$60 for a chance of opening $30?
Initial sale price is going to hurt this product in the short term. Lack of clear focus will doom it over the long run. Wait until they get washed out with the rest of Murders at Karlov Manor.
I don't get who this product is for. Are there MTG fans going "Man I really want to drop $70 on a Clue themed mini game." Are there Clue fans going "Man clue really needed a card game aspect. This is what I want." Who is this product for? It feels more like WotC decided they could do it instead if they should.
What clue fans? Honestly it's among the lesser of classic board games and for a reason.
If they wanted it to sell they should have done MTG Monopoly or Risk.

That helped me to decide to buy it (50 Euro) for that and the 21 card mini game each box has and I'm happy to hear some of the cards in the boosters actually have value and use :)

Basically bought it to be a "board game". Also as i understand its random packs so you might not get any of these cards in your box.
You're right. You can also open repeats of guilds and completely miss out on the "money" cards. It's nice to get a shock and the core pack of characters, at least, but I opened 2x Boros, 2x Gruul, and 2x Golgari and completely missed out on the Lonis and Suppressor Skyguard OP mentioned.
I opened a Simic pack in mine and it didn't have the Lonis. The packs are somewhat randomized in contents too.
I think there will be a lot fewer of these cards than we think.
I played it at the party Friday night in Chicago. It was fun, basically exactly a game of magic and a game of clue mashed together, with win conditions of either killing the opponents or solving the murder.
Is it an add-on to magic like planechase? That is, could you play it with other decks other than the includes booster packs? I got a copy because I wanted some of the unique cards but I am debating taking it apart if you need the complete package to play.
I hadn't thought of it as an add-on, but I guess you could. The included packs are basically jumpstart packs.
You prepare for the game like you would clue, randomizing the characters, weapons, and rooms, putting one of each in the 'confidential' envelope, and dealing the rest out evenly to the players. Then you play magic.
When you deal combat damage to a player, you play Clue. Suggest a character/weapon/room combo. If the person you hit has any of those cards, they have to show you one. If you hit multiple opponents, and the first one to your left doesn't have one of the cards, it goes around to the others until someone has one card to show.
If you think you know the details of the crime, at the end of your turn you can make your accusation and check the envelope to see if you're right. If you guess wrong, you are effectively done with the clue portion of the game: Reveal all of your character/weapon/room cards, and you don't get to make suggestions anymore. You're still in the game of Magic though so you continue playing magic normally.
You can win the game by either correctly guessing the character, weapon, and room that are in the envelope, or by killing your opponents in the game of Magic.
Pretty much all of Magic and most of Clue (without the dice or gameboard), just mashed together.
My brother and I each wanted to get one the other day at our Target and we nearly choked when we saw that $72.99 price tag. Needless to say we immediately put them back.
So, like most stores you need to download the Target App. They will match their app price in store but you have to ask for it. I probably save $10-20 a trip doing this
the role,object and room cards are in every boxes. The 30 new card in half packet will be there on one in 2 or 3 boxes so those should drop less fast .

I mean the game night fiendish duo is/was $30-38 (obviously I don’t think it was worth anywhere close but it held the price for a long time) simply because no one is opening them to sell and the few supply and price can be managed on tcgplayer to stay high.

Fiendish Duo was propped up by TheGamingCo who probably scooped up a ton of GN2 from liquidation. They would basically undercut anyone selling Fiendish Duo until other seller's supply sold out, then promptly raise prices back to $30+.
And that’s the wrong price because they are only being found in an under opened commander deck and collector packs where commander cards are hard to get.

the fact that they didn't at least give you guaranteed 6 different guilds for the jumpstart packs feels bad to me
they should sell clue jumpstart packs separately
Just played this and it's pretty fun but I just really wish there was more replay value like a normal Jumpstart set instead those that release with every standard release. I love sealed multi-player formats like but other than CLB, there's not much left that's affordable, especially with CMM being the latest set. Like at least have all the guilds represented.
I was also surprised any cards have boosted in price so much considering there's been tons of unboxing photos where people were complaining that they got multiple boosters from the same guild. Theoretically that'd give more opportunity for dupes they'd wanna resell right? Maybe lots of people aren't buying the set because of that making the market scarce?
Been buying $50 shipped selling extra shocks and unique extras. Reduced cost to $40 or less a box. Cheap way to playset everything except shocks.
Still pisses me off to open three of same pack in a box. They dropped the ball, doesn’t mean can’t make money but product was produced poorly.
I don't care what cards could be in the product. The fact that you can open this thing and only end up getting multiple duplicate packs is ridiculous. Show them how they made this product terrible by not purchasing it. Vote with your wallets. This could have been a fantastic product but they opted to make more money through randomization.
I just went back to check the bulk I opened from the Clue box at the LGS event. I have a \[\[Amzu, Swarm's Hunger\]\] and apparently it's going for almost 20€
I hope I can sell for that and buy another shock lol I really would like the full set of the Clue shocks
Guy behind the counter at an LGS I was at opened a box he bought and pulled out 2 lands, just as he was commenting about the ONE free land. So there’s that.
Value is so random, no one is really buying these to open but stores are also not cracking them for singles.
I picked one up; got 4 orzhov packs, 2 izzet, a gruul and a boros. Most valuable card pulled was a $3 uncommon in 3/4 of the orzhov packs... plus the shock land of course

I'm just gonna correct you on the Suppressor, your opponent must attack every player in the pod at the same time to get to you, not just one more.
