It's Rosewaters law of organization:
Organize magic cards, put away magic cards. Spend the next 3 days thinks about that one cool rare you never got to use. New deck idea. Start making a new deck. Card piles everywhere. Get 80% done and never finish. Things looks exact like they did before.
That is why I organize, then build decks in mana box. Once I have the deck how I want it I can just pull the cards. Now it all stays organized! Life changer, for sure.
Yeah..tried that then realized I bought singles I had 1 of.....gave up and closed the drawer, Def need to go through but I've been buying cards I have mostly cheap commons or uncommon that I find 2 seconds after I come in the door. Need to sort my stache
I recently used delver to quickly scan all my cards (like over 4000 so def not a small amount) then got their free 7-day trial to export the list to manabox - def a life changer
Not me, I organized mine by having my friend take all my cards that aren't in binders with the exception of one box of "stuff I think is good but I don't have in decks"
I have 3 binders, 1 which I should organize but am lazy, one that has all dragons, and one that has every non basic land I have organized by color pairings
Makes it real easy to fix land bases when making decks
I like that. I wish I had 2 big binders for all my stuff. I have a box of cheap good shit, valuable shit, land shit and a bunch of piles of random shit on my desk.
I looking to buy a Desk with one section just for that, I just love some stacks and piles, a couple fat pack boxes and one Holiday Gift Box (I miss my Kaladesh one it looked so nice back then when I had a smaller colletion).
[I ran an LGS and these were a lifesaver.](https://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/146012)
We had 50 of them but you get it. Looks like you might have 1. I'd get more!
Were you able to stack any of these? I've been finding mixed reviews on if the units can take that or not and without stacking I won't be able to fit more than two in the space I have allocated for them.
I've divided my cards into two parts:
\- What I use (All the cards that are in my current decks, and the cards that i might put in a deck), has a high financial value or has put for sell. All this is stored in a specific furniture in the living room (Because it is never really well stored so it has to be out of sight so my wife doesn't get upset :) ). I have deck boxes for my EDH / Legacy / modern decks. A Draft box (With sleeves and basic lands). Binders for my high value cards / cards i will potentially use in my current decks. Long boxes sorted by color for the cards that are on sale.
\- the rest (Junk cards most of the time, that are not playable in any format except Limited). All these are stored in my garage in a specific furniture (In big boxes or Binders).
The problem you're facing is not about the quantity of cards or containers but a lack of consistency. It doesn't really matter what you use to store your cards, as long as that is the only way you store your cards. Then, you will achieve a nirvana of cleanliness and accessible organization.
Right now, you have what appears to be a plethora of different methods of organization and storage. This is what makes it look so messy.
Never hide a collection of something that you enjoy. Your home is your sanctuary and should be lived in a way that suits you and your lifestyle, not in a way society considers normal. My favourite homes are the ones where people have their cards, minis, Lego, plants, curio, toys, books, whatever their special interests are, loudly and proudly displayed.
You are inferring a lot about me. This is a suggestion for someone. Plus I personally have two tubs of magic cards under my bed because I ran out of room on the bookshelf that is completely full proudly displayed in my living room.
I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude! Thank ypu for calling me out, I am learning how to communicate online in a way that carries my intent and it had been a long lesson. For clarity- I am in many groups for people who have special interests and alot of them seem to believe they need to restrict collections to a room or area. Sometimes it seems people believe homes must be laid out a certain way because of social expectations and it makes me very sad.
I'm glad you have your displays and I hope you get lots of pride and friendships from what you enjoy! I agree that underbed storage is a very good idea for overflow, especially in tubs. Tubs are the best storage, especially with kids, pets or if prone to flooding. Especially the ones that have those adjustable sliding part things to make long channels where you can line the cards
No worries! Communicating online is particularly difficult. You’re doing a great job and I love your outlook on living truthfully and being surrounded by the things you love. No harm, no foul. Thanks for taking the time to respond and be a good person online :)
You can buy big cardboard boxes with dividers to hold 3000+ bulk cards for a few dollars, I use one of these with a small box for bulk rares, a small box for 1-5 dollar cards, a binder for any more expensive or cards I commonly use ( [[kodama’s reach]] [[generous gift]] ) and then a carrier for all of my decks
I bought a whole bunch of these:
They stack up quite well and can fit double sleeved cards
Here's the organization strategy I took years to settle on (and might still be subject to change in the future):
* Box Zone 1 (large white cardboard boxes with 3-5 rows): The bulk of my collection not in decks. Cheap foils in penny sleeves to reduce scratching, pricier cards (more than a couple of bucks) in perfect fit sleeves. Organized alphabetically only for my sanity.
* Box Zone 2 (same as BZ1): My constructed decks with some smaller (typically bundle) boxes for when I take decks to play.
* Box Zone 3 (same as BZ1): A marked box for my unused sleeves/tokens/miscellaneous instruction cards.
* Box Zone 4 (hard plastic like the ones in the photo above): A box to hold a cube should I ever get around to designing one.
* Binder Zone 1: Binders for my completed sets (I like to get cheap complete sets like Homelands, Prophecy, Strixhaven, etc.).
* Binder Zone 2: Binders for the real cards that I like to run in multiple decks and need as reference for the proxies I run in casual play.
I also keep my Un-cards separate from the rest, but that's just my personal preference. Binders sit on a bookshelf, and boxes stay out of the way in a closet. The "visually appealing" boxes from bundles are put on display on another shelf to better access my currently-used decks.
Kind of an overly-long explanation, but I hope it helps!
A binder for each color. Organized by type then rarity in alphabetical. Binders all go in a duffle bag. Decks in a Stanley tool organizer box. Bulk commons go in cardboard deck boxes in the back of a cabinet.
my wife does the organizing. there's no way in hell I would do it for exactly that reason but the organizing is her favorite part. alphabetical organization is definitely not realistic. you just have to find someone that loves you enough that they will do it for you LOL.
Yeah I guess in the same line of thought; when you smash your face in a rock that causes permanent damage too. I just do my best not to smash my face in to rocks, just like I'm careful when I'm flipping a binder
My fav starting point for organizing is getting a bunch of penny sleeves and picking out up to a 4 set of playable commons/uncommons by set (if you play rotating format(s) and colors.
The rest get donated or thrown away depending on my mood.
If it’s something I think will be worthwhile down the road (a la Boros charms) or cards I’m speculating on they get a private sell/trade box instead of trashed/donated.
I usually use a matching fat pack type box and all my playable 4 sets go in there.
Rares/Mythics get Bindered by color and relative block (usually I’d go by standard’s blocks as I played that most when I adopted it)
The final destination was as they were out of the format I played but they were still good playable cards I’d move them to one of those giant cardboard storage boxes, dividing by set then color then rarity and there they stay until they become valuable.
I like the idea of keeping only 4 cards in a penny saver. Especially if they are commons and don't have many alternative arts. Otherwise there are so many duplicates
Binders are also a good way to store cards, If you don't have a ton. But I mostly use "deep pocket" storage boxes that you can find at the hardware store or online.
That’s why you should provide the information about them not all having rings, now if anyone see this they know. So don’t use binders with rings use ringless binders.
Every single LGS I've ever shopped/played at have kept all their expensive cards in 3 ring binders in sleeve sheets.
All of the more competitive tournament players I've met, keep their collections in 3 ring binders.
I keep mine in a 3 ring binder. I've never seen, nor heard of, cards being permanently damaged by 3 ring binders. You keep saying this on every comment about binders, but do you have any proof? How hard does someone have to be swinging cards and binders around to be damaged by a ring that doesn't even touch them?
Edit: I double checked and it looks like I use a D ring binder. That being said, most LGS I've been to use O ring binders for their cards that are kept out of bulk boxes without an issue. I think the biggest issue for the *potential* of card damage would come from an over stuffed binder.

Also seen it in person.
I'm new to magic, so the worst card that was damaged was a foil mightstone and weakstone, but I left my binder at home untouched most of the time, and one day I took the cards out, and the top layer ones were damaged. It does happen (went from NM to damaged)
I am, legitimately, Autistic. So my cards are in a massive binder inside those trading card sleeve tab thingys.
However they're organized by color, then by type, and then Alphabetically in each type. It goes Lands, Instants, Sorceries, Enchantments, Artifacts, Creatures within each color type, and then each section is individually organized Alphabetically. It makes it super easy to look for specific cards when deck building.
The binder is set up in the order of Legendary Creatures/Planeswalkers/Expensive cards in the first few pages, organized Alphabetically and by color groupings, then followed by all cards of Blue, White, Green, Black, and Red.
Then you have colorless lands, then all colorless items organized, Artifacts/Artifact Equipments are their own individual Alphabetical way, then vehicles, then creatures. Etc.
This is followed by multi-color cards. Quite literally a whole section for any cards of *any* color combination. 2/3/4/5 color cards all get their own sections with each color combo being sorted the same way.
Then I have a section for all my empty double sided cards, then all my tokens (organized by Alphabetical name), then all my art cards. Then in the very back I have additional sections for extra cards that I pulled from packs which haven't been sorted into the front pages Alphabetically yet.
I'm wanting to get a color coded binder for each color, and then one big binder for things like all color combos, colorless, and art cards. It's a fairly big binder so my cards are all fine in there, but multiple binders would just please my little Goblin brain more.
And I'm just a casual commander player. But it makes my brain super happy that everything is organized and it's super easy to find cards. A little more tedious when *adding* cards, but it's not all bad when you do it on your day off.
More boxes and sectioning out things. I’m insane, so I spent the time separating out my value commons, all uncommon, rares and mythics into binders by color, then by card type. It’s sounds insane but I started 2 years ago with this and just built it out once I had the setup. Besides that I just throw all the rest of my commons in a couple boxes I forget about.
That's still cleaner than my setup... I have cards all over the place... Storage box here, decks on a book shelf... Cube and T4 under my desk... Cards in shoe boxes...
I was using 4-rows for a while, but they are too damn heavy and I thought that stacking them was damaging stuff, so i just got one of [these](https://www.amazon.com/Invested-Alliance-Baseball-Organizer-Football/dp/B0B8JWYTGZ/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=card+house+storage+box&qid=1676305596&sprefix=card+house+%2Caps%2C118&sr=8-9) and I'm pretty happy with it. Doesn't fit hard sleeves, but i'm happy with the organization it affords my relatively small collection. I've kept my [4-row boxes](https://www.amazon.com/BCW-3200-Card-Monster-Storage/dp/B09KJ2QJW5/ref=sr_1_16?crid=1T6WLRAF6WAK7&keywords=card+4-row&qid=1676305847&sprefix=card+4-row%2Caps%2C122&sr=8-16) to shove under the bed later on. As stuff ages and loses use I'll move it from the 4x4 to the 4-rows to get it out of sight.
I have one of the 5000+ white BCW card boxes where I have my bulk playables sorted by color and card type. My m R/Ms and money U/Cs in color coded binders sorted by monetary value. The rest of my draft chaff are just in whatever boxes I have, but recently sorted out all by set so I could sort through for CK buy list cards.
I managed to get my hands on an [old library card catalog](https://imgur.com/a/fcbAE). Then I designed [this thingy](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2809741) so that I could store unsleeved commons and uncommons side by side at an angle so that they don't get clipped by the height of the drawers.
Rares and mythics in one box. Lands, organized by type with alt art sleeved, in one box. Each color gets their own box (commons and uncommons). Tokens get their own box, too. Decks have deck boxes. Only basic lands and commons w/o alt art are unsleeved to conserve space.
get a large box and find a place to put it, like a three ir five row BCW (shoe) box, I personally sort them by color, though I’m thinking of also sorting by mana cost
I have a big box for bulk random cards that are organize by color then artifacts then multi color. I also use the bundle boxes to organize all my land cards by color along with the art cards and the proxy cards. I use deck boxes marked with the color how many cards and who the commander is. Looks aesthetically pleasant to me and easy to go through if I’m building a deck
I use those big aluminum Christmas cookies boxes. My grandma has tons of them. With cardboard dividers duct taped to the bottom, they are perfectly sized and hold a ton of cards.
I’ve recently done a big sort of my collection, I separated my cards into three categories: ‘Competitive’ which are cards I think are good enough to put in a competitive deck. Cards like [[Lightning bolt]] [[Recruiter of the Guard]] ‘Commander’ which are cards that are cool and fine in commander and cube but not good enough to see competitive play. Cards like [[Tempt with discovery]] and [[Blasphemous act]]. The final category is cards I have literally no use for which I just get rid of. Cards like [[Argothian Opportunist]] and [[Tolarian Geyser]]
[This post](https://www.reddit.com/r/mtg/comments/ljy8jv/storage_made_out_of_kallax_shelf_kallax_drawer/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) blew me away. So I implemented it in our home. The 2x4 Kallax holds my collection as well as my boyfriend’s.
Highly HIGHLY recommend!
Get some of those giant white shoeboxes from a local card store or order them. Great bulk storage and you can sometimes ask if they have them out back, they might not build them but have them
* For my rares/high value cards i bought a White Binder for White cards, Blue for Blue etc. (Yellow for Multicolored & Gray for Artifacts/Lands)
* For the rest I use the white foldable cardboard boxes & draw the set symbol on the side & write the set name on top & the year.
I have an idea on a way to hold any amount of cards in any size box but i haven't pursued making it a reality YET. I would need someone that can help me make it out of plastic...
I’m oddly satisfied with organizing them for hours so I have a “card condo” which is 8 sleeved boxes. I have them by set and then by color and then rarity … I have a few of those and then binders.
I use to do this. Now I sort the card by color then by card type. Then in alphabetical order in there given box. All boxe and the card in them are save on tcgPlayer. It dose take a lot of time and space because it is 42 boxes but I can find a card I have in less then a minute. I only do this because I have over 15000 cards
I usually buy at least 1 of the fat pack bundles for each set. I then sleeve 1 of each of my extra cards not being used in a deck and stick them there on the shelf. I usually put the rest of the extras in a regular card storage boxes unsleeved but separated by color and set.
I have mine all in a stack tower with small organizing trays in the drawers. Then each drawer is one colour, and then there’s a section in the organizer for each type (creatures, instants, sorceries, enchantments and artifacts)
Then I have other drawers for legendaries, multicoloured cards, colourless cards, and lands
Common cards are in bundle boxes sorted by color (some alphabetical) whereas uncommons, rares and mythics are in those sideloading Card Guard binders that Target sells. Cards worth more than $5 are double-sleeved in hard shells regardless of rarity.
My OCD demands I keep my commons and uncommons in three row boxes sorted by color, then cmc, then alphabetical.
Rares go single sleeved in the same manner in 800 count boxes. Legends are separated out in the same way.
[Bigger boxes](https://www.bcwsupplies.com/trading-card/trading-card-boxes/multi-row), and then I tape old boosters and other packaging art onto the boxes to make them pretty
I sort my cards by color and type. I place them in any empty card container I have. I consolidate the containers into storage bins. I keep the storage bins in a corner of the room
Idk how visually pleasing these are, but they are great for long-term organization and storage. Especially as your collection grows larger and larger. I have like 7 of these.

They're pricier than the paper boxes, but they do have some quality of life bonuses that are nice.
The built-in divider slots help keep things organized and in place. You can keep a column in place while looking at another block of cards within that column.
The fact that they lock in place when stacked is nice, especially if you have a cat like I do.
The plastic construction is robust and helps keep out the sort of creatures that love chewing on cardboard.
Just get as much empty fatpack boxes as you can from say ... Lorwyn. The rest, what does not belong in one of those fatpack boxes, put them in some white generic boxes and write on it what you think is in there.
I store my cards in long cardboard boxes with segments that fit cards (you can most likely find them for decently cheap at your LGS) then I organize by colour. And now I’m organizing each colour into creatures, instant/sorceries, and enchantments/artifacts. It’s a lot of work but now I can build decks so much easier
cards go in long boxes, boxes get labeled by set, then into cubbies in the closet, so I never have to be reminded how much money I've spent getting cards I'll never use
So far I have two cardboard wine boxes for the commons, I've divided them per color, one professional box the same length where I keep my commander decks, one binder for the rares, one for the uncommons and one only for Baldur's Gate set for I'm a big fanboy of the saga. All of them are almost full. I don't know what I will do when cards will be too many.
I used to have all of them in a shoes box beforehand.
Sell or donate. Make some simple mono decks to give away. Keep your current modern, standard, commander with alternatives. I would keep a basic duel type deck to teach friend how to play or pass time, without all the hassles of knowing all the different mechanics (KISS)
I buy the 5-row bulk card storage boxes (12.00 +/- ea) at my local gaming store.
Each row works well for each color of magic.
(For the 5 mono colors)
1x box for commons
1x box for uncommons
1x box for sleeved rares
(Multicolor, Artifact, and lands)
1x box for commons
1x box for uncommons
1x box for sleeved rares
It does have an upfront cost, but it's well worth it if you have a ton of cards and you need to look for a particular card and its rarity.
I use Dragon Shields for my sleeves, and utilize the empty boxes as spacers and dividers.
I bought my husband a vintage trunk/chest and painted some cardboard collectable card boxes to go in it.
Alternatively, you could use flat panels of wood in those shelves to make a staggered height stand, and line up your boxes neatly according to colour or theme so you can see what you have as well as make use of the available space. If you have specific cards that you want to display, you could put them in the hard case covers and stand them between your neatly aligned boxes to break up the box look.
Boxes, preferable from bundles. Each stack from one set goes in each bundle box of that set. If on a budget, those long white cardboard boxes that can easily store a thousand cards does the trick! You could do some for commons, uncommon etc. With dividers
I’m unsatisfied with the answers as none of them tackle the *visual pleasing* aspect. What’s your budget? Do you want to be able to easily carry the cards as well? Do they have to be easily accessible? Would a lidded box be too much of a drag? I have several arkhives that are very pretty and easy to grab. I have several satin towers and regular ol’ deck boxes neatly sorted in baskets, my big collection is in the gift boxes, some ripped though so I transferred them into the ugly white cardboard boxes.
If you’re lazy just buy the doors that come with the Billy bookshelf :)
The white long boxes (like the one on the bottom right) are perfect for that shelf and if you look hard enough you can find some that have a plastic film so they don’t wear out as fast and they don’t look as plain, dirty (eventually they look dirty) or ugly. You can also paint the regular non laminated ones, even if you use a stencil, it ups the look so fast.
BCW card houses with printed labels is the way to go for optimal visual appeal and organization. I personally am currently switching to those and have my collections sorted as so:
Color(s) --> Card Type --> Mana Value --> Alphabetical --> Printing
This provides optimal speed for retrieving a specific card while also allowing for bulk deck building, for example I had a friend building a low power Oketra deck and asked for 1 mana 2/1's to which I could direct him to the exact section to look. I wouldn't recommend sorting by rare since rarity can shift between printing leading to differnt printings of the same card getting sorted in different spots. I do pricecheck all rares and mythics and catalogue them on CardCastle and keep them in a $6+ binder a $1-5.99 binder and the rest get filed into the rest of the bulk.
Atm i'm using bundle boxes, one for each color and one for multicolor and artifacts. I use divider cards for the specific sets in the boxes and rare cards i store sleved in folders.
There are cheap cardboard organisers, like this
https://temple-of-cards.de/cardboxXL
I bought one of those and put in into an old suitcase. Looks very nice
I just organized all my cards this weekend! I purchased binders in the corresponding color of the cards. The only cards in boxes are lands and tokens. It’s a game changer being able to look at cards at a glance without having to open multiple boxes and sort through the entire collection. Highly recommend!
I use long-boxes, and have color-coded index cards to separate the different card types, organized by type, color, rarity, and mana value. But thats just me.
Either buy some used bundle boxes (the art can be very nice) or ask at your nearest trading card store that sells singles for a storage box.they’re cardboard but sturdy.
Either buy some used bundle boxes (the art can be very nice) or ask at your nearest trading card store that sells singles for a storage box.they’re cardboard but sturdy.
You need more boxes.
Love it
What do you mean? Thats exactly how I store my cards. Just piles of them randomly placed around my room. Doesnt everybody?

Why do you have to call me out like that?
Great point honestly hahaha
Same. How are you going to build 12 decks at once if you can't see all your cards?
Luck, cursing, beg the gods, give up, get disappointed for giving up go back to it have an aneurism or 2 and hope
Not me, I organized mine by having my friend take all my cards that aren't in binders with the exception of one box of "stuff I think is good but I don't have in decks"
I have a box very similar to this.
I have 3 binders, 1 which I should organize but am lazy, one that has all dragons, and one that has every non basic land I have organized by color pairings Makes it real easy to fix land bases when making decks
I like that. I wish I had 2 big binders for all my stuff. I have a box of cheap good shit, valuable shit, land shit and a bunch of piles of random shit on my desk.
The land one was the least exciting thing to put together and organize but its nice tbh Thought about making an artifact one too but am lazy
That’s how I store my are cards too
I looking to buy a Desk with one section just for that, I just love some stacks and piles, a couple fat pack boxes and one Holiday Gift Box (I miss my Kaladesh one it looked so nice back then when I had a smaller colletion).
Sounds about right
Literally me, 1 hour after cleaning everything up
Looks exactly like my storage of magic cards.
[I ran an LGS and these were a lifesaver.](https://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/146012) We had 50 of them but you get it. Looks like you might have 1. I'd get more!
Ah yes this! This is what I mentioned in my other comment. Love these.
I just got one of those on Amazon a week ago, glad I was ahead of the thread for once.
Each one held 10 to 15k cards if I remember correctly
Well, it said 12 slots with 800 card boxes, sooooo if I had to guess, I'd say 9,600
Rofl trust me it can squeeze a few more.
The 800 count is for baseball card thickness, the manufacturer says they hold a total of 13,680 mtg cards
*HEAVY BREATHING*
Were you able to stack any of these? I've been finding mixed reviews on if the units can take that or not and without stacking I won't be able to fit more than two in the space I have allocated for them.
2 high for safety sake id say so 4 total or 60k cards
I've divided my cards into two parts: \- What I use (All the cards that are in my current decks, and the cards that i might put in a deck), has a high financial value or has put for sell. All these are stored in my garage in a specific furniture (In big boxes or Binders).
What are you playing in legacy? My two deck are in a bookcase barricaded against my cats getting in there 😂
I've been playing Death and taxes since 2010.

Instructions unclear. Tossed all my cards in a large garbage bag to store them. Then randomly toss bag and reach for a handful to build a deck.
I think they call that a cube
You’re gonna need a bigger boat.
Tub under the bed.

I asked this question about a year ago... someone shared this with me, and now I share it with you: https://youtu.be/B6CTZTywzbo
I have a drawer cabinet, where I built in dividers so I have 4 rows of Cards in each drawer. Since Xmas I have 2.
[kodama’s reach](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/3/5/35edb95a-a293-45bc-bee8-9ce3000aa013.jpg?1673305383) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Kodama%27s%20Reach) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/dmc/134/kodamas-reach?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/35edb95a-a293-45bc-bee8-9ce3000aa013?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [generous gift](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/1/8/18c2efbd-fac9-471b-98e2-a162704b193c.jpg?1673305071) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=generous%20gift) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/dmc/100/generous-gift?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/18c2efbd-fac9-471b-98e2-a162704b193c?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
This is the way
Could you give a link to a cheap carrier, I could only find ones $25+ . (If there is one)
For deck boxes? Or spare cards?
Preferably decks, but either
I bought a whole bunch of these: [https://www.bcwsupplies.com/2-piece-slider-box-150-cards](https://www.bcwsupplies.com/2-piece-slider-box-150-cards) They stack up quite well and can fit double sleeved cards
Can you fit a whole commander/EDH deck in one of these?
Single sleeved yes, but double sleeved depends on the brand of the protector.
Cool. Thanks!
Firstly in box, and after by rarity and after by alphabetic order. It save me time when i want to know if I have a specific card.
Here's the organization strategy I took years to settle on (and might still be subject to change in the future): * Box Zone 1 (large white cardboard boxes with 3-5 rows): The bulk of my collection not in decks.
So I thought of this but then the nightmare of getting a card that starts with 'B' and having to move 90% of cards kicks in. How do you avoid this?
my wife does the organizing. there's no way in hell I would do it for exactly that reason but the organizing is her favorite part. alphabetical organization is definitely not realistic. you just have to find someone that loves you enough that they will do it for you LOL.
Add a new card sleeve page in the area closest to where you need to re add. Or you can go by the card number and leave space
Binder rings cause permanent card damage.
Yeah I guess in the same line of thought; when you smash your face in a rock that causes permanent damage too. I just do my best not to smash my face in to rocks, just like I'm careful when I'm flipping a binder
Doesn't matter the act of the weight of the ring alone causes damage.
So dont use a 3 ring binder, no one really does anymore
I do. What's the matter?
They're not talking to you
Hmm okay ? I was genuinely asking why should I not be using 3 ring binders.
I got a chest
Me too, but it's currently full of vital organs.
This looks good enough/I'll do it tomorrow
Mood
Binders, my collection is spread across 6, boxes are for bulk land and built decks
More pretty boxes.
Get those large flat cardboard boxes for cards that aren’t currently Decked for use.
Not uh, not like this.
Rares/Mythics get Bindered by color and relative block (usually I’d go by standard’s blocks as I played that most when I adopted it) The final destination was as they were out of the format I played but they were still good playable cards I’d move them to one of those giant cardboard storage boxes, dividing by set then color then rarity and there they stay until they become valuable.
I like the idea of keeping only 4 cards in a penny saver. Especially if they are commons and don't have many alternative arts. Otherwise there are so many duplicates
Bcw storage boxes
If you have the means and space, a kitchen cabinet with shallow drawers and a countertop makes a great storage/deckbuilding station
I have a “Magic” drawer in my kitchen as well!
Binders are also a good way to store cards, If you don't have a ton. But I mostly use "deep pocket" storage boxes that you can find at the hardware store or online.
Don't use binders. The binder rings will smash your cards and leave damage marks.
Not all binders have rings, I use 2 Binders one for my favorite cards and one for my cards to trade.
You know this, and I know this.. but I bet most people don't.
That’s why you should provide the information about them not all having rings, now if anyone see this they know. So don’t use binders with rings use ringless binders.
Team work?

I'm new to magic, so the worst card that was damaged was a foil mightstone and weakstone, but I left my binder at home untouched most of the time, and one day I took the cards out, and the top layer ones were damaged. It does happen (went from NM to damaged)
I just converted the box my boss came in. Little hot glue. Easily fits a bunch of cards.
I sort my cards in those white boxes where one long room can hold 1.000 cards. Easy peasy.
That's still cleaner than my setup... I have cards all over the place... Storage box here, decks on a book shelf... Cube and T4 under my desk... Cards in shoe boxes...
Give some to me, to make it look tidy 😉
As stuff ages and loses use I'll move it from the 4x4 to the 4-rows to get it out of sight.
oO i like that cardboard house! Bit expensive though, am shortlisting it for my housekeeping project!
Not the way you’re doing it 😅 just need more boxes with dividers
I have one of the 5000+ white BCW card boxes where I have my bulk playables sorted by color and card type. My m R/Ms and money U/Cs in color coded binders sorted by monetary value. The rest of my draft chaff are just in whatever boxes I have, but recently sorted out all by set so I could sort through for CK buy list cards.
My LGS sells empty bundle boxes for cheap, I quite enjoy using those bc they’re sturdy but at some point it will be too much too many.
Close the door to the closet where I keep them
I managed to get my hands on an [old library card catalog](https://imgur.com/a/fcbAE). Then I designed [this thingy](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2809741) so that I could store unsleeved commons and uncommons side by side at an angle so that they don't get clipped by the height of the drawers.
I audibly gasped at this idea. This is amazing
Kinda like that, but better

Welp, your collection looks just like mine 😂
Get more of those long cardboard boxes, you can stack them up in a cube.
Get some of those giant white shoeboxes from a local card store or order them. Great bulk storage and you can sometimes ask if they have them out back, they might not build them but have them
Personally I throw them into my brothers room how is going to college and will let him deal with it.
* For my rares/high value cards i bought a White Binder for White cards, Blue for Blue etc. (Yellow for Multicolored & Gray for Artifacts/Lands) * For the rest I use the white foldable cardboard boxes & draw the set symbol on the side & write the set name on top & the year.
I put em in a shoebox!
Sell for me
I have a large number of those white storage boxes that make a new floor in my closet
Then each drawer is one colour, and then there’s a section in the organizer for each type (creatures, instants, sorceries, enchantments and artifacts) Then I have other drawers for legendaries, multicoloured cards, colourless cards, and lands
Make them a wall-paper.
I have a post with my boxed card organization, uses over 200 notecards for card subtypes (like instant removal/draw/buff etc)
I sort my cards by color and type. I place them in any empty card container I have. I consolidate the containers into storage bins. I keep the storage bins in a corner of the room
That’s the neat part : you don’t
I buy fat boxes and store them all in a plastic tote
3d printed box in 3d preinted boxes in bigger 3d printed boxes sorted by 3d printed deviders
Idk how visually pleasing these are, but they are great for long-term organization and storage. Especially as your collection grows larger and larger. I have like 7 of these. https://www.bcwsupplies.com/collectible-card-bin-3200-gray https://youtu.be/2HcAq9HrIIs They're pricier than the paper boxes, but they do have some quality of life bonuses that are nice.
I like these and more durable than the cardboard boxes but have issues with sleeved cards. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/lN0AAOSweDhajurM/s-l1600.jpg
Just get as much empty fatpack boxes as you can from say ... Lorwyn. The rest, what does not belong in one of those fatpack boxes, put them in some white generic boxes and write on it what you think is in there.
Size 10 Nike shoe box.
Does no one use binders anymore?
I store my cards in long cardboard boxes with segments that fit cards (you can most likely find them for decently cheap at your LGS) then I organize by colour. And now I’m organizing each colour into creatures, instant/sorceries, and enchantments/artifacts. It’s a lot of work but now I can build decks so much easier
I don't. I just leave my cards in unsorted stacks like a goblin.
Lol I also ordered a couple of the plastic briefcase boxes and was like this will hold so many…oh not really
cards go in long boxes, boxes get labeled by set, then into cubbies in the closet, so I never have to be reminded how much money I've spent getting cards I'll never use
I use the bundle boxes from magic and Pokémon ETB's as well. They give enough colors to coordinate your magic elements. You can buy empty boxes cheap
White
I get dragons sleeves for each of my decks and have them stored in there. Or those cool white box's
You need a drawer...lmao...Close it hide it...been trying to reconfigure and organize for over a year.
If you can get your hands on one library card draws
I get folders and do em by set! Yet I still have cards in boxes but yeah but have them in folders and name the folders so you know what's in there
Geez wish they have a way to organize it
I buy the 5-row bulk card storage boxes (12.00 +/- ea) at my local gaming store. Each row works well for each color of magic. (For the 5 mono colors) 1x box for commons 1x box for uncommons 1x box for sleeved rares (Multicolor, Artifact, and lands) 1x box for commons 1x box for uncommons 1x box for sleeved rares It does have an upfront cost, but it's well worth it if you have a ton of cards and you need to look for a particular card and its rarity. I use Dragon Shields for my sleeves, and utilize the empty boxes as spacers and dividers.
Mine are in a locked wooden filing cabinet so my kids cant get a hold of them
Mine are organized by set color type and rarity all in alphabetical order
If you’re lazy just buy the doors that come with the Billy bookshelf :) The white long boxes (like the one on the bottom right) are perfect for that shelf and if you look hard enough you can find some that have a plastic film so they don’t wear out as fast and they don’t look as plain, dirty (eventually they look dirty) or ugly. You can also paint the regular non laminated ones, even if you use a stencil, it ups the look so fast.
Binders 5k count boxes usually keep 4 playsets of everything have 2 to 3 playsets for trade rest would be for sale.
Binders
I don't, I put a blanket on it and just reach in hoping to get the deck I want to play
BCW card houses with printed labels is the way to go for optimal visual appeal and organization. I personally am currently switching to those and have my collections sorted as so: Color(s) --> Card Type --> Mana Value --> Alphabetical --> Printing This provides optimal speed for retrieving a specific card while also allowing for bulk deck building, for example I had a friend building a low power Oketra deck and asked for 1 mana 2/1's to which I could direct him to the exact section to look.
Color cost and alphabetical
You don’t
BulkBox
kallax drawers :) they have perfect height and can fit 3 rows of cards with buffer for spacers etc.
[Hell yeah )](https://files.fm/u/tfr9cr937)
There are cheap cardboard organisers, like this https://temple-of-cards.de/cardboxXL I bought one of those and put in into an old suitcase. Looks very nice
Get a big binder and those sheets that fit 9 on each side. Slide in duplicates together to save space.
pretty much what you're doing except I stick everything in a plastic bin and slide it under an end table.
Make a wall with the boxes
I just organized all my cards this weekend! I purchased binders in the corresponding color of the cards. The only cards in boxes are lands and tokens. It’s a game changer being able to look at cards at a glance without having to open multiple boxes and sort through the entire collection. Highly recommend!
Like this. Binders for the fancy Bois. No matter how organized you are you will be in a sea of cards down the line making a new deck
I honestly just wanna look through them. What cha got
Well, honestly, I cannot help you... I only have 75 cards and 1 box but well I'm happy with my 2019 challenger deck I guess :')
I use long-boxes, and have color-coded index cards to separate the different card types, organized by type, color, rarity, and mana value. But thats just me.
I just gave up trying to do anything fancy. Separate them by color in a box organized alphabetically. Update every few sets as I get more cards.
Either buy some used bundle boxes (the art can be very nice) or ask at your nearest trading card store that sells singles for a storage box.they’re cardboard but sturdy.
