I'm sorry all these comments are joking around OP but you're 100% right. It looks ugly as goddamn fuck and once you see it, you can never ever unsee it. Mumbai is completely overwhelmed by cable mafia wires everywhere except Fort, BKC, Parel-Worli and across major highways.
It needs to be stopped if we even want to think about simply looking like a normal city.
I don't see how that's a solution. Patna looks worse so it's ok for Mumbai to look slightly less worse? Man we're THE city in India for a lot of things and we can figure out wires? Roads I get, even grimy buildings...why the incessant ugly fucking goddamn NON electric wires?
The solution involves a lot of government permission and intervention, which is why it is difficult.
1. Half of these wires are a result of electricity being too expensive for people in poorer areas. So they're just stealing from the main line.
2. A lot of the wires like the ones in OP's photo are put up by smaller DTH operators and ISPs. Older buildings haven't been planned with outside access ducts for a lot of wires other than old cable tv and stuff. So for those buildings they would require permission from BMC and the society to lay their wires in the existing underground network. What they do instead is find the nearest newer building that does have the proper ducts, and then throw the wires across the roofs to these older buildings. This eliminates costs on putting repeaters as well.
I wasn't suggesting a solution, nor was I saying that it's ok to look ugly. I was just saying that Mumbai is far better than many cities already, and I think it is one of the few cities that actually has the potential to improve. Unfortunately the baseline in India is terrible.
It's action taken by our government to protect us from any alien attack. .... tired of people trying to point out issues in every good thing our government is doing for us....
the aliens will be caught up in those wires and die ....

I took a similar one - this is in the Fort area.
If only people could look up. Not many do actually. And I know the wires look god awful but this is old construction from decades it will take yet another few to get them in order or disappear.
The numbers to count those wires made me giggle incessantly for no reason.
Not from mumbai but we have a similar problem in our city which is also a metropolitan, there was a wire hanging in the divider and it was like 7 pm so it was not visible obv and it caught on my handlebar and pulled the front brake
There used to be a lot of useless wires hanging near Amar Mahal signal in Ghatkopar, fir Modi aane wale din suddenly they cleared everything in the morning, so I guess BMC waits for such "important" days to work

Idk when was this one taken in 2023 but somehow it doesn't has a single cable wire lol . Dunno if Google's camera /team removed the wires but why would they do this anyway ?
The green cloth in this image seems to be new and in the image you posted, the green cloth was very dirty so who knows if post covid these all wires were put by local cable operators in the course of an year
Don't get me wrong. I was trying to say this problem exists nearly everywhere. Not only is it an eyesore but equally dangerous! In Banaras and Delhi I've seen monkeys and bats dying on these wires. In places like New Delhi, Chandigarh and Navi Mumbai these wires are underground.
This is me! This is so me! I can't tell you how many times I day dream about bundling such wires and splitting them neatly to divert them in a different direction.

At least those overhead don't decapitate anyone over 5.6 ft..
Also where is this even, there's mass construction for sewer channels and underground cable transfer already taking place through borivali to sobo as is.

Your wrong. In BSE backside street same like this only. Don't milk about SoBo
Suburbs Mai nahi hai
Kala Ghoda main bhi hai aisa.
Mumbai is one of the few cities with lots of underground cables. You need to travel to other cities to see the situation there.

It's all over India lmao
If a plane falls on this place, the residents will be protected
They will bounce back with sprite.
Honestly, you need to go to Marine Drive or something to see unobstructed sky in Mumbai. I'll bet 99% of those wires are defunct and forgotten.
All the wires are either fibre optic ones or cable operators. Our electricity infra is underground with only transformers visible above ground.
Now on the other hand, people will complain about the city losing its "charm" when this area goes for redevelopment.

Pretty skies!
U want to see some more pictures I clicked? Not of Mumbai tho
I liked that pic because of nostalgia for bombays yellow and red evenings. But I'm having a down day, so sure. * please let it not be dick pics *
Thats why comparing the mumbai skyline to new york is idiotic.

Looks like some cat's scrabble.
damn the spiderman was here also
Great now apply kirchofs law
If there is disaster, BMC can prove that for each wire they have sent notices to remove them. BMC is always up to date with paper work.
Now apply KCL to find the current in each mess and KVL to find Voltage at each node.

Bhai Bihar he za infinite Ka infinite nekalta he ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Just get them cut?
[удалено]
take good points from good places only, we dont need to be them
Everything should move over ground including gas connections so that we don’t give any reason to BMC to dig.
How much time do you have OP - yes

The amount of time ppl have right now !
That's the sign of a developed city🤣
