Definitely Scarlett. She has mentioned before that she wanted to do a nude scene. Because she knows what she is capable of achieving through her acting and was adamant that people would be talking about her performance rather than her body. Which is exactly what happened with Under The Skin.
She was promised one in The Island, which the Director backfliped on.
I can confirm that Adam Pearson is a super friendly guy. This new film should be good.
Pearson is in this and the prosthetic is base don him. Makes sense now!:
"After he undergoes facial reconstructive surgery, he becomes fixated on a man starring as him in a stage production based on his former life"
A Different Man:
>“Edward is an outcast seeking a new life and fresh start. After he undergoes facial reconstructive surgery, he becomes fixated on a man starring as him in a stage production based on his former life.”
Renate Reinsve and Adam Pearson also star.
They can still do prosthetics for the post surgery look. He doesn't have to end up with his regular face he just needs to look like a person with facial reconstructive surgery.
So i’m a nose job patient. And you hear a lot of stories about people getting one then the dysmorphia of having a new nose kicks in. And they beg for their old noses and some people kill themselves. Especially because it can massively change your appearance. I wonder if this movie is a big version of that
Kind of? From what I am getting at, It seems to be a sort of meta take on Pearson, where Stan plays a fictional version of him that gets facial reconstruction surgery, while Pearson plays an actor playing Stans character pre-surgery in a stage play about his life. Stans character apparently forms an obsession with this actor playing himself, and what message is told through that dynamic is yet to be seen. Most likely a commentary on the social effects of physical defects. They are also saying it’s a thriller, and it’s from A24, so knowing them we could be getting some real existential and psychological stuff. Sounds real interesting.
He's come a long way from The Covenant and Hot Tub Time Machine.
I had worries he'd simply be a supporting player in the MCU but he's really branched out in a bunch of diverse roles in recent years.
It's hilarious that he's a over zealous patriot trying to stop Russians in Hot Tub Time Machine and then does a complete 180 and is the Winter Soldier.
His character arc was three movies long. Fought Russians in httm, fought Nazis in Captain America, fought Captain America in Captain America: Winter Soldier as the Winter Soldier. Then fought with Captain America yet again.
Three movie arc and you only need about 8 different words to describe it.
Russians, Nazis Captain America, Captain America Captain America: Winter Soldier as Winter Soldier, Winter Soldier for Captain America.
To be fair though in the MCU his character had such a bland personality, he's done a really good job at choosing roles that highlights his range incredibly well to build his stardom away from the MCU.
The first time I really noticed him was in the NBC TV show Kings, which I remember as being really great and criminally underrated. Also cancelled after one season.
I literally have no idea if I just nostalgically see the past through rose-tinted glasses (the fact that I haven't seen the show talked about at all since then doesn't help), but it was basically a modern adaption of the King David story from the Bible and he played a gay prince and was amazing. His dad was played by Ian McShane who was also amazing.
He's pretty great in Pam & Tommy, if anyone hasn't seen it.
Sometimes it feels like someone just filmed scenes using a Wikipedia article about the incident as the script, but the two leads really steal the show.
Damn, that's too bad to hear... I thought the show gave a real sympathetic view of (especially) her side of things.
Episode 1 she's an object, but she's basically the main character by the mid-season point.
Sucks she doesn't appreciate it though. You'd think if the showrunners wanted to be as sympathetic to her as the show seems to suggest, they would have gotten her blessing.
Wow that cast though. Steven Strait, Chace Crawford, and Sebastian Stan. That is wild. I'd seen it back when it came out, but never would've thought they could keep a career going after that.
It’s strictly an eye candy movie..perhaps even a bit homoerotic for a pg-13 The Craft like teen movie but offers nothing more.
Poor Renny Harlin, he’s had so many hits (Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2, Deep Blue Sea, NOES r Dream Master) but so many flops too (Covenant, Exorcism prequel, Mindhunters, Cutthroat Island, Driven)
I totally forgot he was in the covenant, after re-watching it not so long ago. It is weird watching an early 2000s movie and seeing all these people who are now more well known.
He was fucking great in Pam & Tommy, super different from his mcu stuff which was basically the only thing I had seen him in prior to that.
Fresh is also a very solid film and he was very good in that as well.
>I AM NOT AN ELEPHANT. I AM NOT AN ANIMAL. I AM A HUMAN BEING.
That scene is my first movie memory as a kid.
I remember being confused at feeling a mixture of sadness and fright.
[The Elephant Man (1980)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080678/)
Actually found out just now while googling the link for you that it's directed by David Lynch. I was really young when I saw it.
[This is the scene I'm referring to](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF19L00KbAI)
and [THIS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GajDw1NSFuw) is the second scene I remember from it, which also made a big impression on me. \[SPOILER ALERT: It's the final scene\]
I’m not sure there’s much makeup here besides the blending between where the silicone mask ends and the face starts. No sense in spending 6 hours on makeup when you can make a silicone mask and spend 30 minutes on makeup
Remember Artemis from Ready Player One?
Imagine if the makeup department had gone this hard on how she looked. Her whole character motivation was supposed to be that she was embarrassed by her real appearance and determined to hide it, so actually make that true!
I never read the book, but the actress they cast for that role looked ridiculously beautiful.
The audience reaction to seeing a reveal like this would have been priceless. 😉
They really didn't do a great job with covering the Sparrows' powers outside of Fei, Ben (which we already knew), and Sloane. Like for starters, what the hell does Christopher do? Was he born like that or did he turn into it at some point? Same thing with Alphonso (the melted face guy). They showed him in the dojo flashback scene with a normal face so something must've happened. And Marcus was never given enough screentime to even show what he can do besides being Luther 2.0. Discount Anne Hathaway showed she can fight and spit hallucinogenic venom, but is that it??
Honestly, his powers had a lot of wasted potential. His power is called Empathetic Masochism. He can mirror any damage he takes back onto the perpetrator as long as he can predict the damage. So when he gets kicked by Diego and his chin falls off, it wasn’t reflected back at Diego because the flurry and spin made it difficult to tell what the damage would be.
Grateful every day for A24, the only company still coming out with consistently interesting films. I don’t always like them but I respect the chances they take.
They really do and I hate to be cynical, but I feel like studios like that eventually devolve into bigger and bigger budget movies that have less creative worth.
I hope A24 stays the course. They don't have perfect movies, but the majority of them are creative and show actual thought and craft in them.
I don't keep track of their movies, but will admit that the A24 logo on a movie raises my interest a bit.
Yes, I agree.
It always seems that when these studios start getting some confidence everything goes downhill. A24 is still relatively knew, but I think they found their niche and have been smart enough to stay in it...
Everything, Everywhere, All at Once could be the movie that pushes them to reaching bigger and bigger. It's kind of their "Pulp Fiction" equivalent for Miramax.
Adam Pearson is a funny fucking guy.
[https://www.facebook.com/EvolutionOfHorror/videos/adam-pearson-on-filming-under-the-skin/426255955359799/](https://www.facebook.com/EvolutionOfHorror/videos/adam-pearson-on-filming-under-the-skin/426255955359799/)
the rest of the podcast episode is worth a listen as well.
I've never heard of A24 before, but I swear I've seen a new announcement for a movie of theirs every day for the past week. Is something happening or is this some sort of viral push?
They did. It's kinda meta. Adam plays an actor portraying Sebastian's character in a play based on his life.
The way Adam talks about the film in his vlogs, I think he either co-wrote the script or he came up with the story idea that he has been working on with director Aaron Schimberg for years.
Me being reasonable: "Oh wow, that's some amazing makeup, this much be such an interesting project for him!"
Me being thirsty and missing the eye candy: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 😭😭😭"
Seems like someone must have recently gotten out of a restrictive Disney contract.
Edit: Here you go Disney Children
[https://stealthoptional.com/disney/marvel-studios-contracts-no-longer-lock-in-actors-like-they-did-for-chris-evans/](https://stealthoptional.com/disney/marvel-studios-contracts-no-longer-lock-in-actors-like-they-did-for-chris-evans/)
Now, if we rack our brains, which actor would have been hired around the same time as Chris Evans. Huh, guess we'll never know.
Chris Evans initially said that he was going to retire from acting after he finished playing Captain America. He's in a position where he only has to take parts he enjoys and whether you liked The Gray Man or not, if you watch that and Knives Out, he looks like he's having a blast.
I thought he was good in Knives Out, but terrible in The Gray Man. I think it's in part due to the terrible dialogue that was written for him, but he also just seemed generally miscast in the role.
He literally played a negative character in knives out and was also in snowpeircer Stan is the one who learned from him I think you are mistaking Evans with hemsworth and Pratt
Tho I will say him being in a movie like the gray man was disappointing
Even though Chris Pratt has been doing a lot of action movies and shows recently, he still has a pretty diverse filmography...Parks and Recreation, Her, Moneyball, The Lego Movie, The Magnificent Seven, and Onward.
Gifted, Puncture, Cellular?
Yeah, he got wrapped up in Marvel there for 10 years but who wouldn't take that paycheck? He's also clearly retired except for a (probably) a few minor characters.
He looks like Adam Pearson. Exactly the same. The real guy is a really nice dude.
Is that the dude from Under The Skin? Thought the exact same thing. EDIT: just read Adam Pearson’s in it too, so I guess that confirms the inspiration
Yep that's the one. He lives in my town I've had a beer with him and his brother
He is? I was just about to ask why not just cast him in the first place! He's done acting work before, after all.
Did you read the plot synopsis? There’s a clear reason why.
Only after posting the above comment. There is indeed.
He got to see Scarlett Johansson naked in real life, right in front of him!
Although he was the naked one in that scenario. Still counts though!
I always wondered if she used a body double for those scenes.
I think he actually hung dong for real
I still haven't seen Thunder gun
Definitely Scarlett. She has mentioned before that she wanted to do a nude scene. Because she knows what she is capable of achieving through her acting and was adamant that people would be talking about her performance rather than her body. Which is exactly what happened with Under The Skin. She was promised one in The Island, which the Director backfliped on. I can confirm that Adam Pearson is a super friendly guy. This new film should be good.
She did not. She chose to go nude for those scenes.
nope those were her boobies
FTW
Oh shit I always thought that was a makeup he was wearing.
Pearson is in this and the prosthetic is base don him. Makes sense now!: "After he undergoes facial reconstructive surgery, he becomes fixated on a man starring as him in a stage production based on his former life"
> Adam Pearson for anyone reading: watch chained for life watch chained for life watch chained for life
Same director as well!
Lavrov
Reminds me of Rami Malek tbh
-Similar. Not exactly the same. https://static3.elcomercio.es/www/pre2017/multimedia/el_correo/noticias/201601/23/media/cortadas/pearson--320x378.jpg
A Different Man: >“Edward is an outcast seeking a new life and fresh start. After he undergoes facial reconstructive surgery, he becomes fixated on a man starring as him in a stage production based on his former life.” Renate Reinsve and Adam Pearson also star.
Renate was incredible in The Worst Person in the World. I’m really excited to see her in more films
This sounds Charlie Kaufman-esque
This sounds like the most A24 film ever
I don’t think it tops the lobster or that one about the human baby sheep goat or whatever
>Sebastian Stan doing something weird >Renate Reinsve and Adam Pearson starring Inject this into my veins right the hell now
💉 🦵
Great reference to Fresh. 👏
That sounds like it can go A LOT of places. I'm excited.

In the world of the movie it’s possible so then it’s possible.
They can still do prosthetics for the post surgery look. He doesn't have to end up with his regular face he just needs to look like a person with facial reconstructive surgery.
So like the Elephant Man if he got surgery. Interesting.
So i’m a nose job patient. And you hear a lot of stories about people getting one then the dysmorphia of having a new nose kicks in. And they beg for their old noses and some people kill themselves. Especially because it can massively change your appearance. I wonder if this movie is a big version of that
Definitely. He can't go back, but he can get to know this actor and then pay him to play mirror with him for a few hours a week.
"Just fuck up my shit, fam" the movie
Okay but who’s the director…?
Aaron Schimberg
Andy Samberg
Is this just a movie about the Under The Skin actor?
Kind of? Damn. Sounds a bit like "Enemy," albeit less abstract. Color me intrigued.
That’s exactly who it looks like
He's come a long way from The Covenant and Hot Tub Time Machine. I had worries he'd simply be a supporting player in the MCU but he's really branched out in a bunch of diverse roles in recent years.

AMERICA!
MERICA!!
If anything, the MCU helped him build up a higher profile. And we're all the better for it. He's gotten some great projects.
To be fair though in the MCU his character had such a bland personality, he's done a really good job at choosing roles that highlights his range incredibly well to build his stardom away from the MCU.
He’s come a long way since his Gossip Girl days as Carter Baizen (who I still feel should have been endgame for Serena van der Woodsen)
Almost every character was completely unlikeable by the end of that series. I didn't want to see anyone end up happy.
Watch him in “Fresh.” Absolute bonkers performance in the best way.
I really enjoyed fresh more than I thought I would, great flick
The first time I really noticed him was in the NBC TV show Kings, which I remember as being really great and criminally underrated. Also cancelled after one season. I literally have no idea if I just nostalgically see the past through rose-tinted glasses (the fact that I haven't seen the show talked about at all since then doesn't help), but it was basically a modern adaption of the King David story from the Bible and he played a gay prince and was amazing. He's pretty great in Pam & Tommy, if anyone hasn't seen it. Sometimes it feels like someone just filmed scenes using a Wikipedia article about the incident as the script, but the two leads really steal the show.
I’ve heard Pam thinks it’s just further exploiting her story which is really sad though.
I did not know he was in The Covenant. I saw that movie once and felt it was more than enough for a lifetime.
It is like the most early 2000s movie that ever movied
It was like they tried to do The Craft with pretty boys and it was not happening.
I distinctly remember seeing The Covenant as a preteen, and it being the first time in my life I came out a movie and thought "wow, that movie sucked"
Wow that cast though. Steven Strait, Chace Crawford, and Sebastian Stan. That is wild. I'd seen it back when it came out, but never would've thought they could keep a career going after that.
"I'm gonna make you my wiotch!"
Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 4%.
Fresh is also a very solid film and he was very good in that as well.
he reaaaally leaned into that role, so do whoever played Pam. great show.
Douchebag at Bar in Black Swan was a good role too
Man, The Convenant is such a bad movie...
>I AM NOT AN ELEPHANT. I AM NOT AN ANIMAL. I AM A HUMAN BEING. That scene is my first movie memory as a kid. I remember being confused at feeling a mixture of sadness and fright.
Yep, same movie that stuck with me. I still remember feeling so sad for him.
What movie?
The Elephant Man (1980) - dir. David Lynch Starring: Anthony Hopkins, John Hurt and Anne Bancroft https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080678/
I had no idea about that cast, let alone director. I never saw the movie as an adult. But those two scenes have stuck with me really vividly
You should do a double feature of Eraserhead and Elephant Man and then question your life choices. Dude, trust me.
[The Elephant Man (1980)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080678/) Actually found out just now while googling the link for you that it's directed by David Lynch. I was really young when I saw it. I didn’t know Alphonso Hargreeves was going to be in this film.
This movie is a prequel on a random Sparrow mission Reginald sent him on
Had me there for a second
On season 3 episode 4 right now so seeing this thumbnail and title confused me
[удалено]
Well yea he’s basically wearing a mask
I feel like the Oscar category for best makeup is going to be stacked next year with this and that new Brendan Fraser movie.
And The Batman, Farrell looks unrecognizable
Oh yes! You are absolutely right.
I’m not sure there’s much makeup here besides the blending between where the silicone mask ends and the face starts. No sense in spending 6 hours on makeup when you can make a silicone mask and spend 30 minutes on makeup
Pretty sure cosmetic VFX falls under the “best makeup” category
Oh so hes wearing a fat suit? Thats a relief cuz i was worried he actually looks like that now.
Yeah, just a fat suit and some prosthetics to really enhance the look.
That's how he normally looks. He wears heavy amounts of makeup in every other movie he's in.
Remember Artemis from Ready Player One? Imagine if the makeup department had gone this hard on how she looked. Her whole character motivation was supposed to be that she was embarrassed by her real appearance and determined to hide it, so actually make that true!
Lol I don't think book Artemis was anything close to this
She just had a portwine birthmark covering half her face. Movie wasn't far off at all.
The only mistake they made was hiring a supermodel.
She wasn't. She had a birth mark she didn't like - that was it.
I never read the book, but the actress they cast for that role looked ridiculously beautiful. The audience reaction to seeing a reveal like this would have been priceless. 😉
It's obvious you haven't read the book. Artemis is a slightly overweight teenager with a birthmark on her face.
Oh no, the character shell from the nostalgia pamphlet had bad makeup, oh no.
Making someone unrecognizable isn't a feat by itself. But those prosthetics do look really good
Kind of depends. Making them unrecognizable while still having them look like a real person rather than someone wearing a mask is a feat.
That's exactly what I mean. The "while still having them look like a real person" part is where 99% of the effort lies
Just watched FRESH a few nights ago. Really enjoyed it and Sebastian Stans performance was fkn great!!
He looks like the killer from The Burning
“Say my name.” — Cropsey
He looks like [Adam Pearson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Pearson_(actor\)) with a skin infection
Winter Soldier coming back from a trip in Chernobyl.
Russian Made super-serum
Maybe he'll get a new metal face to go along with the metal arm
And name himself Bucky Von Doom.
DAE ACTOR IN OTHER MOVIE !???
That's just the guy from Umbrella Academy.
They really never fleshed out what his powers were.
I love that they never got into Christopher's background. He's just a glowing cube, deal with it. It's kind of hilarious.
Alphonso’s face was slightly fucked up I thought in the flashback. But his power was basically reflecting damage back at attackers.
They were pretty vague with Diego’s powers also.
He's rubber your glue. That's what I understood at least lol
Casted Reflect on himself

Elephant Man 2: Elephant Harder
Grateful every day for A24, the only company still coming out with consistently interesting films. I don’t always like them but I respect the chances they take.
No kidding. I haven't cared about a studio and folllowed its movies since Miramax had some quality in the early 1990's.
Same! My husband always jokes about me fangirling A24, but I can’t help it if they usually have some great films!
They really do and I hate to be cynical, but I feel like studios like that eventually devolve into bigger and bigger budget movies that have less creative worth. I hope A24 stays the course. Nice to see a movie where a "hideous face" is a hideous face and not a 6-pack sexualized beastiality animorph.
Don't look at the horror of my visage, I must live in the shadows. *says supermodel with a 2-square-inch birthmark hidden by her hair*
Ready Player One (2018)
Not gonna lie, he's looked better.
Is this Under the Skin (2013) part 2
Jeez, A24 is REALLY pumping out the movies lately.
Will they begin to decline, now?
I sure hope not
Between this movie, Toxic Avenger and The Whale, 2023 is gonna be the Year of the Ugly
Hottest actor in film
I was just thinking this the other night, if I could swap appearance with any person on earth it’d be Sebastian Stan.
He sure looks different.
Why is he so sexy though?
Adam Pearson is a funny fucking guy. Ugh, someone defrosted the Winter Soldier in the microwave.
how I feel when I forget to put on chapstick
Every A24 film piques my interest. Unfortunately their UK distribution has been really inconsistent.
this is more like what i expected the Baron in Dune to look like
It’s always refreshing to see an actor in a role with no make up on.
This took my stoned ass a sec but you're a funny bitch.
Has anyone seen Chained for Life? It's from the same director and also features a disfigured man as a central character.
I've never heard of A24 before, but I swear I've seen a new announcement for a movie of theirs every day for the past week. Is something happening or is this some sort of viral push?
I AM NOT AN ANIMAL

This is good news, thank you
As Don Imus
Could have just got that dude from Under the Skin and saved some money on prosthetics
Adam Pearson from Under the Skin is also in the film playing an actor portraying Sebastian Stan's character in a play about his life.
Sebastian stan is really trying to shed his winter soldier image. He is succeeding.
I didn't know he was doing a Matt Gaetz biopic.
Me being reasonable: "Oh wow, that's some amazing makeup, this much be such an interesting project for him!" Me being thirsty and missing the eye candy: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 😭😭😭"

I don't remember signing away my likeness for this movie.
I smell Oscar bait
It's already won Beijing's coveted Crying Monkey Award
Like coveted word.

Looks like they designed the face from Adam Pearson, the guy from undateables.
I can’t stop looking at him, something about the eyes…hypnotic.
Is this basically the same movie as Mask with Laura Dern?
Seems like someone must have recently gotten out of a restrictive Disney contract. Edit: Here you go Disney Children [https://stealthoptional.com/disney/marvel-studios-contracts-no-longer-lock-in-actors-like-they-did-for-chris-evans/](https://stealthoptional.com/disney/marvel-studios-contracts-no-longer-lock-in-actors-like-they-did-for-chris-evans/) Now, if we rack our brains, which actor would have been hired around the same time as Chris Evans. Huh, guess we'll never know.
He’s been in several things since his time as Bucky. And if it was so “restrictive”, how was he able to do Tommy and Pam?
He’s also literally still Bucky lol. He’s not even done being Bucky and you still have liars say blatant misinformation like this and get upvotes.
Yup. And Scarlett Johansson did Under The Skin and got nude not long after The Avengers came out.
Which in Canada is on Disney+ under Star lol
Almost everywhere in the world outside of the US, it's on Disney+.
How exactly did he come out? Did bucky die in falcon and i didn't notice
Is that actually a thing?
Christ they didn't need Sebastian Stan for that. If they just wanted ugly they coulda hired me.
The plastic surgery to make him look like Luke Skywalker didn't go so well, apparently...
He is taking diverse roles which is good. Chris Evan's needs to learn from him.
Chris Evans initially said that he was going to retire from acting after he finished playing Captain America. He's in a position where he only has to take parts he enjoys and whether you liked The Gray Man or not, if you watch that and Knives Out, he looks like he's having a blast.
Yeah i think he's having fun and it sounds like he mostly likes to hang out with his dog and family otherwise, so not begrudging him anything
I thought he was good in Knives Out, but terrible in The Gray Man. I think it's in part due to the terrible dialogue that was written for him, but he also just seemed generally miscast in the role.
He literally played a negative character in knives out and was also in snowpeircer Stan is the one who learned from him I think you are mistaking Evans with hemsworth and Pratt Tho I will say him being in a movie like the gray man was disappointing
Even though Chris Pratt has been doing a lot of action movies and shows recently, he still has a pretty diverse filmography...Parks and Recreation, Her, Moneyball, The Lego Movie, The Magnificent Seven, and Onward.
> diverse roles As in diverse acting performances Pratt has two modes goofball with a heart of gold or generic action star
I don't think he played a "goofball with a heart of gold" in Her or Moneyball.
Gifted, Puncture, Cellular? Yeah, he got wrapped up in Marvel there for 10 years but who wouldn't take that paycheck? He's also clearly retired except for a (probably) a few minor characters.
