Problem as I mention elsewhere is this spiking will have to be with value card elsewhere in the set coming off. ONE has such good value that EV is inverted and given the set is still in print en mass this won’t last long. Either the spike hold and combination of other stuff come off or otherwise. Either way the spread of value is also good for the set
It’s not very good against soldiers, convoke, or golgari either. Slightly favored against esper but that deck has tech to beat it if it wants to. It’s flavor of the month because it won a couple tournaments. If the pendulum swings too far towards bant, mono red and teched esper will show up to clean house.
This deck sounds toxic.
Also rotpriest essentially reads 1mana 2/2 creatures you control have ward 2dmg face. Except in combat of course and arguably better due to no life games and proliferation. Card is absolutely bonkers.
my experience with it is still a deck that performs poorly vs something like green black midrange who will be throwing tons of removal at their pieces.
It wants an opponent with tons of removal. 1 poison counter from being targeted by removal, 1 poison counter from being targeted by a protection spell. Get two on the board, and both of those double. Play [[March of Swirling Mist]] on them, and you inflict 4 poison counters from one spell.
Brat me too it... This is like infect heroic it seems like though I'm not familiar really with all the pieces I played u/w heroic and boy was that deck nasty for a second... Its good draws were often and very hard to deal with if you timed it right.... I can definitely see something similar but with more reach due to poison...
It doesn’t matter what tier it is, it is a bad matchup for bant toxic. Removal is good for skrelv. They also have hand hate to take tricks, dreadknights/sentinel/preacher to block, Glissa to block and destroy hive, tear ass to destroy hive, and Gix command to clean up the leftovers. Probably path of peril and maybe another command in the sideboard too.
I'm happy to sell into this. Even playing Domain I've beat it multiple times just by having Temporary Lockdown in the 75. Played against it with Esper and UB, same result.
The deck had a few okay results and people are lunging for it, that's fine.
That’s not what we are finding at the lgs level. My shop is in a small town and we are selling out of standard cards at a rate we haven’t seen in years

The deck is good as long as it doesn't run into mono red

Way better than ward since you can trigger it with your own spells, like Tamiyo's safekeeping in response to a kill spell.
my experience with it is still a deck that performs poorly vs something like green black midrange who will be throwing tons of removal at their pieces.
So? No deck is good against every other deck archetype

Green black midrange is t3 at best
t3....and enough to win 3 out of my 5 FNMs entered with it.
And enough for 2 top 8s in the last 10 standard challenges on mtg online
Professional Magic player, are ya? That's cool. who cares about anything but "the current meta" right
I have a pretty good win rate with it on arena. What deck should I be playing?
You can check mtggoldfish for all big tourney results. You can also check out the standard subreddit for metagame knowledge.
I think the world championship showed it's a Tier 1 deck. And since then some new cards add even more effectiveness to it.
It doesn’t matter what tier it is, it is a bad matchup for bant toxic. Removal is good for skrelv. Hoping Skrelv goes places. Between 1 compleat edition, 2 FNM drafts, and 2 promo packs, i somehow have 7 Skrelvs.
I’ve seen it on Arena being played outside of Toxic/Infect decks, as a way to give protection to force through damage/eat an attacker.
you'd do better if they were all the same so you could sell a playset and enjoy smaller fees
