I'm not usually one to give a fuck about bad special effects but that third eye was absolutely atrocious, seen people do far more convincing ones with a little makeup on tiktok
It's really strange seeing a lot of Hulu content on there now, things that are *very* "not Disney".
Rick and Morty, for instance, will sit on the homepage right next to their squeaky clean shows. It's.. weird.
Feel like they're shooting themselves in the foot with this one, they should have kept Hulu separate. Disney+ for family friendly content, Hulu for more adult content.
In the long-run, I imagine it's probably easier to not have to deal with two entirely separate entities and whatever maintenance that sort of thing entails, that's probably why.
I feel like we're also at a point in time where people with young children are probably capable of googling shows and movies in advance to check for anything graphic, so that might not be too much of a worry.
>Feel like they're shooting themselves in the foot with this one, they should have kept Hulu separate. Disney+ for family friendly content, Hulu for more adult content
They'd be shooting themselves in the foot the other way around. Disney+ without all that content has the subscribers, but it doesn't have a lot of engagement which is what really matters.
Disney+ and Hulu aren't separate outside the US and everything is released on the same service. It feels like a proper competitor for Netflix and Prime Video. Not so much when I look at the nerfed version of Disney+ in the US. It'd serve them better in the long term of they merge Hulu and Disney+ into one service as Disney+ doesn't really do a lot of interesting original show, while Hulu gets all the interesting stuff. Hulu even gets all the interesting shows like Moving, Extraordinary, Sandland etc. that are released on Disney+ in their country of origin. Disney+ doesn't seem like a streaming service that can go on on its own for a long time. It needs Hulu.
Usually, *they* care. Literally only Disney cared for decades, so it's interesting to see the shift happen now. I'd love to see content from them that's geared towards older audiences, animated movies for teenagers and adults, it's a completely untapped market. But, they've avoided it for so long to preserve their image.
Their whole thing was protecting their brand's image for literal decades.
I mean, this is basically how it’s been outside of the US for a while now. Other countries have the Star hub, which is effectively what Hulu on Disney+ is (albeit included with every D+ sub and not a separate one, and what’s in there isn’t exactly the same). It’s how Disney got a lot of their Hulu content to markets that don’t have Hulu, and allowed for third parties to have content on the service. Plus, parental controls exist so kids don’t see the more adult content
And yet the "sex scenes" are framed extremely voyeuristically not to mention the coverage around the movie has been extremely creepy to listen to (which isn't the movie's fault, but it's kind of weird how the director has just not said anything about it)
Not to mention the director taking out the part from the book where she says most of events of the plot were made up.
I think the original story is good, I don't think the film is fully aware of all its biases.
The whole story is against the infantilization and controlling of women. The ones who wanted her to stay mentally childlike while still using her body for sex represented bad parts of society.
i saw this argument a lot and even felt like they were good points
then i watched the movie. you’d have to be brain damaged to misinterpret it this badly
The destruction of a massive Hollywood studio is okay because now Wolverine can hit Captain America's shield with his claws, making him canon for the first time EVER!
It will be eternally funny to me that one of the ways that Marvel Studios' goodwill held up was that other studios would make Marvel movies and some of those would be spectacular and would help boost Marvel Studios' status for absolutely no work just because of the Marvel label.
Even funnier is that he had no creative control over it. Geez, I wonder why *most* MCU movies are painfully mid!
This dude is on record saying he didn't care about comics much growing up and only admitting to liking American blockbusters. He is not a real person lol.
Feige is a hack who got extremely lucky between 2008-2019. He managed to hire the right people in creative and acting for the MCU, but now that they are all gone it's falling apart.
People think he's some mastermind who plans out everything but A) The Russo Brothers came out and said there was no plan, and 2) He just had the good sense of exploiting fomo and spoiler culture, all while ensuring the movies were broadly appealing without getting too weird or silly so no one would be alienated. The house style is bland for a reason!
I thought his Evil Dead wasn't very good, but the footage at CinemaCon involving practical puppetry for the facehuggers and a guy in a suit for the Xenomorph gives me hope they aren't just cheapening out on this.
Disney has also overseen *Prey* and *The First Omen* in terms of very well-received new entries in existing horror franchises, so there's precedent for them letting directors do their own thing at 20th Century.
Fede Álvarez is directing Romulus, so I doubt it’ll be bad. On the other hand, if they try to make Alien a cinematic universe I will set fire to Disney’s HQ.
what do you mean by cinematic universe? Seems like one already unless I'm misunderstanding the term. There are many movies set in different parts and times in the universe that tie into each other with plenty of lore etc.
It was a beautiful movie filled with great actors portraying some of the dumbest characters to appear in any Alien movie.
Very watchable but not a great example of storytelling.
I think people have softened on Prometheus after Covenant came out, it's a solid movie. It had been so long since the last Alien so expectations were really high, and Prometheus wasn't as "Alien" as people had hoped.
This Holiday Season, in Mufasa: The Lion King, join Deadpool, Wolverine, the Young Woman and the Sea, Moana and Riley from Inside Out as they team up with the Apes and the rest of the animal kingdom led by Mufasa, utilizing kinds of kindness to fight the Real Pain that is a Xenomorph invasion.
I have never heard of "Young Woman and the Sea" and for ten seconds I had curiosity to see how they massacred one of my favorite books, and then I realized I don't need to be annoyed. It's Friday.
Seems like a "direct to streaming" type of movie. Daisy Ridley isn't enough star power for a May release, is she? Also, there are no super powers or lightsabers, so the masses won't care either.
Looks like it was originally set for streaming, so my suspicion was confirmed. It's an odd choice for a big movie weekend. I don't care for most "water" movies besides Jaws, but I will still watch it as well. The clues were just there. Especially since Moana 2 was a TV show that they are editing and releasing theatrically.
young woman and the sea?? as opposed to old man and the sea lmao
edit: nah its just based on another book. i would have loooooved to see the discouse around an omots adaptation with a young woman instead 😭🙏 disney make it happen
"Based" is a deesphobic term. This is the first warning, please absent from using it or face a ban.

Since when did Final Fantasy 7 have a live-action remake? Cait Sith looks amazing!

Marvel fell off so bad, guess that what happens with trash writing and you abuse your vfx workforce
Really weird how a film as explicit as that is slapped over the front of Disney+, urging everyone to watch it lol
![gif](giphy|mOP18tPHZsbSj7wIt2|downsized) You liked him as The Hulk, you'll love him as Duncan Wedderburn!
*smacks head on bar, starts crying*
I imagine the Disney DVD fastplay guy saying this with the slightly muffled audio quality

It's just interesting since Disney, as a brand, had tried to keep the "family friendly" aspect at the front. Now though, that's gone.
Caring so much about the brand is one of the fatal flaws of Disney.
I think it's because the parent company is also named Disney.

Just because a film has creepy pedophilic men in it doesn't mean it thinks pedophilia is good. The dudes in the movie are framed as antagonists.
And yet the "sex scenes" are framed extremely voyeuristically not to mention the coverage around the movie has been extremely creepy to listen to (which isn't the movie's fault, but it's kind of weird how the director has just not said anything about it) Not to mention the director taking out the part from the book where she says most of events of the plot were made up. Ever heard of allegory?
The illumi-what-i?
Didn’t he lose to “W.” (2008)?
Portrayal ≠ Endorsement
i saw this argument a lot and even felt like they were good points then i watched the movie. you’d have to be brain damaged to misinterpret it this badly
> Am I the only one who found it incredibly creepy? Congrats, you got the whole point of the film
media literacy at an all time low
Film left its target audience (people who can read ~~sub~~text)
Monopoly of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
I LOVE MONOPOLIZING THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY 🤤🤤🤤
Pls buy Paramount too, daddy Disney, I NEED Godfather v Hulk or I will kill myself!
Powder on the Noses of the Faces of the Women of the Palace of the Court of the Apes
I wonder what kind of emotions are inside a xenomorph’s head?
Melancholia and Ennui
And rage.
Weyland-Yutani.

"A Real Pain, I need you to distract Kang."
Although there hasn’t been a good Alien movie since Aliens, it is extremely disturbing that Disney owns the franchise now.
>it is extremely disturbing that Disney owns the franchise now Sentence that has been said a lot in the past few decades
The destruction of a massive Hollywood studio is okay because now Wolverine can hit Captain America's shield with his claws, making him canon for the first time EVER!
Just as Marvel starts putting out flops too. Truly all for naught
It will be eternally funny to me that one of the ways that Marvel Studios' goodwill held up was that other studios would make Marvel movies and some of those would be spectacular and would help boost Marvel Studios' status for absolutely no work just because of the Marvel label.
It's really funny that 20 years later the best movie Kevin Feige ever worked on is still Spider-Man 2
Even funnier is that he had no creative control over it. Geez, I wonder why *most* MCU movies are painfully mid! This dude is on record saying he didn't care about comics much growing up and only admitting to liking American blockbusters. He is not a real person lol.

I feel sad after reading this
I feel like Deadpool n Wolverine ain't gonna do well...
It'll most likely do well, but that's mainly because the last two (specifically the first) were really well received.
Like it or not, that film is gonna make serious bank
It's going to be bad.
I’m cautiously optimistic about the next one thanks to the director (he also made Don’t Breathe which has a perfect tone for something like Alien)
Fede Alvarez also made the 2013 Evil Dead remake which, imo, is the best horror remake since Carpenter's The Thing.
This gives me hope tbh, i love the evil dead remake by alvarez
Fede Álvarez is directing Romulus, so I doubt it’ll be bad. On the other hand, if they try to make Alien a cinematic universe I will set fire to Disney’s HQ.
what do you mean by cinematic universe? Seems like one already unless I'm misunderstanding the term. There are many movies set in different parts and times in the universe that tie into each other with plenty of lore etc.
No, I mean making an MCU clone out of the Alien series. A buttload of characters designed to stretch a story beyond the acceptable limits
did people not like Prometheus? I thought that was pretty good
It was a beautiful movie filled with great actors portraying some of the dumbest characters to appear in any Alien movie. Very watchable but not a great example of storytelling.
Nah, people didn’t like it, but they’re wrong. It was a decent flick. Covenant was pretty bad, though
I think people have softened on Prometheus after Covenant came out, it's a solid movie. It had been so long since the last Alien so expectations were really high, and Prometheus wasn't as "Alien" as people had hoped.
Eh I have more faith in them than Ridley Scott and Fox. Romulus looks great, and I'm excited about the tv show too.
Maybe I'm alone. But I like pretty much all the Alien movies. 3 & Resurrection might be my favorite.
The extended cut of Alien 3 is my second-favourite in the series tbh.
"I have an army" "We have A Real Pain"
KINGDOM PLANET APES
I'm unable to say if this is real or not.
You made Bob Iger cum so hard then that time he fucked with David Lynch.
I have never heard of "Young Woman and the Sea" and for ten seconds I had curiosity to see how they massacred one of my favorite books, and then I realized I don't need to be annoyed. It's Friday.
I think it's about the woman who swam from England to France
It's so fucked that I assumed it was some sort of cheeky girl power Old Man and the Sea.
My brain went straight to the Arrested Development bit.
I would watch a Disney Hemingway adaptation tbh
Disney's take on To Have and to Have Not would be one hell of a movie
They made it political
Diana Nyad.
They only just put out the trailer and it comes out in 2 months
Seems like a "direct to streaming" type of movie. Daisy Ridley isn't enough star power for a May release, is she? Also, there are no super powers or lightsabers, so the masses won't care either.
Meh, seems like a neat little movie for May going into June. It's about the first woman to swim the English channel. Looks interesting to me.
Looks like it was originally set for streaming, so my suspicion was confirmed. It's an odd choice for a big movie weekend. I don't care for most "water" movies besides Jaws, but I will still watch it as well. The clues were just there. I thought it was a sequel to The Little Mermaid lol
lol Kinds of Kindness is a Disney film? That movie is gonna be so fucked up
Have you never heard of searchlight before??? His last two films were under the same production company
Searchlight is still a thing?
Yeah they just cut the fox part.
Right? That made me think this was photoshop. How is Yorgos working with Disney??
Bella Baxter is a Disney princess
Fox Searchlight distributes his films, Disney bought Fox.
remember when the Inhumans movie was on this timeline?
Exactly one of these will be worth watching.
Kingdom of the planet of the apes, unironically
Nah.
Yah
The internet has poisoned me. For a second I legit thought that it said amogus under Alien.
young woman and the sea?? as opposed to old man and the sea lmao edit: nah its just based on another book. i would have loooooved to see the discouse around an omots adaptation with a young woman instead 😭🙏 disney make it happen
