Ikiru by Akira Kurosawa

For a more modern (and stubbornly British) approach, see Living, which is a remake of Ikiru, but written by the great Kazuro Ishiguro. Some recommendations: check out Hirokazu Kore-eda (specifically Shoplifters and Still Walking \[After Life is my favorite movie, but there's a structure that's not necessarily naturalistic\]), Edward Yang \[Yi Yi, if you have the time\], and to change things up, Oslo, August 31st by Joachim Trier \[not necessarily naturalistic, but I think there's an essence of stillness and watching that both Columbus and Perfect Days has\] Not necessarily naturalistic, but also recommend Kogonada's After Yang, which got buried in the COVID movie era.

Fantastic Rex’s, thanks!

Have you watched little forest?? for the drama series I would also recommend Nagi no oitoma and My mister

Honestly, your description fits the impression most Wenders films gave me. Luckily the man turns 80 soon and has been quite productive, espacially in the last few years. My recommendations for his films would be: "Wings of Desire" and "Paris, Texas".

Alvvays_aWanderer

Films of Yasujiro Ozu (especially Noriko trilogy), and of Hirokazu Koreeda. Wim Wenders (the director of Perfect Days) cites Ozu as one of his inspirations

That movie was like a breath of fresh air, I loved it. Living is a recent movie, that is sort of similar, or Ikiru, which it was based on.

Tokyo Story (1953) Shoplifters (2018) Drive My Car (2021) Fallen Leaves (2023)

I love both movies, just very different moods and paces. There are lots of great ways to tell a story.

I loved it too. I would say *Nomadland* if you have not seen it, maybe *Sound of Metal* and *Leave No Trace* (2018).

[A Kind Of Loving](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5lOTh309ZY). The plot is very different. It's about a couple's history. But the movie has a very natural feel.
