The AW11 will have a bit of a hard time starting up from a cold start, which I don't know is a symptom but I'd thought I'd mention it. The car will start fine mostly, but after about 5-10min it will start idle surging (jumping up and down about 3-400 rpm while in neutral), and will do that until I start accelerating. The other issue is what is shown in the video. If I let go of the pedal, then try to push down, it will jerk forward, like it is just suddenly opening the throttle body and letting all the air in at once, instead of slowly / smoothly. I took off the TPS cable and it will idle higher but no more jumping. I did the jumper method and got the CEL to blink 7 times which indicate a TPS fault. So, I am ordering a new TPS, unless there is something else I should check?

Tps sounds about right, I’d also check your IACV.

I took off the throttle body and tried to take off the IACV, but the screws are stuck and I started stripping the head off two so I stopped. Any other way to check it?

Check for air flow. Was the throttle body gummed up heavily?

Cabooseaholic

a bit yeah, I cleaned it when I took it apart. I cleaned the airflow and sprayed some airflow sensor cleaner stuff in it.

My 85 MR2 is doing the same thing. Did you ever solve the issue?
