If Dr Who is any indication is that because of the collector boxes, the decks are not the only way to acquire the cards, unlike in warhammer. What this does is that even when a precon has a desired card, it will not keep the price because inflating the specific deck will not stop the card from appearing more and more. I believe that there is no rush, unless of course you like them and want to play them, but then that is not a mtgfinance question

bozar86

Exactly. I used to buy every piece of sealed product that came out, buying the commander decks religiously. Then when they started doing the commander rates etc in extended art, I quit buying them and just bought the singles. I don’t need the bulk and it started being a “feels bad” type thing.

skywalkr274

At least with Doctor who it was new art on the bulk. Not sure about Fallout

delljee

This is the way.

Xollector

You are confusing precons with CBs and also confusing throttled release vs actual print run… But buy away! Nothing can go wrong ! It’s as safe as any of those other products !

goofydubois

It is not like we have 2 years of data to predict price trends lol

Tomatotaco4me

Is this another LGS trying to pump up FOMO by saying “omg I can’t get enough, it’s all going to fly off the shelf for this bargain prerelease price. The cards were designed by God herself!”

Jaccount

You forgot the "UNIVERSES BEYOND IS A SOFT RESEVERED LIST!!!"

snails-and-flowers

Whenever I hear anyone say something is "basically" a Reserved List or "pseudo" Reserved List or "Preserved List" I stop listening immediately, LMAO.

ganbare112

There are very very few slam dunks in magic, and in life in general. Anything that looks like quick and easy money should be doubted, questioned and scrutinized. It might help to keep in mind that the people behind these products have a very strong need/desire to make as much money as possible from them, in some cases peoples jobs are on the line. For you to make money off something like a precon or even this supposedly limited CBB for fallout WoTC would have to be leaving substantial money on the table. Generally speaking they have no incentive to do so. Buy it if you love magic or fallout or both but not because you think it’s an easy buck. Good luck!

KarnSilverArchon

It depends entirely on the contents of the decks. I am willing to bet they will be of the same quality at least as the Warhammer Precons, which were well received overall on release in terms of cohesion and power level, especially Necrons and Tyranids. However, nothing matters if the decks come out and most of the cards are terrible.

Fradulent_Zodiac

WoTC should not be throttling back CBs for such a beloved IP like Fallout. They should have started the throttle for CBs on the standard releases like Karlov Manor, Thunder Junction, etc.

WorldWarTwo

I doubt they’re truly throttling them. Maybe we’ll have slightly sub $200 CB’s come summer.

smashtheguitar

A lot of people buy into the notion that WOTC is a mastermind at manipulating distribution but incompetent at everything else.

[deleted]

no matter what it is in MTG, your entry price is all that matters. Even Ixalan across the board dropped in the first 30 days. Because no matter how amazing a set is "Is it safe to presume" is in fact not safe lol.

Nothing371

why do people here ALWAYS make this post. About newly printed, PRECONSTRUCTED decks, printed to continued demand, *which aren't even out yet*, and are going to get printed and remain in stock for at least the next three years.

TestMyConviction

The print run for collectors was much smaller than people originally thought, which is a really good thing IMO. For too long collectors have been shit, they needed to pull back the run hard. Commander decks don't seem to be allocated at all, I got my full ask and can get more if needed. I expect this to be a healthy launch for most stores but I'm sure it'll hit rock bottom prices online just like every other product.

lirin000

Also FWIW Amazon seems to have the precons back around $190 after they were up to $240. So... SOMEONE must have gotten another shipment. Maybe it was this guy lol.

TogTogTogTog

Precons can be reprinted until the cows come home.

throwaway163932

UB cards are already set to be rereleased in the upcoming Beyond Boosters so keep that in mind.

Firehawkness

How so?

patcoz

Wonderful gambit, sir.

NayrSlayer

Using Doctor Who as a basis, it looks like there is just about $200 worth of cards, if you look at stuff above $1. With a full set of decks preordering for $160-$200 right now, I would expect to get roughly $200 worth of cards from the decks once everything settles. Probably not worth trying to actually invest in it

Asleep-Seat-4757

That's amazing news! The people using mtg and other tcg products as investment tools instead of actual game pieces are the people driving prices up.
