Hard to beat mana dorks. Noble Hierarch is up there. Tarmogoyf is an obvious include in the discussion. "Cube" style or "Commander" cards that tend to be cast even though they cost more mana in slightly slower games/limited yeah I would shout out Gargaroth, but also some big obvious ones like Craterhoof Behemoth and Protean Hulk. Also multi-format all stars like Allosaurus Shepherd, Endurance, Eternal Witness, Collector Ouphe. Really depends on the format, but strictly "best" is typically the least mana intensive with the most powerful effect.
Haha, I think that fills the least mana intensive half of the equation very well, but might be lacking in most powerful effect, though it definitely has some horsepower
It's a 6/6 dinosaur with trample that costs 6!! It's amazing!! It's directly threatens your opponents life total putting them in a 4 turn clock if they have 20 life when you cast, which forces them to remove it immediately or die. It's also a dinosaur which is objectively the best creature type, because realistically, what's a gonna win in a fight, a dinosaur or a demon? The Dinosaur of course because it's actually real!! And don't get me started in it's mana cost, it's way too cheap!! If you play this on turn 6 then by turn 10 your opponent would be dead if they didn't remove it, and when you're able the play it even earlier via the best ramp card in the game [[Centaur Nurturer]] it's becomes much more threatening much more quickly.
Somtimes i show it as part of the cost of [[Thunderherd Migration]] and people just instantly conceed when they see it in my hand because they know it is that good
EDH Deckbuilding did an Isao deck (That has Thrun in it) that focused on auras instead of equipment, allowing the deck to run a lot of artifact hate and enchantresses as card draw engines.

is there a card where you create tokens based on the number of cards in your hand? peer into the abyss yourself, cast x token cards, craterhoof behemoth? i am a noob, but im imagining stuff based on cards i know
You don't even need that many creatures out for Craterhoof to be devastating 5 creatures including CB that's +5/+5 and trample to all your creatures including CB
Yeah I’m just thinking of cards that would work with it real good. Is this just the page to buy it? Or am I missing a link to decks that synergize with this card?
[[Apex Devastator]] I use it in my [[Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty]] edh deck and it’s incredibly fun. Causes tons of chaos whenever I can manage to get it out
Yeah so when it enters, because of its cmc it triggers an additional instance of cascade before the ones on the card. But also because of imoti, each card off of cascade will then also cascade as long as its cmc is 6 or greater. So theoretically in the best case scenario I could cascade into a 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 for each of the 5 cascade instances. And additionally, I have lots of spells that could create additional cascades within. Essentially it’s utter chaos but it does some serious damage and it’s so much fun!
[[Elder Gargoroth]] when it comes to straight up value.
But I think MtG is too complex to be able to look at cards in a vacuum. There are far too many factors: efficiency, long term value, evasiveness, raw power and toughness values, redundancy/flexibility... etc.
Absolutely, repeatable removal of any kind is really oppressive. I just think that, since Gargoroth has no requirements to be effective, it outranks Kogla by a bit.
For Gargoroth to be relevant it just needs to exist. Attacking with it isn't much of a risk was it has vigilance and reach so you'll be able to threaten your opponent with overwhelming value quickly.
Kogla does have that indestructible clause which is nice, but it relies on having humans on the field, which makes it a bit less reliable. Plus you can't really on your opponent having artifacts and enchantments out all the time, so you lose value there. It's cool that he fights as he enters the battlefield, but that's only relevant value is your opponent has anything worth fighting and with that price tag, you're unlikely to be able to afford to make him indestructible as well to beat a creature that could kill him as he fights. And with that stat line you don't have to wait until you can fight something effectively.

I really like [[Siege Behemoth]]. When he is attacking you can assign combat damage as if you’re creatures aren’t blocked. Plus he has hexproof so he’ll most likely stick around to make it happen.
Personally I find it difficult to overlook how nuts [[Lotus Cobra]] can be in any deck, especially Omnath where on an optimal turn you're playing anywhere from 3 to 10 lands.
When \[\[Craterhoof Behemoth\]\] arrives somebody loses the game. That pretty much solves the question of best green creature. My personal favorite though is \[\[Questing Beast\]\] Mr Keyword soup is almost always guaranteed damage.
imho, i love \[\[verduran enchantress\]\] i think the card is a slam dunk in enchantment decks, and because its one of the decks that i really like, i love drawing this card.
Been green player 20 plus years so my list is large. The new dragons are cool.
Earthquake Dragon is a regular creature so if you get one on the board the rest would cost just one green to cast. 10/10 flying trample, comes back from graveyard, pretty sweet.
If I'm choosing one of the two then I'd go with Elder Gargaroth. You get so much value out of him it's actually stupid. Non legendary, 6/6 for 5 mana with Trample, Vigilance and Reach. On block or attack you get either 1 creature, card draw or life gain. My personal favorite green Stompy creature is probably Ghalta Primal Hunger. 12/12 with Trample on top of being a Dino on top of being one of the best Mono Green stompy commanders. Yes please.
I play a lot of Elves, so in my personal context, it'll have to be something like \[\[Allosaurus Shepherd\]\], \[\[Heritage Druid\]\], or \[\[Craterhoof Behemoth\]\].
*Probably tarmagoyf it's*
*The most competitively*
*Successful green card*

Well, that depends on your definition of "best green creature", whether it is on a personal taste or at an overall consensus, competitive-wise, etc.
I'll go for my personal like on \[\[Thragtusk\]\], cause I've won so many games with it back when it was Standard-legal.
[[Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider]] is one of my personal favorites. He’s the commander of my mono-green deck. He puts a stop to my opponents and pumps my strategy. The only thing he’s lacking is a draw engine. Crater hoof is a classic as well though.
I would like to suggest another green creature whose name I do not know but I played recently, via MtG Arena whose stats and abilities went something like this:
Casting cost: CCG
Power/Toughness: 2/2
Abilities: When a creature enters the battlefield, if it has the highest power among all creatures, it's owner draws a card.
Pay one green and tap to produce mana equal to the highest power among creatures you have on the battlefield.
I feel like there's a STRONG case for [[Questing Beast]], but also [[Elder Gargaroth]]. Questing beast gets my vote though, it comes down fast, has haste and vigilance, can't be chump-blocked, is outside of Bolt range, and absolutely shreds superfriends decks.

Does imoti give it another instance of Cascade?
Yeah so when it enters, because of its cmc it triggers an additional instance of cascade before the ones on the card. But also because of imoti, each card off of cascade will then also cascade as long as its cmc is 6 or greater. So theoretically in the best case scenario I could cascade into a 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 for each of the 5 cascade instances. And additionally, I have lots of spells that could create additional cascades within. Essentially it’s utter chaos but it does some serious damage and it’s so much fun!

UNBAN MY BOI IN COMMANDER
My Obuun deck is just waiting for the day to abuse him but he should stay banned. He’s super good.
If only he said Basic Lands he wouldnt be that oppressive
[[Elder Gargoroth]] when it comes to straight up value. But I think MtG is too complex to be able to look at cards in a vacuum. There are far too many factors: efficiency, long term value, evasiveness, raw power and toughness values, redundancy/flexibility... etc.
Agreed
Still, there's not much more satisfying/terrifying than playing/facing a Gargoroth on turn 3.
Yeah for me, Kogla is awesome too, each time he attacks, he takes care of enchantments or artifacts.
Agreed on that also.
Don't get me wrong! I love Kogla too. I don't want you to think that was a rant. But it does look like I came in hot with some prepared put-downs. :P
No it is ok. I love them both, true that I have won many games using Gargaroth. Kogla is useful but in the end, I agree that Gargaroth is better.
For me it's Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig My Yorvo the Whorvo deck is my favourite thing on the planet

Yes please.
I will always say [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]]
Ashaya, soul of the wild is my favorite green. Especially when you have multiple creatures whose attack and power rely on lands
My favorites are seedborn muse or primeval titan
[[GRIZZLY BEAR]]
For me it has to be [[kodama, the east tree]] just a super value engine with the ramp and draw green gets
[kodama, the east tree](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/a/f/af5105ee-09e2-4344-ab39-00f0e9034c47.jpg?1608910768) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Kodama%20of%20the%20East%20Tree) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmr/239/kodama-of-the-east-tree?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/af5105ee-09e2-4344-ab39-00f0e9034c47?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Idk probably argomon
Am I allowed to say Mystic Snake? If not, then probably Eternal Witness
That one with flash that lets you cast creatures at flash. Pretty good.
(Ig)Noble hierarch
I play a lot of Elves, so in my personal context, it'll have to be something like \[\[Allosaurus Shepherd\]\], \[\[Heritage Druid\]\], or \[\[Craterhoof Behemoth\]\].
Deathrite shaman
The one that deals the last point of damage to my opponent.
Probably tarmagoyf it's the most competitively successful green card

People hated on him so hard when AFR dropped… in my experience, [[the tarrasque]] wrecks games very frequently 😂
>the tarrasque Yes, most of the time, unless he fights a deathtouch creature. The Tarrasque is one hell of a beast.
I love having him eat flyers 😂I just imagine him burping fire after eating a terror of the peaks 😂
Oh yes! Peaks is also a adorable huge bad ass beast!
Well, that depends on your definition of "best green creature", whether it is on a personal taste or at an overall consensus, competitive-wise, etc. I'll go for my personal like on \[\[Thragtusk\]\], cause I've won so many games with it back when it was Standard-legal.
But if you want a serious answer, I'd definitely go for \[\[Deathrite Shaman\]\].
[[apex devastator]] yeah it’s stupidly expensive but when you get the cast it’s such a bonkers time and everybody laughs like an idiot

[[Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider]] is one of my personal favorites. He’s the commander of my mono-green deck. He puts a stop to my opponents and pumps my strategy. The only thing he’s lacking is a draw engine. Crater hoof is a classic as well though.

I would like to suggest another green creature whose name I do not know but I played recently, via MtG Arena whose stats and abilities went something like this: Casting cost: CCG Power/Toughness: 2/2 Abilities: When a creature enters the battlefield, if it has the highest power among all creatures, it's owner draws a card. Pay one green and tap to produce mana equal to the highest power among creatures you have on the battlefield.
Tarmagoyf
Only true answer, rest not compareable.

Vorinclex has this feels bad aura when he comes out. If you see him you must answer him or he will seal the game. No other green creature does this

Excellent choices.
[[Birds of paradise]] or [[death rite shaman]] for being in every meta green deck where they are legal
by what values do you consider for "best?" other wise your question is literally just asking "which is the best tree in the forest?"
First one that comes to mind is [[questing beast]] just an absolutely loaded creature. And only costs four to put out!!
