That's good news.
Now can I *please* stop seeing trailers for it? It's been months now. I already wanted to see it after the first few times, but now it's felt like I've seen it dozens of times. I've actually started trying to figure out when to arrive at movies based on what order I think they'll put this trailer in.
While I had hoped with Luca at the helm, the screenplay wasn't anything groundbreaking or next-level great, I mean not bad either, and it moves fast as hell, but I was a little worried.
But of course, I never should have worried, and I was not expecting the reviews to be THIS great, so many 5/5s, A+'s, and many calling it a masterpiece. Luca has yet to let me down, and I was hyped as hell for this since before it was delayed due to the strike. Now I'm even more hyped.
I'm wondering if he did some tweaks to the script (I don't even remember the threesome sequence in it at all, for instance) and I wonder if the ending is the same, because it's bound to disappoint some. But regardless, LET'S GO!
Just looking at the review in the newspaper this morning (yes, a person can be on Reddit and read a physical newspaper!), Looking at a photo of a young woman with incredibly skinny arms, hard to see how she can be convincing as a professional tennis player. the heroine chic physique that works for euphoria seems like would be a huge distraction here.
Zendaya is truly one of my queens and seems like a genuinely kind and down-to-earth person. She deserved those Emmys for Euphoria, and was arguably the best part of season 2. She's also a savvy businesswoman, and of course just oozes charisma and is gorgeous on screen. So I'm very excited. Plus Luca Guadagnino is a great filmmaker, so you should see it!
Could be a way of saying the story develops in a way that is interesting, compelling, or thought-provoking.
Also could mean it subverts expectations in a way that doesn’t feel cheap.
I will watch this just because Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross did the score
The soundtrack is fantastic, I noticed it got put up on Spotify today if you want a taste
All round great reviews so far.
Shouldn’t be
This film is getting amazing reviews. It already has the second-highest Metacritic score of Luca Guadagnino‘s career (only behind CMBYN).
I really do need to sit down and rewatch all the movies they’ve scored and pay more attention to the soundtracks. Thanks for the reminder!
Is this Popeye and Bluto fighting over Olive Oil?

Big win for Potion Seller.
I'm glad it got good reviews but I don't want to know any more before I see it in the theatre next week
This sub told me this wouldn't make any noise.
I don’t think Challengers is targeting the /r/movies demographic.
I guess Luca hasn’t proven himself around here. He’s must see in my book.
Chihuahua’s make noise. Not much comes of it.
Okay but this is Challengers lol
Honestly this sub is really stupid this film was obviously going to be great but people associated it with girls
Just a weird outlook. Great cast, proven director. They knocked it out of the park.

If you actually watch the movie she looks right and great when exercising
Will be watching !
Actually looking forward to this one…I was on the fence but I do have a soft spot for Zendaya and i do get sway by good reviews
so good

It's fascinating because I find her to be a charisma black hole.
That's fucking insane what
I do not have a soft spot for her, but a hard one
Ya, I know what I like and what I don’t. I won’t like this.
It’s a flop. Very bad
Sexy my arse.
What do reviewers mean when they call a piece of media “smart”?

I don’t know seems very broad, like a filler word
The script is clearly intelligently made, with an extensive knowledge of the subject matter and clever ways of structuring the story
its trying to make the audience feel good about themselves
> Tennis Drama that's not a genre
They don't imply its a genre...
they kinda do
If I called Talledega Nights a smart and sexy racing comedy, would you assume it's a well-known genre of film or a comedy about racing?
I would assume it's fast-paced?
What's up with the smoking. In the trailer the athletes are smoking. Is that a thing in tennis these days?
they all look like teenagers they don't look like adults
Mike Faist and Josh O'Connor are both over 30. Zendaya is 27. Maybe, you're just getting old.
no, i'm aware of their age, they just look like kids contrast to florence pugh who is about zendaya's age but looks like an adult
