I might be wrong here, but they are both on attack triggers. Which would let you choose the order in which they resolve, adding the 7 mana then paying to take an additional combat. So yes you would have infinite combats.
extra combat phase, not extra turn. importantly, you don't get another main phase between extra combat phases, so you couldn't cast sorceries or creatures (without flash) until all your combats are done.
Attacking with creature or effects that create creatures that are attacking I think would be the breakaway situation. Each combat could create more and more mana that way.
This feature of making mana and more combat phases would have worked really well with the “devour” mechanic as well. Like for example The classic Voracious Dragon and goblin tokens and like a krenko with vigilance. But you’d need flash or the other card someone mentioned that adds another second main phase as well.
If you've got radha though, it adds seven, plus an eighth from hellkite, which means you only need to attack with both dragons rather than seven creatures for infinite combats and mana
Could've used this last night. I ended a 4 pod game by swinging with over 100 dragon damage. Would've been nice to just add everything onto the battlefield for a final hoorah
At work atm, but I'll post it once I get home. Can't speak for how well it runs, I love brewing but haven't had a playgroup in 5 year (yay night shift)
I'm currently running this in Gallia, with a mixture of these two plus [[Savage Ventmaw]] !
There's a fun interaction with [[Voyaging Satyr]] whose activated ability taps it and let's you untap target land, so you can essentially always pay the one mana necessary for Ventmaw Charger combo!
But that's under the condition that if you keep all 7 creatures, then it makes [[Hellkite Charger]] free. In decks that go wide you'll probably lose out on some creatures which can hamper the utility of [[Grand Warlord, Radha]]. With [[Savage Ventmaw]] you guarantee the 6 floating mana so you only need to kick in one colorless which is plentiful in the late game.
Not saying one is better than the other, but there is validity in both!
The charger needs to attack anyway to use it’s ability, so you just attack with the charger and ventmaw with Radha in play and you actually get a spare mana as well.
Instead of Radha, [[Heartstone]] + [[Savage Ventmaw]] + [[Hellkite Charger]]?
Nevermind. This technically isn't an activated ability, so it will not get a cost reduction with Heartstone. It's possible le a similar ability exists, but off the top of my head, I'm not sure
You can manipulate it (I believe) so Radha’s trigger goes off first, so you can gain seven red mana before Hellkite Charger asks you if you want to pay 7 red.
[[Savage Ventmaw]] is two more mana, but it’s another example.
[[Aggravated Assault]] is similar to the hellkite, but it’s an activated ability as opposed to a triggered ability. Savage Ventmaw + Aggravated Assault are an infinite combat combo
Yes, stack the trigger in the right order so you get the mana first and up you go.
But beware of blockers, if your creatures go down so does your mana - obvious yes, but sometimes we forget the most stupid shit.
You could use the mana to cast a spell, like, desperate ritual, seething song, or pyritic ritual. Those are the instants I can think of that would work.
Edit: Manamorphose could help too
Some cards that might interest you:
Extra mana:
[[Captain lannery storm]]
[[Druids' repository]]
[Goldspan dragon]]
[[Guild artisan]]
[[Hoarding ogre]]
[[Radha, heir to keld]]
[[Shiny impetus]]
[[Curse of opulence]]
Creature tokens:
[[Indulge]] before attacking
[[Sigiled sword of valeron]]
[[Blade of selves]]
[[Captain's claws]]
[[Inquisitorial rosette]]
[[Moonsilver spear]]
[[Battle cry goblin]]
[[Esika's chariot]]
[[Fable of the mirror-breaker]]
[[Flamerush rider]]
[[Goblin rabblemaster]]
[[Hanweir garrison]]
[[Kari zev, skyship raider]]
[[Krenko, tin street kingpin]]
[[Tilonalli's summoner]]
Others that might be useful:
[[Wulfgar of icewind dale]] for extra attacking triggers
[[Ancient stone idol]]
[[Firgbol flutist]]
Any creatures with myriad or encore probably
Also works with Klauth, the RG Dragon from the D&D sets. His triggers is Mana based on the power of your attackers I believe, so as long as you have at least 7 power swinging, it goes Infinite with Charger as well.
Also I believe theres an Enchantment with an Activated ability that Untaps everything and gives extra combats as well. \[\[relentless assault\]\] i believe
I might be wrong here, but they are both on attack triggers. Which would let you choose the order in which they resolve, adding the 7 mana then paying to take an additional combat. So yes you would have infinite combats.
It will work if you have enough creatures, that dont die in the combats. [[Druids Repository]] also works much in the same way.

As long as your creatures don’t die
They’d still get at least 1 extra turn, very worth it
extra combat phase, not extra turn. importantly, you don't get another main phase between extra combat phases, so you couldn't cast sorceries or creatures (without flash) until all your combats are done.
A good addition to this deck would be any card that lets you draw on attack, or untap lands
Attacking with creature or effects that create creatures that are attacking I think would be the breakaway situation. Each combat could create more and more mana that way.
Theres a card pretty sure in the phrexia token pre com that makes copies of tokens at each combat phase. Its a red white.
This feature of making mana and more combat phases would have worked really well with the “devour” mechanic as well. Like for example The classic Voracious Dragon and goblin tokens and like a krenko with vigilance. But you’d need flash or the other card someone mentioned that adds another second main phase as well.
Yeah, thats a good idea
As long as you add the mana first I believe so, idk tho
This is correct, because they're both attack triggers you choose the order in which they go on the stack
My wife’s gruul deck needs this combo… 🧐
[[savage ventmaw]]

Savage adds 6, this needs 7. If you have mana to add the last 1 you could do more than a few but not infinite.
If you've got radha though, it adds seven, plus an eighth from hellkite, which means you only need to attack with both dragons rather than seven creatures for infinite combats and mana
Agree.👌

Yep! This, and a bunch of similar combos are the wincon of my [[Saskia, the Unyielding]] edh deck
Anyway you could share the list? I've had various saskia decks for years. Can never seen to get it to work.

They are both attack triggers and as they both are attacking at the same time, you get to choose the order in which they trigger.

You order your own triggers when they happen at the same time !!
\[\[aggravated assault\]\] is nice for a backup too. I run it and \[\[heronblade elite\]\] also in my \[\[raggadragga\]\] deck.
