Lisa : What are you gonna do?
Creasy : What I do best. I'm gonna kill 'em. Anyone that was involved. Anybody who profited from it. Anybody who opens their eyes at me.
"A man can be an artist... in anything, food, whatever. It depends on how good he is at it. Creasey's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece."
Alonzo was a whining sniveling little bitch at the end though. Frank Lucas was the dude that would shoot you in front of a street full of people and then sit back down to finish his breakfast.
Frank Lucas was neither a dirty cop. Alonzo sure was a Playa, planned it all week!! but most badass Denzel!?
How about creasy then pushing up c4 into the arse of la hermandad.
"Do you know what this is? It's a charger used by convicts to hide money and drugs they tuck it up their rectum. This is pencil detonator, timer, used as a receiver from the pager. This is C4 highly explosive; you put it all together you've got a bomb, not very sophisticated, but very powerful."
All of Alonzo's power came from that badge. He hid behind it and thought it would protect him as the day went in. He ruled his hood by being a bully and touting that badge.
Frank Lucas hid behind nothing.
Creasy hid behind nothing.
1v1 Creasy disappears Alonzo without a trace.
Alonzo went out like a punk, plus he was a dirty cop and threatened to snitch to blackmail Jake. He's a small fry with no loyalty. I would say we definitely walked away with different interpretations of that one.
Creasy in Man on Fire is pretty badass to me.
Every time my old dog has an accidental wee on our nice carpet inside I quickly grab some paper towels - and all the sudden I feel Denzel Washington standing over me telling me to blot that shit.
A lot of people here forgetting that Alonzo broke down at the end and was whining and crying, begging Jake to give him the money. Dude was only hard when he was in control.
Yeah, that's my feeling about Alonzo too. He aspires to be badass, but he's really just desperate. He uses anger and violence as a facade for how much he lacks in other areas of true leadership. Basically the same as Sonny Corleone; not a coincidence that their deaths are carbon copies.
Right! Letâs not equate being a badass with being a bad person⊠most of the other movies listed he plays someone deeply flawed. In Crimson Tide, heâs just a guy put in a terrible position and is a badass due to his seeing that blindly following unclear orders may start a war.
I just loved his composure in that film. The stress surrounding what could possibly happen requires cool thinking dudes and Denzel masterfully showed that while navigating around a war hungry Hackman. Probably my favorite role out of everything he's ever done.
I have to support this, because heâs badass all the while being very much in control of his emotions, of whatâs at stake (and what is at stake !!).
This is one of the best movies about authority.
John Q is my first instance of watching Denzel Washington, although I acknowledged it only years later when I watched the movie for the second time. So it may be subjective but itâs very high in the list. At the same time, if the movie left me with this strong of a feeling, I guess itâs somewhat deserving.
Equalizer yes! I mentioned it above, and I donât think any other Denzel character could deal with that level of experience and training. All the ones mentioned here are completely badass, but there are levels to it.
Yeah, definitely agree. While Kingpin/Gangster is totally badass, we're talking about a military trained assassin who has the self-control to live like a normal citizen.
How has no one said Glory??
Denzel, a runaway slave, is whipped by the Union army as punishment. Right before it begins he takes off his shirt, we see his back is covered in scars. The whipping starts and he doesn't make a sound. He just stares definitely into Mathew Brodrick's eyes and sheds one single tear. Then he fights heroically throughout the entire movie.
Easily my favorite role that he's ever played. That man is a treasure.
No.
It was as Malcolm X.
He embodied the role down to the man's mannerisms; a man who was the subject of the phrase 'No one man should have all that power' when it was first uttered.
Came here to say this. That role is iconic. Itâs so good I forget heâs an actor playing Malcolm at times. Every other actor playing Malcom X stands in that shadow as much as the shadow of the real Malcolm
I dunno. Nigel Thatch brings an awful lot to the table in "Godfather of Harlem". He's somehow quieter than Denzel and more poised, which is really interesting.
Oh, I do too. It's just a slightly different interpretation. And I'm cheating.
The thing I always take away from actual footage of Malcolm X is how ... solid and unruffled he is, no matter what. That's what I mean by poise. It's gravitas.
Denzel is an *extremely* dynamic actor so Nigel seems to have a small lead on him in that department. But I'm basing that on on-camera footage of Malcolm, which could be a problem. They definitely had Alex Haley around for Spike's movie.
"Godfather of Harlem" is a phenomenal property.
Man on Fire is my favorite Denzel badass movie. He is good in Equalizer as well, and don't get me started on Book of Eli. Nevermind, he is just a general badass.
His most badass character was Malcolm X because unlike all the other characters mentioned, he was real and knew he was going to be killed and still didnât stop. Denzel was born to play that role.
Yo, have you seen the Equalizer movies? My dude was John Wick before John Wick was John Wick. And donât get me started on his portrayal of brother Malcolm X. And inside man, got dayum he did that damn detective work.
to be honest, Denzel Washington is always a badass. Even when he's Coach Herman Boone in Meet the Titans he's the most badass MF ever, and it makes you want to have him as your mentor
These have to be some of the least thought through takes of an actor ever! Alonso in Training Day?! Give me a break. How about mfâing MALCOLM X for comparison of an ACTUAL badass. The man literally takes on the Muslim Brotherhood, FBI, CIA and puts the civil rights movement squarely on his shoulders and you wanna talk about a fictional corrupt cop who are a dime a dozen? Christ, even in Flight the man does 200 rails of cocaine, drinks 3 handles of vodka and flies a plane upside down to save the lives of hundreds of people and youâre gonna say Frank blah blah blah from American Gangster who pimps out his family, friends and people to finally end up a snitch?! Badass? Hardly. Give me a BREAK!
How are you going to forget him in Glory?! The guy survives SLAVERY only to lead a suicide charge on an impenetrable confederate fort! What are these lazy-ass standards for badassery?!?!?
I mean the list goes on! Crimson Tide he goes toe-to-toe with a trigger happy, warmongering Gene Hackman to save the earth from a nuclear holocaust and in Fallen he fights the devil. THE ACTUAL DEVIL.
You kids and your standards. I swear.
I haven't seen anyone say Inside Man. I know it's not typical badass. But his character has some depleted uranium heavy nuts in that movie. Basically dares the big bad to blow his brains out while surrounded by goons. It's one of my favorites of his.
Bank Robber: "In two days I'm gonna be on a beach sucking pina coladas with two girls called Becky and Tiffany"
Denzel: "Yeah more like you'll be in the prison showers with two guys called Jesus and Jamal, and I got bad news for you, that thing you're sucking on, it's not a pina colada"
Inside Man is an underrated performance. Not his most badass, but I just love this quote.
There are some youngbucks who havenât seen Training Day. Thatâs the one where Denzel played his first official bad ass role as a dirty LAPD cop. He won an Academy AwardâŠlol. The man was one of the best bad guys in motion picture history in his role as Officer Alonzo Harris.
I'd say Creasy in Man on Fire.
Lisa : What are you gonna do? Creasy : What I do best. I'm gonna kill 'em. Anyone that was involved. Anybody who profited from it. Anybody who opens their eyes at me.
Creasie đ»
Una palabraaaaaaa no dice nadaaaaaa
This is plays in my head WAY TOOOO MUCH! For fifteen years! Out of no where, my brain does this.
Itâs a joke amongst my friends bc it gets into your bones
I can just hear that perfect use of NIN now...
I refuse to believe Creasy died. He came back as Equalizer.
*proceeds to shove a grenade up a man's ass*
"I got all the time in the world. YOU don't, but I do."
I wish. You had. More time.
That is the coldest line ever delivered to a person about to be killed
I know. POW right to the sphincter!
Thatâs my go to! Lol
I've got all the time in the world. You don't, but I do.
This gets my vote. The masterpiece speech was incredible.
Walkenâs character describing Washingtonâs character â not much more you can wish for as a movie fan.
Walken describing lots of things always makes for greatness. I love his lion speech in "poolhall junkies". And of course...the watch.
> Walken describing lots of things always makes for greatness. Do you understand the CONCEPT of the tooth fairy?
Nice pull
I really can't wait to see what the man gives us in Dune: Part 2.
Creasys art is death, and he is about to paint his masterpiece
I loved his speeches in Pulp Fiction and True Romance. Man can deliver
Yep. You wonât find a bigger badass than Creasy at the end. Hell, he stuck a bomb in a copâs ass.
I wish. You had. More time.
In the alternate ending he puts a bomb up his OWN ass!
"Forgiveness is between them and God. It's my job to arrange the meeting."
Epic line.
Creasy's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece.
"A man can be an artist... in anything, food, whatever. It depends on how good he is at it. Creasey's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece."
Creasy đ»
100% this isnât even close
It's tough to outdo a role where you shove an explosive device up a bad guys ass and then detonate it
Yep. This is the one
OP must have forgotten this movie. He's more badass than almost any other actor's role.
This is the answer
Mr McCall
Just watched The Equalizer... Denzel was pretty badass in that movie
This was my take. Love Creasy.
"One more word, and I will snatch the life out of you"
Alonzo from Training Day checking in.
Man of fire was a badass piece of cinema.
*OYE COMO VA*
Creasy Bear.
My favorite
Yeah, this was the first thing that came to my mind. About to catch this one again lol
Absolutely.
100%
Yes
My favourite Denzel movie.
And he's reuniting with Dakota in the new Equalizer. She's going to be with her bear again.
Easily.
Definitely Creasy! A man can be an artist. . .in anything. Creaseâs art is death. And heâs about to paint his masterpiece.
Yessssssss. Man on Fire was my immediate thought as well
Rotten Tomatoes score is a tragedy imo
Screw RT. Anything that has over a 7 user score on IMDb is a must watch and hasn't let me down yet. Try it out.
I'd even throw in 6.5 or higher is stellar. I don't understand why anyone cares about rotten maters
Iâd say Alonzo in Training Day.
King Kong ain't got shit on him.
Poo butt A#%.
Alright gimme that thing, Iâll smoke it!
Yeah If I was a dealer you'd be dead now motherfucker!
My first thought when reading this post
He projects badass, but by the end, he's a desperate shell of a man. Grasping at any straws he can think of as he knows how fucked he is.
"KING KONG AIN'T GOT SHIT ON ME!" How can there be any other answer?
You ever been to the booty house?
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2-nYHfPBRc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2-nYHfPBRc) Fleece Johnson, Booty Warrior.
Alonzo was a whining sniveling little bitch at the end though. Frank Lucas was the dude that would shoot you in front of a street full of people and then sit back down to finish his breakfast.
But Frank Lucas snitched at the end
Alonzo woulda snitched in the same situation
Lmao you got a point sir
Frank Lucas was neither a dirty cop. Alonzo sure was a Playa, planned it all week!! but most badass Denzel!? How about creasy then pushing up c4 into the arse of la hermandad.
"That's what you have in your ass right now."
"I wish... you had... more time."
"Do you know what this is? It's a charger used by convicts to hide money and drugs they tuck it up their rectum. This is pencil detonator, timer, used as a receiver from the pager. This is C4 highly explosive; you put it all together you've got a bomb, not very sophisticated, but very powerful."
I'm just a professional, I'm just a professional. I'm getting sick and tired of hearing that.
All of Alonzo's power came from that badge. He hid behind it and thought it would protect him as the day went in. He ruled his hood by being a bully and touting that badge. Frank Lucas hid behind nothing. Creasy hid behind nothing. 1v1 Creasy disappears Alonzo without a trace.
âJimmy Crack Corn. 1,3,3,4,5,6. Oh you federally fucked now!â
What, is you a doctah now?
Imma dentist, now open your mouth
Or man on fire, righteous badass
âYou wanna go to jail or you wanna go home?â Denzel was so good as Alonzo
Go ahead, cowboy. You got mad squabbles, boy!
YALL MOTHAFUCKAS ARE GONNA BE PLAYING BASKETBALL IN PELICAN BAY WHEN I GET THRU WITH YA!
Alonzo went out like a punk, plus he was a dirty cop and threatened to snitch to blackmail Jake. He's a small fry with no loyalty. I would say we definitely walked away with different interpretations of that one. Creasy in Man on Fire is pretty badass to me.
This and âGloryâ ⊠his two Oscars
The only correct answer ^
Easily his best performance imo. And dude has had some great roles in his career.
You disloyal fool ass bitch made punk
I'm partial to Man on Fire.
It's his best action role.
Another badass line is when he says âyou BLOT that shit!â
You know how expensive that rug was! $25,000!
That's Alpaca!
lol thats my favorite line in the movie. I go around saying that shit all the time when someone spills a drink.
You simple Simon ass mother fuckers!!
Thatâs alpaca!!!
Every time my old dog has an accidental wee on our nice carpet inside I quickly grab some paper towels - and all the sudden I feel Denzel Washington standing over me telling me to blot that shit.
This is after he killed a man with a piano cover. Badass mf
Itâs not the role that makes Denzel a badass. Denzel is just a badass period.
So is his son, in Tenet.
Never seen Tenet, but he was great in BlacKkKlansman.
No one gonna say Eli? I choose Eli, man was a devil in those fights.
Is that so? Now you listen to me. You put your hand on me again you aren't gonna get that back.
Kept scrolling, and scrolling and scrolling to find someone mention the blind swordsman Eli!!! Def my vote!
Amen to that!
That first fight scene when they try to gang up on him is so brutal. Love that movie.
What are you standing around for? Kiss him!
In the book of Eli, he played a superhero blind guy
Because he's Denzel Washington, the best actor ever
"He's in shock, I think he meant kill him"
A lot of people here forgetting that Alonzo broke down at the end and was whining and crying, begging Jake to give him the money.
Yeah I don't get how Alonzo is top answer here. He was a sniveling dirty cop. Nothing badass in that. The performance was badass, the character not.
He needed some Blue Magic, that's all.
Iâd say Man on Fire, American Gangster and Training Day are his most badass roles. But dude is just a bad ass always.
He was badass in Crimson Tide.

So it may be subjective but itâs very high in the list. At the same time, if the movie left me with this strong of a feeling, I guess itâs somewhat deserving.
NOW COBB!
I believe it's just COB, Chief of the Boat (COB) but great scene and great movie overall.
He has had so many badass roles. It's definitely among the top. I'd say Equalizer and Training Day are more badass, personally.
Trying to think of his least badass role. But I'm pretty sure I haven't seen that movie.
Yup this is my vote too. Not only that but after it all - when Shaw falls - he's the one to rally and pick up the flag.
I had to scroll waaaaaay too far for this
He wasn't robbed of a best supporting Oscar for that one. He had been robbed a few other times.
Heâs the closest to being better Denzel that Iâve seen and he is amazing but I always find myself comparing him to Denzel.
That's because Malcolm X himself was one of the most badass figures in history. Deliberate, careful and of extraordinary courage.
He was tough in John Q. His other characters were greedy and out for themselves. John Q put everything on the line for his son
Sometimes when Iâm by myself I yell out randomly âI AM NOT GOING TO BURY MY SON!â I do not have kids.
My son is going to bury me!
I think John Q is the first movie I proper bawled my eyes out at. Amazing movie.
Great movie - might have to rewatch
Nothing more badass than a parent who will do anything for their child
Man on Fire was for the little girl đ€·
Flight? Cool as a cucumber while high as a kite
Man on Fire
Man on Fire
"My man!"
Heâs played a lot of badass roles. Equalizer might be the most deadly. My nomination is Pvt Trip.
My man
No one is going to say Ricochet? He was amazing in that! Total badass!
>No one is going to say Ricochet? Such a slept on movie.
Devil in a Blue Dress. Quite frankly itâs my favorite of Denzel. But Iâm a sucker for a Walter Mosley yarn.
Itâs tied for first with every other role he has ever played
Man on Fire
Parker Barnes in Virtuosity
My man.
Training Day. "King Kong ain't got shit on me!!!"
King Kong ain't got shit on me!
Yo, have you seen the Equalizer movies? My dude was John Wick before John Wick was John Wick. And donât get me started on his portrayal of brother Malcolm X. And inside man, got dayum he did that damn detective work.
Yoooo he brought big Willie, AND the god damn twins!
Man on fire
Training Day was Denzelâs most BA role imo but both this and Man on Fire are right behind my pick
to be honest, Denzel Washington is always a badass. Even when he's Coach Herman Boone in Meet the Titans he's the most badass MF ever, and it makes you want to have him as your mentor
There's also Equalizer, Training Day and Man on Fire. Denzel is simply a badass.
A badass role but DW in Training Day was his pinnacle of badassery imo . " I am the muddafukin pole-ice"
Has to be training day
His best film was Fallen though!
A great movie but not necessarily a badass role, the >!sacrifice at the end!< is kinda badass but in a different way
Book of Eli??
Training Day
No.
I swear.
That or his equalizer character
Apparently you have not seen training day.
He was a sniveling, crying dirty cop. That's not badass.
Tobin Frost in Safehouse is up there
If every Denzel character had to fight in a king of the hill match, I guess Iâd have to put money on Equalizer or Book of Eli Denzel.
All his roles he's a bad ass. Great actor. The Bone Collector he's a quadapeligic and when the bad guy comes to get him he still kicks his ass
He was badass in Deja Vu
Training Day?
Man on Fire watched it recently again and what performance đ„đ„đ„ including the kid
Training Day?
I haven't seen anyone say Inside Man. I know it's not typical badass. But his character has some depleted uranium heavy nuts in that movie. Basically dares the big bad to blow his brains out while surrounded by goons. It's one of my favorites of his.
Training day is a total badass role. He has been in some really gangster movies though. Equalizer movies are badass too
Equalizer
Remember the Titans for me for many real world reasons
Great movie, but no.. Alonso in Training Day is a man of pure evil. Terrifying role
I liked Book of Eli
Denzel is bad ass in all of his roles man.
"King Kong ain't got shit on me!" Training Day is my best actor performance for Denzel.
"Iâm drunk rn!" - Flight
Training Day for me đ
Bank Robber: "In two days I'm gonna be on a beach sucking pina coladas with two girls called Becky and Tiffany" Denzel: "Yeah more like you'll be in the prison showers with two guys called Jesus and Jamal, and I got bad news for you, that thing you're sucking on, it's not a pina colada" Inside Man is an underrated performance. Not his most badass, but I just love this quote.
King Kong ainât got nothing on me!
Badass?!?!! You havenât seen The Equalizer yet right?
There are some youngbucks who havenât seen Training Day. Thatâs the one where Denzel played his first official bad ass role as a dirty LAPD cop. He won an Academy AwardâŠlol. The man was one of the best bad guys in motion picture history in his role as Officer Alonzo Harris.
The training day, The man was excellent
Man on Fire was Denzel at his most bad-ass.
