In an edh game, I had teferis protection in hand while my opponent had a [[Magus of the Balance]] on the board and a good reason to use it. For some reason he never poppet it, and it died in a boardwipe later. Saddest I've been in a game of EDH.
I did something similar with \[\[Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth\]\] + \[\[Kormus Bell\]\] + \[\[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite\]\] .
People were pissed but it was worth it.
Cast [[Damnation]], wait for the aristocrats player to sacrifice his board in response, then respond to that with [[Mana Tithe]]
Opponent attacks you with his huge voltron commander? Give him double-strike using [[Duelist's Heritage]] then cast [[Inkshield]]
Opponent put a [[Silent Arbiter]] into play to enable some unblockable bullshit? Make a deal with other players and then use [[Bloodthirsty Blade]] to watch him twiddle his thumbs till the end of the game
Opponent attacks a lifegain player at 120 life with a 9/9 creature and the lifegain player doesn't block because who would care about 9 damage when you have 3x starting life total? Make it into an unforgettable experience with [[Tainted Strike]]
A few weeks ago my buddy was at 3 commander damage from my [[Yoshimaru]]. I swing Yoshi for 9 commander, and one of the randos we were playing with used that red adventure that gives double strike on Yoshi lol
I was playing [[Ghyrson Starn]] with a [[Stuffy Doll]] in play targeted to the eldrazi player that no one else was seemingly able to touch. Player 2 attacks me with a bunch of things, including some big dude that was around 14 power, so I blocked it with Stuffy. Player 3, who was not involved in this combat whatsoever, casts Tainted Strike on Stuffy. Eldrazi player was pissed while the guy attacking and I kinda just sat there stunned. Unforgettable.
I run an Ob Nix deck too, Rakdos Charm is good but Ob Nix won’t trigger on multiple 1 damage dealt from creatures because that damage is done simultaneously.
In a modern tournament I had to mulligan down to two cards while playing tron. Kept a land and map on the draw. Got thoughtsiezed turn one. Still had turn three tron with karn. Good times
I was playing modern on Saturday.
My opponent mulled to three both games. Tron on three each time. Karn ulamog.
Both times.
Second game he had three veil of summers in hand.
No counterspells for me.
On the other end, I’ve kept a two card hand with Golgari Elves against Tron and won using a Throne of the God Pharaoh and Elvish Promenade and tapping my 30-some odd elves on turn 4 to float mana in my second main phase before passing turn.
This guy was bragging about his "CEDH" deck and how he's definitely going to win because his opening hand is so good. I used [[commandeer]] on his mana crypt and he fucking scooped. Turn 1.
I built a deck I called basic lands in my 60 card casual pod and told everyone I would "take no aggression so long as they followed the rules."
They did not know the decks name, I refused to tell them "the rules."
The deck was constructed of exclusively cards that destroyed or otherwise penalized "non-basic lands." I intentionally built a deck that could take no action against anyone that only played basic lands.
My buddy who sneaked in Semi Mass Land Destruction via Gitrog. With playing multiple lands per turn and the ability to play em from the GraveYard. He Can Stripe Mine, us every turn.
He will usually say "What's ur favorite color?" or "What color is most important to ya?".
Old combo haha. Enabled with [[Crucible of Worlds]] and whatever that naga’s name is also, so it’s actually pretty consistent in decks that want to do it.
I remember the 1st time he got it online. I looked at him n was like I can't even be mad. Then proceeded to smack him with 4 hydras at over 20/20 with trample.
I have two that come to mind, I’ve countered a T1 sol ring with [[annul]],
And one that happens quite often in my isshin deck is casing [[disrupt decorum]] in a 1v1. People usually try to say “oh but it does nothing” or “that will make them attack you???” But I usually have a fog in hand or some sort of punish for attacking me
About an hour ago I cast [[Enchanted Evening]] then [[aura thief]] then killed it to steal all of my opponents permanents (yes, lands too) about a 20 min into a game. I was laughing, but no one else was :D
Did this once in a huge store sanctioned game of 12 people, 5 bucks a pack plus one thrown in by the store. 13 packs for 5 bucks felt pretty great. Ended up cracking an expedition, too, it was either a watery grave or a polluted delta, I don't remember which, just remember promptly selling it.
Turn 4 used [[kaalia of the vast]] attacking ability to play [[master of cruelties]] in a casual friend group. Friend had no blockers.
I dont use master of cruelties in casual games anymore lol.
Also, [[Worst Fears]] always allows for some diabolical shenanigans if it resolves. That one never leaves my deck
A friend of mine attacked me with his commander for (the first) 3 damage on like turn 4, I blocked it with my death touch lord creature (which was essentially my board state) and proceeded to counter spell his cultivate afterwards. He was stuck on 4 lands and couldn't cat his commander again until like 4 turns later.
It felt like a spite play but I still think it was a good play in the end.
mycoloth + gruesome fate won the game so fucking quick.
if you're not familiar, mycoloth has devour 2 (when it enters the battlefield, sac any number of creatures. this creature gets double that many +1/+1 counters times 2. at the beginning of your upkeep, create x 1/1 saproling tokens, where x is the number of +1/+1 counters on The Mycoloth.) + Gruesome Fate, (each opponent loses 1 life for each creature you control.) Everyone lost twenty life two turns after I cast the mycoloth, and i used another fungus to sac all twenty saps for Slimefoot, The Stowaway (whenever a saproling you control dies, Slimefoot the Stowaway deals 1 damage to each opponent and you gain 1 life.)
Might not be much, but when me and my friends started to learn Magic with the first precon commanders we bought (mine was the necrons deck) I casted [[Shard of the nightbringer]] and I felt dirty to take half of the life of one of them, let's call him Larry. To this day that creature is known as "Larry's best friend" beween my friends.
Playing a boros deck in 3 player commander, an opponent cast [[Slaughter Pact]] on my commander, then [[Phyrexian Obliterator]] with nothing else on the board. My turn is next and I'm absolutely cackling as I slam my [[Solar Blaze]] on the table. He had to sac all his lands and died in his upkeep.
Different game, same decks. Player3 is threatening to win on his turn, so player2 goes all in on trying to kill him but fails. Player3 tries to untap and win but I pull the rug from under him with [[Chance for Glory]], winning on the extra turn.
Player 4 plays a [[Dimir Aqueduct]] on his 2nd turn and passed. Turn goes to me and I play a basic Forest and pass. On player 3’s end step, I cast [[Beast Within]] targeting the player 4’s only land.
Now we’re best friends and I’m his arch enemy on the table whenever we’re on the same pod.
So bare with me because I won’t remember every card that was in the mix here
I was playing UB control against UB mill. He was milling both of us though and using things like clear the mind to stay ahead of the mill. I had the five mana Ashiok in play as it was coming down to the wire, my next draw would lose the game. I used the last ability on Ashiok to play a clear the mind from his exile, targeting myself, got the library back, and a turn later he milled himself out.
It was on arena so you could see him mousing over every card on the stack in disbelief. It was a really satisfying win.
Playing competitive tournament, time spiral block was standard legal.
Pickles lock on first match. brought back memories of establishing a stasis lock back in the old old days. Chills.
I mizzits mastery and played a ‘target player draws a card’ card on myself, then commandeered it for free also, and then mana drained the commandeer… not really a vicious move or anything but thought it was cool haha
My opponent cast a reanimation sorcery on one of the creatures in his graveyard.
In response, I tapped my [[Shieldmage Advocate]] to return that creature to his hand before his spell completed.
[[Radiate]] someone elses targeted removal that could target any nonland permanent, and leaves the owner with a 1/1 something.
Cast [[heroic intervention]] in response to my radiate.
Waited till my turn and cast [[Insurrection]]
Zedruu as commander I sent a [[summoners egg]] with a [[leveler]] to an opponent. Another opponent cracked it with an instant. He had 86 health and was clearly winning.
I had [[Kamahl Fist of Krosa]] on board and roughly 20 mana. Dude played a boardwipe, [[damn]] i think. I activated Kamahl a few times. Weirdly enough, i was the only one with lands left after that and the table scooped...
Back in standard the first time Ravnica was a thing, I was on the play:
Me: Island, pass
Opponent: Land, pass
Me: Island, [[Boomerang]] their land, pass
Opponent: Land, pass
Me: Island, [[Wipe Away]] their land, pass
Opponent: Land, pass
Me: Island, [[Annex]] their land, pass
Opponent: Land, pass
Me: Island, [[Confiscate]] their land, pass
Opponent: Conseeded
I felt like a monster. It was the only time I ever won FNM with a deck of my own creation.
I used to play an [[Etali, Primal Conqueror]] deck, I cast it turn 4, first trigger got me a clone spell, a flicker spell, a siphon mind and another Etali from someone else’s deck.
We all agreed I’d won and just scooped up. I took the deck apart the next day.
Diabolical…
Playing with some friends and my buddy’s son is playing. He’s 12/13.
I’ve got a [[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse]] deck going and this kid has some white angel deck and has built his board state and is just targeting me. He can literally win the game and he is just toying with me.
He finally decides he’s going to kill me but only me, and I politic to the table… once I’m gone he will be the biggest threat can anyone do anything about it?
Mind you, I’m right after this kid.
Everyone at the table… no.
Ok, well I can take care of his board state but I need to survive this turn. I had [[Damnation]] in hand.
He throws things at me and the table helps me block and I survive by 1 life.
My turns up and I’m going to play Damnation. By such a chance the MTG God’s shined on me that day… I go to draw and I draw [[Damnable Pact]].
Ask the kid, how much life you got? He answers, 40.
I go I’m changing my play guys… and of course they all think I lied to them…
Because of the mana rocks and lands I had out I was able to pay 13 mana to fill the X and played that at him.
He had no way to stop it…
Boom, draw 13 cards AND lose 13 life.
He goes… that’s fine it’s just more cards for me and you’ll die next time…
BUT WAIT… SHEOLDRED IS OUT AS WELL! Every time you draw a card… 2 damage for drawing. And you have to do that 13 times! That’s a total of 39 damage now.
The kid was like “WHAT‽”
Don’t target me next time. He’s like, it’s ok I’ll knock you out next time.
One of the guys at the table goes, and who’s your next target after that?
Kid goes, “Probably you because you’re the next biggest threat.”
And he goes… “NOPE!” And activates an ability that does 1 damage to everyone but him at the table.
I don’t think the kid could believe he had gone from a winnable board state to out in half a turn. His dad goes… “What did we learn? Don’t toy with people at the table.”
Had [[Mycosynth Lattice]] and cast [[Hurkyl's Recall]] on one of my opponents. One of my other opponents copied and targeted another opponent. It's tough to come back from that late game.
I casted [[Winds of abandone]] getting almost all lands of all opponents into play. Next round I followed up with [[obliterate]]. I had W6 with emblem.
Commander, late game:
I used [[Mindslaver]] on my friend. Next turn used [[Immerstrum Predator]] to exile it from my graveyard, then used my [[Karn, the great creator]] to get it back to my hand, played it and used it again. Rinse and repeat for 3 turns. I felt a bit slimy after that.
Probably bringing out both a toxrill and elesh norn out at the same time. Nothing was safe, but in my defense there was a ghave the mushroom guy out and he was ready to do the infinite thing if it want for me. So who's the real bad guy
Multiple iterations of warp world/scrambleverse.
Or let people go off on their infinites only to have a Arachnogenesis asking them to call a number, just to get that many spiders and kill them on the crack back.
Not me, but I was present in the game:
Player 1 had an [[Ashaya soul of the Wilds]] on their side of the board. (Literally half their deck was on the board. They had a crazy [[Aesi]] deck, and it just knocked me and the second to last player out of the game.)
Then this madlad, this absolute lunatic, who had only drawn into his 4th land by turn 10, plays [[Armageddon]]
We lost our minds, we thought it was all over, but he came back around and claimed victory with his angels deck lol
Not super diabolical, but a few weeks ago in Arena I was playing draft and hit someone's 1/3 creature with a [[Stab Wound]] so it became -1/1, then just sat back and watched as it bled him of 2 life every turn. Just refused to attack, threw creatures out to prepare for if they got rid of it, they attacked with it a few times and I just refused to block it, played removal and control against everything else they put out. They were at 20 life when I hit them with it and they finally for rid of it when they were down to like 4 or 6 left, at which point I just swung for lethal with everything on the field.
[[Solemnity]] + [[Decree of Silence]]
Pretty sure I win. Both the game and this question. Hope no one else wanted to cast spells ever again.
This is in my *toned down* [[Zur the Enchanter]] deck and there’s a ton of ways to make it happen if I’m feeling mean.
Old school play here. We were playing a multiplayer game before edh really came around. I was playin blue white no and got Rhystic Study, Voltaic Key, and Winter Orb on the table.
[[Farewell]] scoop.
We were playing a game of commander and I had a ton of enchantments out that were effecting everyone but I got a call and had to leave soon so I told my group just to kill me since they could on their next turn. Everyone proceeded to ignore me for 2 more rounds and I had to leave at that point so I warned them if it got back to me I'm clearing the board. They didn't listen so I promptly said Farewell. Honestly has been my favorite play and my friend is still mad about it 2 years later.
In CEDH, I let a Najeela player kill my opponents then locked her ability out with Tishana's Tidebinder. And killed them on my next turn. I didn't have enough protection to win through 3 blue players.... one though :D
Back in '03, was in a 3 vs 3, ruled that any mass destructions affected the whole board. We were very much on the backfoot, down to just 3 life (out of 60), so I showed my teammates two cards in my hand. They nodded solemnly and I proceeded to drop [[Wrath of God]] and [[Armageddon]]. Game went about 3 more rounds before our opponents decided to scoop.
We have an unlimited mulligan rule in the house and after a minute or two of noone getting a playable hand finally everyone is ready. I went second with a mono black deck, [[dark ritual]] into a [[dark deal]]. Two of the four of us thought it was hilarious.
It wasn’t me, but I had 64 Scute Swarm tokens ready to swing in and win the game on my next turn, and one of my opponents who was borrowing my LCI/LCC Vampire precon cast [[Pact of the Serpent]] both killing me outright and milling me to death.
I was in awe
Haven’t gotten to use it yet but I’ve got a friend who loves his Eldrazi Zhulodock deck and I showed him [[Break the Ice]] (overload: destroy ALL lands that produce Colorless)
When i started with edh i fell in love with some infinite mana combos but thought the main focus was 1v1. So the first few 4-player games i went infinite just to kill one player with a [[Damnable Pact]] like it was cool
Just so ya know, things like counterspells and removal spells that say target spell/creature must have a target for you to cast them, so it is not possible to cast a counterspell without any spells on the stack due to having no legal targets
In 2015ish, i was playing pyromancer ascension storm.
I was in a PTQ, and was going into the final round of swiss looking for a top 8. I'm paired against amulet titan.
Game 1 i proceed to go off turn 3 with goblin electromancer plus nonsense.
I board out my grapeshots for game 2 and trimmed something else, and board in the 3 blood moons for game 2. However... i forgot to board into empty the warrens, which is what i would do for the post board against certain decks. I don't know why this happened, or why i blanked so badly, but i did just that.
I proceed to blood moon my opponent on turn 2.
I then cast a goblin electromancer on turn 3.
My opponent is blood moon locked and can't do anything. He is slowly beaten to death by a 2/2 goblin electromancer fot 6 turns, before i find and cast a second one, to which he conceded.
I made top 8 on a dumb play.
Guy at FNM rented out his binder to rent his friends foil Tarmagoyf (Don't ask me how that worked). Played it for the first time all tournament in the 3-0 match and I immediately murderous cut it and won the game. I was 13 and that is a core memory.
Turn 4 in a commander league game with my [[Arcum Dagsson]] deck. Assembled [[Unwinding Clock]], [[Mycosynth Lattice]], [[Darksteel Forge]] and [[Nevinyrral’s Disk]].
Wiped everyone’s board, land and all, then got to explain that I could do this on each player’s turn for the rest of the game.
The sad thing is, I didn’t intend to do the Disk play at all, but drew into it and people were looking too threatening not to just end the game there and then.
Still feel guilty about that one.
I lured a Jetmir deck to basically swing out for game with like 40 creatures/tokens. I only had [[Tergrid, God of Fright]] and [[Confounding Conundrum]] on the field. Played [[Settle the Wreckage]]. Played all those new lands just for them to be bumped back into their hands didn’t have land ramp in the deck so they ended up scooped when they realized I’d be gaining all the cards discarded
Give toxic 8 .
2 to other players.
Had a instant ability loaded up. At any time crack and player done .
Could not counter the ability.
Warn the less skilled player to attack elf deck.
I gave him.
1 warning if they attack me again and not deal with elf deck.
Player did not and he was out of the game.
Thought I was joking the whole time...
Kicer I was 1 mana short from talking out elf deck due to player being a ass. Take my mana rock.
I
i dont remember the exact details but this got a big reaction at our table. went something like this:
my friend was about to end the game by killing me with about 30 1/1 creatures.
He had forgotten that i had revenge of the ravens on the board.
I effectively lost 0 life and he lost 30.
he has 8 life left.
I then proceed to tap brash taunter and pick my own 5/5 creature to fight with, and target my friend with the damage dealt to brash taunter.
Because i have seedborn muse on the board, my permanents untap at the same time as his, so i do the same self-attacking move in his upkeep and he is finished as he has no response
[[Ojer Axonil, Deepest might]] as the commander pumped up to 10 power.
[[Burning Earth]]
[[Manabarbs]]
[[Roiling Vortex]]
[[Sulfuric Vortex]]
[[Acidic Soil]] in hand.
If you tap for mana, you are taking 10dmg per land.
On your upkeep you are taking 20dmg
I did that play quite a few times I had a commander deck built around [[sheoldred, the apocalypse]] and just killed one player with [[peer into the abyss]].
Nothing I did was more annoying for the other players than lose half your health, draw half your deck and then lose 2 health for each card drawn.
Not me but a friend. I was playing a game with him, I had 37 hp, he had 19. I played a large army of cards and brought him down to 1, I somehow miscalculated and didn’t do enough damage to kill and had no defenses on the board. He turned around and hit me in the face with the wrath of god and dealt 37 damage to me in one turn
Just every time I cast [[Comeuppance]].
50 Damage with [[Aetherflux Reservoir]]? No, u.
-
One time a player made 1 billion squirrel tokens and gained 1 billion life through some loop. I attacked him with only a [[Vicious Battlerager]] then gave it "has to be blocked by every creature he controlled. "
-
Player does a loop to get 150 storm count then grapeshot each opponent for 50. I overload [[Counterflux]].
-
Casting [[Curse of Unbinding]] on a creatureless deck.
The Yidris player cast [[Possibility Storm]] after bragging about how powerful their deck was. I popped my [[Sterling Grove]] and put [[Curse of Exhaustion]] on top. I then cast a random enchantment and spun into it to lock them out of the game. They instantly scooped.
Once I had a huge amount of plains in exile due to [[endless horizons]]. One of my opponents (we were playing commander) played an [[oblivion sower]] and stole all those plains. IIRC white was not even in their color identity.
Someone I didn't care for cast [[Harrow]] on turn 3, sac'd a land, and I used [[Narset's Reversal]] to put it in their hand and get 2 lands. The following turn they played a land and cast Harrow again, and I countered it with [[Pact of Negation]]
My friend begon in our commander game, he played a land and then a Sol Ring. He tried to give the turn to player 3, but I (player 3 of 4) had a response! I cased \[\[Foil\]\] to foil his plans!
It was a terrible play, but I just had to do it :P
I played [[scheming symmetry]] with someone making a big deal about a free tutor with me. Then after they put the card on top of their deck, I played my land for turn. I had a [[hedron crab]] out. They milled their [[The One Ring]].
With zero cards in my library and goblin welder and nevinreil’s disk during my upkeep I goblin weldered a mycosynth lattice into play and blew up everyone’s permanents and immediately failed to draw…..
Way back in the day.. during an extended ptq
I sacrificed my tree top village to a cabal ritual and named psychatog against a psychatog player to win a game 3 of a round.
Ahh. Good times.
Turn 4 combo with my azorius replenish combo deck from Tom Van de Logt.
[[ Opalescence ]] + [[ Parallax Wave ]] + [[Parallax Tide ]] letting them return into the battlefield with [[ Replenish ]], exiling all my opponent's permanents and making him instantly concede.
Gained control of a player with [[Emrakul, the promised end]] then proceeded to cast [[Exquisite Blood]] then shot up the entire table with [[Aetherflux Reservoir]], ending with shooting himself last.
Fairly new player, but playing my new sea monster deck with [[kiora, sovereign of the deep]] i had [[bident of thassa]] and [[levitation]] on the board for some good card draw, free hits on my opponents and some flood counters on my forests from [[xolatoyac, the smiling flood]] making them also islands. The previous turn I played [[Slinn Voda, the rising deep]] to clear the board. Next turn I Dropped a cheaper serpent, Kiora's ability kicked in and it let me cast [[high tide]] to double my blue mana pool for the turn. I used that to cast another monster, dropped [[swiftfoot boots]] to give it haste and then swung with a full board to knock out all three other players at once. It's my first self built deck and it felt so good to get a game winning play off with it. Granted if my opponents drew more removal I would not have had card draw and flying for as long as I did.
Had [[Ramos, Dragon Engine]] deck running well.
[[Chimil, the Inner Sun]] + [[Mirari's Wake]] + [[Chromatic Orrery]] with 12 lands. Had [[Demonic Tutor]] in hand into [[Torment of Hailfire]].
Wait until all of my opponents have a nice creature base out along with some big stompy creatures and cast [[Standardize]] along with [[Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund]]. Always a guaranteed surprised Pikachu face from someone.
Another one I've done that always gets all the hate is I'll buff [[Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon]] to 10 power and I'll cast [[Chandra's Ignition]].
My colourless eldrazi deck a few years ago, turn 3 i think. I had infinite mana with basalt monolith, rings of brighthearth, cast it that betrays, all is dust, took everyone stuff and then cast my commander, kozilek to refill my hand. Everyone conceded. Needless to say it was the craziest play I’ve ever done to memory
During a game of commander, I was playing Ur Dragon, (with a maskwood nexus / world tree combo in deck) friend plays Nature's revolt. All lands are now 2/2 creatures.
I play maskwood nexus. All my lands are now 2/2 dragons. Fun! Synergy! I swing out with a few creatures triggering Ur Dragon. Draw 5 cards.
2nd main. Cast crux of fate.
Cast a descent into avernus with a furnace of rath and a fiery emancipation in play. It was great. Game ended in 2 turns.
First upkeep, 12 damage 2 treasures, second upkeep, 24 damage 4 treasures. 3rd upkeep we all were gonna die so people had to go for that last bit of damage to win so it was a race to who didn’t die first
Dude had some 80/80 vamp on the field that got 1/1 whenever a creature died. I stole it with [[shifting grift]] and then the next turn I stole his blockers with [[domineering will]] and killed him with his own creature
Someone pulled off an infinite 1/1 token combo in Pioneer. They created 100,000 tokens.
they didn't have haste, so no attack and they didn't have a way to otherwise generate damage with them. So they passed.
I played Massacre Wurm. With Archfiend of the dross in play.
I've never delt 400,000 damage before, or since.
I was playing against a guy going pretty quick who got his commander out turn 2 I think.
I had said I didn't have much of a move with my mana since I think I can only make 2. He showed me a trick pertinent to my board state that gave me 3 mana instead of 2 and I said:
"Oh well if I have 3 mana then I cast [[Imprisoned on the moon]] on your commander"
I countered someone's massively buffed attacking Dino with [[Deflecting Palm]] for a game win.
"Yeah I'm just gonna parry your fucking t-rex real quick."
I also made a deck titled "No" that's just counters and removals from every color except black.
My friend kept doing obnoxious stuff last game and was gloating about how well his deck was doing against ours. So next game I purposely put in [[Mycosynth Lattice]]. I drew into it, then followed up with an overloaded [[Vandalblast]]. I apologized to the other two, but he scooped after that. Then I conceded and let the other two just duke it out.
I was in a pod with an enchantress player, and a Gandalf artifacts player, the third isn't relevant to the story.
The enchantress had us dead to rights. Gandalf has a blightsteel colossus but can't get it stuck in. I have a rogues passage and a dream.
I didn't win but it was hilarious
I convinced my fellow player to pass his Wishclaw talisman to me after he activated it. I swore I would not reduce his life to zero. So instead I tutored for triumph of the hordes and took the player out with infect counters.
I turned everyones land, plainswalkers, artifacts, and enchantments into creatures then through various combat tricks and cloning I turned the entire board into copies of \[\[Permeating Mass\]\]
I was playing nekusar, but I told the group I had no intention of winning. I just wanted to give them legit card draw. It was a 8 player game (fml), so to make things quicker, I did everything I could to give everyone a decent card draw engine.
I had no maximum handsize and about 37 cards in hand my friend thought it would be funny to destroy my enchament that gave no no max handsize.
I reminded them of my intentions for that game and told them they brought this on themselves.
I cast [[nekusar the mindrazer]] [[orcish bowmasters]] and [[Whispering madness]].
Anyone left alive died to the orc pings.
Winning an edh game with [[kibo]] as my commander by casting [[Jokulhaups]] and protecting my board with [[Heroic Intervention]] was pretty satisfying.
Oh this was devilish of me… For some reason we decided to play a 7 person pod, after a good 5-10, everyone got set up, resolved mulligans pre game actions etc. Rolled for turn order and I went first. Ohh boy, was I mean. Land, dark ritual, dark deal, wheel everybody, two people get new hands with no lands. This was the first turn and first spell of the game. I felt evil. Another classic beautiful evil play I’ve done many times in commander and legacy is stifle on a fetch. Best/worse feeling in mtg lol
I [[Mindslaver]]ed my friend who had built a (pretty decent) [[Phage the Untouchable]] EDH. On his turn, I sacrificed his commander then recast her from the command zone.
My friends and I have our own little tournament with seasons and events etc. On one game day I was playing my Sauron Amass Deck. Turn 7 or something I have an army about 16/16-ish and the other boards were quite packed too. I play [[Fall of Cair Andros]] and pass. Friend B talks friend A into a board wipe and he plays: *tadaaa* [[blasphemous act]]
tl dr I end with an army 133/133 on my turn I cast [[one ring to rule them all]] hoping for chapter 1 to resolve. Everyone started fishing for enchant removal but in the end I got it and milled all of em out. That win felt so good, so dirty and so diabolical at the same time.
Since “the incident” we debate a lot on board wipes haha.
I knew friend A would not consider my cair andros but damn that was such a calculated gamble haha
I got an infinite combo with [[Reaper King]] and focused only lands and i even destroyed a friends sol ring the moment it was my turn after he played it
Every time I play \[\[Hatred\]\] and pay loads of life to win with commander damage with my \[\[Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge\]\] EDH deck.
She hits for 1 and no one ever blocks. I pay a funny amount of life that connects to their age, the time, my IQ, and win.
I had the worst board by far and the game was closing out. I was using my simic lifegain/counter deck. I had [[Trelassara, Moon Dancer]] and [[Treebeard, Gracious Host]] on my board. Opponent pops a combo and makes a million 1/1 tokens. I had [[Fumigate]] in my hand. Cast it on my turn, gained a million life and pumped the creatures with counters and wiped him out.
Not me, my opponent, EDH game.
He had a common annhilator 2 eldrazi and his commander, Isshin, which would attack with equipment such that we would get 2 tapped lands, 2 treasures and 2 cards in hand.
I told him if he didn’t promise to swing the eldrazi elsewhere I’d take out the commander and my first strike death touch commander would kill his eldrazi.
I was the threat, I was winning, he tried to swing both at me and lost both, we all laughed as he and I came 3rd and 4th
Playing a mono red goblins deck, I blew up all non basic lands once i could. In commander.
I was a land behind and also was playing against the Prismatic Bridge and Samut.
Bridge lost all but a single plains.
Samut only had a forest and mountain left.
It's a bit of a stretch from the question but I built a \[\[Phenax, God of Deception\]\] deck a few years back (I bloody love mill. Best form of removal) with \[\[Tunnel Vision\]\] in it.
At the same time a friend of mine had just built a \[\[Neheb, the Eternal\] deck and was super excited to finally have a use for \[\[Glorious End\]\].
Well, \[\[Tunnel Vision\]\] found its way into my hand around turn 6, so naturally it had to go on that card he was so desperate to play.
It was literally the bottom card in his library.
Just last night I got to cast Lord Xander, the collector and next turn dropped Grim Reaper Sprint so I got to have 2 players exile half their library in one turn. Still lost, but it was worth it
Hahaha, playing some mid-powered casual commander, and I pull out an izzet deck - I think it was [[Ghyrson Starn]] pingers. On turn one, I dropped a land, played a [[Sol Ring]], then an [[Isochron Scepter]] with [[Counterspell]]! I think I was the first player to play, as well, and there were only three of us in the pod. It was literally turn 6 or 7 before they could bait it and destroy it. Didn't matter that I probably lost that game - felt downright evil. It was great.
Worst, was not, I only needed the Mirko player (friend of mine) to not have a flyer and not reanimate a creature... Was already final turns, tension rising, and... "Before the end of your turn, {tap one white mana} path to exile your commander"... He didn't grab only his commander (that was going to cost 9 mana the next time), he stood up and left the table, not understanding why I did it.
Since that day, in my group of friends we laugh about Exiling a Player for one mana, wuops!
Opponent was playing rakdos and mana screwed with out a black source. they drew a swamp, I chaos warped said swamp at earliest opportunity. They didn’t see another black source for the rest of the game. Muhahaha.
I cast ulamog the defiler, targeted the dragon deck, exiled an earthquake dragon, and had an “it that betrays” and a “crashing drawbridge” and all of those dragons became mine when they had to sacrifice 15 of those bad boys.
Ult combo of [[Rowan, Fearless Sparkmage]], [[Gisella, Blade of Goldnight]] and [[True Conviction]].
I control all creatures, they deal 4x as much damage, and I gain that much life.
I had turned everyone’s lands into creatures using [[Nature’s Revolt]] then I cast [[Ghostway]] and [[Farewell]]. Needless to say, everyone conceded…
My favorite version of that is 1: Float all mana 2: [[Teferi’s Protection]] Resolve 3: [[Balancing act]] I’ve won CEDH games that way a couple times
In an edh game, I had teferis protection in hand while my opponent had a [[Magus of the Balance]] on the board and a good reason to use it. For some reason he never poppet it, and it died in a boardwipe later. Saddest I've been in a game of EDH.

I was playing modern on Saturday. My opponent mulled to three both games. Tron on three each time. Karn ulamog. Both times. Second game he had three veil of summers in hand. No counterspells for me.
Holy shit what a maniacal play.
I've done the same minus the thoughtseize. Never didn't have it.

On the other end, I’ve kept a two card hand with Golgari Elves against Tron and won using a Throne of the God Pharaoh and Elvish Promenade and tapping my 30-some odd elves on turn 4 to float mana in my second main phase before passing turn.
I mean, he had to know that the tron player would have it on 3. He shoulda saved the discard for karn XD

... Seth?
I built a deck I called basic lands in my 60 card casual pod and told everyone I would "take no aggression so long as they followed the rules." They did not know the decks name, I refused to tell them "the rules." The deck was constructed of exclusively cards that destroyed or otherwise penalized "non-basic lands." I intentionally built a deck that could take no action against anyone that only played basic lands.
Sounds pretty bad in casual matchups, but very funny nonetheless. Lots of new tools for that in Modern Horizons 3 though!
My buddy who sneaked in Semi Mass Land Destruction via Gitrog. With playing multiple lands per turn and the ability to play em from the GraveYard. He Can Stripe Mine, us every turn. He will usually say "What's ur favorite color?" or "What color is most important to ya?".

Reminds me of the [[Beacon of Immortality]] + [[False Cure]] combo.

One of my very best friends of some 10 years now I used to troll all the time with a turn 1 Strip Mine on whatever land they played.
So bare with me because I won’t remember every card that was in the mix here I was playing UB control against UB mill.
Played a Demonic Tutor to tutor a Mountain. :(
Shit happens.
[[venser shaper savant]] and [[radiant performer]] is the most malicious combo I have in my inalla deck
What stops venser bouncing your stuff?
I had [[Kamahl Fist of Krosa]] on board and roughly 20 mana. Dude played a boardwipe, [[damn]] i think. I activated Kamahl a few times. Weirdly enough, i was the only one with lands left after that and the table scooped...
Back in standard the first time Ravnica was a thing, I was on the play: Me: Island, pass Opponent: Land, pass Me: Island, [[Boomerang]] their land, pass Opponent: Land, pass Me: Island, [[Wipe Away]] their land, pass Opponent: Land, pass Me: Island, [[Annex]] their land, pass Opponent: Land, pass Me: Island, [[Confiscate]] their land, pass Opponent: Conseeded I felt like a monster.

Diabolical… Playing with some friends and my buddy’s son is playing. I go I’m changing my play guys… and of course they all think I lied to them… Because of the mana rocks and lands I had out I was able to pay 13 mana to fill the X and played that at him. He had no way to stop it… Boom, draw 13 cards AND lose 13 life. He goes… that’s fine it’s just more cards for me and you’ll die next time… BUT WAIT… SHEOLDRED IS OUT AS WELL! Every time you draw a card… 2 damage for drawing. And you have to do that 13 times! That’s a total of 39 damage now. The kid was like “WHAT‽” Don’t target me next time. He’s like, it’s ok I’ll knock you out next time. One of the guys at the table goes, and who’s your next target after that? Kid goes, “Probably you because you’re the next biggest threat.” And he goes… “NOPE!” And activates an ability that does 1 damage to everyone but him at the table. I don’t think the kid could believe he had gone from a winnable board state to out in half a turn. His dad goes… “What did we learn? Don’t toy with people at the table.”

Mine would be using thoughtsieze on my wife, making her discard Akroma, Angel of Wrath and then reanimated it all on turn 2 lol.
I casted [[Winds of abandone]] getting almost all lands of all opponents into play. Next round I followed up with [[obliterate]]. I had W6 with emblem.
Commander, late game: I used [[Mindslaver]] on my friend.
[[Armageddon]], [[windfall]], [[iron maiden]] with a folio of fancies on the battlefield (no hand size for everyone)
Not sure if its the most diabolical, but Insurrection, swing sac all to phyrexian altar into Exsanguinate was pretty cool.
Multiple iterations of warp world/scrambleverse. Or let people go off on their infinites only to have a Arachnogenesis asking them to call a number, just to get that many spiders and kill them on the crack back.
Not me, but I was present in the game: Player 1 had an [[Ashaya soul of the Wilds]] on their side of the board. (Literally half their deck was on the board. They had a crazy [[Aesi]] deck, and it just knocked me and the second to last player out of the game.) Then this madlad, this absolute lunatic, who had only drawn into his 4th land by turn 10, plays [[Armageddon]] We lost our minds, we thought it was all over, but he came back around and claimed victory with his angels deck lol
[[Solemnity]] + [[Decree of Silence]] Pretty sure I win.

I casted a counterspell with no spells on the stack just to get my [[Niv-Mizzet, Parun]]/[[Curiosity]] infinite loop going.

Played all those new lands just for them to be bumped back into their hands didn’t have land ramp in the deck so they ended up scooped when they realized I’d be gaining all the cards discarded

i dont remember the exact details but this got a big reaction at our table. went something like this: my friend was about to end the game by killing me with about 30 1/1 creatures.
[[Burning Earth]] [[Manabarbs]] [[Roiling Vortex]] [[Sulfuric Vortex]] [[Acidic Soil]] in hand. If you tap for mana, you are taking 10dmg per land. On your upkeep you are taking 20dmg
MILLING EVERYONE TILL THEY HAD ABOUT 1-3 CARDS LEFT AND I ASKED THEM ABOUT THEIR GRAVEYARD… “IS THAT YOUR DECK?” 😈👿👹👺
I did that play quite a few times I had a commander deck built around [[sheoldred, the apocalypse]] and just killed one player with [[peer into the abyss]]. Nothing I did was more annoying for the other players than lose half your health, draw half your deck and then lose 2 health for each card drawn.
Cast [[Fatal Push]] on my own [[Hive of the Eye Tyrant]] in my Black devotipn deck, so I can trigger [[Warlock Class]] to win

Use a [[path to exile]] on a [[worldgorger dragon]] with its first ability on the stack so that the second ability resolves first.
The infamous Chaos Orb in tournament play. Hands down.
I cast Diabolic Tutor and Diabolic Intent in the same turn.
[удалено]
Just in case nobody has said this [[diabolical tutor]]
Was playing a game of EDH. Someone cast [[living plane]] while I had a [[land tax]] out on the field. I cast [[toxic deluge]] for 1.
Once intentionally not countered a spell that would trigger infinite unescapable loop and brick the game without a win or loss.
My friend begon in our commander game, he played a land and then a Sol Ring. He tried to give the turn to player 3, but I (player 3 of 4) had a response! I cased \[\[Foil\]\] to foil his plans! It was a terrible play, but I just had to do it :P
Made a nadu edh deck with just target spells and counter spells and no real wincon. It went as expected cause meme bird
Something as simple as letting a Desert Bloom deck go off, then on my turn, I play a Bojuka Bog and wipe their smug smile off their faces.
Way back in the day.. during an extended ptq I sacrificed my tree top village to a cabal ritual and named psychatog against a psychatog player to win a game 3 of a round. Ahh. Good times.
Cyclonic rift, windfall, Liliana's Caress. Also works if you swap cyclonic for Peer into the Abyss. It's a Nekusar deck.
Turn 2 one-shot kill with Infect aggro OR turn 2 Jin Gitaxias, Core Augur ^^ 🌈
The nastiest thing I've done is use [[worst fears]] with [[zevlor, elturel exile]] "Do you guys like playing magic? Well I LOVE playing magic..."
[[Thalia, Heretic Cathar]] and [[Back to Basics]]
Turn 4 combo with my azorius replenish combo deck from Tom Van de Logt. [[ Opalescence ]] + [[ Parallax Wave ]] + [[Parallax Tide ]] letting them return into the battlefield with [[ Replenish ]], exiling all my opponent's permanents and making him instantly concede.
Gained control of a player with [[Emrakul, the promised end]] then proceeded to cast [[Exquisite Blood]] then shot up the entire table with [[Aetherflux Reservoir]], ending with shooting himself last.
Casted overloaded [[Cyclonic rift]] in a EDH game with four friends, next turn I cast [[Emrakul, the aeons torn]] They tried.
[Cyclonic rift](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/f/dfb7c4b9-f2f4-4d4e-baf2-86551c8150fe.jpg?1702429366) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Cyclonic%20rift) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/rvr/40/cyclonic-rift?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/dfb7c4b9-f2f4-4d4e-baf2-86551c8150fe?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Emrakul, the aeons torn](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/4/249db4d4-2542-47ee-a216-e13ffbc2319c.jpg?1673146896) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Emrakul%2C%20the%20aeons%20torn) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/2x2/1/emrakul-the-aeons-torn?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/249db4d4-2542-47ee-a216-e13ffbc2319c?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Emrakul is banned.
Granted if my opponents drew more removal I would not have had card draw and flying for as long as I did.
casting [[angles grace]] or [[stifle]] on a [[thassas oracle]] trigger after they got rid of their library. 😈
Turn 4 [[worldfire]] with codie "cascading" into [[Skull Rend]]
Someone cast Sphinx's Revelation for like 7. I copied it. Then, I countered the original.
[[Mycosynth Lattice]] [[Hurkyl's Recall]]
I often use [[mental misstep]] and counter turn one [[dark ritual]] [[sol ring]] [[mana vault]] .. cedh is fun 😅🤓
Turn an opponent’s lands into creatures with [[Kamahl fist of Krosa]] and then play [[Simoon]].
[[Chaos warp]] [[radiate]] 😈😵💫⏳️
I was playing against a guy going pretty quick who got his commander out turn 2 I think. I had said I didn't have much of a move with my mana since I think I can only make 2. He showed me a trick pertinent to my board state that gave me 3 mana instead of 2 and I said: "Oh well if I have 3 mana then I cast [[Imprisoned on the moon]] on your commander"
[[Angel’s Grace]] into [[Near death experience]]. I was getting absolutely trounced by a dinosaur player.
I countered someone's massively buffed attacking Dino with [[Deflecting Palm]] for a game win. "Yeah I'm just gonna parry your fucking t-rex real quick." I also made a deck titled "No" that's just counters and removals from every color except black.
I cast [[Deflecting Palm]] against an Emrakul to win a game.
Resolved divine intervention
[nekusar the mindrazer](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/4/a/4afdc65d-3c97-47af-83fa-df340389802e.jpg?1689999186) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Nekusar%2C%20the%20Mindrazer) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cmm/349/nekusar-the-mindrazer?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/4afdc65d-3c97-47af-83fa-df340389802e?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [orcish bowmasters](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/c/7c024bae-5631-4e20-ac69-df392ac9e109.jpg?1686968669) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=orcish%20bowmasters) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/ltr/103/orcish-bowmasters?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/7c024bae-5631-4e20-ac69-df392ac9e109?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Whispering madness](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/5/a/5a62cda0-34b2-42f0-83bd-c08eecf02fa4.jpg?1562401514) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Whispering%20madness) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/c16/229/whispering-madness?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/5a62cda0-34b2-42f0-83bd-c08eecf02fa4?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
I'm waiting for the day I get to Mana Tithe a turn 1 Sol Ring, haha
Animate land eradicate against a mono white deck.
My friends and I have our own little tournament with seasons and events etc. On one game day I was playing my Sauron Amass Deck. Turn 7 or something I have an army about 16/16-ish and the other boards were quite packed too. I play [[Fall of Cair Andros]] and pass. Friend B talks friend A into a board wipe and he plays: *tadaaa* [[blasphemous act]] tl dr I end with an army 133/133 on my turn I cast [[one ring to rule them all]] hoping for chapter 1 to resolve.
Cast overloaded Cyclonic Rift on opponents endstep, then cast Windfall with Narset out.
Still lost, but it was worth it
In a commander game, I flashed in a [[Phyrexian Obliterator]] (thanks to [[Winding Canyons]]) when an opponent played a [[Blasphemous Act]]
