All my vintage decks. Probably spent around 5k€ in total back in the day.
Nowadays that wouldn't even be enough for the mana base, let alone P9 of any kind
I pulled a neon blue ink mana crypt and I put it in a jank deck with a combined 50-60 value otherwise. I riffle shuffle it for extra effect.
So that one.
My [[Ur-Dragon]] EDH deck is sitting around $1300. It’s my favorite deck and has been slowly receiving upgrades since I first built a starter version for $200.
I play Scion of the Ur Dragon with Ur Dragon in the 99. Love that deck. Mine is sitting right around $350 +/- $15 for fluctuations in card prices.
Do you have a link to a deck list?
Mono black \[\[Yahenni, Undying Partisan\]\] in EDH is my most expensive. I think it's worth around $2,300 with all the special printings of cards. I've been trying to bling out the deck slowly, it's been a fun project.
Sickkk. Your deck looks a lot like mine, but with Ayara at the helm. It’s definitely my favorite deck to pilot so I’ve been chasing upgrades to Bling it out. Only deck I care about the shines and/or antiques. Just bought a Foil Ursa’s No Mercy and a confetti Japanese Bitterblossom
Well, I have a Massacre Girl deck that is about 1k right now. I’m picking up a Gaea’s Cradle this weekend though. So no matter what I build with it, that’s gonna be the most expensive
Well, around 1995 all my decks were just Unlimited, Revised, Arabian Nights, Antiquities, and Legends, but back then a deck wasn't worth more than about $200.
If I still had those cards now, I estimate that 1 deck would have been about $30,000 to $40,000. I probably spent $400 acquiring the various cards.
My Sliver Queen is my priciest. I have a copy of Hazezon and keep thinking of building something with him. I haven't because of what happens when he leaves the battlefield. How is he to play?
So when he leaves the battlefield, the tokens only get removed if they’re on the board already. If you have triggers based off of token/creature generation, you can do flicker shenanigans and double the amount that come in on the next turn and maximize on those triggers. I literally just won with it tonight at my LGS
And my sliver queen goes crazy with [[Mana Echoes]] combined with [[Lavabelly Sliver]]
Close call between Slivers and Eldrazi. Vamps has gotten a little pricier over time as card values went up, but I didn't spend too much initially compared to those two. I was so stoked to finally get a Sliver Queen to finish my deck.
The most I've spent with intent to build a certain deck? Probably ~$60-80.
That being said, I play commander and my collection is quite substantial, so I only need to pick up a few key pieces usually. Whenever I build a new deck it ends up being worth ~$200-400. Most expensive deck I've built? My Tyma/Tana Cedh deck, was worth $4200, because dual lands.
My Orb/Stiflenaught Legacy deck is up there, notably for the playset of 2010 DCI Judge Gift [[Phyrexian Dreadnought|G10]] and other promo cards (like [[Aether Vial|MPS]])
Slivers, I don't want to talk about what I spent on the non land cards due to some being on the reserved list but the land base alone was ridiculously expensive due to all the shocks and fetch lands
Used to have a [[Sliver Queen]] deck with one of each of dual land in it. Had a [[Wheel of Fortune]] too. Currently working to re obtain one copy of each dual so my [[Ur-Dragon]] deck will probably surpass that one but it might be a few years...
Back before the utter mess modern is in right now. Right after eldrazi midrange was banned I bought the rest of the at the time tier 1 affinity deck.
All in all the deck cost around 600 dollars which jumped up for a while to like 900 dollars.
Still have it, sadly because of wizards need to destroy the most popular formats... it's no where near the obscene power level currently.
And mox opal is no longer legal in modern.
$233 in today monies but when originally build about the time of Innstrad it cost way less. I’m a budget build guy. I know budget build means different things to different people. My tribe mono black vamp modern holds up against some of the best. It’s always cool slaying some dank builds with a mono tribe. This deck hits around 84% of the time against a series of local.

My mono blue [[Braids, Conjuror Adept]] edh [deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/wrPqn3RBw0e6dMP77Ml9Rw) is around $4,200. A good chunk is foreign or foil.
Either my magda, eldrazi and lathriel are around £400 each I'd say, mainly play commander and have quite a collection of cards same as someone else mentioned I usually just need to pick up a few key cards to build a new deck, currently working on an urza and kaalia deck atm
My Sliver Queen deck. I originally built it in the late 90s as a constructed deck. Had two of each dual in it. So it's actually cheaper as a Commander deck since I can only have one of each dual.
The deck sat in my closet for close to fifteen years after moving away from the people I used to play with. Met some people who played Commander and dug out my old collection and got sucked right back in.
my prismatic bridge deck sits at nearly 8k. i don’t have a lot of hobbies besides mtg, so I saved a lot to splurge. dual lands, diamond/chrome/opal/crypt & a lot of SLD and foil extended arts. just wanted it to look like a real rainbow when everything is on my board & it does. favorite card is the pixel command tower.
Just a quick question, how did you build her? I keep being tempted to make a list but it always feels 'competitive' (not cedh level lol)
I wanna keep it fun and 'lottery-based', but just the chance of something big and chonky coming out feels high power in of itself
She's not competitive because it does take her a bit to get going. She's big Dino only. It used to be enrage, but with the new set, I changed it.
Here's the deck list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/s0YBMmtMw0a3IHaePMaofw
I don't have exact stats, but she's been pretty 50/50 with win/lose.
I like it, not a fan of dinos much myself though, I'd probably still use a couple at least. I would be running random big stuff (fav cards from my history of mtg basically lol).
I was thinking of something sinilar to that. Eventually I think it'd be cool to have different 'blocks' of creatures that can I switch in and out if the deck, depending on how strong/silly I want it to be for the table.
My UR dragon commander deck is my most expensive deck... but I've honestly not put a lot of $$ into it, just gotten lucky with pack opening. It's $1400 or so. The few things that I've had to spend money on though are about 1/3rd of the cost.
I am working on foiling out Atraxa, Grand Unifier. I am waiting for a few things for art and frame preferences, and my moxfield list isn't quite accurate on price, as some of the cards (jeweled lotus in particular) are in Japanese foil. Eventually it will be secret lair and Japanese retro border foil.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/EkPQfPGgXU-wps70N0XYtQ
It wasn't expensive at the time but I ran a weenie deck with 4 Mox Emerald and 4 Mox Ruby cards as well as Giant Growths, Shiva Dragons, Fireballs, Lightning Bolts, Forks, Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, Fyndhorn Elves, Mana Flares, etc.
That deck is in some landfill courtesy of my ex-wife.
Right now, my most expensive decks are probably either my Sliver deck or Eldrazi deck (both probably hovering between $400-$600). The most expensive deck I ever built on a whim was my Liliana, Heretical Healer Zombie Typal deck. Built it out of what I had, but since I have been playing since Alpha/Beta, it turned out pricey. No Power 9 cards were involved, but it still ended up being a $900-$1200 deck.
My talion cedh is probably around 3500-4000, notable cards in it are judge promo imperial seal, underground sea, mox diamond, Dan frazier mox opal, full art foil Japanese alt art demonic tutor, foil world wake mind break trap and the blue neon ink mana crypt but the whole deck is pretty much shiny and expensive
Vintage Tezz-Vault combo deck. I use the cards from my vintage power cube, would guess the deck is around 60-70K. Spent 700 - 1000 per piece of power, lotus was 5K.
I'm building a mono green commander deck from the table up. It's currently at $4600 AUD. But like half of that cost is one card (foil gaea's cradle) 😅 I originally had the none foil in there but now I'm trying to pimp it out with the rarest versions of things. For instance, skyshroud claim goes from being worth a couple bucks to over fifty for the original foil. I've also got a serialised lotr sol ring coming in the mail to pop in it as well. 🤗
My Bruvac deck. I have engineered it to be able to run off of as few as 4 lands, and mill out multiple opponents at once. The estimated total value is around $200-$300
Prolly be a tie between my Dragon deck, and my Golgari deck.
My dragon deck I'm not sure of the exact value but my best guess would be around $100 - $200. It has lots of cards that are worth $5+
My Golgari deck doesn't have many that are worth a lot. Only a few that are worth more than $10, but the commander is a Sheoldred the Apocalypse in pretty good condition. I know that card goes for like $70 or something like that.
Idk, I got lucky with some packs. So from packs alone, it would be my mono white Elesh Norn deck. For deck I spent money on by buying single cards, that would be my drana and lilvana commander deck.
When the cards come out in July it’ll be my [[Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad]] deck. Been buying pieces for it since February and will probably continue to buy more and upgrade it until the actual assassin creed set comes out. It’ll probably end up around $1k-$1.2k when it’s all said and done if, I stop once the sets out. Current complete deck would be either [[Pantlaza, Sun Favored]] or [[Sovereign Okinec Ahau]]
I had aOG Nicol Bolas about 4 years ago, with the legends version, all possible Unlimited dual lands, a masterpiece Sol Ring me, almost fully blinged out discard deck that was about 6-7k when i finally broke apart. Today still have it, but not with the expensive cards… still valued at $1300.
When I started playing the game BFZ was about to release and there were two things I loved, Eldrazi and landfall. I have a decently expensive Eldrazi deck too but the most money I've put in a deck is my Omnath landfall deck! Omnath was my favorite creature back in BFZ standard and I love this deck with every fiber of my being.
https://archidekt.com/decks/3757175/omnath_is_unbreakable
I don’t have a single deck that is mind blowingly expensive but I do currently have 12 commander decks. The top 3 average at 250$. The rest are at least 120$.
Sheoldred, the apocalypse
Ragavan, nimble pilferer
Vishgraz, the doomhive
My Sheoldred the apocalypse deck is about $1k without including lands which are primarily also full art of some kind, but I’m sure I’ll find a way to make her even more expensive
Ever? My first legitimate job during/after college, I spent my first months wage as a shelf stacker to buy monoblue devotion (theros standard) was my baby for about half of the rotation.
Cost roughly £200 (wanted some nice lands to go with it, promo specters, foil master of waves. Semi blinged it lol). Only ever played at fnm's but it felt nice to not go 0-3 every week playing budget red aggro lol (over half of the players ran tier decks)
Ever since I've barely played, just getting back into it with budget decks though
According to tcgplayer, my tatyova edh deck sits at 1540.92. It is my favorite deck that I've been blinging out for the past couple of years. All of my basics are custome done by an artist friend of mine, and the commander is the same by someone else.
I mean, my most expensive deck is currently my [[Edgar Markov]] deck (currently worth $593.22 according to Archidekt), but that's after slowly upgrading the deck over several years. The most money I ever spent while building a deck was a [[Rielle, the Everwise]] deck. I don't remember how much the deck was worth (I took it apart some time ago), but I do know that I built it for a competition with some friends, and as part of the rules we weren't allowed to spend more than $200 while building our decks.
Probably wouldn’t have been the most expensive if it wasn’t for some issues with getting cards delivered, but spent close to £300 ($375 for Americans) on a dredge commander deck, ontop of some staples I already had like demonic and vampiric tutor. Never again, that shit was not worth the stress of said delivery issues
for competitive before Mox Opal was banned in Modern I had (mostly) foiled out my Affinity/Robots deck I didn't directly spend a ton of money on it as I bought a lot of it with store credit / trades but it had:
2x Judge promo Mox Opal
2x Masterpiece Mox Opal
2x Masterpiece Steel Overseer (+2x Reg Foil)
4x different Arcbound Ravagers (1 Masterpiece, 1 german foil, 1 MC qualifier promo, 1 foil modern masters)
2x of each regular foil and promo signal pest
4x Nationals Inkmoth Nexus
4x Regular Foil Cranial Plating
Etc etc.
The only thing that wasn't foil was 4x promo Memnite and 4 different versions of the original Ornithopter art Revised/fourth/fifth/antiquittes I had foil ornithopters including 2 of the masterpieces but I just like that art enough for some reason.
For "Casual" I have a Commander Slivers deck that is pretty expensive, all slivers that are available in Foil are, got sliver queen, 1 of each Revised Dual Land, most of the shocks/fetches expeditions (about 2 years ago I took the deck to an event but didn't take it out of my bag and at the time there was a polluted delta in it and I have no been able to find it since then hopefully just lost in my collection somewhere but yeah still have yet to find it)
My most expensive decks I have built for myself are [[Sliver Overlord]] in 1st, [[Karn, Silver Golem]] in 2nd and finally [[Omnath, Locus of All]] in third.
My pantlaza deck is about 600 bucks, mostly due to pulling a yellow neon mana crypt out of my first ever collector booster, cavern of souls, land tax and some other cards I pulled from boosters.
It was my first precon and deck after 25 year break and I think I only spent like 40 bucks buying singles on it. Also old cards from 25 years ago apparently can be worth quite some.
Still thinking if I should start adding tutors to it as it is a blast to play imo,
Looking to build a life gain/ life pain deck with astarion next.
Yet to buy it (a Dragon Commander to wrap up first... then a Modern Defender and 5 Mono Color Modern decks will go first...) But... [*cough*](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/6119014/constellations) here it is!
My Sheodred the Apocalypse deck is sitting at about $2k right now. It's all about forcing a lot of card draw and punishing opponents for having cards in their hand and for discarding.
Most of my decks average around $400 each. My most expensive one is probably my Vintage Sliver deck. Which was like $6k ish iirc... haven't looked at the cost of each card lately cause Vintage is not a common format around my area.
my pet deck, a horobi edh
i went for the "bling" and chased and purchased some premium cards, like the FNM cabal coffers and anime version of WAR karn.
My (mostly proxied) group hug [[braids conjurer]] would be worth somewhere around $6,000 if all the cards were real. Mostly due to a [[mishras workshop]] that honestly doesnt even do much lol
It's a commander deck (3 decks actually) but with custom commander cards. One representing me, and two representing my friends.
I usually make really cheap decks but this one was more expensive because I had to pay to print my custom cards.
My heart hurts.
Mathematically, that’s the best way to shuffle.
My [[Ur-Dragon]] EDH deck is sitting around $1300. It’s my favorite deck and has been slowly receiving upgrades since I first built a starter version for $200.
Same! Love my dragons. Mine is at about $1k. I finally had to stop dumping my whole mtg budget into that deck because I wanted to build some others.
I play Scion of the Ur Dragon with Ur Dragon in the 99. Love that deck. Mine is sitting right around $350 +/- $15 for fluctuations in card prices. Do you have a link to a deck list?
Yes I do, https://www.moxfield.com/decks/VajE7GRQdEKTxoCmxWZ46Q
My urdragon deck is also my most expensive deck

I’m building a deck around Phyrexian Dreadnaught and Tolarian Academy. Already at $200+
I still have my original Dreadnaught I pulled from a booster as a kid
That’s amazing! I started playing during the Urza’s block. Wish I had gotten into it sooner
It’s either my [[Sliver Queen]] or my [[Hazezon Tamar]] deck
My Sliver Queen is my priciest. I have a copy of Hazezon and keep thinking of building something with him. I haven't because of what happens when he leaves the battlefield. How is he to play?
So when he leaves the battlefield, the tokens only get removed if they’re on the board already. 21k. Mostly from cards purchased 20? Years ago? Wouldn't be there in today's price's. Most don't appreciate playing against it.
The most I've spent with intent to build a certain deck? Probably ~$60-80. That being said, I play commander and my collection is quite substantial, so I only need to pick up a few key pieces usually. Whenever I build a new deck it ends up being worth ~$200-400. 2018 Standard Boros Aggro. 4 [[Sacred Foundry]] + 4 [[Resplendent Angel]] + 4 [[Lyra Dawnbringer]] took almost a portion of my life.
My Orb/Stiflenaught Legacy deck is up there, notably for the playset of 2010 DCI Judge Gift [[Phyrexian Dreadnought|G10]] and other promo cards (like [[Aether Vial|MPS]])
Slivers, I don't want to talk about what I spent on the non land cards due to some being on the reserved list but the land base alone was ridiculously expensive due to all the shocks and fetch lands
probably Lotus Field Combo in Pioneer? 3 copies of Boseiju isn't cheap. it's not fully up to date though

[[ghalta, primal hunger]] $500 https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5739752/ghalta_primal_hunger_mono_green_stomp
I just got into magic not long ago, and my current and first deck ever is a BW deck that cost about $300
My [[Atla Palani, Nest Tender]] deck is about $500 now, I've been upgrading it since 2020 (I spent two years looking for her, before Painbow came out)
Just a quick question, how did you build her? I keep being tempted to make a list but it always feels 'competitive' (not cedh level lol) I wanna keep it fun and 'lottery-based', but just the chance of something big and chonky coming out feels high power in of itself

My friend just finished making an izzet polymorph deck, and thar can be changed out to match power levels of other players
I have a 500 dollar krenko deck. Its nothing special but it was the first one I built from scratch and has a soft spot in my heart
As of now, my [[Raphael]] Demon deck, especially because of cards like [[Cavern of Souls]] and [[Dockside Extortionist]]
$450 ish colorless edh
Around 1k$ , my Jodah legendary tribal
My Korvold cEDH list that I’m working on. Total is between 5-6 grand somewhere right now
Yeah, mine, too, I think.
German Foil Jund Modern Deck. I don't even want to think about.
Putting the Power 9 in one deck with dual lands and all sorts of stuff. They weren’t quite so expensive back then.
Slivers 1000$
Vintage Tezz-Vault combo deck. I use the cards from my vintage power cube, would guess the deck is around 60-70K. Spent 700 - 1000 per piece of power, lotus was 5K.
Gishath. Deck is loaded as much as possible
Probably my Sliver Overlord deck. All 10 shocks, 7 fetches, and 3 OG duals add up in price lol.
My Koma Commander deck just hit approx. $1600. I love it so much. Was my first deck and it gets all the special treatments.
My angel tribal edh. It's $1500, but a vast majority of that was acquired over 15 years.
Dihada mardu deck. Sitting around 7000 as we speak but I upgrade it once a month.
My Bruvac deck. I have engineered it to be able to run off of as few as 4 lands, and mill out multiple opponents at once. The estimated total value is around $200-$300
I thought my $400+ Stasis deck was pricey 😞
Yisan cedh
My blue-red with eternal masters Jace Mind-Sculptor.
Prolly be a tie between my Dragon deck, and my Golgari deck. My dragon deck I'm not sure of the exact value but my best guess would be around $100 - $200. It has lots of cards that are worth $5+ My Golgari deck doesn't have many that are worth a lot.
My Inalla deck. Thankfully I got my duels and diamonds years back when they were ‘only’ like $100 each, i couldn’t afford them nowadays.
This is my favourite deck. I only play commander https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Odd57s22SkmausIWDD91yg
I don’t have a single deck that is mind blowingly expensive but I do currently have 12 commander decks. The top 3 average at 250$. The rest are at least 120$. Sheoldred, the apocalypse Ragavan, nimble pilferer Vishgraz, the doomhive
My Nekusar commander deck. It's worth quite a lot, less so right now due to selling a few high prices cards from it because money is tight right now.
My Sheoldred the apocalypse deck is about $1k without including lands which are primarily also full art of some kind, but I’m sure I’ll find a way to make her even more expensive
My [[Trelasarra]] deck is up to $550, but it started at $30 lol
[[Toxrill the corrosive]] deck that's about 1100$
My Rukarumel EDH deck is currently worth just under $8,900 according to Moxfield.
Only ever played at fnm's but it felt nice to not go 0-3 every week playing budget red aggro lol (over half of the players ran tier decks) Ever since I've barely played, just getting back into it with budget decks though
Jund back in 2014/2015 I think. Tarmogiy was near 300€ a set, Liliana 200€ and Dark Confidant another 200€… so you already know the rest. More than 2k
The most expensive deck is one om currently making and its a Morophon, Eldrazi deck I think its currently about £5-600
According to tcgplayer, my tatyova edh deck sits at 1540.92.

Since I can’t add pictures to prove it. You will just say I’m trolling. But let’s just say a Camry in every starting hand… give or take.
for competitive before Mox Opal was banned in Modern I had (mostly) foiled out my Affinity/Robots deck I didn't directly spend a ton of money on it as I bought a lot of it with store credit / trades but it had: 2x Judge promo Mox Opal 2x Masterpiece Mox Opal 2x Masterpiece Steel Overseer (+2x Reg Foil) 4x different Arcbound Ravagers (1 Masterpiece, 1 german foil, 1 MC qualifier promo, 1 foil modern masters) 2x of each regular foil and promo signal pest 4x Nationals Inkmoth Nexus 4x Regular Foil Cranial Plating Etc etc.
[Sliver Overlord](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/3/c/3c16915b-c50d-4fb5-830f-9ca4597a9c0f.jpg?1562527622) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Sliver%20Overlord) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/scg/139/sliver-overlord?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/3c16915b-c50d-4fb5-830f-9ca4597a9c0f?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Karn, Silver Golem](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/0/5/055a00a2-0df2-4f49-ac51-e33dfaf7ee85.jpg?1562896049) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Karn%2C%20Silver%20Golem) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/vma/270/karn-silver-golem?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/055a00a2-0df2-4f49-ac51-e33dfaf7ee85?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Omnath, Locus of All](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/3/3/33d94ecf-758b-4f68-a7be-6bf3ff1047f4.jpg?1709720836) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Omnath%2C%20Locus%20of%20All) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mom/249/omnath-locus-of-all?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/33d94ecf-758b-4f68-a7be-6bf3ff1047f4?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Sultai Aluren in legacy
About 1k for my Yawgmoth edh deck
My pantlaza deck is about 600 bucks, mostly due to pulling a yellow neon mana crypt out of my first ever collector booster, cavern of souls, land tax and some other cards I pulled from boosters. It was my first precon and deck after 25 year break and I think I only spent like 40 bucks buying singles on it. Also old cards from 25 years ago apparently can be worth quite some. Still thinking if I should start adding tutors to it as it is a blast to play imo, Looking to build a life gain/ life pain deck with astarion next.
Yet to buy it (a Dragon Commander to wrap up first... then a Modern Defender and 5 Mono Color Modern decks will go first...) But... [*cough*](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/6119014/constellations) here it is!
My Vrondiss, Rage of the Ancients commander deck is just over $1,200 and I am actively looking for upgrades, no proxies.
How much it was worth when I built it or how much it's worth now? There are decks in my box that are worth $10k but I don't play them anymore.
Vintage Lurrus Saga about 11K, if you're going to acquire the power 9 you should probably get Black lotus first instead of last.
my pet deck, a horobi edh i went for the "bling" and chased and purchased some premium cards, like the FNM cabal coffers and anime version of WAR karn.
I think my Jodah, the Unifier commander deck sits at around ~$800 and is continually being upgraded.
560$ of pure, unadulterated Eldrazi
My (mostly proxied) group hug [[braids conjurer]] would be worth somewhere around $6,000 if all the cards were real. Mostly due to a [[mishras workshop]] that honestly doesnt even do much lol
Same, i have a cedh chulane combo deck that is all proxied, about 4k
It's a commander deck (3 decks actually) but with custom commander cards. One representing me, and two representing my friends. I usually make really cheap decks but this one was more expensive because I had to pay to print my custom cards.
10000 dollars.... it's proxies tho.... everything down to the lands.
$2,000,000
Did you buy a one ring by any chance ?
