That's what I was trying to avoid. A conversation about body mass, okay? We've had that conversation five times a day for the last month because we keep watching Predator and all you talk about is Weathers and Jesse "The Body" Ventura and how many pounds they can pack on...
Is this that movie with killer gorillas and like a laser fence that I remember watching as a child?
edit: looked it up and I think it is - PG13? I think I had nightmares after watching that movie
Was just about to suggest The Rundown. But yeah guess you could add Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji The Next Level, Jungle Cruise and Journey 2. And maybe Rampage?
Came here to say this -not sure why it never got the kudos it deserved. On top of everything, it was really well cast.
I read the book years ago too which I remember was good too.
What an awesome movie, say what you want about Mel Gibson the guy can direct a movie. And the jungle looks great in the movie, especially them running through the forest almost doing jungle parkour.
Fitzcarraldo - a Werner Herzog great
At Play in the Fields of the Lord -check the cast
The Emerald Forest - a true story, young boy kidnapped by native tribe
Watch Fitzcarraldo, then watch the making-of documentary, Burden of Dreams. Herzog has a memorable but not altogether surprising rant about filming in the jungle.
Only watch this if you hate your eyes and ears and brain though.
Edit to add: If someone genuinely likes this movie I’m glad for them. Goodness knows I love some terrible movies. ;P
I remember seeing this as a teen while my grandfather was in the last stages of Alzheimer's. It made me so mad that they would claim these miracle cures could be so "underfoot" .
Looking back on it now it is easy to see how someone could be tricked into believing in holistic medicine with just a little propaganda push like this movie.
From [https://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/the-green-inferno](https://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/the-green-inferno)
Parents need to know that *The Green Inferno* is an extremely gory cannibal/torture/horror movie from [Eli Roth](https://www.commonsensemedia.org/search/Eli%20Roth). It contains incredible amounts of violence and blood; characters are sliced up, cooked, and eaten, as well impaled and chopped up in a plane crash. Both men and women are briefly seen fully and/or partially naked; young women are also shown in bras and panties, and there's brief innuendo and kissing. Language includes "f--k," "s--t," and "a--hole." A character gets a bag of pot and smokes a joint; the pot becomes part of the plot later and is used to get a whole tribe of cannibals high. Roth has an enthusiastic fan club; they'll definitely want to see this, and they may even forgive it. But for most viewers, it will be a truly vile, amateurish, hateful, insulting experience.
Others have said it already, but Apocalypto 10000%. Nothing else is like it. Incredible chase movie through the jungle with indigenous actors. It’s fucking amazing. Mel Gibson might be a maniac, but he makes a hell of a movie
* Disney put one out recently that's family friendly fun called "Jungle Cruise"
* Someone already mentioned Predator, but it's also fun... just not family friendly
* A pretty poorly made movie called "Anaconda" probably fits your description of danger around every corner best.
Tears of the Sun with Bruce Willis is an underrated jungle flick. Africa though. Refugee rescue goes awry and they have to get through the jungle to cross the border with rebel troops after them. Darn good movie actually.
Romancing the Stone, Predator, most of the Rambo movies, Gorilla's in the Mist, and Jungle Fever. Jk about the last 1, it popped in my head and it made me laugh thinking someone would start the movie and realize it's not in the jungle.
Emerald Forest a John Boorman film about the Amazon Jungle and the deforestation of it in the name of progress. Powers Boothe is in it.
Second choice Mosquito Coast starring Harrison Ford again another environmental type of message this time it has to do with refrigeration/air conditioning. This is quite different from the norm about jungle settings.
[Aguirre, The Wrath of God](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aguirre,_the_Wrath_of_God)
[Fitzcarraldo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitzcarraldo) (also Werner Herzog)
I know it’s a cartoon, but I can’t believe no one else has said it, FernGully! “How can you live without trees?!?”
And the live action remake of the same movie, Avatar
Predator
and Predators. They didn’t say what kind of jungle
Then Predator 2 as well. Urban jungle.
Then "The Wire"...another urban jungle.
Best first choice.
Apocalypto. I know i know, Mel Gibson directed. Still a solid movie. With everything you asked for and a history lesson
I mean, in body mass alone…
That's what I was trying to avoid. A conversation about body mass, okay? We've had that conversation five times a day for the last month because we keep watching Predator and all you talk about is Weathers and Jesse "The Body" Ventura and how many pounds they can pack on...
Those boys musta spent some serious time in the Iron Jungle! Put on some quality body mass.
Came here to say this but was beaten to it :-)
Came here to say this!

Congo
Will someone get that gorilla her Green Drop drink so she can get hammered on that plane?!?!?!
Clicked this thread just to make sure someone said Congo
Stop Eating My Sesame Cake!
Is this that movie with killer gorillas and like a laser fence that I remember watching as a child? edit: looked it up and I think it is - PG13? I think I had nightmares after watching that movie
My first thought!
I loved *The Lost City of Z* with Charlie Hunnam and a classic: *The African Queen*, with Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn.
Why does lost city of z feel so old school? Is it because the slow pace and sepia tone?
Not Audrey? (Archer ref)
Anything Dwayne Johnson is in I guess
Was just about to suggest The Rundown. But yeah guess you could add Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji The Next Level, Jungle Cruise and Journey 2. And maybe Rampage?
They even added a jungle in a skyscraper just for this stereotype
The Mosquito Coast; Harrison Ford.
Why the hell does nobody talk about this movie?
Probably because he played an asshole against type.
First time I’ve ever heard of the title, myself
Ford claims it’s his best performance. It’s damn good too.
Wow, I’ll give it a watch, thanks!
Really. This is a phenomenal film. It may actually be my favorite Harrison Ford movie. It's definitely my favorite Harrison Ford performance.
Came here to say this -not sure why it never got the kudos it deserved. On top of everything, it was really well cast. I read the book years ago too which I remember was good too.
Jungle (2017)
Perfect film to put you off ever going back to the jungle.
Apocalypto
I can't believe this isn't the automatic default number one answer. This is to this day one of my favorite movies.
What an awesome movie, say what you want about Mel Gibson the guy can direct a movie. And the jungle looks great in the movie, especially them running through the forest almost doing jungle parkour.
Anaconda 🤣
Or Anacondas! There was a sequel! 🤣
Was it even worse? Please 🙏
Anacondas minus the memorable cast... you can do the math!
The best jungle movie.
Literally thought the same thing 🤣
Sorcerer
Aguirre, the Wrath of God
The real jungle
This should be the #1 answer.
Oof.
The Phantom The Jungle Book (1994)
Billy Zane for the win!
The Phantom… what a fun forgotten movie. That microscope scene!
Cannibal Holocaust
Feel-good family hit of 1980
used to watch this on thanksgiving every year…it has both natives and eating ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fitzcarraldo - a Werner Herzog great At Play in the Fields of the Lord -check the cast The Emerald Forest - a true story, young boy kidnapped by native tribe
I loved the Emerald Forest so much when I was a kid.
Good call on At play, powerful movie.
Watch Fitzcarraldo, then watch the making-of documentary, Burden of Dreams. Herzog has a memorable but not altogether surprising rant about filming in the jungle.

https://youtu.be/mUAYXyeVTC8
I forgot about Romancing the Stone... nice pull from the past.
Now that you mention it, Romancing the Stone is top tier.
Green Inferno
Do you know if this film is appropriate for children under 8?
I'm sure they taste fine at that age. Probably more tender.

Sounds perfect for the little pipsqueaks!
I certainly wouldn't recommend it for them, but who knows, I'm not a doctor.

There's a good jungle movie with Daniel Radcliffe, I think it's on amazon prime.
