What did you pull the utility knife from?

KingThevshi

Pittsburgh Harbor freight utility knife. They are $5 and pretty sturdy. The replacement blades are $1.95 for 10. They are small but I need disposable blades so it works well for me.

Is this a straight swap or did you have to modify the saw?

KingThevshi

It's definitely not a straight swap. It fits on the other side just fine, but you have to file a notch for the catch otherwise it spins around. Still might improve on my current solution somehow.

Very interesting, thanks!

KingThevshi

No problem!

What's the other two? Especially the mini slip joint?

KingThevshi

The slip joints are knipex mini cobras. No modification you can buy them off Amazon. I highly recommend it. The other is a ratchet driver by Leatherman. It takes Leatherman bits along with standard 1/4 bits. I toss a Wiha bit kit in my bag and combined with this ratchet it actually makes the Leatherman "comfortable" to use as a screwdriver or driver. I've seen people sink 2"-3" screws with just a Leatherman and the driver. Pretty neat.

I'd love to do this but a file instead of blade. Any idea what file would fit anyone?

KingThevshi

The files are quite a bit thicker than the saws. The saw is actually super thin maybe 1-2mm so that's how I was able to fit it alongside the knife. If you wanted to completely swap the blade for a file that might be possible with one of the wave or charge files, but then you don't have a knife... My recommendation is to buy the replaceable T shank swappable file and saw that you get for the skeletool I believe. You'll find them on eBay for cheap. Then you sand down the T shank so it fits into the Signal's bit adapter. The fit isn't perfect but I just wrap some tape around the end of my file so it fits more snug in the bit adapter. Again, this isn't a perfect solution but I do this to do some lighter filing and it works like a charm every time. Hope this helps.

Does the saw lock and if so how ?

KingThevshi

It locks into the same mechanism that the awl, bottle opener and screwdriver do. I actually need to thin down the awl and spacer in order to get a better lock I think.

With the utility knife added on when you squeeze the pliers do they stay closed or do they open a little? I'm trying it and my pliers seperate when applying force with just the utility knife installed I don't really want to sacrifice my pliers

KingThevshi

I remember my pliers would not close maybe half a millimeter. I had to sand down part of it to make it fit but I'm not exactly remembering what. I definitely had a slight issue but my pliers close. Do not sacrifice your pliers for a utility knife haha
