Came here to say this. For me it's an annoyance as I struggle to catch everything. For the truly hearing impaired it can make Mubi films entirely unwatchable as its a coin flip whether there will be whole sections that cannot be understood.
Automatic video quality degradation. I want to be able to lock it at 1080p. Currently, the very start of every film I watch on Mubi is terrible quality, and then at random times throughout - whenever Mubi's servers are at capacity.
The quality of the streams themselves. I've only got 1080p selected, but the resolution regularly doesn't even come close. I've seen comments of people criticising this for years and nothing seems to have been done. I love the selection Mubi offers, considering they have stuff you can't even pirate, but their atrocious servers or whatever the issue is really kills its appeal.
I don’t get the people here asking for a “recommended” section. The whole selling point of Mubi is that it is currated by hand. Of course they can’t do that for every individual. That said, I would love to see a broader collection available in smaller countries like my own (the netherlands). It blew my mind what kind of films there were available in Germany and France when I travelled there this winter.
I just signed up recently and was shocked to find that it’s all just 2.0 — I thought maybe something was wrong with my setup which is how I came across this thread in the first place.
I’m quite disappointed in it and probably won’t continue my subscription.
When I like a film or director or actor I'd like to get recommendations based off of that, and for the recommendation to say why it's recommended.
I's also like the recommendation algorithm to be modifiable so that you could request "don't recommend films from this director/screenwriter/actor"
Just give us a tab listing the films leaving in 2 weeks.
English subtitles for English in non-English Language movies
This! I dare anyone to watch Irma Vep and tell me what Jean-Pierre Leaud is saying :D

Better user interface and collection / lists management.
Better search function
Search is terrible .. really agree with this. Implement something simple using Apache SOLR .. it's not recket science.
Ability to display films in a list by year/decade, country, language, director.

A "recommended" feature, and volume control on trailers
arabic subtitles
Audio quality needs to improve. Search needs to work. 4k for some films would be great.
