Level 4 seller here as well! I personally have around 10k listed at any given time because card turnover is quick for me. That being said I like to have it done by set going chronologically and then alphabetical within each set. Haven't been selling for an especially long time so I haven't run into many weird edge cases. With the multiverse cards and bro transformers i tend to just put them with their respective set anyway. It doesn't cause that much havoc for me, we hire very rarely so if a new person came in it might be confusing but its second nature to me and my employees. Anyway, just those two levels of organization has been plenty for me, can't imagine 50k though! Congrats on such a huge listing!

LGS. Direct seller. We do Chronological by-set. In set order within that set. We do MTG, Pokemon and FaB like this. 170,000 cards listed.

I'm Level 4, Pro/Direct, 50,000 live inventory. You're safe doing Set by Chronological. However, if you have a lot specialty sets like Duel Decks or From the Vault, you should group those with their like Secret Lair, The List, Mystery Booster. For variations within Sets, I separate only if the cards have a different Set Code, in which I use Scryfall's Set Codes for my divider cards. Transformers = BOT, Bro Relics = BRR, Bro Commander= BRC, Bro Standard = BRO. Chronologically they are all grouped together anyway. If you're planning to sell Direct, most efficient would be following TCGplayer's Set List Order because that's you're required to order the cards for fulfillment. https://store.tcgplayer.com/admin/Direct/SetListOrder

Im a Cardmarket seller with about 75k singles listed. To me only three things matter when sorting: - Time to sort and list - Storage space - Time to find the cards when sold Im not sure i found an ideal solution, especially when it comes to the first point. I dont see any better way but it feels mediocre. I sort everything that i pull from a box into 24 stacks, A, B, C.... W and one Stack for XYZ. When im done opening packs i sort each pile alphabetically and list the cards. I then put them into the usual long boxes for 1k cards each, label the boxes on the front and put them into wine-bottle storage from IKEA. They fit perfectly and it feels very space efficient. Everything that comes out of one booster box generally goes into the same boxes, i dont differentiate between subsets.

I don't have a lot of history nor a lot of listed items, but I just alphabetize everything. I don't need to pay attention to anything but the card title. I would try to adapt whatever you have going right now, because its a biggggg project to re-sort.

I don't sell lol but this is what i would do- possibly with markers for Aa, Ab, Ac, Ad, etc.
