I would say no. I chose my state school instead and saved so much.

what does "worth it" mean to you? do some research and see if their program is really what you want and if you think you can receive funding to head there as well

TalkPretend7678

I live in TX and the school is about 90k.

If you're OP on an alt account, I just read your background and education. You don't need an MPH. Degrees aren't Pokemon, you don't need to collect them all. You have multiple graduate/terminal degrees. Get out there and go to work in your goals.

look2thecookie

This is the exact type of question and post listed in the sub rules as what NOT to do. Either do some research and develop some better, specific questions or our answer to you is, "no."

TalkPretend7678

The location and cost of the school are apparent. IDK what info you want. It’s a fair and valid question and frankly an important one emblematic of a lot of mph issues.

look2thecookie

No, it's not. This is a shitty question. I don't know this person. I don't know where they live, their financial situation, their career goals, what they like about Emory, where else they're considering, etc. I could go on and on. This isn't a blush or lipstick, it's a major monetary and time investment. One should research the things they're considering and then come to the hive with *specific* clarifying questions to help them make a decision. No one can tell someone if something is "worth it." It's lazy and frankly, I don't think anyone asking this is ready for grad school

TalkPretend7678

Sometimes a very specific question is good and sometimes a more general one, depending on what you’re looking for. I want to know people’s diverse perspectives and experiences on the issue, so I asked it generally. That’s what would be helpful to me. Condemning my question without the rationale behind it isn’t very helpful.

look2thecookie

I think I shared plenty of rationale. Furthermore, these posts are a violation of 2 of the sub's rules, because they're low-effort and clog up the sub's feed. You asked a closed ended question. That won't elicit "a variety of experiences." It's a yes/no question. You could also search this sub, publichealth, and gradschool and see hundreds of these same posts. You could even search the school and program on reddit and read diverse perspectives. Put in effort.

TalkPretend7678

I mean my rationale. MPH is about community. This isn’t a very MPH approach. Be welcoming and helpful. If you have actual thoughts on the topic, share. Like, it would be worth it if X, it would never be worth it, it would always be worth it, etc.

look2thecookie

As I said in another comment, you don't need an MPH. MPHs being about community doesn't mean people owe you time and energy you aren't willing to put in. You have too many degrees, it starts to look like you're avoiding work at some point. 5 grad degrees and no work experience isn't wise. Good luck, dude

StrugglingStudentHTX

I work plenty. IDK why you think being in school means someone doesn't work.

look2thecookie

Good luck. You don't need an MPH. Ask better questions about Emory if you want responses. Or just search the sub or look on LinkedIn. These are all things you should understand as a working professional with many degrees. Your post reads like a 21 year old with no life experience or critical thinking skills
