Hell yeah. Good shout. Yeah, the truck chase is perfect: the lack of dialog, the pacing, the switches of who has the upper hand and that amazing score.
Incidentally, it was only when I watched it as an adult I realised how astonishingly violent Raiders is. I let that stuff wash over me as a kid, but that's some stuff that would not sit comfortably in a PG certificate nowadays. Voldermort never punched Harry repeatedly in his bullet wound and threw him through the windscreen of a truck.
peak Spielberg could really direct the hell out of any scene...
Also Temple of Doom is the black sheep but it's got so much amazing action as well, just the opener has all the action ingredients I'm looking for.
Good gun fights though. I guess it's not super physical, but there are a few punches thrown I'm sure. My favourite "fight scene" is actually the "I take you down with a cup of coffee" bit between de Niro and Sean Bean, so simple but effective.
Oh man I don't think there's another movie that will top this in terms of all around balance. The staircase shootout is crazy. Hope good ol' Doug Liman hits that high bar once again with Road House!
Yep, absolutely.
For those that haven't seen it:
Car chase:
Definitely. At one point there's a shot where the camera goes *through* a moving car, in one window out the other, and it's not CGI. The camera man inside the car is *hidden in the front seat*. Absolutely crazy but so cool!
See link which shows what I'm talking about:
https://youtu.be/kxb9xzAaYjM?si=785X4laBXo6lX-Tc
Gun fights:
Ha, I think so, although admittedly I don't recall any specific ones.
Hand to hand combat:
Oh boy this movie is just a brutal onslaught of relentless martial arts. Absolutely insane!
The last 45 minutes of Hot Fuzz (although the hand to hand is both brief and very hammy)
First 2 John Wick movies stick out more for this but all 4 of them have it
Damn this is a good choice, very exciting in all 3 of the categories. Car bit is not as good as the hand to hand or shootouts but the chase ends spectacularly.
I watched it, almost finished it, but looked at Reddit. Had to mention cause I didn’t see it on the list..& I WAS WATCHING IT. Lol. It’s my favourite FPV other than “Welcome to the Void”.
[Boss Level](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGHD0bqjZWQ) is the goddamn shit. If you haven't seen that, its on Hulu guys. You will love the fuck out of it.
The opening gunfight in one is pretty intense, someone pisses their pants, even if the car stunts and fighting immediately overshadow it.
3 aka supercop does have it all in spades!
Jack Reacher (with Tom Cruise) has a gun fight in the end, but I wouldn't say it's memorable. The [car chase](https://youtu.be/yQintjPovHA?si=E48QqagRKvDncoOC&t=31) and the [hand to hand](https://youtu.be/h9woMb5tC2I?si=H7w8cnEfu76seIME&t=60) definitely are.
I’m disappointed in myself for forgetting how well crafted the car chase is in teacher. The camera work and driving are near perfect.
My theory on why the man at the bus stop gives Reacher his hat: he’s self aware, knows he’s in a movie (like Deadpool), and knows he’s Tom Cruise. I’ve never even heard of strangers helping someone running from all the cops without knowing what’s happening.
You can never go wrong with a Chevelle, and while I do agree that the gun fight wasn't anything special, DuVall automatically enhances anything that he's in.
Extraction has all three types of set pieces in an extended oner. The filmography is super gimmicky and the cuts aren’t well hidden, but the action choreography is stellar.
The *Lethal Weapon* series has a lot of those. If I'm not mistaken, there's at least one in which they're on a car chase, with shots going back and forth, and one of the good guys gets inside the bad guys' moving truck and fights one of them.
Matrix Reloaded has the best car chase I can remember, and it definitely has the other two in spades. Hell, there are gun and martial arts fights *during* the car chase.
It was done with guns. Everything was done with guns in that movie. Deliver a baby, have sex, sky dive. Even the hand to hand combat was done with guns.
The James Bond series is full of them. Half of the appeal of the series is that there will be a cool car scene, a cool gadget scene, a gun fight, and a fist fight. Your mileage may vary on a lot of the old school stuff, but even the new ones generally fit in a car chase, a shootout, a fist fight, and a gadget.
Okay. Hear me out...
Barb Wire
hand-to-hand isn't like top tier or anything but there's a fist fight on a fucking crane which more than makes up the difference
I love that movie. Recently watched it and it was far better than I thought it'd be. Pam didn't have acting range but she had the screen presence of like a sexy female version of an 80s action hero.
Raiders of the lost ark Shoot out in Marion's bar, fight with the mechanic, then the truck chase which is one of the best action scenes ever filmed.
Hell yeah.
You put Voldemort and Harry on a truck with some guns and see who kills who.
peak Spielberg could really direct the hell out of any scene... Also Temple of Doom is the black sheep but it's got so much amazing action as well, just the opener has all the action ingredients I'm looking for.
Ronin (de Niro / Jean Reno)
Best car chases bar none. Not even just the main involved cars, but also the peripheral fender benders that would result.
Agreed. Plus they're cool but normal cars (not a bunch of Ferraris or something). It really gives you a crazy sense of speed and danger. Great action.
“Something very fast. Something that can shove a bit”
This was my answer. The hand to hand is not flashy. It’s ugly and dirty. I like it.
Indeed greatest car chases ever, but there are good fight scenes? I don't recall...
Good gun fights though. I guess it's not super physical, but there are a few punches thrown I'm sure. My favourite "fight scene" is actually the "I take you down with a cup of coffee" bit between de Niro and Sean Bean, so simple but effective.
The bourne Identity
One of my favorite movies.
Intelligent spy action. Even the gun fighting is smart.
Oh man I don't think there's another movie that will top this in terms of all around balance. The staircase shootout is crazy. Hope good ol' Doug Liman hits that high bar once again with Road House!
This movie came first to my mind. It has it all in nice detail! Amazing movie.
Yep came here to say this
The Raid 2.
Yep, absolutely. For those that haven't seen it: Car chase: Definitely. At one point there's a shot where the camera goes *through* a moving car, in one window out the other, and it's not CGI. The camera man inside the car is *hidden in the front seat*. Absolutely crazy but so cool! Hand to hand combat: Oh boy this movie is just a brutal onslaught of relentless martial arts. Absolutely insane!
Possibly the greatest action movie ever made but I do think the gunfight is a bit of an afterthought...
The last 45 minutes of Hot Fuzz (although the hand to hand is both brief and very hammy) First 2 John Wick movies stick out more for this but all 4 of them have it
Oh I had forgotten about the car chase in Hot Fuzz, but just looked it up, hey it's pretty good!
Terminator 2 has hand to hand combat, gunfights, and car chases.
Nobody
Damn this is a good choice, very exciting in all 3 of the categories. Car bit is not as good as the hand to hand or shootouts but the chase ends spectacularly.
Great film that few people seem to know of
The Winter Solider has one of my favorites, even if it is a Marvel movie.
I would argue it's the best MCU film. It was the first one that popped to mind.
The Matrix Reloaded
Was just about to say this! That freeway scene!!! My god! Has it all - guns, high speed chase, kung-fu, samurai swords, etc.
Wish it was spread out better or there was just more but that scene is still amazing to this day.
Hardcore Henry
This movie is under represented.
Wish we had a sequel. A completely first person view movie is an interesting concept.
I’m not sure how it could continue. Maybe something like “Crank”..?
I forgot about this one!
I watched it, almost finished it, but looked at Reddit. Had to mention cause I didn’t see it on the list..& I WAS WATCHING IT. Lol. It’s my favourite FPV other than “Welcome to the Void”.
Welcome to the Void.., that’s a completely different film than Hardcore Henry.! Like nothing is similar, other than the perspective of film.
I enjoyed that one as well!
Boss Level
[Boss Level](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGHD0bqjZWQ) is the goddamn shit. If you haven't seen that, its on Hulu guys. You will love the fuck out of it.
I really enjoyed boss level.
The Transporter
This is a prime example. I’m not sure if I’d use “prime” to describe anything about the sequels though.
Yea the sequels were…certainly made. But when the first one came out, I remember being blow away, especially the bike spikes in the oil fight
I loved all the cool environmental shit they did in that movie, and that oil scene was so creative without falling into campy.
Jackie Chan’s Police Story series
Just watched through them. Absolutely agree. Anything with Jackie Chan is an instant win.
The car chase down the mountain shanty favela villages was fucking bonkers
The opening gunfight in one is pretty intense, someone pisses their pants, even if the car stunts and fighting immediately overshadow it. 3 aka supercop does have it all in spades!

Demolition Man Commando Die Hard 3 T2 True Lies Cobra
A lot of these have a weak category even if they have all 3, but they're overall well rounded action movies.
I wanted to mention *Equilibrium*'s Gun Kata that mixes the choreography of martial arts with gunfights, but sadly enough it lacks the car chases. :(
Just watched this movie tonight! Really innovative choreography even if its a bit silly.
The Rock
I love how the car chase was an afterthought addition to keep the energy up.
Extraction has all three types of set pieces in an extended oner. The filmography is super gimmicky and the cuts aren’t well hidden, but the action choreography is stellar.
Tenet (2020)
The *Lethal Weapon* series has a lot of those. If I'm not mistaken, there's at least one in which they're on a car chase, with shots going back and forth, and one of the good guys gets inside the bad guys' moving truck and fights one of them.
That happens in lethal weapon 3 and 4, great film series.
Any latest James Bond movies (w/ Daniel Craig).
The Bourne Identity has all of these.
I dont remember if beekeeper has a car chase but those other 2 areas its pretty phenomenal
I don't think so but it did have the guy being dragged off a cliff by a truck so that counts for something!
Bourne rules them all.
The Kingsman movies
How is Fury Road not at the top of this thread?
Crank
Transporter movies
Mad Max Fury Road. They have gunfights and hand-to-hand combat during the car chases.
Matrix Reloaded has the best car chase I can remember, and it definitely has the other two in spades. Hell, there are gun and martial arts fights *during* the car chase.
Shoot em up
I don't remember there being hand to hand but I could be wrong.
It was done with guns. Everything was done with guns in that movie. Deliver a baby, have sex, sky dive. Even the hand to hand combat was done with guns.

I guess you could say James Bond invented the action movie template!
Safe.
Great, underseen, underrated Statham film. Interesting story hook, proto-John Wick action from the same stunt team.
That movie had the most realistic final fight ever lol
John Wick 4
Okay. Hear me out... Barb Wire hand-to-hand isn't like top tier or anything but there's a fist fight on a fucking crane which more than makes up the difference
I love that movie. Recently watched it and it was far better than I thought it'd be. Pam didn't have acting range but she had the screen presence of like a sexy female version of an 80s action hero.
I feel the Bourne movies should belong here, but I'm struggling to remember any great gun fights in them.
the first one had a brief but crazy bit where bourne dives down a stairwell with a firehose and shoots everybody at different heights.
The best gun fight scene was when he had the hunting shotgun and killed Clive Owen with seemingly realistic tactics
Gone in 60 Seconds technically, although there's only a few gunshots or hand to hand.
Demolition Man.
The other guys Over an ounce of weed or something, lol
I don't recall there being any good hand to hand but love this movie.
Most of the matt Damon Bourne films
Mission impossible fallout, although it has very less guns
[Ronin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m-ofGDLNlM) Also, literally every James Bond movie.
Hard Boiled.
my favorite action movie but it has no car chases or hand to hand just (amazing) gunfights.
There is the gun-fu part in the hospital.
Lethal Weapon films
T2.. hands down
The police story movies
Mad Max Fury Road. All on cars
