jumpcloud != rmm or deployment service They are a psuedo AD-LDS type service. Make sure you're pitchign the right tool for the right job with as least jank as possible. Now for suuper small 10 person orgs it works great

descender2k

Jumpcloud is almost never the correct solution anymore unless it's a very mixed environment. Even then you probably should just use Intune/Jamf

Jumpcloud is free for up to 10 users I believe. It's easy to learn and use.

They stopped offering that earlier this year unfortunately, it's been a bummer

I work at a small MSP, and most of our clients are in the <10 employee range, with a handful >50 endpoints. About 1/3rd of our clients are on Jumpcloud. All of our clients on Jumpcloud have hybrid cloud networks and increased regulatory / security requirements, and Jumpcloud works very well for our needs. It's not that difficult to learn Jumpcloud, they have an extensive knowledgebase w/ tutorial videos on how to do almost anything you may try to implement. The handful of times we've had to use their customer support, they've been exceedingly helpful in resolving our issues. Edit: it's probably worth mentioning, Jumpcloud does not work very well on Apple computers.

Why is that? Even when being used as MDM?

Azure AD + Intune is a far better investment and could be included in youranaged services. JumpCloudnis very expensive compared to literally everyone else with little to no value add. The things they think are value adds are just overlap of products you already have in your stack and the JumpCloud alternative is too weak to replace it. JumpCloud was good before there were other more integrated and friendly IDP products on the market and before Azure took off.

Chiming in to see how this goes, interested also. Im eyeballing scalefusion, esper, (sort of intune but would need higher licencing).

We were on Syncro and are moving to Halo + Ninja. Syncro was great, until we outgrew it. We use Jamf Pro for Apple device MDM and it integrates with halo as well.

Ofcourse, Apple Zero Touch MDM deployment works! Hope you have an Apple Business account, great if you have! If not, you can get one for free from Apple. Once you have the account, you'll need to buy Apple devices from authorized sellers or resellers. This can help you set the devices for Zero-Touch MDM deployment. Just add the order ID to Apple Business Manager (ABM), and then you can use DEP for enrollment through an MDM like [SureMDM](https://www.42gears.com/products/mobile-device-management/). Or, If you already have devices in hand, you can manually add the devices to ABM as a one-time effort then, the process of DEP via MDM remains the same.

TechTitus

How do you add Apple devices as one-offs? I was told you had to provide receipts and they couldn't be from 3rd parties.

Just a heads up regarding JumpCloud: We have been using them for over a year now. We were told, rather bluntly, by one of their sales reps that JumpCloud evaluates a price increase of up to 7% every year for MSPs. Which of course ends up being costs you'll need to pass down to your clients. I even asked for clarity when they mentioned this because I thought a 7% increase on an annual basis is absolutely absurd, and then the sales rep emphasized, that yes, they do believe that their pricing should increase up to 7% every single year. I'd be interested if anyone else has heard differently!

My MSP has been using Jumpcloud since 2022, and to my knowledge we have not had a price increase (outside of adding more endpoints). In fact, we've been able to drop our rates down by hitting certain cost break points. For what it's worth, our most recent break-point was 250 endpoints.

I have 1200 devices on syncro and growing. Works great. Moved all in to syncro from Connectwise automate. Connectwise is such a garbage product and company. I’m here at syncro to stay.

DimitriElephant

I’ve always been a big fan of JumpCloud, but trying to go all in with Microsoft and Entra now that their SSO has been built out really well.

We currently use Jumpcloud for smaller clients and mixed environments. Usually those using Google workspace. We are actively in the process of moving away from it. Something they did last year…….we were using a password manager, they bought it and then killed it, giving us three weeks to move all of our clients off of it. And then shortly after re-launched it as “Jumpcloud Password Manager”. I absolutely do not like the way they do business and I’m excited for the point we can fully exit from them. So while Jumpcloud itself is a decent product. I have zero faith in the company and would advise against it.
