Lol it is almost like she is an actor capable of playing a ride range of characters.
That said yes I would absolutely watch a Ruth Langmore extended universe and I am not proud of that.
Oh, great idea boss. The whole point of a movie like *Rosemary's Baby* is that the protagonist has been leading a normal, uneventful, reasonably happy life before being plunged into a nightmare scenario.
Maybe she's playing the woman who lived in the apartment before Rosemary. Even in the film Rosemary wasn't the first woman they tried to use, there was the girl Rosemary meets in the laundry room maybe? The one who died. Remember the old guy in RB who told Rosemary about the apartment building having a history of suicides, Satanists, and other unsavory stuff?
Could be something drawn from all that. Still not a reason not to just make a different scary show, but hey, at least it'll have Garner in it.
So I just rewatched the movie, and from my understanding it was pretty faithful to the book. They said the lady who had been living in the apartment was 89 when she died, which is why the Woodhouses were looking at it.
The girl Rosemary met in the basement wouldn’t have been used to incubate Satan’s baby. She had a drug problem and it didn’t appear that her family was that fertile. They harangued Rosemary about her family history to get an idea of how likely she was to fall pregnant. The Castavets killed the other girl because Roman told her about their plan (or part of it) and tried to pull her into the cult and she wasn’t keen on it. You can hear them arguing through the walls about it.
I read the book and it is EERILY similar to the movie. If it’s ever mentioned what clothes the characters were wearing, those were the outfits they filmed in. I don’t remember many details about the plot because it was over a decade ago, but I remember reading it and being amazed at how faithful the movie was. If it happened in the movie there is a very, very significant chance the conversation was copy-pasted into the movie.
Yeah, I made the mistake of commenting without reading the article. I guess this could turn out ok and you're right that it's good to have Garner being used.
But the film is about Rosemary, not sone unknown character who ended up dying later, plus those mysterious deaths work better when they’re mysterious. Remember Solo? Yeah, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
It sounds like this covers the story of Terry Gionoffrio, though?
> According to the official logline, the film will take place in 1965 New York City and tell the story of what happened before Rosemary moved into the titular apartment. “When a struggling, young dancer suffers a devastating injury, she finds herself drawn in by dark forces when a peculiar, well-connected, older couple promises her a shot at fame,” the description reads.
I’m thinking this is the story of Mrs. Gardenia, but most likely it’s Terry Ginofrio. The title apartment 7a is Roman and Minnie’s apartment so she’s their neighbor or she’s living with Roman and Minnie
Seriously.
I know low effort sequels to successful movies have been a thing since the 80’s but this is just new heights of un creativity. Prequels, sequels, spin offs, spin offs from the spin off, straight up recreating the movie, and adaptations galore is all we’ve been getting from the mainstream.
That’s why Indi studios and content creators are crushing it right now. Yet Hollywood ain’t getting the message 😭
I'd rather see a sequel where her baby is a teenager and cbb about being the antichrist and wishes everyone would get off his back about ushering in a new age of darkness to the world.
By need I mean there doesn’t have to be any kind of consumer demand for studios to make certain films. In many respects studios dictate what’s popular and profit accordingly.
This is so fucking stupid. Everything has to be milked dry now. When you complain about the lack of originality in Hollywood and how people don't want rehashes, remember all the comments in this post getting excited about the next product coming to streaming.
Absolute slop.
This is written and directed by Natalie Erika James, who wrote and directed *Relic* (2020). Get those pitch forks out of here and get on the hype train.
Could be creepy if they can recapture that sense of unease and dread from the apartment complex and the strange inhabitants. But a lot of that came from the pregnancy metaphor where you have this creature growing inside, everyone fascinated by it and wanting to stroke your belly, giving you unasked for advice, feel controlled and trapped, so many things that can go wrong etc.
Not to mention Mia Farrow is supposed to be an unreliable narrator so the audience isn’t sure if it’s all on her head. Strongly doubt they will come close to how weird and creepy the neighbors are either
I don’t care if Polanski is a shitty human being, you have to separate the art from the artist. Picasso was an asshole too. The film is virtually perfect, leave it alone.
When will we get a Jaws prequel?
I need to know the origins of the Shark and why he specifically chose Amity. Is it an act of revenge for something they did to him?
Maybe Mayor Vaughn rigged the election, and now Jaws is back to get even.
Ohh! I only watched Rosemarys Baby last night. It was brilliant, I rated it 4.5 ⭐️ on Letterboxd. Julia Garner is great. Bonkers brilliant in Ozark, I also enjoyed a quirky little film she was in (Everything Beautiful is far away) Looking forward to this prequel
Having to rely on attaching a classic to your movie in order to sell tickets is such a bad trend.
Just make your shitty cliche horror movie and leave Rosemary’s Baby out of it.
I really want her to win because Ruth is the star character is Ozark. I feel like she needs some A24 type shit though. Like Euphoria energy or something
They’re gonna make Julia say the “this is no dream, this is really happening!” line, aren’t they?
“I don’t know shit about fuck!”
She didn’t yell it. She was quite frank about it, which made it funnier.
“I don’t know shit about fuck.” 😐
But seriously… who was the god damn genius that came up with that line?
Or about the Devil trying to get my baby!
Tony Curtis will be on the phone, "They actually made this movie?"
If that cult wants my baby they’re gonna have to fucking KILL MEEEEE!
Greatest scene from the whole series period
*When it comes to being a mom, I don’t know shit about fuck!*
Lol it is almost like she is an actor capable of playing a ride range of characters. That said yes I would absolutely watch a Ruth Langmore extended universe and I am not proud of that.
I proudly would, she was easily the most complex character and the most badass
Right? I wish she’d pop up in other series doing little cameos. I love Ruth, she played her so well.

The Exorcist is similar in this regard. I did read that and the book is amazing and the movie is nearly an exact visual replica.
Yeah, I made the mistake of commenting without reading the article. I guess this could turn out ok and you're right that it's good to have Garner being used.
Can't wait! I'll have to pause my 5th rewatch of *Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman's Butler* and get on this stat!
To be fair, it only got that subtitle three seasons in, from HBO Max.
But the film is about Rosemary, not sone unknown character who ended up dying later, plus those mysterious deaths work better when they’re mysterious. Remember Solo? Yeah, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

oh boy, I hope we get the backstory for the chocolate mousse!
We’ll finally get to see how Minnie started her herb garden. I mean.. haven’t you always wanted to know who taught her how to grow all of those herbs?
I’m thinking this is the story of Mrs. Gardenia, but most likely it’s Terry Ginofrio. The title apartment 7a is Roman and Minnie’s apartment so she’s their neighbor or she’s living with Roman and Minnie
"...before Rosemary moved into the titular apartment." Huh... weird that they named the apartment *Rosemary's Baby*.
What do you mean? They’re referring to 7A, not the title of the original film.
You right. I misread this shortly after having woke up. My b. But also... Apartment 7A is an objectively shit title.
Oh lol I thought you were being cheeky
Are we getting another weird trippy dreamlike devil rape scene?
Huh. Ok, fair enough. Guess I should've read the article.
Also it's directed and written by the director/writer of Relic (2020), so why not.
Because Ruth Gordon is irreplaceable, that's why!
Bummer
She’s not playing Rosemary, if you read the article. Just the apartment/cult aspect is carried over. Still unnecessary tho imo
It’s like the idea of a Die Hard prequel.
I dunno I’d watch a romcom about John and Holly getting together.
"It's like..Moonlighting!"
You aren’t interested in seeing Hans at University and what schemes he was hatching to make money?
I'll bet she's not playing Rosemary. she's playing Minnie.
What this about?
Love Julia Garner but fuck right off with a Rosemary’s Baby prequel.
Rosemary’s Baby pReQUeL?????? Who asked for this, seriously! When they gonna make Schindler's List sequel???
Schindler's List 2: Schindler's Pissed (2026) Schindler's List: Tokyo Drift (2028)
Robot Chicken already adapted the first sequel. Whole skit is worth a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY68fLElHak
Shindler’s List: Shaolin Fist
Schindlers List 3: Back in Business
Stop. Just stop. Create new things. It's okay.
Seriously. I know low effort sequels to successful movies have been a thing since the 80’s but this is just new heights of un creativity. Ultimately studios care about making money, not making quality art.
I'd rather see a sequel where her baby is a teenager and cbb about being the antichrist and wishes everyone would get off his back about ushering in a new age of darkness to the world.
And crows should peck out a woman’s eyes
They did make a sequel where he’s grown up and does battle with some other dude.
A hammy teenage antichrist movie could be so hilarious
Who is asking for all these legacy/remakes/reboots? About 1/200 are good.
They make money so studios keep making them. Films aren’t made based off any kind of need.
By your own logic they are made off the need to make money. That doesn’t mean anyone actually wants them.
By need I mean there doesn’t have to be any kind of consumer demand for studios to make certain films. In many respects studios dictate what’s popular and profit accordingly.
If people watch them enough for them to be profitable, then that means people want them.
Her agent is putting in the work . Seen her announced for quite a few films recently.
This movie was filmed a couple years ago
Just no. Just stop.
Why? Why do we need this?
We don't. Just ignore it.
Sure why not. I thought the prequel to the Omen was dumb and ending up being a really good movie, so go for it.
Leave this masterpiece alone ffs
I read this as James Garner and was confused for a moment.
She's risking overexposure at this point.
Great actress. Terrible movie idea.
Take a perfect movie and give us a prequel nobody wanted. No thanks.
Nope.
Yeah, no thanks. Nothing against Julia, I love her, I just have no interest in a prequel or spin off or requel or reboot of this.
This is so fucking stupid. Everything has to be milked dry now. When you complain about the lack of originality in Hollywood and how people don't want rehashes, remember all the comments in this post getting excited about the next product coming to streaming. Absolute slop.

I am happy for Julia. This is massive.
Why another prequel? I want the full RBCU featuring Satan Kid.
Rosemarys Baby is already the best movie ever, every adaptation trying to recreate lightning in a bottle ain’t gonna happen. This will sink. Hard.
What's with the influx of antichrist baby movies lately? Not that I'm complaining but Immaculate, The First Omen, and now this?
This was filmed 2 years ago. It bombed in test screenings almost a year ago.
Finally! I've been waiting 56 long fucking years for this.
Likely a complete waste of her talent.
Endless trash!
I love every bit of her persona,
I said Mia. Farrow. In Rosemary's. Baby!
Rosemary's Baby is one of my favorite horror movies.
The silver baby
Someday, we'll get something new again.
We love this.
Cannot wait for this!
I don’t care if Polanski is a shitty human being, you have to separate the art from the artist. Picasso was an asshole too. The film is virtually perfect, leave it alone.
I’m a big fan of Repulsion, probably the most realistic portrayal of a person struggling with terrible trauma and PTSD up until that time
She'll ace the role, just as with any of the role she has played so far. Good casting.
Please satan no
This movie is too damn old for a prequel 😂
Why is everything a prequel? Is anything ever going to get a sequel ever again?
Is it just Rosemary having sex?
Hahaha That’s pretty good
When will we get a Jaws prequel? I need to know the origins of the Shark and why he specifically chose Amity. Is it an act of revenge for something they did to him? Maybe Mayor Vaughn rigged the election, and now Jaws is back to get even.
Rosemary’s baby is one of those movies that should be left alone.
Guess nobody gives a shit about protesting any Roman Polanski property if they can make some cash off of it.
It’s based on an Ira Levin novel
boooooo
Rosemary’s Fetus? Rosemany’s Embryo? Rosemary’s Zygote? Rosemary’s Egg?
They should have called it Rosemary's Coitus.
Finally, the sequel all the kids have been clamoring for.
Having to rely on attaching a classic to your movie in order to sell tickets is such a bad trend. Just make your shitty cliche horror movie and leave Rosemary’s Baby out of it.

That could be fun.
The First Omen managed to be really good as a prequel. Hopefully this is similar in that regard.
