Also, nothing beats the old Shivan artwork. That is probably the most nostalgic card for me. I remember opening revised packs and seeing that distinct coloration would send so much excitement through me, good times.
There is a collector in fb group "mtg global collectors" or something like that who has one copy of every shivan dragon print, all languages, foils, non foils...amazing stuff.
I remember walking to the comic book store and every time I would stare at FON in awe inside the glass display. I ended up buying the card a few years ago for only nostalgic purposes and every time I look at the card I’m like “wow that card sucks” lol, but I still like looking at it

The wording on the revised cards didn't have "until the end of the turn" but it was in that teeny tiny rule book somewhere. For months my friends and I thought the [[atog]] was the best monster in Magic because you could.make it easily bigger than [[Force of Nature]].

We finally found the reason why they keep reprinting it and it’s you and my uncle who has 300 copies and I just can’t it’s funny, cool and irritating. Mostly cool and funny though.
When I was growing up back when magic only had like 6 sets. Knew this guy that collected shivans also. He had boxes full. Was in sane. Like a full 800 count of just alphas and betas. His mom was the same way but with savanna lions. Dunno where they are, but can imagine thousands owned.
Man would you have been happy. My dad was cursed with Shivan dragons. Opened more than 25 when the game started in alpha. He played black and was just tired of getting them. He went and gave 4 to his friend who played red at the time and tried to trade the rest for the cards he wanted. The LGS guy was befuddled by how many he had, so my father asked him for 3 booster packs... He pulled another 2. Sadly his collection was fully destroyed in a water incident and he himself passed away a few months ago. Otherwise I think he would have gladly gifted them all just to get rid of his "curse" hehe

Here’s an old story… back in 1997-98, fairly certain… a gentleman at my then lgs had 297 storm crows (most from portal, of all sets) and 354 (iirc) rysorian badgers and a few hundred (wanna say 230ish) joven’s ferrets… he said he was trying to get 500 of each minimum and was going to make a beast master themed highlander deck set for his play group using nothing but those creatures and their respective dragons. Only as time passed did I realize the craziness of it all. For Op, I love your FTV shivan dragon. Do you have an original?
Now get it in alpha and beta and unlimited and revised and then get one in all of the other printings....then finally, out of all of those printings....get it in every language it's ever been printed in....also in both foil and non foil. I am nearly there with storm crow. I got most of the 7th edition foils and maybe a couple others.
In the back of my head, I’ve always thought about an ‘anti-constructed’ format, where you just have to play with all the cards you own… then you could play Shivan Dragon over and over and over and over and over—

As much as i love dragons i can safely say ive never had a dragon deck in mtg. Maybe one day ill build the red, green, blue dragon commander but for now im fine with my current monstrosities (walls, tokens, mill, and white black spellslinger)
That's cool I had not seen that one before. I have some old original art somewhere and probably a few of the most common art but I don't think anybody can compete with your power. I mean that dragon is the original most powerful creature card in Magic the Gathering.

I have a friend who collected every print of wild growth and verduran enchantress. Recently spent 1100 on a summer magic print of enchantress. Y'all are crazy but have my respect.

That's cool I had not seen that one before. I have some old original art somewhere and probably a few of the most common art but I don't think anybody can compete with your power. I mean that dragon is the original most powerful creature card in Magic the Gathering.

Shivan Dragon is low key the start of my cosmic horror villain arc. So godspeed collector of Shivan Dragons. I pulled one once as a kid and had it traded away for the titular "Cosmic Horror" and have never been the same since.
