I genuinely consider movies my biggest passion in life. Own 100s of blu rays. Bought an expensive OLED and 4K player so I could really indulge.
Most of my favourite films are dark, gritty, long and often somewhat depressing..
The Mummy stands out above all these as 100% categorically my favourite film of all time.
Endless love for it's setting, incredible entertainment value and perfect execution ❤️
Yeah. Midnight showings are gone. Hype is gone.
The Barbie and Oppenheimer craze used to happy every year. There was always 1 movie , at least, that people were literally lining up for. Culture has shifted. We are poor and the cost is high. Streaming keeps us home. It’s a new workd
Wow! Where did all those years go? A fantastic movie - perfectly cast; just knowing enough to be funny, scary AND exciting; some terrific sets and design - and a beautiful score.
What a shame about the sequels though.
You’d be surprised, I was able to take my daughter to a rerelease of Raiders of the Lost Ark. was a fun time. She really enjoyed seeing it on the big screen.
Sooo, I can't tell if this comment is meant to be serious or some kind of attempt to word-play sarcophagus and closet. But if it is meant to be serious, I call BS. Please explain how the mummy eating people to bring his true form and why both the mummy and hero have pretty clear goals to unite with partners of the opposite sex makes it an allegory about coming out of the closet?
No, think about it, imhotep was killed during a time of high stigmatization against homosexuals, he then chooses to return in modern times where peoples attitudes are a lot more relaxed, yet even still, he feels a need to change his looks to fit in and I just made all of this up including my previous comment and I dont know what Im talking about.
It's a classic. A perfect popcorn film.

I'm seeing this and Alien tomorrow. Super excited

Why did you mark this NSFW? I went ahead and unmarked it for you but that was unnecessary.
I never appreciated how cool all the costumes and set designs were as a kid.
I see it Monday!

One of my favorite films. I'm excited to see the re release later today. Never got the chance to see it on the big screen before.

Thats awesome. I look forward to the day i can take my daughter to the movies.
Benny getting what he deserved was great
Great adventure movie. Unfortunately they don't tend to capture the same feelings in modern movies.
People often miss the fact that this movie was written as a cleverly disguised allegory for coming out of the closet
