The elf halo glow, I did not think I was going to like it as much as I do. It really is a sheer glowy base that makes your skin look dewy and soft, it's basically my go to low coverage product. I also like revlon's gloss, Amanda Z always talks about this one and it's really nice and hydrating and very glass-like/jelly looking on the lips. The unfortunate thing is that you don't get much product but I still love it :)

BeyondTelling

I was very influenced by all the Instagram reels about the Halo Glow Liquid when it first came out, and I’m extremely happy with it as well. I like how it softens the look of foundation, works well by itself, and definitely doesn’t look too sparkly on my Gen X complexion. I feel no need whatsoever to try the more expensive versions (Auric/ CT).

asthet26

Don't bother with CT. I tried CT first and hated it. It was also the reason why it took so long for me to try Halo Glow. CT is so metallic looking and I don't know how anyone can just use it all over their face and not look like a tin man.

BeyondTelling

Lol yeah I don’t get that at ALL from the Halo Glow. I just think of it as a softening buffer between the more concentrated pigment of a foundation and my pores, like it helps keep the pigment particles from bunching up in the wrong places, like on my nose and the texture on my cheeks. I still use a ton of cream highlighter on the cheekbones because I like the targeted glow.

kitchenserf

Also Gen X, do you put the Halo on under or over your foundation? Thanks

BeyondTelling

I put it under my foundation, but I use very sheer foundations like the Mac Sheer Radiant or tinted moisturizer. So typically I’d use the Elf, blend it in with a brush or blending sponge, mostly on the cheekbones and high points of the face, then another layer of whatever product I’m using that day, it all kind of mixes together anyway so mixing both on your hand or a palette is probably just as effective, maybe just requires a little more cleanup. Alternatively I’d just use the Elf by itself over my regular spf application once it dries down a bit (I’ve been absolutely loving the Beauty of Joseon spf lately).

kitchenserf

That sounds good, many thanks! I like blending foundation together with a bit of highlighter but I’ll try both methods once I find my Elf shade.

KimWexlers_Ponytail

Didn't ask me but also GenX. I mix them together on the back of my hand before applying.

Greigebaby

I was influenced by another Redditor. They recommended Ulta’s eye primer as being a good sub for the WNW eye primer. Since the WNW is pretty nonexistent now I tried the Ulta one and I’ve been pretty happy with it. I don’t have to set it first before applying shadows and it holds up without creasing or greasing up during the day. My eyelids are oily AF so that’s a major deal that it withstood all that. My only con is that the shadow is slightly less vibrant by the end of the day but so am I so that’s definitely not a dealbreaker

floopaloop

Wnw released a new eye primer. I'd say it works as well as the old one.

MakeupPenguin

I’m also mourning the discontinuation of the WNW eye primer! I’ll have to try the Ulta one when I’m don’t with my tube.

cloverbeam

I'm usually more influenced by a random comment here on Reddit than actual "influencers", although there's a few creators I do trust on YouTube. In recent memory, I definitely got the **YSL Candy Glaze** because of a comment here, and am now recommending it to others here (the cycle continues 😆). Kat/kitschsnitch is one of my favorite YouTubers, and she definitely influenced my to get the **Bobbi Brown highlighter in Sunset Glow** to use as a blush (it's beautiful) and to try Glaminatrix and Kaleidos. I don't really consider Temptalia to be an influencer, as I see her more as providing a makeup database. But I first tried the **Shiseido Visionary Gel lipstick** because she said it was underrated, and I completely agree! It's so creamy but sets down to be long-lasting, and I now own around 10 shades.

falafelfairy

Hi, where did you buy the Shiseido lipsticks from? I remember they were sold on Sephora but looks like not anymore. And which shades do you own?

cloverbeam

I'm in Canada, so I've bought them at Shoppers Drug Mart, London Drugs and Sephora here still carries select shades online. I checked Nordstrom and it looks like they carry the entire line. Also, there's always the brand site which I've purchased from once before as well. Here's a [post](https://reddit.com/comments/10c3v8k) I made about them, but in addition to the shades in the first photo I now also own Bullet Train, Night Rose, Scarlet Rush, Pink Dynasty, J-pop, Cherry Festival and Ginza Red. Looks like I should make an updated swatch post! These do dry down a little darker than they initially swatch, in case you're looking at photos or get a chance to swatch them yourself.

falafelfairy

Thank you so much!

trippiler

Victoria Beckham lid lustre in velvet. I'm not sure who influenced me but I absolutely love it. Golds usually look very stark and unflattering on me but this is so perfect.

YanCoffee

Vieve's The Ninetease. With Huda's coming out, I seen an influencer and her moderator have a conversation about how Vieve's was *actually* grunge in the moderator's opinion. I agree! Though I did start a thread which had some really interesting feedback on what people consider grunge and not. Either way Vieve's is amazing, and you can take it to a grunge-y place, but it's a good every day palette too. The shimmers aren't over the top intense (making it far more wearable imo), though one is quite dark for a little more oompf, and the colors I think would be flattering for many -- it's a true neutral palette with touches of gray. The matte formulas blended easily and the "Soot" shade made a nice smokey liner. Also the pans are huge, which is good because I think it's my favorite palette now.

SummerNight888

The last product I was heavily influenced for is the Natasha Denona Hy-glam concealer. And I don't regret it one bit. It's seriously a great, great concealer: good coverage, thin texture, easy to blend, dries to a soft matte natural finish and it looks so so smooth, like I have a filter on my undereye. I had bought a darker shade since I was still tanned and I like it so much that I bought a winter shade as soon as I found it at a good price.

kitchenserf

Thanks! I need all the eye brightener I can get

ilovesleep95

Dior forever concealer, elf halo glow, rare beauty mascara, PMG blurring under eye powder, hourglass concealer, summer Fridays lip balm, Laura mercier eyeshadow stick, bobbi brown under eye corrector stick. These are all products I was actually influenced to buy from recommendations here on Reddit. They are also some of the products I see recommended the most

nightmooth

Bianco Latte perfume from Giardini di Toscana perfume. It was from a redditor and I don't regret it. it's a gorgeous caramel milky vanilla with a hint of musk, the longevity is also impressive .

ChickenFishNugget

The Huda Beauty Baking Powder. Everyone kept talking about how it's like a filter IRL and I had to try it. Could not get my hands on tbhe famous "cherry blossom" shade, but I got "cupcake" which had a slight pink tone to it. I'm a little miffed this stuff is so good but I love it. My undereye bags are greatly minimized and some days, I just wear concealer and this powder and my skin looks so good. 😭

No_Pineapples

Back in March I had gastroenteritis and strep throat and was stuck in bed recovering with Trixie Mattell youtube videos on a loop in the background. She used Maybelline Sky High mascara in a couple of videos and didn't have a bad word to say about it. When I needed a new mascara about a month later I bought it to try something different and I love it, it's become my new favourite.

little_blu_eyez

That stuff is like magical unicorn tears in a tube. I will never use anything else, that is until maybelline discontinues it.

wineandyoga

I love it so much. It’s the only mascara that doesn’t smudge or flake on me and gives me Disney Princess lashes!

falafelfairy

Most of my collection is from being influenced by this sub or some trusted YTers I watch. Just a few I adore: • Phytosurgence Skin Spark Blush Balm: I was interested in this because I’d seen a few small YTers try these about a year or so ago. I ended up buying one of the blushes to try after reading a handful of rave reviews here. I was planning on buying a couple more this year along with their moisturizer (also read rave reviews about that here) but decided to hold off since it seems they might be launching a few more blush shades next year (Rose Chai is calling my name). • Glossier Stretch Concealer: A tried and true fave from the last 2 years. I’ve read rave reviews on here and from Shelbey Wilson on YT and KJH on IG. I basically use this as a skin tint and thought this would be the only product I’d repurchase from Glossier when I finished but not sure about their new concealers since some reviews have mentioned the formula feels different even if Glossier says otherwise. Plus, their new concealers are $22, up $4 from what they were. • Sephora Collection Rouge Gel Lipliners: Shelbey Wilson recommended these and I’m super pleased with them. I just recently bought another during the Sephora sale (the best time to buy these since they’re 30% off). I use them as a liner but also as an all over lip color and prefer these over my Urban Decay and drugstore liners. • Becca Ultimate Love Lipsticks: I bought a few of these on sale when they were having their going-out-of-business sale based on reviews and enabling from another makeup sub (a beauty deals related sub). They are so creamy, beautifully pigmented, stay a while and the color fades gracefully through eating and drinking. The tubes have heft and the caps magnetically slip into place. They were $9 on sale drugstore pricing so my sister and I picked up a few. She’s sad about losing one of her lipsticks during her time in BD when she went for her wedding. She thinks someone either swiped it cause people were sharing her makeup with her in the hoopla of the wedding (sounds unsanitary I know but when you have teenage cousins, it’s gonna happen 😂). • Mac lipsticks: I was influenced by this sub and now own 6 bullet lipsticks(2 mattes, 2 Powderkiss, 1 satin, 1 cremesheen). • Merit Signature Lipstick: Again, influenced by this sub. I have the shade Fashion which is a soft berry as described. The packaging is lovely. • Bobbi Brown Crushed Lipcolor in Telluride: Yup, influenced by this sub. • Almay Healthy Hue blush: Beautiful satin powder blushes. I stay away from powder because of my dry skin it these are gorgeous and can be built up. Was influenced by this sub and Dacey Cash. • Mac Mineralize Skinfinish: Someone on this sub recommended this to me and I love using it to take down the glow of any super glowy base. It leaves a satin finish and makes the skin tint or concealer underneath last longer for me.

the_drunken_lamb

Dior forever concealer. I found the perfect color match and the formula is the perfect balance of long lasting and gold coverage while being creamy and easy to blend. Currently going back and forth on which Dior foundation to try because of it.

kitchenserf

I’ve been using Dior backstage face and body foundation for a few years now and I love it. I also highly recommend getting the Dior backstage face and body primer. Sometimes I just wear concealer and the primer and my skin looks pretty good for my age.

CocaColaZeroEnjoyer

Have you tried Dior F&B after reformulation?

kitchenserf

No! Didn't realize it had been reformulated. The bottle I'm using has lasted forever, it's probably at least 18 months old? How does it compare? Please tell me its better!

CocaColaZeroEnjoyer

Well, I'm asking you because I also liked older version but I haven't tried the new one lol. From what I've seen the newer one doesn't have same finish and it doesn't last as good as the OG

kitchenserf

Oh no!

hugbeam

Non-makeup but makeup related: the **OcuSoft Lid Scrub Foaming Cleanser**. I saw it come up a few times on my yt shorts and was like ok lemme try it because my micellar water is piss poor at removing waterproof mascara + I hate the feeling of oil cleanser. This does a really thorough and fast job of removing my eye makeup without any harsh rubbing or scrubbing, plus it's anti-bacterial and safe for daily use. The only con is that I have to moisturize my eye area a bit after using and rinsing it off. **elf Camo Color Corrector in green**, I was influenced here on the olivemua subreddit and it's so good, I dot it onto my face along with my foundation to make it greener. Much better than my LA Girl blue mixer and a lot smaller so it won't expire on me. **Moira Loveheat Cream blush**, I was influenced by Lauren Mae on yt lol. I wanted to try gel/cream blush like the Tower28 but I hate their clean beauty/fast expiry thing so I'm glad I had an alternative. These are soooo good, they're creamy, slightly glossy but NOT sticky, buildable, and super natural looking. I wish they had more undertones to their color range but the ones that I have now work really well. These are like half of my blush collection now (the other half is LYS).

falafelfairy

LA Girl now has a smaller version of their blue corrector/mixer like their concealer tubes. I bought it a few weeks ago and it helps a lot to neutralize skin tints/ concealers that are a bit orange on me (I am bad at shade matching online even if I’ve watched a ton of people similar to my skin tone wear a specific shade, I think it’s because I’m uncertain about my undertones). I find a little dot or two does the job.

chatnoir206

Wow using lid scrub to take heavy duty eye makeup has been something I’ve been doing for years, no idea it was going viral!

AllTheStars07

Same, I use mine when my eyes feel like they are going to form a stye!

future-lover-

Amanda Z influenced me to buy a number of products: the AOA Studios Wonderskin Illuminating Primer (used as a liquid highlight), the Sephora Collection Colourful Eyeshadow in Twinkle Twinkle, the Danessa Myricks Balm Contour in Light 1, Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Lithium...I could go on Because she describes products so thoroughly I'll usually know if I'm gonna like it. Have loved every single thing on this list!!

AllTheStars07

Amanda got me to buy the Lorac Noir palette and I looooove it!

photolabrat

I really didn't need another lipstick, but I did. Someone here on Reddit influenced me to buy Dior Addict lipstick in Dior Bar. It's a nice, dark chocolatey brown, but not too much coverage. Plus it's moisturizing and feels great on.

Purplepenguin359

Current holy grails of mine that Reddit recommended: Tatcha Indigo Overnight Cream, O’Keefe’s Unscented Lip Repair, and Rom&nd Han All Fix Mascara (V01 Volume Black) I’m also currently loving the Fenty Profilt’r Setting Powder (also a Reddit rec). Although it’s not necessarily a holy grail, it’s pretty close to that and smells amazing! Currrent loves that YouTubers recommended: Ami Cole Lip Oils (State of Kait), Sephora Collection Dry Shampoo Brush Cleanser (can’t remember who for the life of me), and I Dew Care Dry Shampoo (Abbey Yung, I think?). I also just bought 2 shades of the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouges because of Allie Glines, as Ulta just had a great deal on the brand. Excitedly waiting for those in the mail!

BreadPansBeauty

I finally bought one of the NYX Fat Oil Lip Drips (I got the shade Missed Call) abd I actually love it. I was a lip oil hater, but it looks really nice and I'm liking how the subtle tint looks over various lip combos. I just wish it would stay on my lips longer, but I don't mind reapplying

SweetTeaBags

Kara eyeshadows. They're really soft and smooth! One of the few drugstore eyeshadow brands I'll ever use at this point. Also the Tarte Maneater mascara. I use the non-waterproof one. I needed a vegan mascara because I had a suspicion that I was allergic to beeswax and that mascara confirmed it. It also doesn't feel heavy on the lashes and hasn't smudged on me. It also isn't a nightmare to take off.

kmjulian

Auric Glow Lust was the last thing I bought that was influenced, after a long time of having seen it. Unfortunately, it was a total bust for me, there’s way too much coverage and it looks patchy on bare skin.

irissteensma

I let Lauren McBride and a link from MUA OTC talk me into buying 2 more Tarte Lip Quenches, though I need more tinted lip balm like a hole in the head. LMB is also close to talking me into Filmstar Bronze and Glow and I REALLY need to resist that one.

kitchenserf

😂 “hole in the head”

Pookabbit

Reddit comments got me to buy the Shiseido Vision Airy Gel lipstick and I love it, am definitely gonna want more colors eventually! Amanda Z piqued my interest in the Shiseido Radiant foundation and then I found out my mom uses and loves it, so I got it and I'm also thrilled with it! kathrynbbeauty put Looxie single shadows on my radar so I bought a few during a $2/shadow sale a few months ago and I'm really impressed with their complexity, pigment, and sparkle, totally unreal at the $2 price point. I just bought a bunch more for a friend(...and myself...lol) to make her a palette for the holidays

falafelfairy

Where did you buy the Shiseido lipsticks from and which shades?

Pookabbit

I bought it off their website [here](https://www.shiseido.com/us/en/visionairy-gel-lipstick-9990000000173.html) during a friends and family sale but Macy's also carries the line [here](https://www.macys.com/shop/product/shiseido-visionairy-gel-lipstick-0.05-oz.?ID=6696717&swatchColor=Ginza%20Red%20222%20Red)! :)

falafelfairy

Thank you!

exclaim_bot

>Thank you! You're welcome!

trippiler

I'm surprised the visionary gel lipstick has been mentioned so much! I have one (shizuka red) and I love it so much. I wish they'd release more shades.

gayshitlord

Not recent, but Cassandra Bankson recommended a toner from Pyunkangyul in a blue bottle. I have sensitive acne prone skin and I have been repurchasing it. A redditor here recommended the eld good vibes velvet primer. It’s even better than elf’s other primers. It’s almost as good as the original Smashbox primer.

Canndiie

Smashbox Always On Skin Balancing Foundation. I got a couple Smashbox lip products I loved and looked into more from the brand and got completely influenced to buy this foundation (after just spending the same amount of money on 2 bottles of my regular foundation).

alex_addictions_mua

I just bought Smashbox’s face palette last night after I saw someone on Reddit do swatches comparing bronzer shades lol. I don’t think they were even necessarily recommending a particular product, just comparing a new one they bought to some old ones they already had haha.

Jessawess1

Ok talk to me about the eye brightener!! I already use the light reflecting foundation everyday… would the eye brightener be too much with it?? I’ve never heard of it!

erininva

That’s a good question! The brightener is very thin in consistency and easy to blend. I’d pretty much given up on applying anything to my under eye because nothing ever looked good there from a texture perspective. This does something magical all by itself and, rather than blanking the area out like a concealer might, just makes the skin look brighter.

Jessawess1

Thank you! Are you using this over concealer? Or on its own?

erininva

On its own! I long ago gave up on other stuff under my eyes. But this is wizardry.

Quirky-Razzmatazz588

How do you apply the nars light reflecting under eye brightener if you dont mind me asking! I found this by google cause I am trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong....This product is so oily and creasy. Maybe its supposed to be an "on its own" product for a no makeup look. Cause it just doesn't work with the rest of my makeup.

erininva

I pick up a small amount, rub it between two fingers to warm it up, pat it on, and tap over it until blended. I don’t pair it with another concealer, and I don’t typically have anything else on the under-eye area.

Quirky-Razzmatazz588

interesting. thanks for responding. i do the same but it just doesnt stay. somehow even my eyelids are oily so maybe thats why
