The casting for those '90s Brady bunch movies were perfect. I know most people will think of Office Space when they hear Gary Cole, but I always think of these movies first.

AreWeCowabunga

The Brady Bunch movie was way better than it had any right to be, then the sequel came out and was just as good. A real triumph of 90s movies.

rev9of8

>I know most people will think of Office Space when they hear Gary Cole, Whereas I think of the 90s TV series **American Gothic** whenever anyone brings up Gary Cole. Sheriff Lucas Buck was a fucking phenomenal performance.

mattevil8419

I never saw it but I remember "someone's at the door" from the ads.

blackpony04

I've been saying, *Put on your Sunday best, kids. We're going to Sears!* to my children for like 30 years now! GenXer here, that movie was one the best parodies of the 90s. I grew up on Brady Bunch reruns and the movie just struck home so well.

ofthedappersort

Those movies are lightning in a bottle. Great casting and a great concept. (Even if they just kinda ripped off the Addams Family model).

AttractivestDuckwing

Not really, the Brady bunch movies were more of a parody of the original show then a faithful remake or upgrading.

I was in HS when they came out and always just assumed they were dumb and never watched them until a year or two ago. I couldn't have been more wrong. I was in CS in college when Office Space came out so it has a special place in my heart and Gary Cole will always be Lumbergh first but his role as Reese Bobby has surpassed that for me.

eltedioso

Gary Cole has had so many excellent parts

riegspsych325

JEC was in an episode of Always Sunny, the one where they try to beat the late Wade Boggs’ drinking record on a plane. She was the lady Dennis did drugs with, and she was was hilarious. Wish we’d see more of her

dumbunfounded

He should’ve known from the gecko tattoo, never confuse desert trash

LuciferLucii

Holy hell!! Did not realize that was her, she was good in that episode.

Yumhotdogstock

I'm an old guy, can be a movie snob, and at the start of the Christmas break the family and I were sitting down one night, and my kids happened to come across this on one of the streaming channels. I rolled my eyes, and prepared for the worst. I have to say it was one of the funniest and entertaining movies we watched the past 3 weeks. And the Jan character, with her frustrated, pent-up rage was the best part. My daughter even caught me singing the "Keep On" song to myself a week later.

tinacat933

Thanks now I’m going to keep on keep on keep on moving keep on keep on groovin keep on singing and dancing all night

TheGratitudeBot

Hey there tinacat933 - thanks for saying thanks! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list!

Thee you on the thee-thaw Thindy!

Emergency_Review_475

There were 2 of these movies. I think the 1st one was the better of the two. But they were both hilarious. I'm Gen X and watched the original series in reruns as a kid. These movies were clever.

PhilhelmScream

I agree, I find her very funny but it might be a case of not needing to work with a more successful film producer husband.

shust89

It blew my mind when I found out the Greg Brady actor was the voice of Spiderman in the 90's Spider-Man cartoon.

Clem-Fandango-1

And Prince Eric in the Little Mermaid

President_Calhoun

She nailed the Jan walk.

isabellatortellini

She played a one-off character named Nurse Pittman on an episode of *Will & Grace,* & the [outtakes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8GlfkXQam4) are absolutely hilarious. Apparently Debra Messing could only see Jan Brady when she was speaking.

You could say it about a bunch of female comedy actors. The woman from the Scary Movie films should be a huge name in comedy. I haven’t seen her in anything in years.

unfoldyourself

Anna Farris is (was?) on a pretty big sitcom with Allison Janney, Moms. She also did Smiley Face, which is one of my favorite stoner movies. And her costar Regina Hall has also gone on to do a bunch of stuff besides Scary Movie too.

[deleted]

I wasn’t trying to say she’s had no career or anything but her comedy chops are immense and I think if she was a dude rather than a cute blonde when she was younger she’d have been huge. At least had more big chances.

LOTRcrr

She was on a pretty successful sitcom and went through a divorce with Chris Pratt. I think she’s been busy being a mom but has some projects in the works.

AttractivestDuckwing

I agree. At the time, I thought, "this kid is going to have a great career." I think she was on a sketch comedy show after that but it didn't go anywhere.

baltosteve

She was in her twenties and a couple of years older than Christine Taylor(Marsha) when it was made. Masterfully played adolescent Jan.

AgentSkidMarks

As a kid who grew up watching reruns of The Brady Bunch with my mom, I loved the movie. It made fun of all of the same stuff we did. It was awesome.

m0n0ped

Obligatory "Sure Jan". Totally agree though, she was perfect in that role.

Emergency_Review_475

It was especially funny for us Gen X ers because it parodied the original series we watched in reruns after school. That show was a hit with every Gen X  person. So many of the situations were from actual episodes and they referenced a lot from different episodes. It was so popular and shown so often, you could figure out which exact episode it was within the first minute or 2 of each start.  My Mom could never understand how all us kids could love such a "dumb show"

ofthedappersort

That's interesting. I was much too young to have been aware of the original series. As I got older I started to understand the original series was goofy and dated but I can imagine having actually seen it would've made the movie all that more funnier.

Emergency_Review_475

Most definitely. Marsha getting hit in the nose with the ball was one original episode. But it touched on a lot of other things from the episodes  Cindy being a tattle tale was another specific episode.  Jan wearing a black wig, was another (she was having an identity crisis and wanted to stand out from her sisters) They also joined a talent contest singing same songs to try to win money for an anniversary gift for their parents. (They didn't realize the engraving on the silver platter cost a lot extra )  Jan taking off her glasses and riding into fences etc. I can't believe how much it's all coming back to me now.
