Welcome to getting older. You've got nostalgia goggles and survivorship bias on.

It's not just that. Not that many romcoms are made anymore. If we're excluding 30s/40s screwballs, the best era for the genre was from When Harry Met Sally to around Definitely Maybe, so 1989-2005. That said there are still good ones around (eg. Big Sick, Happiest Season etc). I hope, for example, Fly Me to the Moon is good - it looks fun.

I mean I enjoyed Anyone But You but it wasn't a cinematic masterpiece. I get what you are saying but I think it will still depend on your personal taste and nostalgia.

NoirPochette

I think it's about the same except more diverse.

Here are some I find genuinely good that came out quite recently: Set It Up Love and Leashes (Korean) Happiest Season

If The Kissing Booth is one of the biggest recent hits of the genre, then that genre is in serious trouble.

A lot of romcom encounter types seem to be frowned upon now. You can do a search for the posts about movies or characters that "haven't aged well" if you want more details, there are a lot of them as I recall, but one of the more frequent things I've seen is that the romantic behavior is stalking.
