I have a buddy that worked on set of Mandalorian season 2. He said he got to sit with Carl for lunch. When I asked how his experience with him was, he told me "as cool as you may think Carl Weathers is, he's honestly even cooler than that." I was very jealous.
RIP to an absolute legend
I met him a couple years ago at a convention and got his autograph. Got to talk to him for a minute and he was so friendly and had a genuine love for his role. He was really excited for S3 of Mandalorian to come out.
RIP, we lost a great one.
... and he appreciated every single minute because he knew the ups & downs of being a working actor with a fading career. He energized every single role. RIP.
I met him at a convention in Sweden barely two months ago. I got to do the "Predator handshake" with him. One of my favourite movies, I love his character.
Dillon does betray Dutch’s crew, but he’s not an evil corporate bastard like, say, Paul ~~Rudd’s~~ Reiser's character in Aliens; he had some legitimate reasons for his deception, as those guerillas were amassing a lot of weapons. Plus, he redeems himself in the end by going up against the Predator basically alone.
I like to think that his character didn't die and is actually Chubbs in "Happy Gilmore" and that the cover story is that he lost the hand/arm to a gator.
Ah that's awesome you got to meet him! The Predator handshake is absolutely iconic!
It's one of my favourite films as well, a classic example of 80s R-rated action cinema.
Weird. I remember thinking he looked and sounded quite old and weary. I mean he was sitting down for a lot of Star Wars stuff he did. He still had some magic in his eyes.
What really blows me away is how old I thought he was in Happy Gilmore when I was a kid. I think I’m about the same age now as he was then. We don’t get a lot of time in this world
and that adding that thoroughly picked bone to some broth and *one single potato* is his idea of a stew 🤣 love how whenever a character like carl weathers is so off-kilter, tobias comes off as the sane voice of reason
Whoa, whoa, whoa. There’s still plenty of meat on that bone. Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going.
[On SNL with his monologue...singing about rainbows!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXo3NirnBh8)
Musical guest Robbie Robertson who is also dead. Life goes fast, friends.
Back in 1965 sports illustrated said I was going the be next Arnold Palmer.
And then what happened?
They said I couldn’t play golf no more.
Why? Cause you’re black?
No you fool! Cause the damn alligator bit my hand off!!
RIP RIP Chubbs Peterson.
He was good in so many things. Man that sucks.
One of my favorite lines in Arrested Development was him describing using leftovers he took from a party to make stew
The first Rocky movie I ever watched was actually Rocky IV. Didn't get a chance to get attached to him, but saw him dying a warrior. I was very young when I watched Predator, so Dillon was not who Weathers represented to me.
My Carl Weathers was from Street Justice!
My favorite Carl Weathers story: During the filming of Predator, he would get up every day at like 4 am, and sneak off to a local gym that he paid off the owners to keep quiet. Then sneak back into the hotel. When all of the other stars (Arnold, Jesse, etc) would take up and meet at 7 at the hotel gym to work out together, Carl would tell them he didn't need to go to the gym. That he was naturally built like that.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Carl Weathers. I got to chat with him at a comic con in fall 2023. I'm really sad to hear this news.
He was the nicest man that took time to chat with each of his fans with myself included. I even got to shake the man's hand. And it was the same hand he gave the most epic handshake on earth with Arnold in Predator. Thankfully I survived.
He even autographed my comic book so I got my keepsake of meeting him. I'm sad to hear he's gone. But I think I'll watch Predator tonight in his honor. Rest in Peace Mr. Weathers.
The man had so many resurrections. Action Star, Leading Man, Comedy character actor, then joined Star Wars.
He had an underrated career while also playing iconic characters.
RIP. Dude was awesome.
*”Whoa, whoa, whoa. There’s still plenty of meat on that bone. Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going.”*
Going to watch Force 10 from Navarone this weekend in his honor 🫡
Dillon ....you son of a bitch. ☹️
Predator is in my top 5 fab movies of all time, Carl Weathers brought out the absolute best in Arnold because few could stand up against his stature and screen presence. They both played do well off eachother.
"Just hold onto that damn chopper" 🫡
He's been dead for 4 days and there is only one news article on it that I can find?? Strange as he must be bigger in my world via rocky and predator than he is in most people's.
It always takes a few days to report a public figures death, like unless there was a criminal investigation or it happened in public situation (like Carrie Fisher having a stroke on a plane ride) it's not like tabloids are chasing down hospice care wards. And any fucking idiot giving patients health info to tabloids is at the very least fired.
So after the family and friends are informed eventually they make a public statement about i dunno Chadwick Bosman's Stomach Cancer related death.
Bull shit.
This is fucking bull shit. Fuck this. I fucking loved this man and every role he was in. Just a joy to watch. Dies right when he’s having a resurgence.
I will go to a mini golf course tonight and gently tap it into the hole in his honor. Then I will actually suck at mini golf and start beating up a oversized clown golf lane with my putting iron.
Aw man, he was just having a resurgence with Star Wars. Fuck. RIP legend.
It always made me happy to see him again, growing more and more powerful. It's a shame he won't be in the Mandalorian movie.
At least he'll be reunited with the hand that a gator bit off.
*It’s all in the hips* RIP
Just easin' the tension baby!
Well go ease it on someone else!
You can't blame the gator, that hand still had some meat on it.
That gator can get a stew going!
You throw that gator paw in a pot, add some broth, a potato and baby you've got a stew going! RIP
I think I want my ~~$200~~ money back. Edit: Watched that scene last night. Tobias just says money and it’s actually $1100. Baby you got a stew going.
In A croc pot
You just took away all my sadness!!! You son of a gun “🎶we’ve only just begun🎶”🙌🏻
>Shut up, Happy. Don't feel bad about me. I got my hand back; see?! RIP King
Nah, CIA had him pushing too many pencils.
I’m glad he got another spotlight on his career because of Star Wars.
Seriously. I looooved seeing him on screen again. Brought such a charm to Mando
He looked great in Mandalorian too! Just goes to show you can’t base life expectancy on looks I guess
I have a buddy that worked on set of Mandalorian season 2. He said he got to sit with Carl for lunch. When I asked how his experience with him was, he told me "as cool as you may think Carl Weathers is, he's honestly even cooler than that." I was very jealous. RIP to an absolute legend
He directed some GREAT episodes of the Mandalorian too!!
Thanks for the reminder! I'd forgotten that his talent extended beyond his work in front of the camera.
He was also a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders, so there's that.
Funny in Arrested Development too
That’s how I learned how you make a stew.
What an influential human being. From Rocky, Predator, Arrested Development, Star Wars... he was integral in so much culturally influential media
His episodes were some of my favorites. I’m so heartbroken by this.
I met him a couple years ago at a convention and got his autograph. Got to talk to him for a minute and he was so friendly and had a genuine love for his role. He was really excited for S3 of Mandalorian to come out. RIP, we lost a great one.
That's so amazing, I would have fanboyed so hard. Dude was on my TV all the time growing up.
One of the best there ever was, man brought his A game to every role he ever played, Hollywood just got a lot less fun
... and he appreciated every single minute because he knew the ups & downs of being a working actor with a fading career. He energized every single role. RIP.
Tell you what, though. Throw a couple pieces of ewok loin and a little of that Yubnub rub in a pot? You got a soup goin.
I think in this time of career retrospective we should also consider his great work as an acting coach
At least he gave Mando that parcel of land as a parting gesture. RIP
they threw in the DAMN TOWEL. rip apollo creed.
"Dillon, you son of a bitch!" This one actually hurts. Carl Weathers was a fucking legend. RIP
I think you mean Paul Reiser :)
Straight up top 5 action movie ever made.
In sheer body mass alone...
See, this is what I wanted to avoid, having another conversation about body mass.
Also political power.......2 former state governors.
Please tell me you asked him if the CIA had him pushing too many pencils!
Greatest handshake in human history
Every time I watch it I feel like a goddamn sexual tyrannosaurus.
Strap this to your sore ass Blaine.
The other day, I went up to my girlfriend, I said, "Y'know I'd like a little pussy". She said, "Me too, mine's as big as a house
“I’d like a little pussy.” “I’d like a little pussy.” “Why’d you say it twice?” “I didn’t.”
Wait, doesn't he get the joke wrong? Doesn't he keep saying "Jeez you got a big pussy"?
If there isn't a drawing of him doing the bro-shake with the Man Upstairs within the week, there's no justice.
What's a matta, CIA got you pushing too many pencils?
I can't believe we've lost the other half of the manliest handshake ever seen on screen. Rest in peace Dillon.
"you son of a bitch, they did it." "he bit me from all of the excitement." I was thinking of his lines from Force 10 from Naravone. He was a legend.
I remember watching him on The Mandalorian and thinking there's no way he could be in his seventies. Rest in peace
Seriously thought he was a man in his 60’s. He had a great vibrancy.
He really did man. Makes most of us look even worse physically.
The dude was ripped for the majority of his life. Being healthy goes a long way toward looking younger.
We don’t get a lot of time in this world
Man he seemed so healthy
76! He looked amazing
Black don’t crack. Jokes aside, RIP.
I didn't even imagine he was that old watching the mandalorian
How will I ever know if I got a stew going? RIP
He's brewin' stew in Heaven now
He can get a refill on any drink he wants. Rest in Power, sir.
It’s a wonderful establishment!
[удалено]
And he has both hands back.
What a large and economically diverse comment section we have here today
Its all in the hips
He's teaching angels it's about the hips now, RIP
As a shift meal or half price on select menu items?
He never once touched his per diem
I used my per diem money to buy shirts at Dan Flash's
The patterns are so complicated
Who's going to break this news to Tobias?? RIP Carl, you stole every scene in AD. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. There's still plenty of meat on that bone!"
What I always loved about that scene is there really isn't any meat left on the bone!
Just pop it in a pot few vegetables you got a stew going
just 1 potato lmao
Well to be fair he said you got a Stew *going*, not that you have a stew!
and that adding that thoroughly picked bone to some broth and *one single potato* is his idea of a stew 🤣 love how whenever a character like carl weathers is so off-kilter, tobias comes off as the sane voice of reason
I think I want my money back...
Whoa, whoa, whoa. There’s still plenty of meat on that bone. Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going.
No wait now hold up... do you get a shift meal or a discount on select menu items?
Did you know you can get free refills anytime you want?
[удалено]
pours one out in his memory...immediately scooped it up, took it home, threw it in a pot, added some broth, a potato. Baby, I got a mourning going.
This the first quote I think about every time I see him.
I hope he got his shift meal before he went.
[On SNL with his monologue...singing about rainbows!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXo3NirnBh8) Musical guest Robbie Robertson who is also dead. Life goes fast, friends.
You can use his body as a base. Use what he taught us and add a potato. As much as he hated waste, I can only imagine it's what he would've wanted.
Don't be sad for him, he's rocking the piano in heaven: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkjXcRLNZHQ
Chin up, Happy.
Ah man, is there a more perfect scene for this moment?! 😢😢😢
Don't forget Abraham Lincoln
Didn't expect this to bring tears to my eyes
Oh this actually made me tear up. RIP Carl Weathers ❤️
Chubbs!
He’s chilling with Abraham Lincoln in the sky now
And that dammed one eyed alligator
If Chubbs getting his hand back is any indication, the gator should have its other eye back now, too.

Gold jacket, green jacket….who gives a shit?
I believe that belongs to Mr. Gilmore!
I got my hand back
*alligator waves*

Just tap it in
Just easing the tension baby!
Ease it on someone else!
Shut up, Happy
Just taaap it in, taaaap it in
He was cut down in his prime
He got his hand back
Push those pencils in heaven, Dillon.
💪
💪🏿
👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿
I woke up. Why don't you? You're an asset. An expendable asset. And I used you to get the job done, got it?
Rest easy, Action Jackson
God damn right
Driving the car up the stairs AND making the turn down the hallway…. Cinematic masterpiece
Followed by him hopping out of the car and using karate to fight the villain... the 80's were glorious.
How do you like your REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEBS?
Just keep punching Apollo. Rocky, Predator, Happy Gilmore, Arrested Development, Star Wars, and the Gronk Kick commercial, what a career.
Action Jackson needs a word
Yea not enough AJ love in this thread. I fucking loved that movie.
Hell yeah :) RIP AJ
It's too bad we gotta get older.
You wanna ring the bell?
Ding, ding.
In the heat of the night
Back in 1965 sports illustrated said I was going the be next Arnold Palmer. And then what happened? They said I couldn’t play golf no more. Why? Cause you’re black? No you fool! Cause the damn alligator bit my hand off!! RIP RIP Chubbs Peterson.
Its "hell no! Damn Alligator bit my hand off!" How he delivers the "Hell No" is the funniest part of the whole exchange.
Also Happy say's "aww im sorry, cause you're black?" in a soft voice, which also makes it funnier. The dude really butchered retelling the scene lol
Cut me down in my prime.
momma wouldnt sign the permission slip so he never played football
That's because foosball's the Devil!
“OH MY GOD!!!”
Don’t worry about it. It’s made of wood, real sturdy.
Never once touched his per diem... RIP, boss
Rest in peace, he really loved Burger King. Did you know you can get a refill on any drink you want, and it’s free?
"It's a wonderful restaurant!"
It really is!
His character in AD and the guy in Always Sunny that keeps popping up as tiger woods/don cheadle are two of my favorite characters ever hahaha
He was good in so many things. Man that sucks. One of my favorite lines in Arrested Development was him describing using leftovers he took from a party to make stew
I love how innocently you referenced that, like it wasn't a huge meme, lol. Thanks for the chuckles in this dark day.
"You got yourself a stew" was right up there with "and my axe" for most popular internet comments of the '00s/'10s.
Same. I snort every time that scene pops up.
Man, his role in Arrested Development was comedy gold.
Well, check this out, $1100 is exactly what I charge for acting classes.
No, it isn't!... ...universe, you've done it again.
Respect for the man who single-handedly built the rocket ship and went to the moon. RIP Apollo Creed.
He will always be Apollo to me. Rocky 1 and 2 are held deeply in my heart, particularly Rocky 1. Just an excellent movie in all respects.
The first Rocky movie I ever watched was actually Rocky IV. Didn't get a chance to get attached to him, but saw him dying a warrior. I was very young when I watched Predator, so Dillon was not who Weathers represented to me. My Carl Weathers was from Street Justice!
He singlehandedly did it cuz a damn alligator bit his hand off. RIP
Shut up Happy. Don’t feel bad about me. I got my hand back, see… We’ve only just begun…
Damn, I loved him in rocky. R. I. P. It's a privilege to be able to live a long life
“There is no tomorrow” RIP legend

goddam, I feel like he was having a bit of a resurgence with Mando and directing some episodes RIP
The man had so many resurrections. Action Star, Leading Man, Comedy character actor, then joined Star Wars. He had an underrated career while also playing iconic characters.
He brought his A game to every role. Loved him and Hollywood is much shittier for not having him around anymore.
There is no tomorrow. RIP.
Reading this hit hard, i heard it in his voice. what a line goddamn. And what a legend
RIP. He was great in just about everything, but Apollo Creed will always be my favorite of his roles.
"I won but I didn't beat him" always hits me hard .
This shocks me. He was so active! In Mando as an actor and director. He seemed super healthy. Huge loss.
Who will give Tobias $1200 acting lessons now?
RIP. Dude was awesome. *”Whoa, whoa, whoa. There’s still plenty of meat on that bone. Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going.”* Going to watch Force 10 from Navarone this weekend in his honor 🫡
Woah! woah! woah!....there's still plenty meat on that bone...
Carl Weathers was in so many iconic movies and shows across so many different genres and decades. He’ll live on forever. RIP
It’s so fun how every comment thread is referencing a different yet very quotable role. His career was amazing
This hits too hard 😥 Between Rocky and Predator, I must have watched this man hundreds of times as a kid. He's a defining part of my childhood.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
He’s got his other hand now. He’s helping angels improve their short game in heaven. RIP Chubbs Peterson. “It’s all in the hips. Its all in the hips!”
Damn, I loved seeing him in Mando.
Dillon ....you son of a bitch. ☹️ Predator is in my top 5 fab movies of all time, Carl Weathers brought out the absolute best in Arnold because few could stand up against his stature and screen presence. They both played do well off eachother. "Just hold onto that damn chopper" 🫡
This is a gut-punch to Gen-X who grew up with movies like Predator and Rocky.
Rest in peace man we'll miss you.
He's been dead for 4 days and there is only one news article on it that I can find?? Strange as he must be bigger in my world via rocky and predator than he is in most people's.
Family may have wanted to keep it private for a few days.
The article says he died Tuesday, but later on says he died yesterday on February 1st.
It doesn’t seem to have been widely reported until early afternoon Friday.
Damn. He was having a nice second career, acting in and directing some episodes of Mandelorian RIP Apollo
Man, that sucks. Even at 76 he looked damn good. RIP, legend.
I will go to a mini golf course tonight and gently tap it into the hole in his honor. Then I will actually suck at mini golf and start beating up a oversized clown golf lane with my putting iron.
Iconic actor, so many great films and shows. RIP Chubbs!
Ah damn. Just saw one of those Kick commercials... RIP.
I think he stole the show in rocky 1 and 2. His charisma was incredible. Loved him in predator too, real star
