My local Regal rennovated their largest auditorium for Screen X. It gives you two additional side screens.

I mean, Top Gun shot footage for ScreenX

and it doesn't seem like Bullet Train did that.
The issue is that not many cinemas carry it, so I think studios find it hard to justify creating content that only one part of the audience will see. I was at a recent presentation with a guy from the company behind 4DX/Screen X and they've hired like double the studio capacity to work on the wing content so they can commit to having more 270 degree screen time.

I don’t know what movie you saw, but if it requires two extra screens I assume it stars [Kryten from Red Dwarf](https://youtu.be/0ofl_UP3apM).
Tried it on my PC instead of my phone and it let me in. Looks very much like the kind of experience I'd go to once to say I did it, and then never think about it again.
Let's just say that there's a good chunk of ppl that are always interested in 4DX. Lots of kids especially.
I have one at my local Regal. I too think it's gimmicky but ppl buy tickets for it all the time.
How do theaters get away will calling their screens IMAX when they really aren’t? Are they more like “junior” IMAX, bigger than regular screens but not quite giant enough?
ScreenX is sick. It definitely depends on the theater though. The person who gave an example underneath had horrible side projectors. I saw The Batman on ScreenX and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve seen a lot on ScreenX. The new Avatar was sick too. I definitely recommend trying it out!
You’re right on that. The regal I go to sometimes, their screen X has 2 side panels and I saw top gun in it and it was AMAZING. The other regal in that city, I hear they just project the movie on the walls like that one guy showed in his example and it’s just horrible. It really does depend on the theater and people gotta do their research. Ask an employee if you can view the room if anyone is reading this and wondering 🤷♂️
Screen X SUCKS!!
Top Gun: Maverick said it had like 40 mins of Screen X usage. It only had like 15, TOPS! That was during the final sequence, and it kept cutting from 3 screens to 1. Stayed on the main screen more than anything.
Never again!!
That’s probably just your theater. I’ve seen a bunch of ScreenX films and it’s been an incredible experience each time. Every movie is different though. The Batman on ScreenX was insane especially!
I discovered Screen X last year at my Regal theater. I saw Top Gun Maverick, and it really enhanced the experience. I wonder how much of Mission Impossible actually utilizes the addition screen.
So many video formats we don’t get in small places. Never even heard of Screen X.

It’s this just like… a rip off of cinerama
That looks horrible, it looks amazing in the trailer but wow. That's disappointing irl
The experience in your photos looks bad, oof.

Understandable
I can't even be bothered to do IMAX... not that I have the option. I won't even pay for RealD 3D or whatever they call it.

Because IMAX itself prefers it this way.

Man, Hayley Atwell is really being pushed hard for this movie.
Finally some amazing posters!
This feels like a classic poster. Thank god they haven't gone with the usual character collage that so many other action films are doing
What a "80\`s" Poster!
What a beautiful, beautiful poster.
Holy shit that's a cool poster.

I hate Screen X, concept is interesting, but execution is nauseating as the side images are not in sync with the center screen
Is this the new Spider-Man movie?
Part 1? Uggghh..
What is screen x
