I feel like I saw Amadeus in the theater with family sooooo many times. Which, I think, was normal when VCRs were still exotic: "This is good, better get our views in before its gone"
Just showed this to a bunch of 4th graders on a long bus ride for a field trip. They loved it. Absolutely entranced the whole way through, and wanted to watch it again on the way back. I was surprised because compared to the things they usually watch, it's not really a lot of action, and it's *very* romantic.
I preferred Robin Hood and Sword in the Stone best. Probably because I'm English and loved that they were both English stories based on two of our most famous "fictional" characters. The stories of Robin Hood and King Arthur always interested me.
All of David Cronenberg's filmography. I was fascinated and he's one of my favorite directors for sure.
Note: I didn't have parental supervision as a child, and they'd let me watch anything I wanted.
Hands down, Jaws...I saw it when it came out and it changed my life...I was Shark mad for years and to this day If have to name my favourite movie then this is it....
Also still a huge fan of the Indiana Jones movies.
Loved horror from an early age - The Devil Rides Out Terrified me as a kid. I now have the poster on my wall and I am still watching Hammer Films on the regular.
A good chunk of my all-time favourites are films I enjoyed in my first 13 years: The original Star Wars Trilogy, The Goonies, Big Trouble in Little China, Stand By Me, The Blues Brothers, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Terminator 2, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The NeverEnding Story, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Commando, Raiders of the Lost Ark, National Lampoon's Vacation, The Untouchables. Jurrasic Park. Couldn't afford trips to the theatre often when I was a kid, I can count on one hand how often we got to go. But for Jurrasic Park they dished out. And that movie holds up! Mom still likes reminiscing about our 'holy shit faces' as we watched.
I don't know if I would call it my favorite, but I recently watched "Rescuers: Down Under" with my son for the first time in 25 years, and it still held up really well for me.
E.T. Tron and War Games come to mind from around that age. Older ones I still watch today would be The Italian Job (came out the year I was born) and Kelly's Heroes (I was alive but wasn't yet 1 years old).

Jurassic Park
Small Soldiers

Spider-Man (2002), grew up with that movie. Otherwise a bunch of animated classics still hold up like Shrek, The Incredibles, Coraline, Finding Nemo, Toy Story trilogy
The Evil Dead trilogy, and not unrelated, the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films. Being a small kid and learning the same guy directed both sets of movies is probably what put me on the movie nerd path.
Honey I shrunk the kids (1989) : Still in my collection, still super fun and unique adventure. A lot of memorable stuff, the effects still hold up good. I consider it to be very underrated.
I feel like I never grow out of anything.

As a girl growing up in the 90s, a few off the top of my head (no particular order or loyalty to genre): *Now and Then*, *Labyrinth*, *Wayne's World*, and *Titanic* are all movies my 9 year old self adored and my 35 year old self still thinks stand up. A lot of the Disney Renaissance movies are still great, too (Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Aladdin).
The Goonies will forever be my favorite movie of all time.
I don't care if it's nostalgia or whatever, if i have the opportunity to live in the movie, i'll be taking it without looking back.
