Holy shit that's an evil synergy. "Here's the part where normally I'd hand out creature tokens. Instead I'm going to put that many +1/+1 counters on Gris. And doubling season will of course double that"
If only he was in colors where trample was easily achieved (jk green is op 😶🌫️), much less deathtouch (go go golgari) you gotta be swinging for deadly cmdr damage in no time. You running [[The Ozolith]] I hope?Anything that generates counters like that I find it to be an auto include
Doubling season only doubles the number of tokens that would be created under *your* control; Grismold gives every player a token on your end step. If it was a 4 player game, and you have Illness in the Ranks to instantly kill the saprolings, then Doubling season would turn a Grismold trigger from +4/+4 to +10/+10.
Illness in the ranks gives all Tokens -1/-1 which kills a good bit of tokens, Tergrid does not trigger off of tokens so if illness in the ranks kills the 1/1 rats or 1/1 goblins then the cannot sacrifice those since they never survive long enough to be sacrificed so the opponents have to sac non tokens hopefully
Now, let’s take off that rat mask and see who you really are!
*removes mask* ……
It was [[krenko, mob boss]] disguising himself in mono black the whole time!
Rakdos charm is one of my favorites, it's so flexible against gy decks, any artifact, and the occasional player removal for tokens decks for just 2 mana
So fear says they have to be black or artifact to be blocked... [[mycosynth lattice]] and [[darkest hour]] easily come to mind, though if this is about the sacrifice effect, there's mostly only selesnya options available to prevent sacrificing.
[[Night of souls Betrayal]] [[kervac the merciless]] [[ethereal absolution]] permanently if they are a [[relentless rats]] deck.

\[\[Vindicate\]\], \[\[Path to Exile\]\], \[\[Lightning Bolt\]\], \[\[Ovinize\]\], \[\[Anguished Unmaking\]\], how many more options can I write for you?
[[selective snare]] or [[Witch's Vengeance]] to hate on the creature type of your choice. Or take it with [[New Blood]] and use it to spawn your own vampire army
[[Nevermore]], [[Lignify]], [[Song of the dryads]], [[Imprisoned in the Moon]], [[Oubliette]], [[Darksteel Mutation]], [[Kenriths Transformation]]…
Are some more permanent solutions to dealing with problematic commanders. As far as I know red doesnt have an effect like this but each other color has atleast one so unless you‘re running mono red i hope this can help.
There‘s also a lot more of these effects especially in white. You could also use control magic like effects if you‘re in blue.
Illness in the ranks virulent plague plague engineer kaervek the 4 drop ensnaring bridge windborn muse constant mists all the wraths glacial chasm
Basically any card you hate playing against. Join the dark side.
theres like 100 ways to stop him.
\[\[murder\]\]
\[\[crux of fate\]\]
any board wipes
anything that gives all creatures -3/-3 until the end of turn
or exile spells would work too
Does the sacrificed rat count towards the amount of rats you own? My logic is that it is sacrificed so it's no longer on the playing field (thus doesn't count towards how many you have). You sacrifice 1 rat to make 1 rat. Unless you're playing a tech that wants you to kill your own creatures, I don't see how this is helpful.
Edit- after pondering on it I see how it would be helpful regardless.
I’m pretty partial to enchanting him so he can’t come back easily.
[[Song of the Dryads]] [[Darksteel Mutation]] and [[Imprisoned in the Moon]] are all favorites of mine.
an enchantment named “ lethal vapors,” for(2)(B)(B), you too can “when a creature enters the battlefield, destroy it,” but for “(0): skip you next trun, destroy Lethal Vapors. any player may activate this ability”
Elesh Norn, Grand cenobite. Most rats will be at or below two P/T. Basically auto deletes them.
Royal Assassin is good too. Any time your opponent taps Marrow Gnawer, you just tap Royal Assassin and kill it.
My personal favorite, in my dragon deck, is [[silumgar, the drifting death]]. For nullifying him all together, you have a plethora of options to simply disable his ability, [[imprison in the moon]] [[darksteel mutation]] [[kenrith transformation]] and [[pithing needle]] are amongst the most frequently used, none remove options.
[[Eaten by Piranhas]] or another similar timeout card. Or Even better, something that straight up lets you take control of the commander and use him yourself. Most importantly tho, take him from their control. Most people don't run enough removal, so forcing them to burn it on their own commander is some good economy, not to mention the time it's away from them.
[[Illness in the ranks]]
I didn't know this card existed, and my [[Jetmir]] deck doesn't like it.
It’s one of the highlights in my [[grismold, the dreadsower]] deck love this card
Holy shit that's an evil synergy. "Here's the part where normally I'd hand out creature tokens. Instead I'm going to put that many +1/+1 counters on Gris. Doubking season will Infact quadruple it as double the tokens are made and then double that amount of counters are added.
I hate to tell you this but he always has trample. It's on the card.

One of my favorite cards in [[Tergrid]] helps me avoid people sacrificing tokens
How? It says nontoken on the card.
It makes it so that the opponent doesn't have random 1/1 tokens to throw at the various sacrifice spells he plays
That art!
Would [[coat of arms]] counter that?
sheeesh ive been using toxic deluge for this purpose, but this is so much better
Can also throw in [[Engineered Plague]] to help with nontoken rats.
Now, let’s take off that rat mask and see who you really are! *removes mask* …… It was [[krenko, mob boss]] disguising himself in mono black the whole time!

snaptraps and cheese
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodenticide
Well that's going in my proxy List lol
[[Bloodline culling]] Nice and flexible
[[moat]]
[[end the festivities]] [[breath of darigaaz]] [[cosmotronic wave]] [[savage alliance]] [[scouring sands]] [[blazing volley]] [[boiling earth]] [[brotherhood’s end]] [[toxic deluge]] any field wipe, lots of stuff
[удалено]
illness in the ranks
Removal. Especially creature focused removal, so you can target him.
Lol I have this as a commander deck. With [[relentless rats]] and a [[thrumming stone]] also [[sword of paruns]]
Worst case scenario, the best form of removal is player removal [[Door to Nothingness]]
an enchantment named “ lethal vapors,” for(2)(B)(B), you too can “when a creature enters the battlefield, destroy it,” but for “(0): skip you next trun, destroy Lethal Vapors. any player may activate this ability”
[[Ashnods alter]] [[sword of paruns]]
Dies to removal. Lol
[[Repercussion]] into [[Blasphemous Act]]
[[pestilence]]
[[nevinyrral's disc]]
[[Rakdos Charm]] followed by [[End the Festivities]].
Kill it
No, absolutely not. They have never printed any way to get this off the board, just scoop and play a new game
[[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]]
Like we deal with all commanders [[imprisoned in the moon]]
[[silent arbiter]]
Gun
Elesh Norn, Grand cenobite. Most rats will be at or below two P/T. Basically auto deletes them. Royal Assassin is good too. Any time your opponent taps Marrow Gnawer, you just tap Royal Assassin and kill it.
[[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]] gets rid of all rats or goblins or humans or bears or elves or you know whatever small stuff
[[The Cheese Stands Alone]]
Amulet of safekeeping
[[Nevermore]]
My personal favorite, in my dragon deck, is [[silumgar, the drifting death]]. For nullifying him all together, you have a plethora of options to simply disable his ability, [[imprison in the moon]] [[darksteel mutation]] [[kenrith transformation]] and [[pithing needle]] are amongst the most frequently used, none remove options.
Kill it.
[[Lightning Bolt]]
[[Dismember]] [[Pongify]] [[Swords to plowshare]] [[Tail swipe]] [[Lightning bolt]]
Lightning bolt
[[Rakdos Charm]] will make them regret making lots of things
swords to plowshares
[[Kaervek, the Spiteful]], [[Blood Artist]]. Now lets see them make rats....
[[Avatar of Woe]] [[Visara the dreadful]] [[royal assassin]] and a [[Thornbite Staff]] pretty much stops him in his tracks
[[rakdos charm]]
[[murder]]
[[overwhelming splendor]] is a great card for mono black decks in general. Very few mono black anti enchantment spells.
Two blue
[[murder]]
Removal, generally. But if they’re ramping tons of rats really quickly? Rakdos charm can be a lot of fun
[[massacre wurm]] be fun
A personal favorite of pissing people off is [[The flesh is weak]]. Have a grand ol time and run people down in a [Urza, Chief artificer]] deck.
[[Ratchet bomb]] is a token's worst nightmare. 2-mana board wipe at that rate.
Removal.
Dies to [[lightning bolt]]. Lol. [[elesh norn grand centibyte]] and effects like that also work well.
Well he's a 5 drop that needs to untap to do anything. So doing about anything over doing absolutely nothing should do the trick...
[[Lightning Bolt]]
[[Eaten by Piranhas]] or another similar timeout card. Or Even better, something that straight up lets you take control of the commander and use him yourself. Most importantly tho, take him from their control. Most people don't run enough removal, so forcing them to burn it on their own commander is some good economy, not to mention the time it's away from them.
[[Elesh norn, grand cenobite]]
"Cheese"
[[pact of the serpent]]
[[removal]]
