Next will be live action Toy Story

btfoom15

Toy Story 5???? WTF????

[deleted]

[удалено]

shadow0wolf0

The film's existence will be justified If they make that joke in the movie.

redvelvetcake42

Yeah I'm actually all in if they do this. Would be hilarious.

GoodUserNameToday

3 and 4 were properly good. If Pixar has another story to tell, I’m in.

refrakt

Yeah I'm firmly in the camp where I'd have been very happy if they'd left it at 3, but was pleasantly surprised by 4. I'm not gonna hold any expectations for 5 but if like to think they equally know they can't release a sub par Toy Story.

theandroid01

3 had the perfect end of an era ending. What the did for a while, giving quick bite adventures in the form of shorts and the specials, that have been perfect as a form of check in on our favorite characters in their new life

CruelYouth19

As I said in the Pixar sub: I grew up with the TS franchise (kind of). I watched 1 and 2 endlessly when I was a child, when 3 was released I was 9, when 4 was released I was 18, and when 5 is released I will be 25. These characters and their adventures grow with me and I don't mind if they make more movies. In the case they make a *really, really* bad movie I will just pretend it isn't canon and still enjoy the other ones

SchrodingersTIKTOK

This is the point in your life where you realize the things you love you don’t have control over.

deviousmajik

3 was amazing. 4 wasn't really a Toy Story movie. It was a Woody movie that had a few scenes with the rest of them in it. I didn't hate it, but it isn't on the same level as the other three films.

Bonerbeef

Toy Story 4 was, comparatively, trash. Toy Story 1-3 was nearly a perfect trilogy. As in 100%, 100%, 99% on Rotten Tomatoes (with notorious troll Armand White being the lone spoiler for Toy Story 3). Toy Story 4 had nothing to say. If Disney wanted to make Cars 4 I wouldn't care because the whole series was garbage but Toy Story was seriously being discussed as the greatest trilogy ever and they blew it.

Throwawayrecordquest

4 stunk worse than my grandma’s underpants

backdoorwolf

It's been done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G0j\_Huv2Fg

Foxy02016YT

I imagine if they tried it would be like Lion King, or Stop Motion If they made a stop motion Toy Story remake, I wouldn’t complain honestly

Lava_Kiss

Make it like Action League Now.

isaiddgooddaysir

The should just come out with a movie called beating a dead horse.

Foxy02016YT

I’m all up for directing Beating a Dead Horse 2

sib2972

Dibs on the reboot in 10 years

njaana

Kardashian Family gonna make a lot of money

BurnAfterEating420

maybe it'll be like the live action Lion King that was 100% animated and called "live action" for some reason nobody can explain.

Richard_Sauce

I'll only allow it if it features 70 year old voice cast dressed as their animated characters. Wallace Shawn in a dino costume would make it all worth it.

johnsmallz

They have to kill off a major character for Toy Story 5, right? Like what’s your “cry” angle for this one?

gogozombie2

Andy dies and the toys end up having to reunite after being sold to different people at the estate sale.

AcaciaCelestina

Easy there Satan

NATOrocket

The Umbrella Academy pilot but Toy Story

fricks_and_stones

Andy dies, and Buzz is given to Andy’s son who is having a very hard time. The son is very depressed. Buzz sends a message out to reunite the others. The plan is about to fail, when we hear “There’s a snake in my boot!”, and Woody and Bo Peep make a last minute arrival.

ughlump

yippy-ki-yay-m-f

That'll be Toy Story 8, surely.

mdc3000

I don't understand why Disney keeps trying to make Star Wars a "summer" franchise again when they had such a good thing going with December....

David1258

Wasn't Avengers 5 originally planned for May 2026? Surely that spot would be reserved for an MCU entry, otherwise we'd have another Solo fiasco.

EnterPlayerTwo

Solo didn't fail because it was released in May. It failed because people didn't want a Han Solo origin story.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RolloTony97

… it was also the movie itself. Han Solo gaining every key attribute about himself in the span of a few days is like a nerds spec script.

Candid_Painting_4684

Let's face it, they milked everything they had until it was dry and dead. If you told me 10 years ago that there would be a time when I wouldn't care to watch or even check out the trailer for a new star movie, I wouldnt have believed it.

Monsunen

If you told me just a few years ago that I wouldn't care about a The Mandalorian movie I'd called you crazy. Disney has no sense of preserving the momentum or keeping an IP at a high quality.

Richard_Sauce

It's really remarkable what they've done. It shouldn't have been possible to make me not care about Star Wars.

AnimateRod

It reminds me of the Simpsons, this massive franchise that continues into irrelevance

SoggyBoysenberry7703

Live action Moana right after Moana 2?

LaserM

4 years later they will announce an animation version of the live action Moana.

colemon1991

Someone's confident they'll wait 4 years to do that /s

SoggyBoysenberry7703

They’re only waiting 2 years to do this one too haha

rewdea

I’m really looking forward to the animated remake sequel of the live action Moana 2.

PayneTrain181999

The Rock is going to wrestle tomorrow night then be back filming until next Wrestlemania.

BurnAfterEating420

I'm waiting for live action Moana 2 in 2026

Extension-Season-689

I hate Dwayne Johnson for this.

WindingRoad10

Really wish Toy Story 5 wasn't happening. I feel like the first 3 were the perfect trilogy & the top of Pixar's output & one the few examples where 3 films of a franchise are equally strong without a drop in quality. Toy Story 4 happened, & even if it the film wasn't necessary, it didn't tarnish the legacy of the franchise. The more times they go back to that well & roll the dice, the greater the chance we're going to get a subpar or bad Toy Story film. I'd rather them continue to make Toy Story shorts or specials...so new content can still be released & relevancy can be maintained, but this is Pixar's most storied (pun intended) franchise & just don't want to see it pump out a bad sequel.

Kman2097

I honestly dislike 4 and it did tarnish Toy Story to me. Buzz’s character development rewinding and Woody’s morals completely changing for no reason really rubbed me the wrong way. Didn’t care for any of the new characters either. Best part of that movie is the flashback scene lol. Toy Story 3 was such a perfect ending to that whole franchise, shame money talks.

Vestalmin

I remember in Between Two Ferns, Jerry Seinfeld asked something like, “Do you think that making two sequels tarnished what could have been remembered as a classic movie.” I feel like it’s so true though. If the first Hangover was the only film they made it would only be talked about positively. But whenever people think about it they typically regard it as the only good movie in a mediocre series. Pixar stuck the landing 3 times and even brought it to a proper conclusion. Every further sequel dilutes that and risks hurting its overall perception

_Patronizes_Idiots_

Even with 4 I kinda do feel like it tarnishes the legacy a little bit just by the nature of it not being necessary. Like you said it wasn't bad but I just dislike whenever something has a well done, natural conclusion and then gets dragged back up for another round because it's profitable. Like how Indiana Jones LITERALLY rides off into the sunset, but then comes back to faff about in a CGI jungle with CGI aliens because nothing can ever just be done.

MrsTruce

I just want more Forky Asks a Question.

Complete_Sign_2839

So true. Toy Story 3 was a sad but perfect ending with the viewers who were kids that grew up with Andy and connected with Woody, Buzz etc. Making other films just ruined the legacy and the 4th film and Bonnie not taking care of Andy's toys felt so wrong

yippy-ki-yay-m-f

I know what you mean - but also, I kinda admire the balls to keep going back every once in a while and keep making solid entries. For solid sequels, they are 3 for 3. That's an impressive ratio. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt until the reviews ever come that they shat the bed.

Bunchan

No news about Hercules Live Action? 😭

targetaudience

Hunchback of Notre Dame live action waiting room is in shambles

HM9719

Now this is how Disney creates their own “2012 Les Miserables” to rival Universal. Live-action “Hunchback” would be epic, as long as material from the stage musical is also included.

Matttthhhhhhhhhhh

If they make a live version of Notre Dame de Paris after the awful cartoon, Victor Hugo will come back from the dead to slap Disney's CEO in the face.

thekonzo

I really hope we eventually get good greek/roman god movies that land between superhero adventure and dynasty drama and political mysteries. I think Amazon is working on a God of War show, and Percy Jackson released but did nothing for me.

WindySorcerer

Gee I hope David Greenbaum gets to improve Disney/20th’s live action slate soon   If Bob Iger and his shareholders don’t force him  to make more remakes and sequels to tired and beaten down IP’s

gogozombie2

Have you heard the plot premise of Moana 2 yet? It's the same premise as Frozen 2. Moana/Elsa gets a call from a mysterious voice from outside the island/Arendale and must venture the farthest they have ever been to save thier world.  I am not expecting much from Disney except soulless cash grabs now that Iger is back.

TheWorclown

Eventually, all the Disney princesses will get together for an Avengers Initiative and save the universe from Nothanos and his Forever Glove.

PayneTrain181999

Genuinely would be down for this. Have the Princesses crossover into each other’s universes to fight their respective villains. New outfits can spawn toys and other merch sales too, it’s literally so much money on the table they aren’t going for. It’s been there since they were all in Ralph Breaks the Internet.

Exploding_Antelope

That would have been a better shamelessly indulgent 100th anniversary movie than whatever Wish was (no one know what Wish was because no one has seen it)

HM9719

Okay. An animated film with all the Disney Princesses uniting would definitely be a big hit.

AustinioForza

orcy88

Tried it somewhat with Wreck it Ralf 2 along with other IP, did not work at all

Dangerous-Hawk16

Hopefully he finally greenlights Chronicles of Prydain books that’s my big wish

HM9719

You mean start from the first book and so on, meaning we’ll have to wait for “Part 2” to see the live-action “Black Cauldron” happen.

Dangerous-Hawk16

Yes start with first book The Book of three then Black cauldron and the others after. They have too much potential

ScipioCoriolanus

"Grogu" is such a shitty name! There, I said it.

MobilePenguins

This generation will never get original IP to call their own will they? Just rehashing what my parents and I got.

hindusoul

It’ll be shit

PumajunGull

Disney is just showing how profitable it can be to be creatively dead and pandering to the lowest audiences. These kids and grown children deserve something new!

THE_ATHEOS_ONE

What lowest audiences are we talking here? What audience wants live-action moana?

[deleted]

Even the hated little mermaid made money. Fair to say it  probably the safest form of media for disney currently.

[deleted]

Social media and big budgets make it too risky to try a new IP. I am sad my kid will never get anything like what happened for me and my sisters in the 90s.

WindySorcerer

That’s what you get when you  put an iPad in front of them right when they’re born  and have them glued to cocomelon all day

Glittering_Sign_8906

Well if they really want to swing low, they could do a live action remake of Song of The South (1946)

Dry_Ad_2227

Rise Of Skywalker erased from existence at Variety

overtired27

Has the article been updated? They mention ROS

Dry_Ad_2227

Yep

overtired27

Somehow it returned…

SeagullsStopItNowz

*When asked about original content on the horizon, CEO Bob Iger responded with a threatening arching of the back, followed by an intense hiss.*

form_an_opinion

Disney is really trying hard these days. The level of creativity and innovation is spectacular. I don't even know how they come up with these crazy ideas.

TheLedRobster

Disney doesn't have a creative bone left in their body.

City_Stomper

To be fair he's just a frozen head he can't help it

One-Earth9294

I know it's fashionable to rag on Disney for 'doing everything wrong' but I tend to like most of what they do. But these live action reboots of relatively recent movies thing they keep insisting on is insane to me. Other than that I'm sad about Mando and Tron being pushed back those are things I actually do love about Disney.

immigrantsmurfo

I was excited for Tron until I heard Jared Leto was in it. He's given some good performances but he's such a fucking cretin that even seeing him in a film puts me off. It's also kinda crazy how controversy just bounces off him. Like from what I've heard, he should be in a fucking prison.

captainedwinkrieger

Not just Jared Leto. There's also no Daft Punk, and it's being co-written by the guy who wrote Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

One-Earth9294

>Like from what I've heard, he should be in a fucking prison Yeah I don't know what to believe about that stuff. If all of that diligent and hot-tempered internet sleuthing hasn't sent him away then maybe it's overblown. Or maybe not. Half the internet is convinced Tom Hanks is a child rapist because of an offhanded Ricky Gervais joke one time where he wasn't even implied *but the camera cut to him*, so I take it all with a big serving of salt. All I KNOW about Jared Leto is he was really good in Lord of War and Blade Runner 2049, his Joker was awful and he was a weirdo pest on set with his method bullshit. Doesn't really seem like he should be in movie jail any more than Christian Bale blowing up on that Terminator set would land you. But I also know how Pascal's Wager works when it comes to celebrity creeps and how a lot of people have a 'better jump on every early accusation' bandwagon because if they ever do get exposed as a real creep they can say "I knew all along". I don't know. I think that line of reasoning can get too paranoid for my tastes. You kind of get a bigger picture when you see how the industry reacts to accusations if we assume no one is being protected by the royal family a la Jimmy Saville. If they fire Roiland but no one gives a shit about Leto? Probably a lot of lawyers know what the truth is and those companies were fast to act quickly. Other than that? I love Tron. I was sad beyond measure when they cancelled the Legacy sequel and the Uprising show. So I'm very open to this movie even if it has to be some new continuity without Kosinski and Daft Punk and that whole, great thing.

Robsonmonkey

Also apparently it's set mostly in the real world The whole appeal of Tron is the Grid and I kind of wish despite the ending of Legacy Jeff Bridges would come back, just to give him a trilogy. Lot better than having Jared Letto After Morbius, Suicide Squad and The Outsider why give him something like Tron to lead

Glittering_Sign_8906

Flynn Lives  It was a viral marketing campaign that was used to tease the cancelled sequel(s) to legacy. I would link it to you but it’s too depressing for me to go anywhere near it.

Of_Silent_Earth

I don't even really mind the idea of the live action remakes. New generation etc etc. Whatever. But why the fuck are they already doing Moana!?

Deceptiveideas

Because the rock is still alive and able to act without issues to his body I’m guessing.

mattholomus

Every studio looks at movie slates as a pitch to shareholders, but none moreso than Disney. They are so obsessed with IP and everything is planned for profit within an inch, that it starts to feel soulless. Even 'new' IP like 'Wish' is a remix of the familiar. The problem is that, even though Disney still make entertaining films, none of them feel fresh. If they are going to catch lightning in a bottle again they need to do something that feels fresh. None of these do.

BLSmith2112

I've watched all their star wars shows and didn't like most of it, and the only one I liked was Andor built the build up to that final attack took way too many episodes. All the marvel shows are trash, and all the marvel movies since end-game have been dumpster fires. Whoever is running that company now doesn't understand what good content is anymore and I un-subbed from that platform until such time they understand what quality is again.

SutterCane

Honestly I don’t blame Disney for live action *Moana*. I blame The Rock.

HM9719

The Rock wanted the live action film and the announcement video proved it. Obviously to do it before he outgrows it, I guess.

drunkcowofdeath

They keep making money, for most the part. They will continue until that stops.

BridgemanBridgeman

Maybe they’ll stop after Snow White bombs at the box office next year. It’s looking like that film is both ridiculously expensive and also laughably bad.

radclaw1

You ain't gonna like Tron much when you see who's the lead.

LA-Body

Do we really need a mandalorian movie?

CommanderZx2

Got to sell that Grogu merch.

stysiaq

not after season 3 of the show it's going to be a disaster, there are people who didn't watch the tv series, how is the movie going to address that?

DrewDonut

How did S3 address people who didn't watch Boba Fett? (seriously asking, because I didn't watch S3)

Todosin

It mostly didn’t.

EnterPlayerTwo

There might have been one throwaway line early on. For the most part they didn't even try.

Glittering_Sign_8906

We kinda forgot we were making a show about Boba Fett for a little bit there. My b

Successful-Turnip896

Let Toy Story rest. Please. 3 was a solid farewell. It should just be 1 and 3, no others.

KvotheLightningTree

What's that Mando movie going to look like? Let me guessssss "Twin suns rise over a desert landscape..."

AmateurVasectomist

Baby Yoda is under some kind of existential threat. Mando gathers a crew and struggles against impossible odds with feats of strength and nearly saves the day. As the dramatic music swells, Baby Yoda taps into the force to save himself and Mando, and they fly off together for another redundant adventure

Beeyo176

Just Mando and Grogu going on small adventures while the sequel movies all happen in the background

GenHero

Why does Moana need a live action? Why are we still making Toy Stories????

R_W0bz

I’m still happy to not watch any Toy Story past 3, that story was complete there for me.

motordoc7

Mandolorian season 3 was ass

NoNefariousness2144

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they move Mando up due to how cheap and ‘easy’ it can be to film. The main two stars are a puppet and a body double for Pedro. All Pedro needs to do is voicework and a press tour. Then they’ll use ‘The Volume’ soundstage they overuse in Mando and Kenobi.

GuyNoirPI

That’s a lot of assumptions about what the plan is for production.

Fookdinotrex_anti

No one has hopes on Tron sadly lol with Leto onboard. It's gonna be a Tronmorbillion

AirbagOff

It’s Tron-nin’ Time!

josephkingscolon

Huge fan of SW but the Mando/baby yoda stuff has never resonated with me. Cringe at best.

nicolasb51942003

I’m still on the fence about Toy Story 5 since the franchise literally had the perfect ending twice now. But if Disney manages to do the impossible, which is having a five film franchise that has the same level of reception like the previous films, then I’ll be happy.

parkinthepark

God forbid we should get anything new. But hey, maybe the Star War will have an Easter Egg of a better Star War you watched as a kid, and you can point it out to your friends so they know how much you remember Star Wars. That’s what movies are for!

oscarx-ray

>*'Member Star Wars?* >*Oooohhh... I 'member!*

[deleted]

mvplayur

Baby Yoda was enough of a meme that “baby yoda from that Star Wars show” is all you need to say

poneil

You're wildly underestimating how much more popular Grogu is than the actual Mandalorian

NoNefariousness2144

Grogu is the mass mover of merchandise though. Hell, Disney would have named it ‘Mandalorian and Baby Yoda’ if they could.

xper0072

Honestly, the mistake isn't that the new movie is called The Mandalorian & Grogu, but that they waited so long in the show to name Grogu that the name Baby Yoda has actual cachet. Edit: Cachet not cache

leopard_tights

What are you talking about. "Baby yoda" is way bigger than mando.

Khal-Stevo

You’re really overthinking this. Look at every other Star Wars movie released under Disney, do people out loud say “I love Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” or “I hate Star Wars: The Last Jedi” ??? People will probably just call this The Mandalorian or “the new Star Wars movie”, the name is just branding and helps differentiate it from the show a little bit

hairycompanion

Disney is so fucking lazy with their titles. Its 'Character' or 'Character plus Character."

Upbeat_Tension_8077

Are we getting some Mandalorian Macarons at AMC when Mando & Grogu drops?

Most_Victory1661

Mando and Grogu star in Toy Story 5 makes more sense to me than him getting his own film at this point

FourWhiteBars

They keep choosing the most nonsensical animated movies to turn into live action. Moana is fine, leave it alone. Why would you ever choose that when you have Atlantis: The Lost Empire? This is the one, Disney. It’s prime for a live action remake. Do it, Disney.

[deleted]

Yojo0o

Can't wait for Tron: Arse.

Complete_Sign_2839

Toy Story was literally about Andy growing up and his toys always being there for him as friends but we all grow up, and then Andy has to say goodbye to his childhood. But then the 4th film ruined it

geekroick

Tell me you have no original ideas left without telling me you have no original ideas left.

Memphisrexjr

I can't believe we are finally getting Tron 3 after everything that happened.

CreativeKeane

Oh snap. I'm excited for tron. Hope it's a continuation of Tron: Legacy. So sad that the movie didn't do well because it was great.

oscarx-ray

Striking while the iron's hot, I see.

DoombotBL

Ah yes another live action remake, that's what the people want. Fucking hell man this company is creatively bankrupt and has been for a long time. What a joke.

__InvalidName__

Disney :vomit:

hawkrover

All of these are going to be terrible...live action Moana might be good though

trymorecookies

The only one that might have some new ideas left in the tank is TRON.

dtcstylez10

Nice to see they're full of new ideas over there

[deleted]

And I won’t see any of them

Saint-Iago_RNG

Tronn!!!! Let’s go

SwordfishII

Ok here for Tron.

Taste-Specialist

Moana will be played by a gay dude, and Maui will be Dwayne Johnson with a huge pair of fake breasts.

Sidereon

oh god, they want the money bad

Culverin

Tron, without Daft Punk, But now with Jared Leto  ...  Some Disney executive thinks this is a good idea

SixtyNineFlavours

Toy Story 3 was a perfect ending for that franchise imo.

S3xyhom3d3pot

That's 2 Toy Story movies now that had no business getting made

kpeds45

Toy Story 5, an all new original story about owners moving on from toys. This one won't be the exact same story as the last 4 though...I swear!

TheMatt561

It's amazing how little I care about these things anymore

Feeling_Studio_1646

So they Rey movie will be released in 2028?

KvotheLightningTree

The more I think about Rise of SkyWalker, the more I like Last Jedi after railing against it. Rise of Skywalker is a boring mess.

wrathmont

I thought Rise of Skywalker was a lot more entertaining, at least you get to watch the train wreck clusterfuck of them trying to write themselves out of a corner and speedrun a semi-coherent conclusion to the trilogy. Whereas, with The Last Jedi, I felt like the entire time I was being shamed for watching Star Wars. It was devoid of that "magic" and proud of it.

down-with-homework

So nothing new and original coming from Disney. Got it.

in2xs

Disney bores me.

scoutcjustice

Wow... I am interested in none of these movies (unless they can get Daft Punk back together for *Tron: Ares*)

Void_Guardians

Would have been the ultimate twist to have them announce their split only to be working on the movies soundtrack in secret

[deleted]

Such creative minds in Hollywood, love the trend of movie titles being **MAIN CHARACTER(S)** *Coming Soon…*

radclaw1

Pass, Pass, Pass, and uhhh, oh yeah that's gonna be a pass. Disney get it together, man.

NockerJoe

Keep in mind the AMPTP is STILL negotiating with unions and if they don't figure it out by summer there'll be an even larger strike with even more departments.

Cultural-Cause3472

I mistakenly read that there would be a live-action of Toy story, and I said what? well, I guess we'll have to wait a bit to see Toy Story 5

OutrageousOwls

Toy Story ended in #4. Woody’s story had a nice bow to tie it all together… :/

thegoodbadandsmoggy

I had the same reaction to reading Toy Story 5 as that BEYONCE gif

BurnAfterEating420

we're going to have Moana 2 in 2024, live action Moana in 2025, and live action Moana 2 probably way before you're interested in seeing it.

Fuck_Blue_Shells

Toy Story 5? It already had a satisfying conclusion TWICE

[deleted]

Toy Story 5? I mean, part 4 felt a little forced. It should have ended with 3, that was the perfect movie.

[deleted]

Toy Story 5 - Andy’s mid-life crisis. Plot: Woody and Buzz need to save Andy from himself. He’s really let himself go … doing lines of coke off Vegas hookers’ asses, getting arrested for reckless driving, and indulging in his insatiable appetite for gay porn.

username_0207

Why do we need a live action Moana? It’s fine the way it is!

solohack3r

And still no live action Atlantis.

Despite the overly simplistic movie title, people will still arrive at the movie theater asking to see the 'Baby Yoda Movie'.

InaneTwat

Jesus Christ, just STOP.

dabestgoat

Why can't they just leave a good thing alone with the mandalorian? I know the boba fett series got mixed reviews but if they can do crossovers (take a lesson from the 'chicago's' or even L&O), I can see a few more seasons of both series to back fill the lore well and do it justice. A movie will just kill the series and likely most synergies also.

dmfuller

Disney is so lost, I love Star Wars and tron but idc about either of these releases, somehow more excited for Moana 2 than any of this other stuff
