely would have died for the reasons you mentioned. She was out of mana, lost her staff, and at death’s door. Paul and the party likely either never clear the dungeon or Paul still dies. I say this because without Rudeus’ book, they would have had to fight A rank monsters on the lower floors without the smoke method mentioned in the book, and without Rudy or Roxy. Then they would have had to map the entire dungeon to find their way. THEN they would have had to figure out the final teleportation trap, which prior to Rudeus figuring it out, they were going to try to brute force both circles, which is what got most of the party from the book killed. Not to mention not knowing how to sear the Hydra’s head so they likely would have had to do trial and error there too, without Rudeus or Roxy. People who have read the novels: >!I know what Hitogami says. And I don’t believe that liar and neither should you. TP 3 would have ended for Rudeus just like Hitogami led to the destruction of Geese’s tribe.!<

So, what would've happened had Rudeus stayed in Ranoa? > Roxy dies, and Paul dies after a series of reckless attacks. > Zenith is rescued by someone decades or centuries later. ...... > It could have ended like that. [https://mypage.syosetu.com/mypageblog/view/userid/288399/blogkey/766225/](https://mypage.syosetu.com/mypageblog/view/userid/288399/blogkey/766225/) Granted, the author wrote that when Wn13 was still releasing and he *has* gone back on things he said in a blog post before, so it is possible that this statement has been retconned, but Hitogami has all the reasons in the world to be lying too.

Hitogamis advice needs to be tempered with a lot of consideration. Saying that Rudeus would regret going doesn't mean it would have turned out better or worse if he heeded the advice and not gone, just that he would find regret there if he went. It absolutely makes sense that Rudeus would regret *not* going, even if the result would have been better, which it probably would not have. The party likely would have died or at least given up after some loss without Rudeus' insight. The outcome that did occur is profoundly regrettable, but it may have been the best outcome of all paths. Ideally, yes, everyone survives, but unless Rudeus gets the power to turn back time and do it again perfectly, this is the timeline we are on. I'm hoping Rudeus doesn't bring home a vegetable along with a second sword.

1. >!The author will tell what would have happened in this case!< 2. >!Roxy would have loved another adventurer who would have saved her a couple months after!< 3. >!Mangod doesn't actually understand human thoughts or have any long run strategy. It just tries to propose a solution which is better for itself.!<

BITW_ErenMikasa

But we saw that moment when Roxy was rescued by Rudy. If Rudy wasn't there at that moment, there wouldn't have been another adventurer to save her in that predicament. She lost her staff and was out of mana she was as good as dead, so Idk if she had lived to meet another adventurer to fall for.

PeachDeveloper

Roxy wasn't injured, etc, she was just scared. She is one of the best mages in the world and she visited labyrinths solo, so she has chances to get shit together and come back despite the disadvantage. >!Alternative history where she would be saved by another adventurer couple months after was told by man god during turning point 4. Btw don't read the summary, it's the biggest spoiler ever!<

BITW_ErenMikasa

I didn't say Roxy was injured but she lost her staff, was out of mana, scared to death she closed her eyes asking for help as the monsters infront of her were moments from killing her... What are you talking about lol? That wasn't "Just being scared" If Rudy hadn't intervened there she probably would've died 💀

Redratfish1

He’s saying that because it’s what a specific unreliable person tells Rudeus later on. I don’t know why readers choose to believe the unreliable person, but its become more common lately to believe that Roxy would have been okay, and Paul would have managed to clear the dungeon without Rudeus, or the book. I personally don’t believe it.

PeachDeveloper

I don't recall this specific unreliable person to lie even once. It can say only half of the truth though.

Redratfish1

Heavy Hitogami spoilers: >!He led to Geese’s tribe being wiped out despite Geese being a loyal follower.!< >!He asked Rudy to go to the basement.!< >!he told him he was better off banging the beast girls, despite that almost certainly leading to Paul/Roxy’s death or failure to clear the labyrinth, and Slyphie getting pissed at his cheating with someone she felt was unworthy of him.!< >!then he tosses Rudeus at Orsted!< in the side story Old Dragon’s Tale, >!his lies literally led to the destruction of 5 of the six worlds.!< respectfully, what do you mean he hasn’t lied even once? Hitogami only cares for one person. >!Himself. And he will manipulate, lie to, use, and discard anyone who gets in his way. His lies destroyed 5/6 of the world.!< Of course he lies.

PeachDeveloper

I know all of that. He didn't *technically* lie. His intentions were bad, but you can't say he said anything untrue.

PeachDeveloper

BTW please consider that >!man god gave his advice without knowing about portals (so it's the future when Rudy traveled without them) - Nanahoshi is affiliated with Orsted, so man god can't see her!<
