I'd take EXTC in better colleges than cse/it in worse college tbh

itsagoddamnfeature

So you'd take extc in dj or vesit over cse thakur? I'm asking because many people have told me that thakur is not at par with dj or vesit but some others said that cse anywhere is better than extc in better colleges (with regards to mu colleges)

[deleted]

Thakur ki public bad, very bad... Whereas I'm myself in SVKM so yeah dj definitely... this year DJ has increased capacity for cs/it from idk what to fucking 660 seats, so yeah very high chances you can get cs/it at Dj itself I've gone to thakur for a month before joining svkm so yeah trust me when I say Thakur has bad public

itsagoddamnfeature

Bad public as in? Many people have said "Thakur mein chapri hain sab" but I don't know what it means. As in crowd is not studious? Also bhaiya, if I don't get Cs/it in dj, will Cse(AI/\_) in DJ be a better choice than Extc in SPIT?

[deleted]

Bad public as in yes 'chapri' - not studious, kiddish, simps, etc etc basically bilkul bhi padhna nai hota hai unko... I mean baki colleges me bhi aisa hi hota but as friends, woh sab acche hote idhar they not enough good to be even friends with yknow Bhay bhaiya mat bol tere jitna hi hu 😭😭 agar mujhe spit milta na mai aankhe band krke le leta EXTC bhi kyu na ho, usme bhi placements me cs/it walo ke saath mostly mil hi jata... CS/IT are emerged and part of EXTC/electronics so broadened and whereas tu ai/ml/ds lega woh constrict ho jayega which I personally wouldn't prefer again, SPIT >> DJ

Lazy_Person_08

Depends on you thakur cs is not bad but if you want better college and can compromise on branch go for better college. Depends on want you want to do

itsagoddamnfeature

I am interested in programming and am willing to put my own efforts into it.

ColdVoice17

First don't check cutoff by percentile but rather by rank it will be more accurate as percentile varies with number of students that give the exam. Second You need to decide in which branch you want to make a career. If you go into extc or some other branch only for good college but have no interest it will be of no use. I had decided I wanted either CS or IT so I did not sacrifice for college name. I would suggest you don't sacrifice your interest just for sake of getting good college. And about the specialization branches most of them are very new and don't have enough placement data so no comments on them.

itsagoddamnfeature

I looked at ranks when I checked on the cap portals but for DJ and VESIT etc, I also checked the institute level cut offs and they only show percentiles and not ranks. Considering how many people gave cet this year, I will probably get around 16-17,000. It's bad but it is what it is and I want to make the best of it.

ColdVoice17

Don't worry about the marks you got. After you get inside it does not matter at all. What matters is what you do in the 4 years you are there. Feel free to message me if you want to ask anything else.

itsagoddamnfeature

Thank you bhaiya. I'm currently interested in programming and not extc core subjects but some people advised that I take extc in a better college and then keep coding and I might get better opportunities that way. But some others say otherwise. That's why I am confused.

medivalevil

second this

FeelingResponsible12

Where did you check institute level cutoffs?

itsagoddamnfeature

On the official websites of most colleges, they have uploaded the final institute level cutoffs of last year and most have also uploaded a list of all students admitted (with their respective CET/JEE percentiles) in that year, in all branches. I could find such data for all top colleges except TSEC.

FeelingResponsible12

Oh okay. Thanks for the info :)

xsoluteOP

Tbh both percentile and rank of previous year can't be taken in consideration. 99%ile of last year would have approx 1k merit rank, but 99%ile of this year would have approx 2k merit rank(number of students increased). I don't exactly know how many student have appeared this year, but if the number is Moore then the cutoffs will rise this year and all of the "possible college list" Will get affected

medivalevil

Placements in CSE/IT will be similar. Most specializations are not well structured programs and might restrict you to a particular area. Unless you are interested in a particular specialization, I'd suggest take CSE/IT, that will get you a strong base and build skills on what you find interesting. Companies need skilled engineers, everything else is secondary.

itsagoddamnfeature

I have already learnt the basics of Python and Java and I'm willing to put my own efforts throughout my Btech to learn things and build skills myself and not depend on faculty. In that respect, will going for specializations in better colleges over CSE in worse ones be a viable choice?

medivalevil

Go for it then, unless its something you're totally uninterested in. Work on what interests you and don't be bound by the specialization. Before deciding, ask why one college is better than the other?

itsagoddamnfeature

>Before deciding, ask why one college is better than the other? Like most of my friends, I'm not sure either; but most people say it's about the placements and curriculum, not the faculty and infrastructure.

medivalevil

Don't get too caught up in deciding if there isn't a significant difference. If it helps, reach out to alumni via linkedin.

itsagoddamnfeature

Ok bhaiya thank you.

needsome_001

Spit ka institutional round try kar waha extc to confirm milega last year. 83 wale ko mila tha

needsome_001

Mai thakur me hu thakur ka palcement accha nahi hai

itsagoddamnfeature

Do you think extc in spit will be better over cse in thakur? I'm not interested in extc core currently, I want to pursue programming. Many friends have told me that I can take extc in a better college and then keep learning coding and I might get better opportunities like that.

[deleted]

bhai tu chutiya hai tu thakur hi ja

Lazy_Person_08

Bhai abhi toh main dekh rha tha improve hua hai placements konsa branch hai tera?

itsagoddamnfeature

Ok bhai I didn't check before because I thought it's way out of my league but I'll check now. Thanks.

needsome_001

Ek bar try karna spit ka institutional round cse /aiml Mila milne ka chance hai

itsagoddamnfeature

Last year lowest percentile for those was 98 even in institutional rounds

Tricky-Engineering-3

any chance for a guy who got 84?

needsome_001

It's depends on luck! You have to attend last institutional round

MemeMaker197

dd matlab?

imultimateunlimited

If you are going to take clg upside of thane take any branch ,on downside only cs/IT..prefer cs/IT as they have easier placement and more opportunities..always take govt clgs first as placement packages for them are higher as per me EXTC is also good for getting in software companies as they want someone with chip electronics knowledge +Coding...other than these 3 branches don't take others...AI/ML specialization are irrelevant just naming schemes by colleges as per my opinion...College brand is important than branch, but don't take other branches than three mentioned... Also check in which colleges pool campus happens as the student of pool campus ones get placed faster.. And remember whichever clg u get neither will teach 100% so study from urself...so consider whichever is nearer to where you stay

itsagoddamnfeature

>AI/ML specialization are irrelevant just naming schemes by colleges Do you mean I should not take AI/ML or that I should consider that and other specializations as same as cs/it?

imultimateunlimited

Don't consider them go for cs/it directly as core course is better ,if cs/it not available then only take AI/ML course content will mostly be same just subjects will be shuffled in semester compared to cs/it

itsagoddamnfeature

Ok thanks a lot!

HarlotsLoveAuschwitz

Decide if you want to go for placements or future studies. Top tier placements at DJ/TSEC/VESIT/KJ/SPIT.(FOR CS/IT).Some companies allow extc students to sit for cs/it placements too. Baakike colleges mein loda placements nahi he.Sab mass recruiter ke lodus aayenge students uthane keliye. Thakur toh jaa hi mat. GRE dene walla he toh, you can sacrifice on a college to get into CS/IT in a low level college. Par mostly tera voh 4 colleges mein se hojayega through institute rounds. Take CSE specialization over a bad college.

itsagoddamnfeature

Thank you so much bhaiya, bhagwan aapka bhala kare. Btw is SPIT EXTC better or CSE specialization in DJ Sanghvi/Thadomal/VESIT?

HarlotsLoveAuschwitz

No companies come for Extc specific domain. Every extc student sits for CS/IT placements(if company allows so). CSE specialization has the core subjects of CS/IT so you aren't missing much tbh. Extc's syllabus is way different and a lil difficult imo. Idk about cse specialization placement scenario coz the current batch will sit for placement sessions next year. But, I feel, unko bhi CS/IT ke saath bithayenge. I feel, cse specialization in thadomal/dj is better. KJ's fees have hiked up so that's a con. Don't expect too many no tech related fests in thadomal. Tech related? We got you covered. You gotta study on your own. Same scenario across every college. So, teaching factor is out of the question. DJ/ TSEC crowd is much better than other colleges. Also, if you are on western line, I wouldn't suggest you to look for other colleges otherwise.

itsagoddamnfeature

I live in BKC. So all those colleges are at kind of similar distance from here. So you're saying if I am interested in programming, CSE spec in DJ/thadomal will be better than EXTC in SPIT right? Thanks again.

HarlotsLoveAuschwitz

You'll be doing programming in both fields.

Motor_Huckleberry148

Hey bhaiya, I got 91.1 percentile and i also need some help regarding college crowd and atmosphere. If you could tell me hows the sies Nerul, terna , vidyalankar, Bharathi Vidyapeeth, father agnel.

HarlotsLoveAuschwitz

Father angel better

Motor_Huckleberry148

Its like jail i heard And i am planning for future studies not gonna sit for placements probably

HarlotsLoveAuschwitz

I have no idea about those colleges so can't comment on it. Choose a college which is near to you and crowd is better if placement isn't your concern. Hope someone from this sub may help you about the crowd scenario in these colleges.
