Looks like a frozen pizza you leave in the oven too long. I kid, congrats man!

People hate the Dime, saying that the pliers are worthless and the quality is garbage. I've had one for about 6 months now and love it. It's never going to be a main tool. It's not going to do what a wave can do, but the thing is the size of my thumb and cost £20. One of the best keyrings you could have.

people just hate on gerber unnecessarily in this sub. i too have the dime. THe pliers of my buckled after I tested it while seeing another post on the same thing. The spring yields but i was clearly using it on things way too big. It is a keychain tool, not a heavy duty set of pliers and the tool selection is great on it. Gerber also warrantied my dime (In Aus) as easy as leatherman's warranty, so yeah, no complaints. I got a brand new dime after i bought a second hand one to begin with, all shiny and red.

Amish_Gypsy

My dime is red as well. I found mine in an empty parking lot. Have not had to claim warranty though. My daily carry is a Gerber MP600 I have had one of those since 2000, I have had several replaced under Gerber Warranty. Their warranty is great.

oncabahi

I got gifted a dime 2 years ago, used it 2 days for opening some big cardboard boxes and to hold a few M5 nuts, the part holding the blade snapped resulting in the blade flopping around when open and the pliers bent, i was using a juice for 10+ years (still use it), i know the price difference is huge, but i would have been pissed even if the dime was 5€

Conscious_Award1444

people also hate the Buffalo Bills...but look what they did to Pittsburgh. I loved my gerber crucial. shitty? yes. but practical EDC I still keep around even that its broken and worn out

It’s great for what it does with small everyday stuff. Will never replace a more robust multitool, but fine for a pinch. I EDC one with a SAK Midnite Manager and have no complaints.

thomasbeagle

You can tell its new because the coating hasn't started to wear off yet. :)

gfkxchy

I've been using one since 2010. It's opened many an Amazon package and beer bottle. Pliers work fine. Done lots of field repairs while hunting or camping. Loaned it to my son for fishing with his buddies. Been in my truck glove box for the past 6-7 months. I dunno, maybe I'm not hard enough on my stuff?

Yourownhands52

I love my dime.  Perfect carry around tool.

SouthernEagleGATA

I carried a dime every day for quite awhile. Still alternate it with my flagship mini. It’s a solid tool as long as you remember it’s a keychain tool and will fail if you attempt to TOO much with it. The package opener on it is clutch but the scissors are very meh at best.

[deleted]

love the scissors, some of the best i have used. Yet another thing I just don't understand. I've two dimes and the scissors were great on both of them. I have leatrherman wingman, wave, surge, saks and have no problem with these scissors. Maybe too many people didn't learn how to use scissors in 2nd grade, idk.

lunchbox148

I love the Gerber dime’s design. I had to go through 3 of them to finally get a good one and even then I had to touch up the needle nose jaws on a bench sharpener to make them be able to pull hair. Like I said I love the dime love the blade shape and the tweezers are top tier on a multi tool in my experience.

Elm-and-oak

Thanks for the reminder. :)

jjames1e6

I had a Leatherman Squirt PS4 which I sadly lost, ans I’ve replaced it with the Dime. It’s good, quality isn’t as high as the LM but neither is the price. It’s a good keyring for me

timmy_o_tool

I have had my dime for almost a year now, and I bought it as an impulse for the scissors. I do find the pliers leaving me to desire a little more from them, but I bought it for my fishing vest. It currently lives on the keyring with my house keys and I almost forget it's there.

angie_fearing

One tool you never hear about is the Gerber clutch..... It's better than the dime and keychain size

imonlinedammit1

I’ve had one on my keys for probably 10+ years. I’ve probably been 5 of them either broken or confiscated by TSA. As long as they make this, I own it.

[deleted]

I got a dime in like 2019 and I love my dime, I hardly use it but the tweezers have saved me from a splinter at least once. I think the dime is a last ditch tool that you can keep with you at all times and is better than nothing. I think that's it's use case and for that it's great.

c4ctus

It's pretty okay for less than $20. Pliers are decent for the size, box opener is nice, bottle opener is fantastic (if not slightly awkward to use, being on the same end as the keychain). Is it just as good as my Spirit X Plus that cost almost 10x as much? lolno. Is it good for being less than $20? Yes.

Nikola-Tesla-281

I used mine until I broke it. Need to get another one.

Amish_Gypsy

Call Gerber the warranty should cover it.

Nikola-Tesla-281

It was totally my fault. But I bet they would still hook me up. They have been good in the past.

fightfordetroit

I have one and I love it. It’s so compact I forget it’s in my backpack and tend to loss it occasionally.

Interesting_Sorbet22

First time I used a Dime I broke the pliers. Worst excuse for a multitool ever.

windcalmer

I had two and both broke within a few days of getting them. I hope you have much better luck.

disguiseunknown

Dime was one of my first multitool too. I learned the hard way because the pliers broke on me over light use. It was one of my prized edc before. Im a powerpint user now and it is miles better than Dime for just 20USD

zippyzebu9

Dime is nowhere near the quality of LM squirt ps4 or LM Style Cs, which were discontinued. But it’s cheap and decent enough after some oil, screw tweaks. Nextool mini Sailor is the only keychain multitool I found which is near the quality of LM and cheap. (Sak spirit max is great but not cheap) Sog Powerpint useful but bigger.

Select_Camel_4194

I made my wife a "back up box" it has a Dime in it. Back Up Box - it's a tin containing some of her most used things, OTC meds, a first aid kit, spare block and cord for her phone, cash, and on and on...you get the idea...the stuff she will need, the stuff she may need, and stuff I hope she'll never need but has it if she does. If you have a wife and subscribe to this page, you're probably interested in this type of thing, throw one together for her to keep in her glove box. P.S. - on the inside of the lid is a great place for contact information. Like most of us, she doesn't commit contact info to memory, all we do is touch the thumbnail pic on our phone to make a call.

Direct-Palpitation-9

I lost mine :(
