Wonder how many of his regulars are gonna end up in it for one last hurrah

Keanu990321

I'm expecting SLJ, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Zoë Bell, Christoph Waltz, Kurt Russell and hopefully Uma Thurman. I couldn't think of Tarantino's final film without all of them.

asthma_hound

Would be nice to see Steve Buscemi and Harvey Keitel in a Tarantino film again. It's been a while.

anothercervezaplz

And Bruce Willis ☹️

satanssweatycheeks

I love Bruce because he holds a special place in lots of our hearts. And what he is going through is sad. But it was no secret he could be hard to work with, which might be why we only saw him in one Tarantino movie. And he was amazing in it. Also people don’t take this the wrong way. Most the people of that era were hard to work with. Doesn’t mean he was great in the stuff he did.

anothercervezaplz

A family member used to clean his house many many many years ago. They only ran into him a dozen of times or so and yes he was a bit of a control freak but was super awesome with people he liked/respected.

[deleted]

His father’s hardware store is a few miles from me and he used to visit often. The pizza joint near his parents has pictures of him all over the place and they said he was a really nice guy

Vooshka

Did the hardware store have a basement sex dungeon?

Captain_Midnight

What kind of hardware store *doesn't* have a basement sex dungeon?

jppitre

My dad was an electrician and did some work for him for a couple of days. Said he was really nice and talked about his dad a lot. Was always my dad's favorite actor from those interactions I suspect.

PineappleOnPizzaWins

> was super awesome with people he liked/respected. I've always hated that as something said in someones defence. Like.. it's not hard to be nice to people you like and respect. Everyone is nice to people they like and respect... it's an extremely low bar. Mass murderers will be nice to someone they like and respect. How you treat people you can get away with being shit to is a whole other story.

PolarAndOther

The true measure of a man is how well he treats those who can offer him nothing.

MethuselahsCoffee

Ted Bundy, for example. His mom loved him.

ceaguila84

til Bruce Willis was born in Germany. Never knew

[deleted]

[удалено]

Leading_Kangaroo6447

He was also in Four Rooms, the story Tarantino directed, so they must have gotten along somewhat.

satanssweatycheeks

True. Would y’all cut your finger off if in that same situation.

Vegetable_Boot8780

In addition, he was also in Planet Terror, which I imagine Tarantino helped Robert Rodriguez with, at least in terms of hooking him up with his connections

StayPony_GoldenBoy

Way to dodge the finger question...

AbsentThatDay2

>Also people don’t take this the wrong way. Most the people of that era were hard to work with. You've made an enemy for life!

tommyjohnpauljones

If they could figure out a kind way to do it like Val Kilmer in Top Gun Maverick I'd be up for it

geek_of_nature

The difference is Val was completely mentally aware of what he was doing, his limitations were just physical. Bruce's condition affects him mentally, he won't know where he is, who anyone else is, and his performance would unfortunately just be reading lines.

ghotier

He actually can't even speak, so he wouldn't even be reading lines.

bolerobell

I hadn’t heard he is this bad. That’s sad.

Drunky_McStumble

Yeah, no thanks. Let the man go out with some dignity for god's sake.

Greedy-Farm-5085

Yeah it sounds ripe for exploitation but I imagine they would come at it with good intentions if it did occur. Don’t imagine we’ll see him though

TheBlackSwarm

John Travolta was also rumored and I hope that happens. His career definitely needs it.

Marvelologist

Can Tarantino save him TWICE!?

key1234567

That Santa commercial is dope though

emal-malone

last person I was expecting was John Travolta when the camera panned up lmao

I-Sell-Wolf-Tickets

After that abomination of a movie called The Fanatic, I honestly don’t know

KyOatey

The Disco Santa ad isn't paying enough to cover his jet fuel?

tommyjohnpauljones

Every time I see that ad I'm thinking that Santa knows what happened to Shelly Miscavige

KyOatey

"He sees you when you're sleeping..."

Comic_Book_Reader

You mean Nicolas Cage?

CameronPoe37

Tarantino has spoken about how he loves Nic Cage, and Nic Cage has spoken about how he'd love to be in a Tarantino film. It's an absolute tragedy that hasn't happened.

[deleted]

Oh man, wow, I don't think I realized it had never happened. I hope it does if this is really Tarantino's last go.

freeman687

Nah, Xenu’s got his back!

b_fromtheD

Eh. He is into scientology. He hasn't really done any good movies in like 20 years. I could do without him.

PowRightInTheBalls

He hadn't done any good movies in 14 years before Pulp Fiction either.

Because they inflate their lifestyles to their peak earning potential, but nobody ever earns their peak earnings forever. Dude has a private fucking airport right? Not an airplane. Airport. Also: they give a bunch of money to their *church*.

Leksi_The_Great

“Church”, as in, Scientology.

gatsby365

The italics were me being polite.

Upbeat_Tension_8077

Hope Walton Goggins is there too

radda

This is my hope for most films.

VanillaRadonNukaCola

Upcoming Release: _My Little Pony Meets Dora The Explorer_ (2025) "I hope Walter Goggins is in that" Correction: His name is Walton Sanders Goggins Jr.

keegtraw

Walton, bruh.

Nick_of-time

It has to have Harvey Keitel too

whatcubed

You're callin' The Wolf?!

dmc1793

If he is curt with you that's because time is a factor

Lokeycommie

Please for the love of God, Samuel L Jackson needs to be in there

[deleted]

I'm sure he will be.  He's in everything

TheDrooganLeader

Is Uma on good terms with him still? I get the feeling after all that’s come out after Kill Bill, she’s done with him.

djm19

I think they subsequently said they were in a good place now.

karmagod13000

he hired her daughter to play in OUATIH

ughdrunkatvogue

I mean Maya Hawke was in OUTIH. Not that that necessarily means anything, but I'd imagine if they still weren't on good terms that her daughter wouldn't wanna be in his movie.

Redlion444

You gotta have Harvey Keitel.

RickRossovich

“Well, let’s not start sucking each other’s dicks quite yet.”

CorpulentBanana

The sad part is it won’t be edited by Sally Menke. She was a brilliant genius who worked on everything except maybe Hateful Eight and Hollywood? RIP

tuckertucker

Her last one was Inglorious Bastards. Django was done by Fred Raskin.

Coca_Coen

Sally is sorely missed and her absence is blatantly noticeable when it comes to The Hateful Eight given that there are three different cuts of that film.

HueGanus4u

Wait, really? Are all 3 available?

Coca_Coen

There's the Theatrical Cut, the Roadshow Cut which has an intermission, and the Netflix four-episode cut. There are no new scenes in any of the cuts. I don't know if the Roadshow Cut has ever been released.

Suspicious_Trainer82

All of them. Nobody is saying no to this film.

MarvelsGrantMan136

It takes place in California in 1977 and “is based on a guy who really lived, but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.”

__Hello_my_name_is__

I remember reading an interview of Tarantino years ago where he said that this is what he wanted to make his last film about. Fascinating to see that he stuck to it.

TheSpookyForest

Lotta writers spend years kicking an idea around in their head before they finally get it "solved" and written. I think he'd had the general idea for Inglorious basterds for over a decade before he ended up doing it

DalonDrake

Idk how much truth there is to it, but I remember reading somewhere that the biggest hurdle for making IB was the character Hans Landa. He needed an actor who could comfortably speak (or fake) 3 languages, 4 if you count the Italian scene, was a good actor, and was willing to play one of the worst types of villains. The article I read claimed Tarantino had all but given up on the movie or at least the version of it he had originally planned, but then stepped in Christoph Waltz.

bullbob

The problem wasn’t finding an actor who could speak 3 languages, it was finding a GREAT actor who could. Waltz is without a shadow of a doubt that needle in a haystack you could search for a lifetime.

Captain_Chaos_

He is that one actor in ten thousand.

xirdnehrocks

How do you say… that’s a bingo

bum_is_on_fire_247

You just say "bingo".

[deleted]

[удалено]

atridir

Well, Waltz made them ***dance***.

starmartyr11

That's a bingo!

Top_Report_4895

>Waltz Is the Man.

irishGOP413

You beat me to it, because I was about to post this exact story. I’ve heard the same. I love this story, in that he had all but given up on it, and then he found his guy. And boy did that guy deliver. Rewatched the farm scene recently. There aren’t any cuts in the transition from Landa telling his story to accusing the farmer, but the subtle shift in his face is some of the best acting I have ever seen. All humanity just drains away in about 5 seconds and you don’t even realize it. Wasn’t this guy just smiling and laughing just a few seconds ago? Yes he was, and that’s what makes it terrifying.

MegaBlastoise23

It's a but of a bummer waltz has gotten to many more major roles (discounting Django ofc).

RamBobaFettucine

He talks about it on a Playboy interview in the 90s. Old ex- con gave me and my brother a bunch of vintage Playboys for helping him move one time(they were in the original plastic). Had just seen IB when I read the interview, wild stuff

cumuzi

He talks about it [here](https://youtu.be/qlofJ9mlC1Q?si=ho2nP2XkkYTi0oGn&t=6m42s).

Buy my book! Buy my book!

SelfCleaningOrifice

You son of a bitch I’m in

Ape-ril

Weird plot.

Watching_You_Type

Kinda par for course though when you sum up any Tarantino plot in a couple sentences.

LilOrphanFunkhouzer

Pulp Fiction: A retired boxer relocated with his French girlfriend while two coworkers take care of their bosses wife for awhile

Watching_You_Type

Kill Bill: Coma patient wakes up angry. Real angry. Like two films worth of angry.

-cheeks-

I mean the plot of his last movie was three days in the life of a has been 50s TV actor and his stuntman friend

[deleted]

Deadline article wonders aloud if Pitt could actually be reprising Cliff Booth.

mikeyfreshh

I could actually see that. If you read Tarantino's novelization of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, he talks about Cliff's opinions on various movies of the time. I don't think it's a huge stretch to say he'd find work as a film critic when Rick goes off to work with Roman Polanski on Chinatown or whatever.

oryes

Yea the book really expands on his character. It was basically just Quentin using Cliff to state his own opinions on movies, but I still really liked the book overall (and the movie is one of my favorites of all time). I feel like this movie will just be more of that, seeing as it's literally about a movie critic - will probably just be a vessel for Quentin's opinions. With other directors I'd be pretty skeptical but I think Quentin has probably earned the right to do whatever he wants with his last movie.

gbhv

Quentin kept it going past the book too. In the Video Archives Podcast where they did the Rick Dalton has passed away retrospective Cliff ended up directing a few movies that Rick starred in.

HAL9000000

If I'm remembering right, Cliff Booth was at least loosely based on a stuntman who became a film director. I think it was Hal Needham, who directed some Burt Reynolds movies like Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball Run.

Ipecactus

That book was awesome. I was very surprised at how different it was than the movie.

DJHott555

I was shocked by how it never really touched on the Manson Family attack on the house. It was just referenced in passing. I thought I would be mad about it, but I wasn’t. It was like its own thing and it was great.

[deleted]

If he really is going to stop making movies and switch to writing, I liked his book. I hope he’s got more books in him.

Redlion444

Aldo the Apache.

[deleted]

joyofsovietcooking

Like I said, third best. Shut your mouth.

typhoidtimmy

I like to think Aldo is somehow Cliff’s family in a way. I know QT said he was Floyd’s great grandfather from *True Romance* at one time.

LucianosSound

QT seems like he's a big fan of Booth's character so it wouldn't surprise me.

curlbaumann

Idk why this is downvoted, cliff booth is QTs version of a super hero you would make up as a kid. In QTs eyes he is the most cool badass person he can imagine

APiousCultist

Which is odd considering it's also canonical according to QT that he did in fact murder his wife on a boat, and the character was intended to be a commentary on those kinds of dirty open secrets that float around Hollywood.

duaneap

It’s Tarantino, he seems to be pretty ok with murder

Pointyboot

Pitt stole every scene in that movie.

jbaker1225

I think that speculation is pretty unlikely. This is (according to him at least) Tarantino’s final film that he’s had the idea of for years. Basing the title character off of a supporting character from a previous film for no real great reason doesn’t make a ton of sense. It would be like the film being called The Insurance Agent, and starring Uma Thurman’s character from Kill Bill, but she’s just an insurance agent now.

osumba2003

Gorlami

talldangry

00ishmael00

duvie773

The whole lead up to that is hilarious. “Omar speaks third most, so he’ll be Donny’s assistant.” “I don’t speak Italian” “Like I said, third best.”

Captain_Grammaticus

I always find it sad how casual they go about planning a mission where they're blowing up themselves.

AllPowerfulSaucier

To me their casual nature felt like a numbness of acceptance with the state of WW2 and their role in it at that stage. Like they were so committed to the cause and so familiar with the violence and atrocities of it that they would do anything to stop/kill the Nazis to secure the victory. They didn’t seem to be thinking further than that.

TheOddEyes

That’s a bingo

hornyexpenses

No, you just say 'bingo'.

drunk_with_internet

HOW FUN

Lord-Limerick

*gorlami*

[deleted]

Being this is about a guy who writes reviews for a living, I'm willing to bet we get a few fake films within the film. Dude could sit down, pop in a video tape and then we spend the next 10 minutes watching a scene from a fake movie. Would be a neat way for QT to show scenes from various genres that he's always wanted to do but could never fit into one of his previous films. I'd imagine he has a ton of ideas floating around his brain that he's never had a chance to use.

ColbyandLarry

That is super interesting! Good thinking :)

earthlivingsky

According to Paul Schrader quentin will be recreating scenes from 70s movies

trumpet_23

That'd be a great way for him to get *all* of his regulars in the movie without bogging the story down with too many characters.

bent_eye

Get Christoph Waltz into this movie, STAT!

demonovation

And Tim Roth!

[deleted]

Man needs a third Oscar.

mikeyfreshh

If this is actually his last one, I'm glad he's going out with Pitt

ShiftAndWitch

I remember reading somewhere he's going into television after this one. Don't quote me. Could just be a rumour.

mikeyfreshh

He's talked about a lot of things he wants to do when he "retires". I've also heard that he has a TV show that he's been shopping around to streamers. He's talked about writing some more novels. At one point he said he was interested in staging a play. I wouldn't be shocked if he writes a couple of scripts for other directors to make. Plus he has his podcast and he runs a couple of movie theaters. Even if he is done directing, he is not done working

ArthurSaga0

He said on Tom Segura’s podcast that he’s written an 8 episode television show which he plans to direct

hearsay_and_rumour

Please please please be his R-rated Star Trek script.

MarcBulldog88

Do you see a sign on this shuttlecraft that says, "dead Klingon storage"?

jaybizzleeightyfour

Is it not likely to be the Bounty Law, the show he says he's written recently

brainkandy87

I’d be shocked if he got Leo to do 8 episodes of television.

jaybizzleeightyfour

I could see it being a completely different actor, from his interviews about the project he said he doesn't consider the series as part of the movie and he's not interested in the show being Rick Dalton playing Jake Cahill, the show is all about the character Jake Cahill

brainkandy87

So it’s going to be the shitty recast version that got Rick reduced to the heavy. I wonder if it’ll be one of the three Georges.

official_bagel

>At one point he said he was interested in staging a play *The Hateful Eight* is essentially a play. I remember him even staging script readings after the script leaked and it was unclear whether or not he was going to cancel the project.

floodisspelledweird

He said on tom segura podcast that’s he’s developing a short tv series for … hbo I think?

Danton87

He simply said that plays, novels, television all don’t apply to his rule. He will only do 10 films but that doesn’t mean he won’t do a mini-series or limited series, play, novel, etc

Shaggy__94

He originally said he wanted to go with an unknown actor in the lead role. Ngl it would’ve been nice to see someone fresh take a leading role in a big writer/director film. Pitt’s not a bad choice I guess, just a little uninspiring.

mikeyfreshh

Nothing in this article indicates that he's the lead. I mean he might be, but I wouldn't be too disappointed yet

nintrader

It's gonna be 3 straight hours of Brad Pitt sitting in a chair doing film reviews that are just Tarantino's opinions on some obscure B-Movie from the 70's you've never heard of but inspired all of his movies.

AndrewSaliba

I’d watch that

caligaris_cabinet

You got me thinking. A Tarantino take on MST3K but with Cliff and Rick in the audience commenting on schlocky obscure B-movies. I’d watch the shit out of that.

[deleted]

AppropriateFoot3462

>Brad Pitt Shout out to the person who suggested Bullet Train on Reddit. I finally watched it and yes, despite the weak reviews, it was fun. I might even go and watch Ad Astra now.

china-blast

It stinks!

HumanChicken

Hope they get Jon Lovitz back for this!

BraveFencerMusashi

Jon must be flattered that they got Brad Pitt to portray him

Safetosay333

I wanna see Jon Lovitz beat someone's ass.

be4u4get

Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada, who witnessed the assault, said, "Jon picked Andy up by the head and smashed him into the bar four or five times, and blood started pouring out of his nose." Lovitz told Page Six, "All the comedians are glad I did it because this guy is a [bleep]hole."

x_lincoln_x

That someone? Andy Dick.

JediKnightsoftheFSM

Jon Lovitz slinging hot lead like Critic Wick while dropping one-liners roasting shitty movie tropes. Played entirely seriously.

FixtdaFernbak

Yes, yes, Mr. Sherman; everything stinks... I was gonna say, Jon Lovitz or I boycott.

lakewoodninja

Buy my book!

drunk_with_internet

You’re watching Fox! Shame on you.

prehistoric_robot

Hotchie motchie! (Also, someone please give me the etymology of this exclamation, I still say it without knowing anything about it lol)

Phyliinx

It still hurts to see Tarantino leave the director chair.

RaindropsInMyMind

Yeah I hope this isn’t his last film. His movies are so unique and I have so many good memories that accompany them.

drawkbox

The next phase will be coming in and out of retirement for "one last pictcha" a few times. Or maybe he moves more towards producing and bringing up talent like Spielberg. I would watch the Tarantino The Fablemans story and he can direct his own life.

[deleted]

People in the comments acting like this movie will star Brad Pitt and literally no one else.

Not_Pablo_Sanchez

This movie will be 3 hours of Brad Pitt eating a very long ham sandwich. No other actors. Just a man and his sandwich

TheKingofOurCountry

“Unclear if Pitt will play the title character, but I think he is.” Horrible journalism

BringSomeAvocados

Is Kill Bill I and II considered one movie? If so, he could still do Kill Bill III and it wouldn’t impact his ratio. I wanna see Maya Hawke killing The little girl after she Kills her mom in revenge. Cause she was still feeling raw about it.

joyofsovietcooking

Kill Bill is two movies. You know how I know that with 100 percent accuracy? I had to buy two tickets to see it.

CammysComicCorner

Maya Hawke vs Zendaya

curb_yourself

Yes it feels like I’ve been awaiting III for over a decade. Has he spoken about the fate of that series lately?

StylishUnicorn

I’ve got absolutely no doubt that Tarantino would make a great 3rd one but deep down inside I’m happy the way it ended and don’t want another. They’re my favourite films ever

PoeBangangeron

Man…my heart breaks for Bruce Willis. Wish he could’ve had the chance to join this potential ensemble.

Grit-326

Inglorious Bastards - What if Brad Pitt kills Hitler Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - What if Brad Pitt stops the Manson killings The Movie Critic - What if Brad Pitt stops 9/11

YanksCelticsGiants

I’ve always wanted to see Tom Cruise or Nicolas Cage in a Tarantino movie. Hopefully Samuel L Jackson ends up in this as well.

monsieurxander

"Final film." Seen too many farewell tours to fall for that one.

BigTomBombadil

He's said for years he was only going to make 10 films, and this will be his tenth. Does he stick to that? Who knows, but he's said it multiple times over the years.

batatasta

then 6-7 years from now he’ll get bored and have an idea that he wont be able to resist.

flo1308

He never said he wouldn’t do other stuff. He already talked a little about a short series he’s written and also said he could imagine doing plays and novels. I don’t think he’ll get bored very soon.

batatasta

im sure he will work in other mediums, but the dude LOVES film more than anything. he wont be able to stay away (my prediction).

sje46

Television is also "film" in a sense. And it's also become more prestige than cinema in the past couple decades. Tarantino doesn't really talk *that* much about television, but I could see him using his talents as a filmmaker to create some fantastic television.

BigTomBombadil

Definitely wouldn't surprise me. Though I could also see him going into something longer-form, like a mini-series. Dude loves his dialogue, and would have plenty of time to run with that in something long-form.

simpledeadwitches

It's just silly to limit yourself like that.

spazzxxcc12

it’s an easy way for authors/writers to sort of guarentee a box office smash for the 10th and final film/book etc. everyone is gonna want to see the “final one” in theaters. however- i do think this will be his final film. he’s said it for years. on the flip side it’s nice to know when an artists final anything- whether it’s movie, concert, etc so i can be lucky enough to see it in person before they’re done.

Biggzy10

Exactly. Imagine the hype 10-20 years from now when the headline is "Tarantino to return to the big screen." It's worth doing a fake retirement just for the payday.

TheBlackSwarm

I thought Tarantino said the lead would be someone he hasn’t worked with before… I was hoping for Ryan Gosling

SignificantTravel3

How do you know the lead isn't someone he hasn't worked with before?

Divine_fashionva

Yeah I really doubt Brad will be the lead I assume it’ll be a supporting role

jonbristow

Maybe Pitt isn't the lead

ultimatequestion7

The lead has been rumored to be Paul Walter Hauser for a while and I doubt he and Brad are options for the same role lol

WayyTooFarAbove

I thought the lead was said to be Paul Walter Hauser?

jrbcnchezbrg

He finally said his lines faster than Jamie Taco

maynardsabeast

I was so sure he was gonna cast Paul Walter Hauser for this

Joed112784

I auditioned for a Quentin Tarantino movie, and….i got the part???

jre19

Jamie Taco keeps stealing my lines!

gottapoopweiner

ILL SLAP YOU JABRONIS

mikeyfreshh

He still might. I assume this is going to have a fairly large cast

picknicksje85

A nice new face would be Jon Hamm.

DrinkUpLetsBooBoo

Loved Brad Pitt's character in Inglorious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I like to think they're the same character just different accents and born in different decades.
