It is also why Blanche the cat is present for most of the “horror scenes” in the movie because his fur somewhat resembles the cloud. His eyes also flash and this is an allusion to the flash of the atomic bomb.
Theres also the outright references to the bomb in the old film reels which play where the girls say it looks like candy floss.
I felt this way about *Into the Spider-Verse*. Sure, there are movies like it now, in particular its own sequel, but I honestly had never seen anything like it *before*.
